They did a complete health report on the vehicle came back all good, as opposed to others that told me I needed a bunch of other things. After spending $3100 on an alignment an AC actuator the vehicle had to be returned TWICE. Once because the AC was never cold as previously throughout the entire vehicle. Secondly, no CLEAR explanation was given of why after 5 years of ownership that after they dismantled the dash the Check Engine light came on and the vehicle experienced rough shifting issues? Since purchasing a 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan two years ago for my daughter, I have taken the car to two garages/mechanics for service. The car had 152,000 miles on it at the time of purchase and it cost me $4500. I knew it would need a complete overhaul to get it running well for a few more years of life to permit my daughter to get her driving experience and take her to college. And it did the job. Recently we noticed the car breaks needed service and we wanted to find a new garage that would also address the other issues as well. None of the other garages/mechanics addressed the biggest issue of all - the vast oil leaks coming from all gaskets and burning oil all over a hot engine whenever the car was running. The smell of oil fumes in the car during and after driving it. None of the other garages/mechanics had attempted to fix this. None answered me when I mentioned the smell of burning oil. Then we found German Car Depot online and decided to bring the Tiguan to them. After listening to our concerns, Eddie who was our service advisor suggested a complete inspection be done (at a cost). A full detailed report was given to us, prioritizing each issue and its price. The breaks were replaced first and then we looked at the other concerns. Eddie sent pictures of parts that were damaged and of oil leaks for us to look at. As each part and service was completely itemized separately, German Car Depot tackled one job at a time as per our consent until we were able to fix all oil leaks. We were kept informed with pictures of all repairs being made as the work progressed during a few days. No traces of oil anywhere as car was cleaned. Pictures of the new parts were also sent to us. We could compare the damaged parts with the new parts. When I purchased the Volkswagen Tiguan, I knew it could be fixed for a few more years of use for my daughter to learn and be safer in an SUV. But only German Car Depot took the time and put in the vast work for the Tiguan to feel like new. We are so happy and grateful. Thank you Eddie. Do yourself a favor and don't let German Auto Depot (GAD) anywhere near your performance car--they'll try to take you for a ride. My Audi R8's AC went out, and the dealer quoted $10k for 10hrs of work with a 12mo warranty. GAD swore they could beat that, so I took it in. Their grand plan? A whopping 38 hours, $11.5k, and a 24mo warranty. I did some calling around, and every other shop said 10-12 hours tops. I told GAD their numbers were way off, and their response? "We know better, our tech wrote the Volkswagen manual. Take a hike." So, I did. Got it fixed elsewhere for less than half of what GAD quoted, and it came with a 7yr warranty. Whether it's cluelessness or bad will, I wouldn't trust these guys with a Hot Wheels, let alone a high-performance car. read more

Volkswagen -- Folks Car, or "The People's Car". Yeah, I'm not sure about that, just from the difficulty of self repair! What I'm sure about is German Car Depot! I consider myself a car guy. I do the majority of my own work yet when my family grew from one VW (my wife) to TWO VW's (my daughter), I was a little bummed. Why? Because German engineering is, in my opinion, slightly over-engineered! When I did the brakes on both cars, I needed, even for a 2001, a computer to compress the rear caliper piston. That's when I knew, when my daughter's water pump on her 01 Jetta went out, I wasn't going to mess with it. It's a timing job -- my garage has a lot of tools, but I don't want to spend a weekend cursing when German Car Depot can charge me reasonably and have it done in a day. That's just what they did. Monday the water pump goes out. Tuesday I called them and they actually have a tow service they partner with so the car was towed to their shop. The tow driver, Frankie, was excellent by the way. Wednesday, Eddie calls me up and states that my suspicions are correct--the water pump. Gives me a quote and says that they'll start ASAP on it. Friday I pick it up and meet Eddie. Nicest guy you'll meet, especially in the car repair industry. Gave my daughter some pointers on maintaining her 22 year old People's Car and even complimented how great it was for its age. To some of the complaints I've seen, I've owned either Japanese or American cars. Know this: if you're getting a German car, it'll be pricey to repair. Parts are expensive. Which is why I personally won't own one, even though my lovely ladies do. Also, as mentioned, a simple water pump is a relatively intense job...on a 22 year old car! I can't imagine a newer one. I've had experiences at Audi AND VW dealers and I trust German Car Depot more than them. As well, their labor rate seems to be almost half of what the dealership charges. read more

