Been here at least 20 plus times over the years. So hear me out. My family detests buccees. We all hate the food at buccees, and everything is overrated. We cringe everytime we see any streamer say how great the food is at buccees. This place, could blow them away...but 1.) the staff sucks. Every single time we've come, it feels like NO ONE wants to be working there. Except for the wonderful older woman working the bakery early mornings. She does the basics. "Good morning", "have a great day", "let me get you a warm kolache", "have a safe trip". You know simple,polite,no extra small talk. Stuff that no one ever, like never besides her has done. The girls at check out are the worst. I'm going to leave it at that. At this point it's a management problem. 2.) it's not open 24 hours. The only reason we stop at buccees is to use the bathroom if we know we will get here before it opens. We will still keep coming. The toasted cinnamon coffee and pecan is AMAZING!!!! I've bought bags several times just to have it. The bakery goods, and jerky blow anything buccees has. I've bought steaks here to make back home and they were great. I stopped here to walk my dog, Sneakers out front for a potty break and I grabbed myself some Corn Nuts for the road. When I went to pay, little did I know that the cashier was going to commit fraud on my debit card. Yes, you heard right. I went to check my card statement and saw four transactions to Uber Eats that happened on the weekend of Easter and that Monday. I hadn't been used the food delivery service in two years and only use it when I'm traveling out of state. I immediately called my bank to report the fraud. The first transaction occurred on Saturday. This smokehouse was the only business I stopped at that day and used my card. I will never be stopping here again!!!! Thief and crook! This review is for the well seasoned butterflied pork chops.I'm very disappointed at myself for not purchasing more than one package. It was too hot to grill and I didn't feel like using the oven so, I put the chops in the crockpot with onions and bell peppers. Fantastic outcome! Delicious flavors and a very moist. Texas BBQ meets Buc-cees. * * * This is a gigantic convenient store gas station on the order of a Buc-cees that also runs a successful smoke house. What is amazing is amazing. Not everything is amazing. * * * Item 1) The BBQ is real deal and bona fide. You can get first rate meat here or a first rate BBQ sandwich. I had a pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw on the top. Yeah yeah yeah, if you are reviewing Texas BBQ, you are supposed to get the brisket. After the brisket, you test the sausage. I went North Carolina and got pork rather than beef. But I was not disappointed one little bit. This was Carolina quality. In general, any Texas BBQ that does one kind of meat well, does them all well. (An exception is Terry Black's in Austin whose only good meat is turkey.) Usually, if one meat is good, all meats are good. Item 2) They do an outstanding jerky and dried sausage program. Some of the best I have had anywhere. Note that Buc-cee's also does an ambitious jerky and dried sausage program. Prasek's leaves Buc-cee's in the dust on this count. Buc-cee's jerkies are often downright poor. They are sold even if they are old. You can often see visible spots of mold on a Buc-ee's jerky. Prasek solves that problem handily. They plastic seal the jerky immediately. They do not let it sit out in the open air receiving whatever microbes and life forms want to land on the jerky and start multiplying. Now in case you are thinking "Well every brand of jerky you can buy in a convenience store is plastic wrapped. What's the big deal?" Trust me on this one. Prasek's jerky is way way way way better than any national or regional brand you will buy in a convenience store. Actually, in this part of Texas, the convenience stores DO buy Prasek's as well as the national commercial brands. I have only had Prasek's jerky in their very own flagship store. But that flagship jerky is absolutely positively stellar. 3) They have a gigantic cylindrical floor to ceiling aquarium that is knock your socks off. I am a sucker for aquaria and go to them all the time. Having a big aquarium in a convenience store is cooler than cooler than cool. * * * So why does Prasek's get only three stars if it has great BBQ, great jerky and a cool aquarium? Because everything else is either OMG overpriced, OMG bad or OMG overpriced AND bad. The BBQ and Jerky are reasonably priced. That is what they use to get you into the store. After that, the plan is to bleed you alive with extra purchases, And those extra purchases are rip-off-city. $9 for a jar of salsa? $75 for a simple checked shirt? I personally sampled their pea salad side dish and a caramel brownie. The prices were not terrible for those. The quality was as rock bottom as you could be without being spoiled. The peas were tasteless without salt and tasteless after you put salt on. The brownie tasted overwhelming of bad artificial flavor. I have been to bottom tier Tex-Mex bakeries where all