I was pretty turned off by the rude employee I encountered today. As soon as I entered, I asked if they carried PuraVita dog food. The gal working said "that's a clothing and bracelet line, NOT dog food." I was taken aback by her snotty tone, but showed her on my phone the brand's website, PureVita by Nutrisource. I was off by one letter "Pura" vs. "Pure". She just replied, "No, we don't carry that." This was my first experience after Gordy's Goodies closing, and will look elsewhere next time for my new regular spot. Not only rude and speak down to customers but obviously not knowledgeable about dog food brands. read more

There HAS NOT been a time i walked in pet planet (this location specifically) that if i asked a question that i got a short answer or felt like they did not know what they were talking about. You can tell that each employee is educated about the food and all products that they sell. If anyone says other wise, they're wrong. A little disappointed in the selection and lack of attention from the employee. It's a smaller store where I was looking for a more hypoallergenic brand of dog food. Didn't see too much besides "limited ingredients" labeling on a few bags. Call me crazy but if I was an employee and saw the ONLY customer in my store wandering up and down the same/only dog food aisle for 10 minutes, I'd probably ask if they needed help or a suggestion instead of continuing to be on my cellphone the entire time. Unfortunate experience since this store is so close to my house. Best of luck to this business, but I'll just continuing shopping elsewhere for my pet needs. read more

So my dog is a pit rescue and we have had her on a specific food due to stomach issues and valley fever. Gordy's closed so I figured I would try pet planet! Well, they gave us the wrong food- preordered- picked up by my hisband( he had no clue) ! Dog had been sick for a month, so I went in and Paige the asst. manager admitted they gave wrong food and were waiting for me to come back! Hmmm, why wouldn't they call me and tell me if mistake? Decided to give owner a chance to make it ok, nope, excuses ! So disappointed ! Will never recc or other again! I am blown away by the lack of responsibility. Gave me a refund! Know they messed up, yet thought there was another side to story! No! No other side , you knew you gave wrong food, didn't call and now my dog is super sick! Shame on you! read more

This particular local pet shop is actually owned by a local owner of this store aside from the other store being a franchise, I think their the only one here that bought and actually owned it. The store is organized and neat, it can use a little dusting, but they have a great variety of good brand pet foods. You can ask for samples and have your pet try it before purchasing them. A bit more pricey, but they also have sales items and unique printed designs in their harness, collars and leashes. Unlike the other plain o boring design of those pet accessories from other business competitors, this shop have some really cute items for your pet. read more

I've always had a great experience, the staff is friendly & helpful. I used to go to the major chains, but now solely buy from Pet Planet.

Such a convenient location right next to Trader Joe's and across from Early Baker it's a Fun Run when I have to go there for an errand! Excellent customer service. Good selection of pet "stuff" including healthy snacks and silly toys. GREAT advice when you run out of food for your Littles and find out it has been discontinued. APPRECIATE the extra time the owner took to help me pick out a reasonable substitute food plus a couple of cans of Fruitables "Switch" which appears to have done the trick. Found this place after dog and cat started to have issues with food. This place is always clean and friendly. I don't know how I always find something I did not go in for at this store. We have gone in enough that we know what food we are looking for. In the beginning though we were not sure. The friendly employees would often look up what we had purchased last time and advise us. YES! Great customer service. When we have concerns they are knowledgeable enough to recommend a product for us to try. So far they have not made a bad recommendation. The prices here are not bad and compare with store prices. Love that this is local and offers a great customer experience. Oh and I just found out they take donations of cat or dog food and blankets. Donations are taken to local shelters. Even if you did not buy the food there, you can bring it in for donation. Yay! Helping the community, got to love a business that does that. I always see this store when I go to Trader Joe's so one day my sons and I decided to stop in for a couple dog treats. Very nice and clean. The staff was friendly and welcoming. My children are young and can't help but touch everything and even still the staff treated us very kind :) We got a few of the dog treats that you bag yourself. Decently priced and my pup enjoyed them. When going to Trader Joe's, I often see they have adoption events and what not. Great place! read more

The employees here make this chain store seem like it is your local Mom & Pop pet store. The ladies are EXCELLENT at customer service. Anywhere they go in life, they will succeed; I'm sure of it! The products here are your typical high end pet store products. I come here for the bully sticks, the Cloud Star products and my dog's favorite toy (she always seems to lose it, I buy a new one, she loses that one and then I find the old one, not the replacement). I don't buy my food here, as it is a little too pricey for me. It's definitely the BEST pet store in the area. The employees KNOW the products they are selling. They TRULY love animals. What more could you ask for? P.S. This place is like a Cheers for pets and pet owners. When you visit, you are remembered. It's nice to have interactions like these instead of being a nameless face at one of the big box stores. read more

