It's been a LOOONGG while since I've had a haircut from a salon, so I was a bit worried about the process. Parking was easy in the parking structure behind the building. Came into the salon asking for a basic haircut. I love how clean, spacious and well-lit the salon was. Carol took me in and whisked me to a quick wash before she cut my hair. Let me just chime in that her hands were magic. I would love to have her wash my hair and massage my head weekly. It felt so good when she was massaging the pressure points and relieving my tension around my temple and my neck. The shampoo smell was also so pleasant -- tea tree? eucalyptus? lavender? Who knows, it was heavenly. Carol took my simple hair cut request in mind and gave some suggestions based on my head structure and hair texture. I trusted her opinion and was glad I took her advice. This place has been my go to hair salon for the last 2.5 years. Cindy is amazing ! She does an amazing job every single time and achieves the near impossible. She can create platinum blonde highlights for me as a black/dark brown haired person in 1 sitting with medium length hair. She is able to achieve this while still preserving the integrity of my hair. They are open again for business! My first time here was back in March of 2019. Meeting Carol was such a blessing! I felt like the previous places I've been to did not care about their clients. I also got highlights for the first time and loved it. I went again last week because I desperately needed a trim and they finally reopened again due to COVID. I came here for the first time about a week ago. I recently cut my own hair short and wanted to get layers for volume. I booked with Carol and she was so kind! She was sweet over the phone and in person. I came on a Saturday when there was an event going on in Alhambra that I didn't know about. It took me forever to find parking. I called about 8 minutes past my appointment to let Carol know I would be late. She was very nice and understanding. When I got there, I showed her what I wanted and she replicated it on my short hair. I'm still getting used to the change, but she did a fantastic job. Can you believe I've lived in this area for over 20 years and I didn't know there was a salon here... I really should pay attention to my surroundings! Haha. I made an appointment with Cindy at 8 am! I know it was way too early but I wanted my hair done ASAP! She was so sweet enough to take me that early. I was being indecisive about the color I wanted my hair. I was thinking about blonde balayage or subtle purple. She was suggesting I try something different and knew I would look "cute" in the purple. Even though I'm already cute :( JK LOL. I took her suggestion and went with subtle purple! My first time doing a color color, so I was very nervous how this was going to turn out. Couple hours later, I LOVE IT!!!! ITS THE EXACT PURPLE I was envisioning. Very subtle!! I love it so much. Thank you! And thank you for trying to be careful with my hair. I have this issue where when someone combs my hair or yanks it hard- it really hurts till the point where I have a bad bad bad headache. I let her know beforehand and she kept asking the whole time "is this okay" "does this hurt?" And gently doing my hair. I really appreciate that. You have no idea when I go to other places, they pull on it to hard that I legit have some tears. She even kept making sure if I was comfortable or not. Literally best customer service. (She also gives good massages when she washes your hair. Next time, I'll be asking her for a 30 min head massage. Thank you very much. Hahahaah jk) All the employees/owner was super nice!!!!! I noticed a lot of details of customer service in this store and I love it! They're very accommodating!! There was this old cute lady sitting at the front and it was a bit sunny and one of the employees told her to sit in the back where there's shade. She even held her arm and walked her. That's so sweet. They really do care about customers. They also offered me some snacks/food! Like... what kind of service is that?! The best! It's also very clean!!!! Someone is always cleaning. Even though it's a salon... I barley see any hair on the floor. I also did wax and eye lash lift! The owner was super sweet and nice! Cindy saved the dignity of my hair. Lol I had a bad hair cut in October from another shop. And I let it grow out so I can trim it again. And I had a gift card/voucher to this salon that included cut and color. I've never colored my hair like EVER. So I showed Cindy photos and she knows her stuff. Walked me through everything and did an amazing job. She also blended my layers so that my hair has some texture and style. Definitely going back!!! Please listen to the other one-star review that says that their haircut was uneven and choppy. I wanted a simple trim with layers and I got this uneven straight looking mess. I still paid