Despite this, the shop proceeded to run their own diagnostic anyway, keeping my vehicle for approximately 45 minutes, only to come back with a completely different conclusion: that the issue was the turbo. This directly contradicted the prior professional diagnosis, which included a full day of testing, a smoke test (with no leaks found), and no signs of power loss--factors that do not typically support a turbo failure. What was most frustrating was not just the disagreement, but the refusal to stay within the scope of the work I requested. I came in with a clear, defined repair, and instead of addressing that, the conversation was redirected toward a much larger and more expensive issue that I had already ruled out. When I expressed my frustration and made it clear that I would be taking my truck elsewhere, I was then told they would go ahead and perform only the repair I originally requested. At that point, however, the situation had already eroded my confidence, and I no longer felt comfortable trusting them with the work. Adding to my concern, I later noticed similar patterns mentioned in other reviews--situations where customers felt problems were escalated or misdiagnosed, only to result in higher repair costs. I understand that shops may have differing opinions, but professionalism includes respecting the customer's request, especially when it is backed by documented evidence. At minimum, I expected transparency, clear communication, and a willingness to either perform the requested repair or simply decline the job--not redirect it.