They have smaller sized samples of their products here so you don't have to fully commit to a large bag of food before finding out if your dog or cat likes it. I picked up some Acana grain-free kibble and a sample of Nature's Instinct raw chicken, and they have a frequent buyer program where you get 1 bag of food free for every 12 (I think) that you buy. read more

***I AM REVIEWING THE PET PLANET - COLLEGE PARK LOCATION*** I have gone to the Pet Planet listed 3 times and love it! 5150 S Rural Rd Suite 106 Tempe AZ 85282 / 480-897-9790 I went in out of curiousity with my boys one time and the Haley (red head) was so nice. She talked to me about my dog and had suggestions on food and treats. She talked about some products they had and really cared about everything I told her about my baby, Bruno. We came back that following Sunday and used their Kiosk and got some good suggestions for our dog. My husband came with me this time and Bruno was with us. There was a blonde lady working there (forgot her name, please don't take it the wrong way, my brain is gone!). She was super nice too. She talked to us and welcomed Bruno. She showed us the self dog wash room and made herself available if we had any questions while we walked around. The things I love the most about this place are the staff and selection of products. They have both been so amazing and are happy to answer all questions I have. And the blonde staff member called me today (Sunday, 4/27/14) to see how Bruno was doing and how he liked the samples they gave us. SERIOUSLY! I have NEVER been called by a pet store staff member to see how my dog was doing. (Oh wait, I have been called our trainer, Billie, at PetsMart for follow-up on Bruno's progress.) But that's it! She was happy to hear that we changed his food to a product they sell, Horizon Complete, and he loves it. She told me to come over or call anytime I have a question and hopes to see me and Bruno soon. *jaw drop* Now that's customer service with an A+! They have a wide range of natural wholesome dog food and treats from raw to dry/packaged. My dog loves Zukes and Blue treats a lot and Pet Planet has a nice range to choose from. I even noticed their raw food section in the back and am planning on coming back to get Bruno a nice yummy bone as a treat soon. We will continue to go to this store for our dog's needs. read more

So, I've never been a big fan of pet food stores. I feel like I can always get a better deal somewhere else. But I went to the store, Kearsten who helped us out was really nice and the store is laid out nice and it's clean and their prices match Amazons prices (they don't price match with Amazon, at least not that I know of. But the prices match amazons, in fact sometimes they're cheaper) Support local stores! The food that Kearsten recommended for our cats worked out really well and our cats craved the food. They're a lot happier now with it! read more

We visit for healthier doggie food than most mass produced stuff, & the occasional dog toy. A great experience every time, and they get to know their customers to a surprising degree. Once I bought a toy plastic egg here, suggested by one of the employees, and when my wife returned that employee asked her how the dog was liking it. Go-getter attitude too, they always ask if they can help before you ask your first question. Wow. I am dealing with three adult cats who are all sick from the new kitten we adopted. It has been a sad, stressful couple of weeks. I treated myself to breakfast at pomegranate cafe and then I spotted pet planet. I thought I would pop in to see if they had the L-lysine chews a friend recommended. Indeed they did, in their beautifully stocked and well-kept store. The woman working, Julianna, helped me find them and then asked me if I was in the system as she rung me up. When she learned that it was my first visit, she asked if she could prepare a welcome gift for me. Out came a cute reusable tote and in went two toys for my cats. When I told her that they were sick and not eating, she tossed in a can of Tiki Cat wet food and a can of premium tuna and shrimp. She also gave me a sample of shelf stable, grain free raw food and all natural treats. She put in coupons and a decal we can fill out to alert first responders to the animals we have inside. She put the names of my treasured babies in the computer, explained to me the store's quality and standards policies, showed me a bunch of healthy natural foods to consider and explained about their price-match policy, and wished me the best. This was not a hard sell; this was straight up sincere, compassionate, friendly customer service. I was totally impressed. Better yet, this visit was an encouraging bright spot when I have been utterly distressed about my animals. I was so grateful for Julianna's warmth and generosity. And! My cat who is so congested he won't eat anything ate a few bites of the tuna, and one of my recovering kitties played with her mouse and downed a lysine chew. I highly recommend stopping in for all of your pet needs. If you have any question about what you're currently feeding your pet, Paul can answer them. He can also recommend the best products for your pet. The store is in a great location. It's also set up in a way that makes shopping easy.