and tipped properly for her effort but this was a waste of $60. Now I have to go to another salon to fix this. On top of this, I just found out that I have cancer and have to manage medical appointments while trying to find another stylist to fix this as soon as possible. I attached a picture of the cut. I think it is about time I wrote a review. I have been going to Carol religiously for almost two years now. We have gone through numerous hair styles and numerous hair colors and highlights. She never dissapoints. She really takes the time tto listen and discuss options as well as giving a professional opinion. She takes her time and is an absolute perfectionist. I've been to numerous stylists and the cut usually looks good when you walk out of the salon but as soon as you wash it and style it yourself, you fall into that dreaded 2 week adjustment/grow out period. This has never happened with Carol and every cut grows out beautifully. Everyone in the salon is super friendly and its such a fun environment. I called Carol a day ahead to make an appointment with her after seeing all the great reviews on here. She is such a total sweetheart and she knew exactly what I wanted. Everyone working at the salon is sooo friendly and I could really tell they have an extremely loyal clientele. A good 6 inches of my hair was super damaged due to the many bleaching processes I went through for an ombre but I could not stand my hair feeling like limp, dead grass so I decided to chop off my hair :(. I made an appt to trim my hair... recommended to me by my friend. my hair was about to reach my lower back so i needed a trim real bad. the front desk lady told me to go to the back and put the plastic thing on and im like... what do i do after that? and shes like tell the girl whos cutting your hair that your ready... uh... shes cutting someones hair right now... ok just sit around her or something. uh... ok... great service? the lady who cut my hair was very nice and friendly.... BUT... before washing my hair she mentioned my hair was too long or something to wash... can i cut a bit of it off? ok. she marks above the bra line, thats fine. and we're talking blah blah and when she starts styling it i saw... i saw how short she'd cut my hair... it was just below my shoulders. ive never had my hair cut this short before and i was in shock. i couldnt believe that my trim... became a 6+ inch cut. i have naturally wavy hair and this would be so very hard to manage... now i have to go and consider getting a straight perm ($400+) so that i can have less of a hassel... in the end... i was not a happy camper. id go back but not to the same stylist. im not going to mention her name... read more

I got this real horrible perm in July. My long-time stylist had an off day. It's been crazy hair city since July. So, to try someone new and to see if it was time to move on from my beloved stylist, I tagged along with a friend to have Stu cut my hair. LOVE it. My hair actually has movement, isn't this crazy stiff, poofy, frizzy perm. He gave me some nice layers and took some weight off the bottom. Stu is also super nice. I would still love to find a good stylist in the Torrance area, but for now, trekking to SGV or Koreatown will have to do. On a completely, not make-it or break-it note, I'm not used to a salon not having a great changing area. PG &n Co is a little cramped in the back, so you have to hang your shirt or outerwear in their bathroom, instead of a changing room. And the staff's breakroom is out in the open in the back, which is no biggie (unless I guess it is for you.) Either way, loved my experience and loved Stu's knowledge of hair. :) read more

Carol is the best! First time I came in, my hair was a mess from a previous cut. It was extremely unflattering and poorly cut.. Just a huge disaster (on top of my already damaged hair). Carol gave me a new style, one that compliments my face shape a little better, and I'm so glad she did! She was attentive to what I wanted length wise and which way I want to part my hair, so I was extremely pleased with that. :) Came back again for a trim! As usual, great service and an amazing cut from Carol. She saw my hair was a little dry, and put some treatment in my hair. Based on my hair texture, I specifically asked for no layers and a straight haircut. Midway through the cut I noticed that the stylist gave me a haircut that is supposed to be popular 15 years ago. My hair is super choppy and uneven. I have never been so disappointed in getting a haircut. I have gotten better haircuts at Supercuts. For paying $50 I expected to get a mediocre haircut. ROAR! My name is Sing and I am happy I came to PG & Co. for my 1st (yes, FIRST) REAL adult haircut! Trust me, I am proud that I let go all of my hair insecurities to finally get a haircut after 9 months! I don't like to cut my hair that often because: 1. I have really thick, naturally