Perfect place to stop on your way through town as you're trying to get connected from Houston to San Antonio and I will be doing just that probably every time I go through here. Hinze's BBQ been around for 41 years! My parents been coming here since their twenties. Making memories years before I became a twinkle in their eyes. I remember coming here on trips back to their hometown to visit my grands and aunts and uncles. I'm happy I get to create memories with my little one, from when he was a baby, to returning home from troop camp outs to visiting back home to his great grandmas 79th birthday celebrations! Excellent, friendly service and great smoked BBQ. The brisket was lean and the chicken was perfectly moist and tasty. Nothing was over-seasoned or over-cooked, and if you want their homemade BBQ sauce you add it yourself. My 2 meat combination plate (brisket and chicken) also came with a slice of bread, onions and pickles - which was awesome. They also have really good sweet tea. I went through the drive-through and by the time I had pulled over when it was time to eat 15 minutes later I was too far away to turn and go back with today's gas prices. I have been Eating at Hinze's for as long as they have been open. In Sealy. Almost twice a week the past 2 years or so. Their food is always good quality well prepared meats, sides, and drinks. In the Classic Texas BBQ style. Try their sliced pork for something a little different than brisket. Also their pies. They always treat me well and are exceptionally nice to me. I got a three meat deluxe plate with sliced brisket, sliced pork and ribs and for dessert. I got the chocolate explosion and for the drink I got a jumbo half lemonade, half tea everything was delicious and the sauce was perfect. It was sweet and savory and chunky and everything was dippable in that delicious sauce. They had a lot of options for sides. I chose buttered carrots, which were sweet and mashed potatoes with white gravy. They had different gravy's as options as well. I did try the okra on my aunts plate, and she also had baked beans which were delicious as well. Hinze's has a smoky, saucy little place in my heart that I've had since I was little. I grew up dining at this restaurant with my family so it's hard not to be subjective here. If you're driving through Texas along I-10, you're not from here, and you want to experience the hospitality of a small town BBQ joint, here you go. The atmosphere is exactly what you're looking for, but it does have a drive-thru if you need to skedaddle! Their BBQ sauce is my touchstone for a solid sauce and that says a lot! This paired with their smoked sausage is 10/10 EVERYTHING you'll ever want. The rest of the BBQ is NOT the best, though. Their cheeseburger is one of the best around. There are craft places around Houston that are inarguably great, and I find myself going to Hinze's anyway. It's always to order and just the way you want it. I have my boyfriend and roommate hooked and it's a must-have at least every month or so. The gals who serve you are always so cute too! Try it out! read more

Lately, the last 4/5 times I have stopped by to eat their half chicken and leg quarter plate, the size of the chicken pieces have been laughably small! I will dare to say smaller than quail. To add insult, the chicken pieces have been old, dry and tasteless! They're serving us the old chicken probably because it doesn't sell as much, and they're saving the new chicken for later times. After not eating all day due to a busy travel schedule and then hitting rush hour traffic in Houston, I was eager to find a place for a nice dinner. I saw Hinze's and decided to check it out. It ended up being an excellent choice! When I went in, Preston greeted me warmly and made me feel so welcome. That was a good sign. I opted for the sliced beef brisket with sides of cooked carrots and dirty rice. Everything was incredibly flavorful! The brisket was tender with a smoky flavor. The sides were amazing as well. I noticed when I walked in that Hinze's had homemade pies. The pecan pie caught my eye. After I enjoyed my wonderful dinner, I decided to get a slice for takeaway. It made for a delicious treat when I got to my hotel two hours later. If I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely go back to Hinze's for the brisket. It's worth the trip! read more

You order at the counter. They call your order number when your order is ready and you pick it up at the counter. I had the grilled fish. It was so good and a nice portions. My companion had a brisket burger but he took off the buns because it was too soggy with BarBque sauce. I brought the buns home to my dogs and they loved it! read more

We went there for a family get together. The person that took our order stated the total price and I handed her my credit card. When I got my receipt, it was several dollars higher than what she stated. It turns out they at a service charge for credit cards but don't tell you until after they run your card. I complained and the cashier didn't want to do anything, so I asked for the manager. She claimed to be the manager, but did not appear to be management material. I told her to reverse the charge on my card and I will pay cash. She said she didn't know how to do it. (I'd expect a manager to know how to do that.) I gave up and went to my seat. Later, when we got our food, four of the six orders were wrong. It turns out the person that claimed to be the manager also keyed in our orders incorrectly even though she was repeating them back to us correctly. I had quit going to Hinze's several years ago because of the lousy service, and figured after a few years things might have gotten better, but they've gotten even worse. There are reasons the locals don't eat here. The traffic on Interstate 10 is what keeps this business alive. read more

I have been a long-time customer of Hinze's. I picked up a to go order last night. The food was not up to Hinze's usually good standards. I decided to call back in the morning bc it was right before closing time on Mother's Day evening. I have worked in the food service industry for years and know that right before closing at night after a busy night is not the time anyone wants to talk about orders that were not up to par. I told the manager I wanted to give them a chance to make it right before I wrote a negative review. When I called this afternoon at 2:00 as not to bother them during the lunch rush,I spoke with the owner. I explained the situation and basically was told that I was a scammer and was threatening him! He had every excuse in the book as to why the food was not up to their usual standards. I was calm, did not curse, and was very polite and then to be told I was a scammer for trying to do the right thing and NOT be a Karen!
