Set in what I guess you could call the Strip of Winter Park. This place gives the vibe of See and be Seen before you even get into the place. With tables placed outside. Once you walk in they use natural lighting windows on the ceiling with seemingly spacious tables alongside the walls that are decorated with potted plants. Then the place changes a third time as you approach one of the longest bars I have ever seen. The tables off of the side give you are more intimate vibe with high tables between the bar and the booths creating a more bustling vibe when this place fills up. You begin to brush up against patrons passing through to get to the back where it just changes a fourth time. I'm hoping it's a work in progress... well come to think of it, it looks like the staging area for the staff but yet you can sit back there and get a great view of the kitchen. In the back are the bathrooms which nothing odd stood out to me that would merit mentioning. Clean and not much else. This place has a lot of staff and with good reason it's got more space than the front leads you to believe. Reason it didn't get four stars was I asked for Glenlivet 18yr and they came back with Glenlivet 12yr without telling me but soon as I touched my lips on it I knew it was 18. I opted for Basil Hayden on the rocks, instead. I have not tried the food here but maybe I'll come by next month. read more

Went to Prato for my birthday, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! The service, staff, vibes, and food are amazing. My go-to dish is gnocchi, and this one tasted exactly as described and what I wanted it to taste like. We sat outside and loved it. Prices are reasonable. We experienced their lunch menu during the Fall Arts Festival last Saturday and my lunch partner and I were not very impressed. I had the artichoke ravioli with arrabiata sauce that had more tang than heat. I perked it up to a more savory flavor by swirling a few of my friend's fries into it. It needed some cheese or salt. I wouldn't order it again. My friend had a mundane chicken sub sandwich. Very filling but bland in taste. We also split the butternut squash soup to start and that was perfectly seasoned and yummy. For a pizza place I definitely expected a better quality pizza. I felt like it was missing cheese and it wasn't cooked thoroughly. The dough was soft at the bottom, you couldn't even take a regular bite without it all falling apart. The best thing was the mustard spaghetti. I was definitely content with that plate & the salad was good butjust a bit too much garlic for my preference. The garlic overpowers all the other flavors in the salad. I ordered sangrias at the bar... the first one was really good. Then the ones after were very very sugary and just not the same. It's a pricey place... popular too the later it gets & I don't see why to be honest. There's no music, drinks are over priced, and the pizza is soggy. However, I must say Service was good! Exceptional meal here! The arancini were delicious and unique, with sweet flavors of apple and fennel. The apricot crostini had the most amazing house-made ricotta, and the beef tartare was fresh and delicious. I tried Prato for the first time recently and I loved it! First, the vibe of the place is really great. It's low lighting for a relaxing and romantic mood, would be a perfect place for a dinner date. They also had some TVs by the bar where they had the football game on. I had to wait a little bit for a table since I didn't have a reservation, but they have a text system which was really convenient. On to the food... yum! To drink I had a couple cetriolos, which were fresh and light. As an appetizer I had the Arancini, it comes as five small balls and they did a really great job on the flavoring. I ordered the mustard spaghetti, which sounded gross, but I heard great things about it. The verdict, it was very good, but... the butter nut squash was out of this world! Food was amazing. I had the sweet potato and brown butter ravioli. Fantastic. Simple ingredients executed perfectly. Wife had the Marconi almond tortellini on pesto. She's a pesto fanatic and she says it's the best she's ever had. She loved her her dish. The pasta was delicate and light (it's homemade daily) but not rustic at all. I had eaten here once before a few years ago and was not impressed so I never went back until my friend wanted to meet there for lunch. I'm not sure if they got a new chef but everything we had was incredible. We started with the Black truffle arancini, Prato meatballs and crostini. It was all mouth watering. Prato is to die for!!!! This was the last place I went before I moved out of town and had been a staple on my must go to restaurants in orlando for years when I lived there. Took all my family and friends here when they came to visit. You need to book well in advance if you're looking to secure a table - at least 3 weeks out. This place is always packed from open to close. Atmosphere can be a little loud but the tables are very cozy if you are seated in the booth and chair style seating. Outside seating is also super cute right on park ave in the bustle of this upscale community. Wine menu is excellent. Can't really go wrong with any of the reds. Had the arancini which is seasonally changing and has a nice crisp crust and soft center. Favorites are the cacio e pepe mustard spaghettini. This dish is out of this world! I love the squid ink pasta as well but you must be a fan of a fishier taste for this. The ink is used to dye the pasta. Widow maker pizza is a clear winner with all. Funky little touch with the egg in the center for dipping. Fresh Margarita pizza is also a great choice for a simple table pleaser. They also offer crushed red pepper or cheese if requested. Great indoor and outdoor seating! Extensive wine list and a large cocktail menu! The food comes in huge portions that are easily shareable. We split the Widowmaker pizza and it was awesome. Enough for three people as an appetizer and loves of sausage. The chopped chicken salad is actually huge. We asked them to split it into two bowls and I was almost full after it. The short rib tortellini was good! You can get a half portion (which isn't on the menu) for half price and it's decent sized! Incredible happy hour! read more

