I came here today to see the animals and what food they had for birds and bunnies. I was pleasantly surprised to see the wide variety of animals. They even had an animal I haven't heard of before, a Degu. They had many employees working today and they were all friendly and nice. I saw there were many empty areas of food for small animals and birds but other than that, everything else was stocked well. The store was clean, and I purchased a couple of birds. The store in Glendale seemed to have more knowledge about sexing birds, which I truly appreciated. In contrast, the one in Mesa stated that they do not gender any of the animals. I waited for a short while, realizing they were busy, but I felt like I was more of an inconvenience than a valued customer. It didn't have a friendly atmosphere. While I'm not suggesting that the staff were unfriendly, the overall vibe was lacking warmth. The animals were fun to observe, and that rooster was pretty cool. However, I wish the store offered better training for its employees. Given that I drove five hours to visit this location, I don't think I will be returning. I will be looking for another store to visit. read more

I loved it! I was greeted coming in, by friendly people. They had exactly what I needed and some items I have only found previously online. I got mealworms in two sizes for our beardies, and had great counts in the containers. I also got crickets for our Scorpion and they were healthy and lively. Bought a bird from here this week. All the birds were well kept and the animals all seemed happy with decent set ups. There is a cat and silky hen that walk around that give the store a warm and whimsical touch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The prices were fair and in some cases very cheap. this place is really going downhill... we just recently stopped in for the first time in a while- brought our kids in to see the animals of course. one of their birds had a metal hook from the cage pierced through it's neck and had been banging on the cage to try to get free, none of the workers noticed until we said something. guinea pigs & bunnies were laying in bedding full of poop, most cages and setups were filthy and seemed unkept. save yourself an uneasy stomach and avoid this place entirely. read more

DO NOT BUY PETS HERE EVER. I would also give them a zero if I could. They sell sick pets. They do not have any compassion for animals or pets. I bought 2 love birds and after not even 2 days the first pet became extremely ill and died. I was told to bring the bird in and exchange with zero acknowledgement understanding or apology. After receiving my 2nd bird my other bird became very ill only a few days after. I had to nurse her for 2 days. I have been a bird mom since I was a child and recently lost a personal pet of 8 years around Christmas - following this recent heart break I decided to bring both the birds back for compensation. The assistant manager finally apologized and after asking what was going on she admitted to me almost all their birds were on antibiotics after veterinary care. That they had bought from a bad breeder. Avoid the heartbreak and NEVER SHOP HERE. Shame oh this store for selling customers sick animals. I was a 1st time customer and love bird owner and now I feel I can never own a love bird again due to this unreal experience. Worst Experience Ever. Lovely staff that handled me being impatient and calling every few days to check on a shipment of the kits. I'd give them a zero if I could. I wish I knew these things when I bought my puppy. I bought a puppy here and 12 months later, after $1200 in bills to diagnose, he needs over $8000 in surgeries related to bilateral hip dysplasia and knee luxations. FOUR DISEASED JOINTS. He has mobility issues and I carry him upstairs at 12 months old. They absolutely COULD help with these vet bills and should do the right thing but the owner refuses and tells me they are only contractually obligated for 60 days after the purchase. It took a year for him to grow and start showing symptoms. They are "asking the breeder to help cover some cost" but I'm still waiting to hear back about that. Shocking. DO NOT BUY THEIR PUPPIES. THEY USE SLOPPY BREEDERS AND A "PUPPY BROKER". YOULL NEVER BE ABLE TO RESEARCH KENNELS ONLINE OR CONTACT ANYONE OTHER THAN THEIR STORE MANAGER WHO RUNS INTERFERENCE. I bought a puppy from this store and took her to the vet right away where I was told she had an ear infection in which she had for awhile, when I told the pet store they said she did not have one when in their care and they were not responsible for it. My girlfriend and I recently bought 2 ferrets from this location. Kaylee was the worker that day and I can't compliment her enough. She helped us the whole way and took time to explain everything. Been here a few times and the service has been decent. Friendly and reasonably priced even tho they don't have any of the common treats. Beyond that, one thing is very consistent. Slow slow slow service. I understand if you're understaffed but then hire more people. Every single time I go in there it takes forever just to check out and today was even worse. I stood there for a solid 20 minutes with shit in my hands waiting to simply pay as they were in the back picking out "hopper" mice. Again, totally understand being busy but don't leave the front and leave all your customers there to help 1 person in the back pick mice. Make them wait. If you're understaffed you need to tell the owner or manager you need more help. I literally almost walked out and I'll debate if I want to return. I probably will simply for dog food because you're a block away but as far as other shit, nope, target is. You have 3 registers but only ever 1 cashier and it takes forever to check out. This is why some mom and pop places don't last and it's also why QT is killing the game because customers are in and out in seconds. Quick service matters. read more

We just went inside to see if this location is better than the Glendale location. They are exactly the same in which they don't give a f about any of the animals they sell. There were 10+ hens in a small case and one was bleeding excessively while all the others pecked at her tail feathers. We told the employee and instead of showing any care or concern for the chickens safety she just says "yah yah... can I help the next customer" and looked at the next person in line. All the chickens have blood on their beaks and the chicken bleeding is clearly in distress but the employees couldn't be bothered. The way Pratt's treats animals is considered animal neglect and they should not be allowed to operate. The hen is going to bleed to death and is clearly in pain. read more

