Post-pandemic, post-bad-inflation, I'm still a committed June fangirl! Amazing work at prices that won't break the bank (especially when you have short hair that needs to be maintained every month)! I meant to update with pictures of my hair in vibrant colors (e.g. purple, red, magenta, etc.), but unfortunately, they are all performance/stage shots and I look crazier than my writing already makes me out to be. Just wanted to note that if you have dark hair, June is masterful at safely bleaching and coloring it! She managed to get me to a blue-silver without absolutely toasting my hair for all eternity. Not sure what black magic she invoked because I think it took three rounds of bleach... Love her work so much! read more

If you have very coarse and curly hair and need a japanese straight perm then June is the woman for you!! My hair is extremely thick and resistant to straightening and ive been going to her for years now to get my straight perm. I am always 100% satisfied with my results and my hair stays straight until it grows out so i dont have to get the treatment very often because she does such a great job. My hair is always so shiny and healthy when i leave the salon. Shes the only person i would trust with this hair treatment and her employee who helps her is also very nice and good with her work. It's amazing how much a hair cut costs nowadays. Type it into yelp and you'll get these top rated places, the only catch is it'll cost you $40-50. I'm not super picky with my hairstyles, sometimes I just want a simple wash & cut. This is the place. Keep in mind though that she moved across the street! So if you are stopping by, give her a call! Her assistant that helps wash your hair, spends a good amount of time giving you a scalp massage on top of the hair wash. The hair cut was very simple, I wanted a Lob and that's what i got. I have been coming to June for six years! She is a great hairdresser for any type of hair, but especially with straight Asian hair! Anytime I am in the San Gabriel Valley, I make sure to get my hair cut with her! She's on top of the trends and the latest ways to style hair. She is especially good at Japanese hair straightening treatments (around $150). I've been doing it for a while now, and the treatment lasts for at least a year. I was referred to June by my cousin who recently got the Brazilian Keratin Treatment for permanent hair straightening and I was completely pleased with what they did to my hair. Both mother and daughter run the place, very nice women! Offered pastries, fruits, and also water since the whole process took 4 hours and I practically spent the whole day there. Parking is street parking as far as I know, although it says 2 hours, I didn't get a ticket being there more than the allotted time. June is very meticulous with her work. She is a perfectionist and you will be pleased with your results by the end. I received a trim, and the treatment which came out to be 165. Very inexpensive, considering she also trimmed my hair. [Never doubt your hair stylist, aka NEVER DOUBT JUNE- ask and you shall receive ] First off, I made the mistake of trying a new salon per a friend's recommendation. Here's my tip to you, once you get your hair done from June, don't go anywhere else because you'll just have wasted your money and not getting what you wanted when you can just go to June for cheaper and better quality service plus getting EXACTLY what you want. I showed her(first hair salon) a picture of the color I wanted to dye my hair( I was looking for a medium brown base with natural caramel highlights), not only did I not get what I wanted.. My hair looked gold/streaky which was not at all what I wanted ( I was looking for a subtle look). She didn't even do the highlights to my roots so along with the fact that my hair looked gold and streaky, it looked like my hair had grown out for a couple months when in fact I had just gotten my hair done a couple weeks ago. A couple weeks later I came to June hoping she could fix my hair. I showed june the same picture I showed the first hair stylist and told her I asked for the color in the picture and this[my hair] is what I got as a result. June said exactly what I thought "this is nothing like the photo". She started from scratch- basically redyeing over the highlights to give me the medium brown base I wanted which is 6B If anyone looks/likes the hair color. June is absolutely amazing. She is very detail oriented, making sure every strand on my head is accounted for. The whole process (cut and trim ) took about 4 1/2 hrs and the price was 2/3 of the first place. If you want someone who will take the time to give you exactly what you ask for and for an affordable price, PLEASE DO NOT BOTHER WASTING YOUR TIME GOING TO A HIGH REVIEWED - TRENDY YELP PLACE THINKING YOURE GOING TO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I should've just listened to my mom and went to June's Salon in the first place- I could've saved money and be happy the first time I got my hair colored for the first time at a hair salon. She's amazing.. she's a really nice Thai lady, and she seems to understand my asian hair better than other place that I've been too.. I really highly recommend her. Also, besides the fact that she does a good job on layering and cutting my hair, she only charged me for $12. $12 dollars for a $35 style?? Seriously?? that is really cheap... A hairdresser that gets it right! I've been to many places around the San Gabriel area and most end up doing what they want instead of what you tell them to do. However, at June's I feel like I'm getting the haircut I want and not what the hairdresser wants. She is very meticulous. When I wanted my hair a little shorter, she actually made it just a bit shorter. She also fixed my sides to match the length so it would look proportionate. My wife and I have entrusted our hair to June for nearly 10 years now. She always respects our choices and delivers the haircut we want. June is a very friendly, yet professional lady. My wife has very high standards and incredibly, June consistently meets them. The thing is: she really understands Asian features and Asian hair. That sets her apart from a lot of other hairstylists. Btw, I'm a guy and I look for her to cut my hair every single time too. So she definitely doesn't have any problem cutting men's hair. I had my hair straightened here and although it looked nice right after, my hair was wavy again after I washed my hair 3 days later. It's a little straighter than before, but.. it shouldn't be wavy. June does a great job on my husband's hair. He's been going to her over a year now since he's moved to SGV area. She's really amazing. But you have to tell her what you want because she'll try to give you exactly what you want. She is not a mind reader, so don't tell her one thing and expect something else. I said this because my teenage son went there and told her to use #3 all over, and that's what he got, but he was not happy. It looks fine now, but at first it was too short. I told him he should have told her to leave a little longer on top, not use the same size all over his head. I got a cut from June once, and I liked how she did my back, but the bangs I think I'll do it myself next time. I am really picky with my bangs, and it seems no stylist ever figured out what I wanted. Again no mind reader! Since I don't think I communicated well exactly how I wanted my bangs, I will just do it myself. read more

I saw the reviews on Yelp and decided to give this place a try. I arrived about 5 minutes early for my appointment and was seated right away. June's mom helped shampoo and wash my hair. She was very thorough with her wash and it felt really relaxing! June was also very meticulous and did such a great job with my haircut, making sure that I was fine with the length and style. She did the whole job by hand and scissors (sometimes when I get layers, hair stylists will use a shaving tool, which can be damaging to your hair).
