Stopped here on a Sunday morning for breakfast. The parking lot was packed but we were seated immediately. The food was standard for diner fare; highlights included the hash browns (perfectly crispy) and the biscuits. My omelet was good but the avocado slices on top looked a little off so I ended up scraping them to the side, and the jack cheese overpowered the bacon, which in my opinion should really be the highlight of any meal. Mmmm... bacon. Anyways, it was perfect for a hearty weekend breakfast with the family. read more

Had breakfast based on Yelp reviews while visiting Lake Murray. Yelp did not disappoint! I told my husband, my breakfast was as good of a breakfast as I've had in a long time. I got a double with scrambled eggs, bacon and toast. My husband had pancakes with bananas and a side of sausage links. The biggest reasons for a 4 stars instead of 5: our waitress wasn't exactly friendly and the light fixtures over the tables (which hung pretty close to the table) really needed a good dusting....it was pretty gross. I just tried to ignore the dust. If I find myself in Ardmore, I'll be back to eat breakfast (with hopes they've dusted). read more

Great food, grilled chicken, chicken fried steak, and hamburgers are really great and recommended

The service was great as we had 3 waitresses helping the 2 of us but I was a little disappointed with the food and the amount you get. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and the chicken was really thin and cold like it was out of the refrigerator and it says piled high with bacon but there was 2 strips and came with French fries but with no exaggeration there was 10-12 French fries which is probably the best for me but I would imagine for $11. My wife got another chicken sandwich and her chicken was great and hot with the same amount of fries. Overall not bad just not what I was expecting. read more

Did your mamma make biscuits and gravy so good that you could never find a breakfast to live up to it? Mine did, but the Prairie Kitchen in Ardmore OK comes durn close. I have long said that some of the best cooks in America ply their craft in Oklahoma, but now I am convinced that the best of the best go to post-graduate school here. The people are beautiful too, not hollywood beautiful, but some of the kindest, most hardworking, and most honest people you will ever meet. I have rarely been somewhere that made me feel more at home and grateful to be alive and awake before eight AM. Get here early to see humanity and breakfast at their best. read more

If you are a fan of stomach filling meals this is place to go. I stopped here for breakfast and ordered a "campfire". It's an omelette with hashbrowns mixed into one. I ordered mine with ham and Swiss cheese. It came with extra hashbrowns and 2 biscuits with extra gravy on the side. Talking about a hearty breakfast. It was all delicious, I'm not a big fan of biscuits but with that white gravy I downed both of them instantly. The waitresses were super nice and friendly. The place has a really homey feel to it. I've eaten at restaurants across good ol' Oklahoma and this place might serve the best breakfast in the entire damn state. It's a cozy little restaurant with an extremely friendly staff and some of that good ol' country charm. Now...what you're really wanted me to talk about...the food. Their menu is full of homemade lovin'. After a brief survey of the options, I decided on the "Campfire." The Campfire is an omelet infused with hash browns. (Is that the proper use of infused?) I'm not really an omelet guy, but sweet weeping baby Jesus was their omelet wonderful! The texture was splendid and the taste was...just...I'm having trouble finding the proper way to describe what I would call "omelet perfection." I could literally hear my stomach say, "You've done a good job, son." If you do eat here, come hungry. They are more than generous on their portions. The omelet was enough, but as is my standard for breakfast places...I had to have their biscuits n' gravy. And let me say that I'm so happy that I did. It's easily the best I've ever had. Their gravy...their gravy is something special. They should have a trophy, or better yet, a monument dedicated to their biscuits n' gravy. I was more than impressed with this place. This is a great place! We stopped here for lunch on our way to Tulsa. There were four of us and each one got a great meal. I was in the mood for a patty melt, which as expected was a bit on the greasy side, but very, very good. The other three with me enjoyed their food as well. The service was excellent and our little waitress really earned her tip. She even gave us refills of our drinks in to go cups before we left the restaurant. I would stop here again. read more

Had to wait for the guy who does fishing licenses to get in so I asked the cashier at the gas station/bait shop for a recommendation for food. She told us that Prairie Kitchen was her "go to" place so my husband and I decided to try it. We got burgers that were awesome and were got really great service. It was so good we decided to stop on our way home and grab breakfast. It was even better than the burgers. I got the corned beef hash with eggs and a bowl of mixed fruit. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't get the standard honeydew and cantaloupe mix. They served sliced bananas, strawberries, and blueberries. Not great. Very bland food. My husband had the chicken fried steak and eggs and it was just basically breading. I had the chili omelet and the chili tasted like they bought a big can of chili from Sam's and slopped it on top of the omelet. The hash browns were crispy but had a burnt skillet taste to them. My daughter and I took an impromptu road trip and ended up in Ardmore today. We wanted to eat somewhere we couldn't have at home, and stopped in because she said it looked very Oklahoma-ish, whatever that means. We were glad we did! Wonderful breakfast. She had biscuits and gravy which I tried. Nice fluffy biscuits and a good creamy gravy. My omelet was cheesy and had just the right amount of meat. The Hashbrowns were crispy like I like them and the price was very reasonable. Good service, not too on top of us, but quick with what we needed. Food came out quickly too. Great experience. On our way home from Missouri on New Years Day. They were open, friendly and prompt. I had blueberry pancakes. The short stack had 3 plump tender pancakes. Served with hot maple syrup and soft butter. My husband had omelette with just the ingredients he asked for. My husband hugs were slightly undercooked but still great. The pancakes were fluffy and the large portion of hash browns some of the best I have ever had. Staff was friendly as was the manager running the register. I like somewhat thick Gree-yuts, I have lived in the South for 25 yrs, and they should be made in a big enough vat, that they stay warm and thicken, adding judicious water to keep them moist, but lumpy is better than soupy in MY book, they should never be served' Freshly made! Nor thin, and runny! The grits got a massive fail! (After trying to scoop them with the fork, I gave up, and finally sipped them from the bowl, like a soup in a Chinese buffet! ) The English Muffin was hearty and toasted quite nicely! I also had the [$2.99] Large Grapefuit Juice. It was Ruby Red, and quite nice, Hadnt been chilled, and while the waitress did bring ice to cool it down, I preferred it luke was to iced - down. We ordered take out. Had our family member pick it up for us. The order was not complete. Had to drive back up there for our missing items. The chicken fried steak was nasty and tasted like it had been frozen prior. Mashed potatoes tasted like they were several days old and were hard. They tasted so bad, my one year old refused to eat them. The gravy poured out like water. The Dr Pepper was 2.99 in a small cup and we were told that was a large? We were hungry so we ate it.