This place is ridiculous and does not take care of their animals. All the birds had dirty water. Yes there is more than one bird in there so the water can dirty faster but give me a break. The bearded dragons.... Poor babies all looked sick and the way their poop appears in their cage .... gross. My own bearded dragon pooped like that and the vet said it had parasites. Based on my knowledge of bearded dragons, I can safely assume these guys do as well. Dog pee pads for their substrate?!? Come on.... This is SICKENING. They treat their animals well, they helped me pick out the correct cage for my two new rats and helped me decide on food and toys. Very helpful employees! Lindsay, thank you for restoring my faith in humanity. We wanted to support a local business and so glad we did! Called this store asking about hamsters and explained the age of my kids and how the hamster would be living in my 9 year olds room. She told me what she had and suggested gerbils. She took the time to explain to me the differences between the two animals. She was knowledgeable, thoughtful and kind. When we arrived, she made an effort to accommodate us. We were a little late, because the 2 gerbils she had on hand, had already been spoken for. I could tell she felt terrible and thanked her for her kindness and thoughtfulness. She Ossis she had more gerbils coming in the next day. No problem. She offered to meet us half way - we live in Cave Creek. Who does that!? Lindsay does! I did not take her up on the offer, because there was no need. Just the thought filled my heart with joy. We received a phone that the baby gerbils had arrived and what colors. We said we would be there by 3. When we got there, the gerbils were waiting for us and my daughters were able to pick which ones they wanted to take home. We left all left fulfilled! Thank you Lindsay for taking the time to explain gerbils to us and for going the extra mile. It won't go unnoticed or unappreciated. You have left a memorable impact on all of us! Clear neglect. The tortoises are kept in terrible condition, there is no heater in their tank, there is no space for any of them to wander. The beta's "tanks" which are actually just little cups have orbies in the bottom which are toxic to all animals. read more

Only go here, If you like sick and dying pets that have no guarantee (as it appears to be a significant problem at this store with a large posted sign due to numerous problems ) staff is selling animals that are partially paralyzed / immobile and covered in butt-paste / feces and are completely un-trained in identifying a clearly distressed and sick animal likely due to poor transport and breeding conditions of the laying hens. When I notified staff of the problems and symptoms they continued to put the sick animals back in with the others which only perpetuates the infection of other potentially healthy animals. I'm surprised the department of agriculture or the state hasn't shut this place down. read more

It is becoming increasingly difficult to find animals with everything going on now. The parakeet we purchased is more than we could have expected! Wow! Came here due to Predators not being open for another hour... no engagement by any employee... the animal enclosures are filthy with waste. The smell of the store is borderline sickening. When we did finally engage with an associate they were also incompetent when we questioned the price of feeders. The statement from the associate,"we are not sure where our assistant manager is but what is it you are trying to achieve here." My response was I am trying to achieve making a purchase but have some questions on the price... her response,"well that's the correct price". Ok thanks I'll go to Predators... "Ok have a nice day!" Customer service does not exist here, just bad attitude, ineptitude and sarcasm. Went in to see the selection of chicks. Was only allowed to go in 1 at a time. I understand due to the conditions our world is in. Asked a worker for the selection on chicken coops and was responded with "don't have any". When I asked when they would get some in, "I don't know". Back in August I went and got a leopard gecko from them and she is very healthy, In the beginning all we had to really do was help her eat more. So with high Hope's I went and got another earlier this week and she is sick. She wont eat, she's really scared. I'm assuming its because they had her cohabiting with another leopard gecko and was bullied by it. I will say the worker that day was amazing and showed us all of the ones they had. If you're going to get a reptile of theirs please examine it before. You should NEVER put sick animals out, because it was obvious she is sick!! read more

I be going here often for chicken feed , and it's sad how they really don't take care of the animals here . The chickens they all peck and hurt each other bc there no food and there no water available for them ! Every time I come here it the same for the last few times . I did told one of the staff about it and she says she will get them water . I really hope she does !!! At first I really like this location and I bought my daughter her first gerbil here and I referred my siblings to this location as well. today I was there to buy my daughter another gerbil (she is 9) but they were out of stock so we started walking around to see the animals they had, just to look around and we saw a three-year-old male rabbit that my two-year-old fell in love with it, and of course we did too. He started playing with my daughter he was following her where she will go and she will run and he will run with her so we decided to get him. When we were at the cashier to pay for the rabbit. My daughter who is barely potty train, needed to go to the bathroom and I asked if she can use the bathroom. They told me they did not have bathrooms but if I remember Chuck E. Cheese's used to be there. So I knew they have bathrooms. I understand the coronavirus is going on right now but when a two year old is jumping up and down saying that they need to go to the bathroom there is a must to let her go into the bathroom while I'm being a customer paying for something from your store. If I wasn't a customer who's buying something I totally understand or if it was me I can hold it until we are done with the transaction. but if I'm being a customer buying something worth more then 60+ then yes. Worst customer service ever. I had to leave the store to take my daughter to the food city for she can use the bathroom. I did not go back to buy the rabbit I feel really sad about it When I got home (I live in Maricopa) And realize why I didn't just go back and bought just the rabbit because the rabbit did not have fault for the worst customer service. DISCUSTING enclosures, over crowded and no enrichment for the animals. It's really sad coming into this places with enclosures so dirty the ferret cages where so gross there were flys in the enclosure there was even a dog toy inside COVERED in poop. I know how dirty ferrets are but this was crazy dirty, petco does better keeping their ferret enclosures clean then they do.They have chicks and although cute very over crowded and dirty :( the hamsters other small animals also had no enrichment at all! I came in a few times before when they first opened and I was really excited but now it seems like they care more about quantity over quality it's really upsetting honestly. I really really hope they make changes to how they care for all their animals very very soon..... read more

I've been going to this location since they opened and I've been really happy with them. I just wanted to say they are doing such a great job during COVID-19 times. On Saturday I needed two 50 pound bags of feed... I called the store, they rang me up over the phone and carried both bags out to the car.
