Well I can finally say I have found a mechanic in SD! Wow, absolute gems to work with! So freaking helpful with my car issues that didn't even end up being issues! I am a woman so yes I always tend to think the worst of car problems. Conducted MULTIPLE tests on my car (which at a Firestone would be like $100 per test!) I've been going to Popov since he owned the place next door. He mainly works on European autos and he's done a lot of work to my BMW and my friends Audi. In all honesty he reminds me of the guy James Bond has to get the nuclear codes from who poses as a mechanic, which is half the reason I go to him. That and he can usually diagnose a car in under 2 min. Honest, accurate, professional and 100% chance he has nuclear codes. Id go to this place anytime for any problem. read more

So after a horrible experience at a another company, I went to this repair shop because I was referred there by a smog company. Mark the owner is absolutely fabulous! My 2005 Toyota would not pass smog. He found the issue, fixed it fast, and barely charged me. He also explained exactly what happened and why. I took my 2008 Smart Car to Mark because it would not come out of park from time to time and now getting more frequent. He did a great job on determining the problem, ordering the part, and installing it. I also had a lot of rat damage inside the engine and he took care of this and even went and power washed some of the parts that were dirty. I highly recommend him and will be taking my car back to him when repairs are needed. He is a great choice. read more

By far the absolute best automotive experience I've ever had!!! In short, I randomly pulled into the parking lot after my Honda prelude started acting strange on the freeway (i.e. Check Engine light on, Oil Light flashing, and little puffs of smoke coming from under the hood). Definitely not the best feeling, however, like a miracle I ran into one of the mechanics, Jordan, in the parking lot who graciously took a look under the hood during his off time and recommended the exact oil I needed which was available across the street at the Honda dealership. (Fast forward). When I returned back to the shop, Jordan had already spoken with Mark (shop owner), who offered to put my car up on the lift, and identified exactly where my leak was, why the light came on, any future problems I might want to think about (i.e. tires) and helped top off the oil and put in a new filter. Additionally, Mark personally called the Honda dealership and helped me get the required part (O-ring) for next to nothing. (AGAIN, this was all after hours!!). Perhaps the icing on the cake was when it was all said and done, Mark considered it a New Year's Eve present, and only requested a cup of coffee during my next visit to the area. To me finding a legitimate/trustworthy mechanic has always felt like searching for a "Unicorn" or "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow, and you wonder if they truly exists? Well they DO!!! And they're at Precision Automotive! For as long as I live in San Diego, I will be a loyal customer. P.S. Had a great experience with Precision Automotive! I brought my car to Mark after I was rear ended and my alternator stopped working. He was thorough in assessing my entire car, even calling the insurance company to ask above coverage and to make sure I'd be covered with a rental car. He made sure I understood exactly what my car needed. I was provided with options and fair prices. The entire time Mark was professional, trustworthy, friendly, and knowledgeable. Well lets just say this is THE place for your auto repair. Mark is the best, no B.S. Specializes in foreign cars, doesn't do alot of domestic, but will if it's not a major job. My Chevy van was spewing oil out the bottom, my batt. was dead, & I was stuck at a Home Depot pking lot. I thought it was somthing major, like a rear seal. I usually fix my own vehicles, if I can't fix it, I like to at least know whats wrong with it so I don't get burned. Anyway, Mark,(the owner) came out with a jumper & some oil.(I had spoken to him earlier & told him my situation), so we put oil in, jumped it &he diagnosed it right there. Turns out it wasn't as big a problem as I thought. Anyway, long story short, I knew he was straight with me & went out of his way to help me, even after hours! I totally trust this place. read more

Two thumbs up. Mark runs a small little shop on Mission Gorge just off 8. I took my Camry in to the dealer for regular maintenance and they came back alerting me that I needed close to $1,600 in repair work done. I took it to Mark and he successfully made all the repairs for less than $500. I'm recommending him to all my friends and make the same recommendation to you. The only drawback is that he's just one guy, so if he's busy, it might be a couple days before he can get to your car. read more

Love this place!!! I was referred to Mark Chapman, the owner, through a friend. I had taken my 2001 VW Jetta to City VW multiple (and I mean 5-7) times to figure out WHY the check engine light kept coming on. City VW "fixed" my car each time, each time charging me, of course, since the supposed "issue" was never under warranty. Each and every time, about 100 miles later, the *^$%#@!! light would come back on. As soon as I found out about Precision Automotive, I took the car there, and VOILA!! Mark fixed my car, the right way! Shockingly, he told me he discovered previous "repairs" where things had not been put back together properly (he even showed me photos). I give him 5 stars for going the extra mile, he really took the time to make sure the car was fixed the right way and working properly before giving it back to me. AND he stayed within his original quote, even though the repairs took a bit longer than he originally thought. I will never take my car anywhere else. read more

I also went to Mark due to a referral from a friend, and I wish I had done so years ago. He treated me like an adult despite my woman-ness and was totally straightforward about everything he was doing and what needed to be done (and told me which things were likely to cost more if I left them until later, as opposed to lower priority things).