wavy hair (my friends call my hair, "the Beyonce hair") 2. I have had horrible experiences in the past cutting my hair in the U.S. 3. It's really hard to layer my hair correctly because I have Mufasa hair. So when my hair has become unruly and big after 9 months of not cutting it, my mom finally pulled the plug and told me to get it done! (She even offered to pay me money for me...it got that bad) Since I probably won't visit Asia for another 3 months, I decided to scope out reputable hair salons on Yelp and the good reviews brought me here! I called a day in advance and asked which stylist had experience cutting thick and naturally wavy hair. The person who answered recommended Nicky and I AM SO GLAD SHE REFERRED ME TO HER. Nicky is seriously a godsend for my thick hair! She recommended me to dye my roots to the parts where I got my last dye job and offered me a good deal to get it done. She used 4 bottles of hair dye when they usually only use 1-2 for people...oops! It usually costs me $45-50 alone to cut my hair and $120-150 to dye my hair but she cut me a great deal! She even gave me a free deep conditioning treatment (usually $45) because my hair was dry from blow-drying it so often. When it came to cutting my hair, Nicky listened to my requests of how I wanted to look like and suggested ways to cut it so it would be easier for me to do daily upkeep. She took the time to layer and take away alot of the weight, so when she was done, I came out a new woman! My hair is shiny and smooth, and the color is just beautiful! THANK YOU NICKY! I will definitely come back to you, I've conquered my fear of getting my hair done! Note: There's a free parking at the humongous parking garage behind PG & Co, up to 4 hours! Cindybear and I usually make an appointment a week or two in advance and make a 40 minute drive out to go see Stuart. I'm sure the man is annoyed that I never have an inkling of what kind of haircut I want, which he deals with by asking me three different ways, "What kind of cut do you want?" followed by simple suggestions since he knows I hate styling my hair (that's right, no product, no hairdryer, no brush). Stuart's real entertaining to talk to, although I'm sure he could leave you alone in silence to stare at yourself in the mirror, too, if you wanted. My sister gets free bang trims because we let him in on a secret: I used to cut my own hair for two years in high school and my sister trims her own bangs. I think the man nearly had a heart attack. And while Stuart has never made fun of my plethora of white hair, my sister has yet to NOT point it out at each hair cutting. I told him I just make my sister pull out the strands in times of boredom (wait to you find out what we do in times of EXTREME boredom), instead of nudging me into coloring my hair, he told me to just snip them at the root since pulling out hair only decreases the chances of regrowth! So much learning to be had at a hair salon! They do make up, perms, and whatever else hair salons typically offer, but I stick to my $40 haircuts. I've had $10 and $15 haircuts at Vietnamese salons and Supercuts, I've learned my lesson. TMI (of the cute sort!): He styles his toddler-aged daughter's hair everyday! Her majesty insists upon it. Tip: He seems to know the area pretty well. We wanted dim sum and he sent us to NBC Seafood. We (okay, it was really me) got lost, called him up and he helped us out. On a different day, we wanted some dessert, he steered us away from Beard Papa's and sent us to an ice cream scoop shop down the road called Fosselman's. We got lost driving back and forth in a square mile section of Alhambra. And guess who walked us through our terrible sense of direction over the phone? read more

I came in today to chop off my hair for locks of love. I've never been to this salon before so I'm not going to lie when I say I was scared. Needless to say, I thought my bob turned out great. Everyone seemed pretty nice there, and Tia, my stylist, was super attentive and very accommodating. If you need someone to take time with your hair, she's the person to go to. So as an avid yelper! I was in desperate need of finding a hair studio that can fix my botched hair from previous salons. I looked up beauty salons in the area and there was something appealing about PG & Co. I called and made a appointment right away. I was fortunate enough to land a spot with Carol.. Seems like she gets a lot of shout outs on here and I could see why. Carol is so awesome! I told her what happened at my previous salon and I told her I just want to fix it and not bleach it. I told her I'm not to picky just make it look fun and summery. With that in mind she went to work right away! I must say I was pretty nervous about how it would come out. It took a few hours but the finish product was amazing. Better than what I had in mind. Carol managed to get my hair colour be one toned and she added