The hype is real, the mustard spaghetti "cacio e Pepe" is a 10/10! We also tried the escarole Caesar, and as a Caesar salad enthusiast, I was impressed. Honorable mention for the red wine marinated olives, I could eat them all day every day! Loved this place- I went for the first time yesterday and it lived up to expectations! Great vibes and great food! The food is delicious, highly recommend the calamari appetizer that we ordered. It was perfectly cooked, crunchy on the outside and juicy & tender inside. The squid ink pasta and fried snapper that we ordered were also delicious. Pasta was perfectly cooked and flavor was on point, the fried snapper was also well prepared (but just a tad too salty imo). The artichoke and potatoes that accompanied the snapper were surprisingly scrumptious. My only complaint would be that parking could be tricky (since it's in downtown winter park) and reservations need to be made a few days to a week out. read more

Prato is located on Park Avenue, in Winter Park. We've always heard great things about this restaurant, so the other night decided to go. We got a great parking spot across the street and arrived at 5:00 pm. The restaurant itself is not very large but they have a nice bar area with seats, tables and booths around the restaurant. They also have outdoor seating. Once seated we got seated we our menus and glasses of water. The server gave us a few minutes to look it over. He did mention that it was happy hour however the kitchen opens at 5:30. Until then the bar was the only option. The time was 5:10 so we had 20 minutes until the kitchen opened. We looked at the happy hour and dinner menus. It was a daunting task because everything looked great. After about 8 mins or so, the server returns to take our orders. First we ordered some wines Prosecco, Villa Sandi from the happy hour (2 glasses each.. happy hour was ending soon lol) . As far as food we order the Pretzel-Crusted Calamari to start with.(Salsa Rossa, Grain Mustard Aioli), Diavolo Pizza from happy hour menu (Pepperoni, Pancetta, Italian Long Pepper, Auricchio Piccante), Prato Meatballs(Roasted Tomato, Cipollini Agrodolce) & Mustard Spaghettini Cacio E Pepe (Radicchio, Speck, Balsamico). Our server (David?) was warm and had great recommendations. Our night started with a shared Fiorentina pizza and the Prato meatballs. The Fiorentina pizza was delicious, everyone at the table wanted more. The Prato meatballs were perfectly cooked for me but I will admit one of my group felt the meatballs were too under cooked. I couldn't decide if I wanted to do the Mustard Spaghettini or the Flat Iron Steak, so I went with both. They were both delicious and flavorful but if I were to only choose one it would've been the Spaghettini. The spaghettini was AMAZING. Definitely coming again and bringing 20 friends. read more

My friends and I decided to check out this place after recommendations. We forgot to make reservations and that was probably our biggest mistake. Had to wait almost an hour to hour and half to be seated. Luckily there's plenty to do in the area, so we walked around Park Ave and checked out a few of the local shops and holiday decorations while waiting. Our outdoors table had space heaters which was perfect because it was a pretty chilly night. For appetizers my friends ordered some calamari which they said was super delicious and I ordered the crostini (one of the few vegetarian items on their menu). The crostini was really good. I think the bread could have been a little less chewy but overall the mixture of flavors went really well together. I ordered the potato gnocchi has my entree which was super filling. They had a few vegetarian options, and you could substitute out the meat as long as it wasn't in the sauce. Overall: The inside looked very aesthetically pleasing, the food was very good and filling, and service was awesome. I have been coming to Prato since the year they opened. Although I don't live in Orlando anymore, any time I come visit we always make a point to come for dinner. Prato never disappoints. The service is great. The food amazing. I was just in Rome this week and the pasta and pizza is on par with being in Italy. The widowmaker and truffle pizza are our favorite pizzas. The carpaccio, meatballs, and calamari you can't go wrong with. All of the pastas are amazing! Favorite is the mustard spaghettini- don't let the name fool you, I'm not a huge mustard fan, but huge fan of this pasta. This restaurant has a cool vibe and the ambiance is great for a fun night out in Winter Park. We can't wait to visit again! read more

Front staff was super rude today and not willing to accommodate. We called 30 seconds before arriving to see if they can accommodate a party of 7. After saying we won't hold a table we have available, I said no problem I'll be right there. We show up a few seconds later and the staff said oh we just sat party there it will be 30 minutes. Sounded like BS. We saw tables available that can easily be arranged to accommodate. The hostess made a rude and weird comment saying oh that "looks" uncomfortable so I won't seat you there. Staff is not friendly or accommodating... so many other good places to eat in WP. It's a shame because the food is great. We will think twice before going back. read more