the pastries tasted of cheapo artificial flavor. This was worse. * * * The contrast with Buc-cee's is marked here. Never mind the home decoration tourist goods sections where prices can be high (although not outlandish). Most of what they sell at Buc-cees is a huge array of convenience food. Like every candy bar made by every candy bar manufacturer in the United States. Like every kind of carbonated beverage you can find in any supermarket. Like all kinds of sandwiches, and all kinds of fudge and all kinds of snack food whether made by themselves or made by a national company. It is all fresh. It is all good. It is all fairly priced. The one exception is the occasionally over-exposed jerky ... But there is usually good jerky elsewhere in the case. Basically, jerky aside, you can buy pretty much anything edible at a Buc-cees and it is going to be okay. Their barbecue is actually credible, although it does not reach the high standards of a Prasek or any famous name local Texas BBQ. Their other merchandise is basically okay for what it is. I have bought Country and Western CDs from them (generally special compilations made for the tourist trade.) The prices were fair. The music was decent. * * * Overall, Buc-cee's is a better place. If you are on a long road trip, and you are planning a convenience store like stop, Buc-cee's is where you want to go. If you are planning on getting off the highway and eating in whatever town you are in, Well, that is what Yelp is for. They will help you find a good place. I wouldn't avoid Prasek's but if I went, I would stick to a system. Buy Barbecue. Buy Jerky. Get back on the road. No harm in looking at the fish while you eat. read more

This is our second time to stop for breakfast Kolache. First off the ladies at the counter are so rude, then you get in your car and try to eat your kolache, they didn't even ask to warm it, so it's cold. Of the 4 Kolaches we brought, they all went to the birds out the window. The bread, has no taste to it and the egg and cheese, I hope the birds don't get sick! Yall should drive to Katy and try a Kolache factory, Kolache, the bread is fantastic and the friendly staff always ask if you want them warm. I always enjoy a stop over at Praseks. The one comment of negativity that I feel compelled to make is the restroom doors. Those of us that deal on a daily basis with the effects of combat related. Prasek's has many good products, especially their sausages. But I was very disappointed when I bought their bread stuffed quail. It was about 90% flavorless stuffing and 10% quail. On our way back to Houston, we made a quick stop at Prasek's for a bite to eat. If you've ever been to Buc-ee's, you'll know the vibe--it's quite similar. The restrooms were spotless, which was a huge plus. They have a wide variety of food items and a pretty extensive retail selection. There's also a large dining area where you can sit and enjoy your meal. There was no crowd at all, which was nice. However, the ordering process was a bit confusing. Thankfully, the employees were very patient and took the time to explain everything and even offered some food recommendations. Now, for the not-so-great part: the wait time for our food was significant. I finished my entire large drink (I drink quite slowly fyi), and our food still wasn't ready. When it finally arrived, it was a letdown. I ordered a burger, and it was dry and hard. The fries seemed undercooked and were cold, so much so that my kids wouldn't eat them. Overall, we all hated the food. Another issue was that an employee was mopping the dining area where we were seated. She mopped as close as right next to our feet, which was both annoying and unsafe. We had to tiptoe out to avoid slipping. While I'd definitely stop by again just to use the restrooms, I wouldn't eat there again. August 2023: On my way to Houston I took a break from highway driving to fuel up my vehicle and use the loo which was very clean. However my wife wanted to try their BBQ. This place is nice where fun to browse around where there was a wide range of merchandise and food items and lots of it looks handcrafted and locally sourced. Friendly staff working here make you feel like at home. The BBQ brisket taste really good and has a nice flavor to it where was not or dry or moist. They have other choices to chose from and next time will try the pork ribs. read more

