I went as a walk in 5pm, good thing she accepted me. I asked if I can have an ash blue color but she said it won't be achievable since it's my first time. So she suggested what kind of color and did an ombre blonde and I loved it! Everybody loved my hair, too. Will definitely come back and make sure to make an appointment next time. read more

I don't normally pay more than 15 dollars for a haircut because from past experience I am usually disappointed with it. But I was very satisfied with my haircut this time and the 21 dollars was worth it ! They wash your hair before and after and add product and teach you how to get your desired look. I have been coming here for a while and the quality of work from May has been deteriorating immensely. She will book several customers at a time making you wait for a long time, even in between your haircut. Lately, I have been getting bad quality hair cuts. My wife usually comes here for a perm, but May makes her wait so long. In the middle of working on my wife's hair, another customer will show up and May will stop working on my wife's hair so she could cut another person's hair! She had to wait on 4 other guys' haircuts before May returned to my wife's hair. At least finish your current customer first. In the end, you end up with bad quality work. My wife still spend the same amount of time straightening her hair in the morning as if she didn't get her hair perm in the first place. read more

I noticed that my hair became more and more damaged every time I did a japanese straight. It looked lifeless, felt dry, and was unnaturally straight. Its a small salon, a hole in the wall really, with parking either out front on the street or the small lot in the back with the few open spaces, so don't expect special treatment like free drinks while you wait or anything else like that. Wash, cut, rinse, dry, a little styling = $25. This is the place when you grow out of getting the Asian fade and need a new style but don't want to go to the fancy salon with at least double the prices. I started coming to Precision Hair Design soon after I moved back to SoCal. I've been having Joyce cut my hair for about 7 years now. The way I found this place was completely random. I dropped my car at an autoshop and started walking. Looking for something to do like maybe get a haircut with only $20 in my pocket? I began walking aimlessly down Valley Blvd. I came across some more expensive places, checked their prices, and kept walking. That's when I saw this hair salon. The storefront isn't anything special. It's like any other Asian hair salon in San Francisco. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Joyce. Since I only had $20, I asked her right off the bat if that was enough for a haircut . I think the cut itself was about $18 or $20, but she told me, if I like what she does I could be a return customer. The autoshop called while I was getting my haircut and she offered to drive me to pick up my car. She's offering this to the girl that can barely pay for her haircut and leaves a lousy/non-existent tip. That just caught me by surprise. I told her it was ok and that I didn't mind walking. But the fact that she offered was buy-in for me. Joyce is a genuinely sweet person and I knew that from day one. I've gotten haircuts and color w/ highlights from her many times. She takes her time on my long hair. She doesn't rush through when she has other customers. I always get great results and she does wonders thinning out and layering my crazy thick Asian hair. I have major trust issues when it comes to cutting my hair because I've had many bad experiences in past and I was just never truly satisfied with the outcomes. It's been a year since I've last gave my hair a trim so I thought it was finally time for another one. I searched for countless hair salons and came across Precision Hair Design since it was close by to where I was. After reading through several reviews, I was a bit hesitant since I noticed the price for a woman's haircut was starting at $40 and that's a bit pricey for me considering I've never paid more than $20 for a haircut before. I decided to give it a try so I gave May a call to see if she had time to work on my hair and she said she was available so I quickly made my way over to the salon! :) The moment I came in, I was greeted by May herself and was told to have a seat. May came over to my seat and asked me how I wanted my hair to look so I told her my situation. Right off the bat, she understood what I had in mind and made sure to get my approval before she began to cut my hair. She trimmed my hair for a bit, washed it, blow dried it, continued trimming a bit more, then straightened my hair. Throughout the entire process, not only did May take her time to work on my hair so it would turn out the way I want it, but she also made sure I felt comfortable. After she was done, she held the mirror to let me see my hair and oh my gosh, I was beyond satisfied with how it looked! The length was perfect and exactly how I wanted! I told her it's the first time where I'm genuinely happy with the result of my haircut and she was very pleased to hear. :) Overall, I am glad I stopped by to get my hair done. I came here a couple weeks ago for a Japanese Hair Straightening treatment. May did an excellent job and gave me great service. My hair is bleached, so she was very careful with my hair and gave me a good price on a perm and keratin bundle. She also gave me water and some yummy candies while she worked on my hair, since the process is quite long. She was extremely friendly. One thing is that they are cash only. I also go to May for my annual Japanese straight perm and she always does a fantastic job and at a very reasonable price, much more reasonable than the fancy salons in West LA. I recommended her to a business school classmate and she has also been going to May for years and years now. May also does a great job with haircuts and for $40, I get a shampoo and wash, cut, plus blow dry and styling, which I think is very reasonable.
