I paid my first visit today, needing help trouble-shooting a stereo installation I did myself and couldn't get to work. The owner asked a tech to give me a hand, and the guy walked me though my wiring (which seemed to not be screwed up), verified that the fuses were all intact, and then got out his scope and discovered a loose connector. The charge? A couple of sodas from the deli across the street. This is old-skool customer relations, and it works... I *will* be back when I need something more substantial. read more

This is one of the worst mechanics that I have had to work with. Harvey is a good guy with a bad attitude and also bad communication skills and likes to rip off his customers. I went to go see him about my engine and instead of giving me an engine, he gave me a lemon. He did not provide any information for me about the engine except that it was used and in good condition. Took my old buick here to be rewired. Was referred to this place by a friend who said they rewired his car quickly and at a good price. Towed my car here, provided an EZ wire harness, tape and all connectors needed for the rewire. car sat in their driveway for weeks. I kept stopping by and asking how its going and they said they were working on it here and there. I noticed they only went thru the harness and separated some wires and nothing else. After 3 months I came back and said I was taking the car because he's done nothing to it. He said ok and that was it. I ended up rewiring the car myself. Took about 3 days. read more

I was referred to Harvey by MDK, a reputable car dealer in Burbank where I got my 2001 X5. I love this car more than my bank account obviously, and there is quite a bit of expense to keep it well maintained. I had some valve gaskets replaced last June when my check engine light came on. The previous mechanic charged me $600 to do the job, which seemed fair, since it's usually much more at BMW and still a lot more compared with other mechanics. 10 months later I find out that the valves are leaking and I'm losing massive amounts of oil. This hurts me to think I could've seized my engine, lost the car altogether and I never saw a check engine light for the second round. Only thing was the previous mechanic was in Vegas. I'm in LA. I brought it to Harvey on a Friday afternoon and he just gave it back to me with a full explanation. He showed me the old gaskets and showed me what to look for in the future. I live in burbank and i was looking for a good mechanic then i saw this place so decided to try it out. First time i talked to this guy harvey i was like this guy is kinda and trust worthy. So i let him do my timing belt and water pump on aug 8th 2009. The service was quick and the price was right but all of the sudden after 2 weeks my check engine turn on and my radiator was leaking. So i went back there again and charged me for another repair but its all good. On Jan 9th my clutch was acting up so i took it to harvey to see whats going on and he told the clutch master and slave was bad and it needs to be replace so i did that and it took him 4 days to fix so i was like i got no car for 4 days and ask some mechanics how long does it takes to fix and all of them told me that max 3-4 hrs and some will take 1 hr and half or 2 hours. So i was its fine coz harvey seems to be a nice guy. After a month my clutch is acting up again so i went back to this shop again and harvey told me that the clutch needs to replace i was like ok just do what ever u need suppose to do. It took him 3 days to do my clutch and charge me $199 fot the parts while on burbank auto parts only $121 so i was like it alright as long he does a good job i dont mine paying extra. After that day my problem didnt go away my clutch still mess up till today Aug 13th 2010 . My clutch was rough its like some spielled a coke on the pedal and i keep going back there 5 times and still didnt get fix. After 2 months the day he repair my clutch i found out that one transmission bolt was not on there and its was laying on the oil pan. So i came back on july 2009 and he told me im busy today come back next week and same shit next week. Recently i came back to that guy harvey again on Aug 13 2010 and told me just leave the key and i will work on it today. So i waited that day and no calls from that guy so i decided to him and ask him whats going he said im waiting for the parts but he doesnt know i keep going to his shop back and fort to check my car but so far it was park on the street and it seems it never move on that same spot. I called him friday coz its been 3 days i havent heard from him so same bullshit the parts havent arrived so i just decided to go in there pick up my car coz its too much and keep me waiting for 3 days he doesnt even do shit. I called autozone and guess what they have the parts in stock grrrrr. This guy harvey is nothing but liar and scum bag i will never come back to that nasty and lo class shop again. I missed work because of this piece of shit asshole!! Updates: I took my car again to harvey on Aug 18th 2010 wednesday coz he said he will change the clutch bearing coz it comes with the warrante that he was saying. So my car was done i picked it up around 5pm and he told me he changed the whole clutch kit then i was wow thanks. But when i drove my car it still the same shit and the sounds did go away. I told harvey about it and he said that thats not ur clutch its ur transmission now. I was like bullshit so i just decided to go other mechanic thats certified. My new mechanic took down fhe transmission and found out that its not proper installed and fucking percision motorsport mess it up!!! On top of that the clutch is bot brandnew i was like wow this harvey guy really trick me real good. After a day my car is like brandnew so beware of this scam bag i know his friendly but his monkey mechanic . Peace im out !!! read more