This last purchase was waaay too spicy. Frigging burned going down. Bought a bag of caramel corn that had to have been on the display about a year. Stale and chewy, not crisp. Brought both items back. Had the pleasure of dealing w Brooklynne. This young manager made good on the purchase w exchange and refund. She could not have been nicer to me. We stopped by this place out of curiosity. When you walk in, you'll notice the unique, handcrafted items for sale before walking into the actual store itself. Noticed how clean everything was and the employees were nice. This place reminded me of Buc-ee's but add a lot of country and you have Prasek's. One could spend a lot of time looking at the baked goods, meats and Texas brand food items they sell. They also sell out of state brands like stonewall kitchens. We ordered a few sandwiches, the brisket nachos and a mini lemon meringue pie. The brisket over all had great flavor. On point and the smoked turkey bbq sandwich was surprisingly delicious. Coleslaw was bland. Definitely not a fan of the pie. So the meringue was ok, but the lemon filling underneath was as hard as a gummy candy. Just no. Why would you sell me something overcooked or possibly old? So I'll stick with the bbq the next time we stop by. They do meats really, really well. BBQ from a gas station? Who knew it could be an amazing experience! I'm from Missouri, was in California and was trying to arrange lunch for 30 in Sealy, TX. Sealy is tiny without many restaurants. I called to see if they could help. Laurie was fantastic and we came up with a great menu of three meats and multiple sides. There wasn't much of anything left. Anytime you are traveling on I-10 to or from Houston, you absolutely must stop here. The family and I travel a lot from the San Antonio area to Houston quite frequently. When I drive, I allow one pit stop on the way for gas and potty breaks for the girls. Usually, this stop is Buc-ee's in Luling. A few years ago, we deviated from our one planned pit stop thanks to an unplanned potty break. That unplanned potty break has now replaced Buc-ee's as our planned stop. I cannot believe I have missed this hidden jewel the hundred or so times I've passed this place. Once you walk through the automatic doors, you walk past a lot of handmade rustic country furniture. Porch swings, fire pits, tables and chairs, and all sorts of high quality rustic items. Upon walking in the store, you see friendly faces behind the counter to greet you as you walk in. From there, you have a lot of different options. If you veer to the left, you will head toward the bakery and meat counter. There you will find a great selection of delicious kolaches, cookies, and cinnamon rolls. All look very delicious, but I can vouch the kolaches are legit! Work your way down the counter a way, and you will see a selection of different steaks, meats, that all look like quality cuts. In the middle of the aisle, you will see coolers with specialty meats, and a nice variety of things you do not typically see at grocery stores. There are also a selection of delicious tamales and other desserts (jello, puddings, etc). This review would be too long to list what they have, but the selection is very impressive. Prior to COVID, there would be free samples of the tamales and kolaches. I wish they would bring these samples back. Keep working your way down the counter and you eventually run into a counter for the grill. Here you will find great food made to order. Selections include: BBQ sandwiches, cold cut sandwiches, steaks, and burgers, to name a few. The wife has tried the BBQ sandwiches and was pleased. It must be good, as that is her go to when we stop. Myself, I am a big fan of the Monte Cristo. I've also had their Philly cheesesteak and it also was tasty. Everything on the menu looks delicious, and I'm eager to try additional items on the next trip. Turn around from the grill, and you will see another counter with various delicious sweets. Mainly, cakes and cupcakes. Available for purchase by the cake or by the slice. All look very delicious. On the counter, there is a selection of various salsas that are very delicious. Prior to COVID, you could taste test the salsas. High quality, great tasting salsa if that is your thing. After you follow the counter around you will run into the fountain drinks. There is your basic fountain drinks and your sweet tea in large wooden barrels. Look to the right, and you will see an impressive Yeti selection. Cups, coolers, dog bowls, etc. A lot of cool colors and latest and greatest products. Behind the Yeti products you will see a plethora of specialty food products. There is so many things to look at, and not enough hours in the day to browse them! There is specialty cooking spices, sauces, jelly, jarred fruits and vegetables, and way too much more to list. Very impressive. If you venture around a little from there you will see a little boutique with women's clothing and all that girly girl stuff. After you pass the fountain drinks you run into the restrooms. All, very clean and well supplied. These bathrooms were just as clean as the ones at home. Nothing more to say about this. Moving on..... After walking past the bathroom, you will see the convenience store items. You have your basic snacks, drinks, and everything else you would need for your travels. Lastly, before making the loop and returning to square one, you run into the sitting area to eat your food from the grill. A nice wide open space with clean tables, and a large aquarium with cool looking fish. These completes the grand tour. Here you pay for your items at the counter, and hit the road again. Again, this place is a must if you travel this way. So stop by, and pay this place a visit. This place is way cooler than Buc-ee's. Yes... You heard that right... I said it...