some fun in the sun highlights. To top it all off, she did a great job on the hair cut. Leaving my hair nice, long, wavy and the bangs just right! She has achieved everything I wanted in a stylist. I've been recommending her to everyone! I've also gotten many many compliments, from guys and gals. I've been coming here since I was a little girl! Wow like 15+ years? I feel old..I went when they used to be on main street. Anyway I lovee them! I usually book with Pam or Stuart. Pam seems to always be booked so I go to her son Stuart when I really need a cut. Pam does an amazing job. She starts by asking what you want and often gives input or suggests what she thinks will be better for your face shape etc. As she cuts she gossips with you and talks about interesting things and she remembers pretty much everything the next time I go back :) I only get my hair cut here, once I got a bad cut somewhere else and Pam scolded me :( If you're not satisfied with your cut she says you can come back and she'll fix it up. If you're trying a new style, she'll give you tips on how to style it and make it look good when you get back home, how to change it up, blow dry etc. Pam also does an amazing job with makeup and prom hair. I went to her for both my proms and received complements about my hair and makeup the whole night. It took about 2-3 hours to do the whole makeup and hair but trust me it was worth it. Even though there's a bunch of youtube videos on how to do your hair and makeup for prom, just go here and get it done! It's nice to be pampered once in awhile and see the results! I have finally found my new home hair salon. Sandra, I heart you! I was introduced to this place by a good friend who said nothing but good things about this place. I was looking to fix up my short bob because I went to another place that did a not-so-good job with my hair. When Sandra worked on my hair, I looked almost like a totally new person. I have been getting compliments ever since. She knew exactly what looked good for my face. I brought my guy friend here and now all the ladies are going after him! Prices here are fairly reasonable ($40 for girls, $30 for guys; not including tip). Everyone is super friendly and very professional.They spend a lot of time on your hair, unlike other places where they trim and buzz as fast as they can to get you out of there. The facilities are very clean and you get your own private area when they work on you. Highly recommended! read more

FINALLY! This is the first time in a long time where I actually liked how I looked after I came out of a salon. I had Nicky and she was GREAT. She was super friendly and taught me a lot about what kind of cut would look good my type of hair. I don't have the typical thin, straight Asian hair. My hair is thick and a little wavy. Nicky knew what to do with it unlike most stylists I've gone to. Even though this place is pricier than the ones I'm used to ($50 for a cut), I still give it 5 stars for the service and the way my hair turned out. Everyone is super friendly and nice. For the last few months I've been going to Nicky. She is really sweet and really like her. She always does a really good job of recommending color / highlights when I am looking for a bit of a change. I always leave really happy with her suggestions and my "new" look. Rosario is amazing when it comes to styling hair for special events. I had her style my hair when I was in a wedding last year and she did a fantastic job. She is always super busy, so make sure you book early. My mom and I both love Stuart. He is really great (maybe even the best) at cutting and styling. As others have said, the prices here are very reasonable. which is why I travel from the South Bay area every few months just for my color and cut. I happened to stumble across this place a few months back and picked up a business card. I was growing my hair out to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lenths, and finally made an appointment at PG & Co. I asked for a hair cut that would allow me to tie my hair back in a pony tail. That was very important to me since I have a one year old baby and I really stressed this point. I described the hair cut that I wanted to my stylist, Tia. I wanted to keep as much of the length as possible, have some layers, and cute long bangs. I even brought in a photo. Tia said that it would not look good and that it would look like I cut it myself at home. I did not want it to look that way, so I conceded and went with her recommendation to get a bob. It turns out that Tia is a bob expert, which is great if you want a bob. Not only am I disappointed that I left the salon with a different hair style than the one I wanted, but I am mainly annoyed that I am not able to pull my hair up into a pony tail. I am just glad that 14 inches of my long locks will be going to a good cause and that it will grow back soon enough. read more