I definitely found my new car shop. As a girl, it's sometimes hit or miss finding a repair shop that has excellent service and won't rip you off. This is definitely the place to go. I needed to get a smog test, and my check engine light was on. They identified the problem quickly, and within hours had my car fixed and ready to go for the smog test. Look at all the reviews. 1 star or 5 stars, almost no in between. Does that tell you anything? I can say in my one year with Harvey, all the work he has done, I've had to redo since in the following year... having it re-done by my new, honest mechanic. I also found out the Delphi Fuel Pump he mysteriously had to replace three times in a row, due to a faulty part...(you know because Delphi is a premium brand that sends out faulty parts that don't work all the time to customers)..was actually an Airtex. The third one apparently works. (But it didn't, it's still doing the same thing I took it in for in the first place a year later.) He also charged me $285 for a $130 dollar fuel pump. Maybe he did buy the Delphi, but it just didn't end up in my vehicle. Of course Harvey is careful not to have proof of this since he doesn't put the correct part information on the invoice, or your mileage for that matter. How can he not guarantee his work, if you can't prove it was done at a certain mileage? Because he's a crook, folks. He puts used or substandard parts on your car, waaay over charges you, that is on the occasion he does any work at all, in the other case he will just bill you for doing nothing. Harvey and I have the exact same model car. Hope you enjoyed my new parts I paid for on your car, you scum bag! He was getting nervous at the end, because I think he could suspect the deception was getting ridiculous. Apparently, Rancho shocks just last two months before they need replacing, right Harvey? How many more should we have the manufacturer re-send? Is that after you asked me to double charge the manufacturer for labor so we could both make money? That's ethical. How about the differentials you serviced 8000 miles ago? My new honest mechanic said they were super dirty. I guess that means you charged my $130 FOR NOTHING! Imagine the damage to my vehicle down the road if I hadn't caught this elsewhere. I guess I would've had to have YOU fix it, right? Ouch! $$$. I had a feeling I needed to have someone check your work. If none of this bothers you, folks, and you like spending money to break your car down. Go to this guy. Frustration, and your bank account will follow. I brought my sons toyota celica to Harvey last week and found that I needed several things done to get the car up to speed for the winter. Harvey went through it and made some recommendations that made sense. The car had been running rough with the check engine light on, and the brakes were grinding. My Wife drives 600 miles round trip to Burbank 3 times a month in her 2001 BMW X5. Her thermostat failed and since her car has over 150,000 miles it was time to do a complete radiator, hose, water pump replacement. Called Patrick at BMA to order all the parts and I asked if he could recommend someone near by to replace just the thermostat so she could get home and I could do the work. He told me about Precision Motorsports so I gave Harmic a call from 300 miles away. He was knowledgeable and confident. We talked cars for about 20 minutes and he made me feel comfortable using him long distance. He said he could do all the work with the parts I bought in a day for an extremely reasonable price and asked me if we needed any other work done on the car. I told him the front axle booties needed replacing and he offered to do them also. She showed up with the car and the parts, he gave her a ride to work and when she came back that evening the work was done, and done right! We all know that dealerships are a ripoff, but with nowhere to turn and a broke down car they quoted me $1,500.00 to check out the transmission. This was ONLY to drop and inspect the transmission. I called and they sent a tow truck to the dealership to pick my car up. They saved me hundreds with a complete replacement. These guys are good and I have been back since for little repairs which were done well and at a fair price. Also, I had to rent a car and they sent a runner to pick me up when the car was finished so they went the extra mile. Seriously as good as it gets. read more