Let me emphasize again -- the price was supposedly justified because they take photos and consider themselves artists in their craft. I dropped off my car cause it needed some work done on it. When I got the car back it was covered in sap and other stuff. I went home to see if I could clean it. I'm not clay baring my car for hours and hours. I called the place and they told me to bring it back in. When I got there, the first thing they told me I was a liar, I dropped of the car like that, and even one person said he won't wash that "piece of shit" again. Nice thing to say after I just paid almost 1600$. Funny enough before they do work they take pictures of the car inside and out so this stuff don't happen. You can clearly see that there was nothing on my car when it was dropped off that day. THEY TOOK THE PICTURES. So when I showed the pictures THEY TOOK of my car when dropped it off and when I picked it up ARE 100% different. Even after showing proof of it they didn't wanna admit they were wrong, or say sorry for calling me a liar. They just kept saying "that doesn't happen over night" it was there for 24hours, it rained heavy that evening. Never going back again. Waste of time and energy dealing with stupid people. We show up to pick it up the car is doing worse and the guy tells us his opinion is to sell the car. After he diagnosed the car he could've saved us the time and money we spent by letting them work on our car. Unfortunately after going to this business for the past five years last Friday's visit was the last. It started out years ago all butterflies and rainbows. Now it just became another business that could give two shits about it's customers. My Mercedes Benz CLK 350 has had a lot of work done without issues. Than the last few years it started when hubby requested not once but numerous times to get the tires rotated instead they would give it back without this done and said basically they know better. Well hubby is a tire guy that's what he does professionally for 30 years. Last September brought the car in again and asked for a tire rotation not only don't we know if it was done or not but I get a light on my dashboard to check tire pressure after I leave this place. So I text them with no response and say I just left did you rotate the tires and why upon leaving would this light go on if the job was done? Nothing not a word so I get my tires checked where I bought my tires and they gladly balance out the tires and check them. So last week I bring in my vehicle to get the brakes done, as I was told I needed this service last visit. Also I ask to add power steering fluid. When I pick up the car the guy I spoke with was not there and the person cashing me out was in a rush. Pleasantly surprised my car was washed but that only made the visit more humorous. You see on Yelp it says they wash your car with service. For five years they have never washed my car I just gave up asking. In fact last time they told me they stopped due to Covid?! Whatever anyway when I left they answer my text from September 2020 and say they checked the tires a little late don't you think? I came to the German Car Depot (GCD) for repairs related to the gasoline smell in my car. GCD replaced the fuel rail, coils, and plugs for a cost of over 2k. Upon leaving, there was a constant tapping noise not previously there. I called and returned to see if it was safe to use the car. The manager and mechanic listened to the car and, within a few minutes, concluded it was the timing chain. They suggested I trade my car in since buying an engine was expensive. They said if the car stops running, I can "expect to only get $600-$800 for it." The vehicle had less than 60,000 miles. For a second opinion, I dropped the car off at a nearby shop. The mechanic quickly concluded that the timing chain was not an issue and asked where the other repairs were done. The second shop then called GCD to see if they removed the injectors, which would explain the noise. GCD responded, "Absolutely not." An absolute misrepresentation! In fact, the noise stemmed from the seals not being put back on after the injectors were removed. Once the second shop replaced the two cylinders, the noise disappeared. The cost was over $1.2k. The idea that German Car Depot would try to convince me that I needed to spend 10k for a new engine is terrible just to cover up their mistake is beyond scamming. My reasonable request was reimbursement for what I paid and the cost of a car rental. The owner said he would get back to me - but he never did! I'm done with this shop! Do not trust them! read more

After reading the excellent reviews, I decided to make the trek from Oakland Park down to Hollywood to have some mechanical issues on my VW cc addressed. The guys at the shop are extremely professional and friendly. They did a complete inspection of the issues and provided me a detailed report back. We then decided what to tackle and they completed the repairs in one day. The shop is clean, organized and I would definitely go back, and probably will. They forgot to put coolant back and from there it was a shit show. Blaming everything but themselves. I spent over $10K for a list of repairs that had nothing to do with my car not starting and instrument panel malfunctions, most likely due a reversed battery polarity. They had my car for over two months. They claimed it was due to a bad ground with my backup camera (which is an OEM VW Part). When I got it back the rear window defroster didn't work and certain functions of the instrument panel were missing which I had before all this. When you first get there they really make it seem like they know what they're doing and they're going to fix all your problems and it's going to be ready fast and done for a reasonable price. Well that definitely wasn't the case. The first time we took this car here we left it so that they could run diagnostics on it and the main guy we dealt with who's name is Scott (the biggest clown of the batch) later called him to let him know what the issue was and that it was going to be about $1500 to fix. Granted, that's a lot of money but we were expecting to have to pay a little more so we thought it was great. We left the car overnight to get fixed and picked it up the next day and it seem to be riding a lot smoother and the issues were gone. The next morning when my boyfriend got ready to go to work the car wouldn't even turn on. He had to take my car to work and later on we tried to test drive the car and we barely made it around the block. Five months after my terrible experience I have been contacted by bots numerous times as if we are buddies, now the owner takes the time on Thanksgiving weekend to let us all know: "There are reasons we replace certain parts. 25 years working on German cars teaches us a lot about keeping our customers safe" which is a bit silly since EVERYBODY has a REASON for EVERYTHING they do. The problem is and always was the reason wasn't because they did some work and determined the part was bad, it's because most of their customers take their word for it and he can get them to pay ten times what it actually cost to fix the vehicle. For all the TLDR on the original review German Car estimated $1137 and it was a$52 part that had nothing to do with anything in their estimate. My experience with GCD was great. Everybody I spoke with were extremely nice and accommodating. I love the email system that they use telling you the condition of your vehicle. I was originally scheduled to take my vehicle to the dealer and they beat their price by at least half. The only issue that I found which I am mentioning only to be completely honest is, I did not think the time that it takes to look at the car or repairs was explained completely as I was under the impression that my car would be ready the same day as I was off the day I brought it in but had to work the next day and would have needed it but luckily my wife was off so I took her car.
