PMRS is a find.... dare I say a "gem"? Yeah, I said it. I found them via a Yelp search, which is how everyone else finds anything these days anyhow, and it turns out I have been driving right by them 3x week for the last 2 years. Everyone has that "stuff" in a drawer that they don't know what to do with so these are the guys to call when you are worrying that your junk drawer is starting to overflow, or maybe you just want to get rid of that stuff your ex-boyfriend/husband gave you. I called Larry and was in their office about 30 minutes later. Lots of (free) parking in back as well as the lot right next door. Unlike those sketchy places you think about when people tell you they are selling jewelry, metals, etc. you are watching them weigh the item(s), so you know exactly how much it weighs. Extremely easy, fast and smooth A+++ The rest of this is optional to read. I had a sterling silver service for 10 that I wanted to sell. I tend to do a lot of research, but I am very aware that I do not always get it right. To complicate things, the "spot price" of pure silver had recently shot up. I called Precious Metals Reclaiming Service's 800 number and was quoted a very good price. (I am in Houston.) Be very careful selling precious metals. There are a lot of cheats that try to confuse you with, "If you sell to anyone else, you left money on the table." Some of those offered me half or less than I got from Precious Metals Reclaiming Service. The silverware was beautiful, I did NOT want to melt it down, but the best silverware dealer I could find only offered me 60% as much as Precious Metals Reclaiming Service. Most Reclaiming Services would only buy from Antique Dealers, Pawn Shops and other businesses in the trade, who wanted a big percentage of my money. Precious Metals Reclaiming Service was friendly, fast, honest and made sure that I understood exactly what they proposed. When you mail a box with $2,400 in it, off to a stranger, you need to trust them. BBB said that they were "A+" and I completely agree. PS, any company wants to save time. Be clear and succinct on the phone or mail. The knives of my service has stainless blades glued into a very thin walled sterling handle with sort of plaster or concrete. With some difficulty, I cut the handles open with one of the other knife blades and a hammer, using the knife blade like a chisel. KIDS, DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! It would be very easy to have cut off a finger or had other injury. But, I was able to send ALL sterling and so there was no confusion about the weight, and I saved them time. (The sterling silver for my knives was 17 grams per handle of a knife that weighed perhaps 4 times that.) This allowed them to give me the best possible price. That day, Spot pure silver was $30.61 /troy ounce or 0.984134 /gm. Therefore 92.5% silver, like sterling is, would be $0.910324276/gm, so he was offering me 90.20% of all he could possibly get. This was as good as the best of the wholesale only places. He was going to some trouble to make 10% or much less if the market dipped. Most places wanted to double their money at my expense. Also, sending registered mail slows it down a lot. Priority Mail took a week from Houston to Massachusetts. This would have been expensive for me if the price had dropped. read more

Very trustworthy company. They even deal in small amounts of gold such as a removed gold crown from your dentist that is a mix of metals. Mailed my first one into them a few years ago and was surprised to get a phone call from them explaining how they valued it. It was very small but PMRS said it had $20.00+ worth of gold in it and sent a check. Since then I have shipped them 2 more crowns I have had removed/replaced and received a check in less than a week. These guys are tops! I wonder how many people never ask their dentist for precious metals removed from their mouths and the dentist surley does send them somewere for reimbursment.
