Could not have gone better. Crew chief Jay and his two fellows moved me from Lowell to Somerville on May 16th this year. They came in the lowest out of three quotes: Gentle Giant, Intelligent Labor, and Precision Moving. I was hesitant to go with the lowest quote, but they showed up on time, moved everything with care, never stopped moving for a minute, hoisted four large pieces up the front of the house because the stairway was too tight - and on top of all that, all of them were just downright nice dudes. They handled the special parking permit for me, came a couple days early and put up the signs in front of my new place, and on moving day the final deal came in EXACTLY as the quote specified, EXACTLY on time. All I can say is that we are using these guys on our next move--no questions. We needed a couched moved through a narrow doorway into our apartment, and for the life of us a neighbor and I could not fit it through. We called these guys at 8am the next day, and they were here by 12:30pm and the couch was in our living room 5 minutes later. This was a great experience. Precision sent us Roudy, Croman and Nate. They were fantastic! 1. Came in under estimate 2. Fast and very efficient 3. Friendly but professional 4. Polite and respectful of our things 5. Prompt (even arrived a few minutes early) 6. Gave me a discount because by the time I called to book based on my estimate they were already booked for that day so I had to book for a more expensive day (they honored the original hourly cost of the estimate). 7. Full explanation of the bill when they were done before having me sign my only complaint (and I only mention not because it was unreasonable but because I wish they had told me ahead of time) I have a large ikea bookshelf that's about 6'x6.' It wasn't until they got there that morning that they took a look and told me they couldn't move it that it had to be disassembled and that they don't disassemble and reassemble furniture. My last move 5 years ago the moving company did that so I was a little caught off guard. (however they also ended with $100 over the estimate, so precision still wins!) So i had to scramble to disassemble it, but got it done and moved. I will be recommending them to many people. read more

They were hands down the BEST movers I have used in the Boston area (they are the fourth company I have used, so I have some basis for comparison). I moved from Somerville to Dedham, with a TON of stuff, including very large pieces of furniture, spread out on two floors of a large apartment- it was a big job! The fellas were super speedy, respectful, patient, friendly, funny, AND, since they were so efficient, the final cost came in at significantly less than the original quote I had from the company (by about $500). These guys were OUTSTANDING! I looked into several highly-rated local movers on Yelp and chose Precision for their professional website, prompt response to my quote request, my ability to get someone on the phone whenever I had a question, the fact that they accept credit cards (including Amex!) and their essentially all-inclusive pricing. I had to have an afternoon "window" appointment on a Saturday; I called to confirm and they were friendly and accurate as to when they'd arrive - roughly 45 minutes into the window. They had 3 guys, maneuvered the truck right up onto the curb, and unloaded my entire studio in less than an hour. They then graciously allowed me to ride with them (SO FUN!) the mile to my new place, and unloaded everything within the next hour - came in right at the 2 hour minimum, which was an hour under the estimate. The ONLY thing I wasn't 100% thrilled with is they called approx 20 minutes ahead of time to ask if I'd like a 3rd mover - I originally scheduled for just 2. I accepted because I felt a little on the spot - it ended up being the right choice, so I'm glad I felt a little pressured, but just be prepared for that sort of question and have an answer prepared ahead of time. I think if I'd said no, they still would have done an excellent job but the job likely wouldn't have been as quick. The pricing was $30 extra per hour for the 3rd guy, but likely it would have taken an extra 30 minutes at least without him, so again, it worked out. Overall, these guys were friendly, professional, efficient, and safe with my stuff - nothing (including my cheap Ikea glassware) broke!! I would ABSOLUTELY use them again! Moving sucks, but these guys make it a little less painful. They moved our 1.5 bedroom apartment from Cambridge to Brookline in about 2.5 hours--half the time that they quoted us, which meant that they were way under the quoted price! I would like to think that that's because I'm such an amazing packer, but let's be serious, they were ridiculously efficient and even our super fragile stuff came through without a scratch. That 2.5 hours also includes the absurd u-haul maze they had to snake their way through to get from Cambridge to Brookline on Sept. 1. I was definitely impressed and will use them again. read more

Once, from Cambridge to Somerville, and again four years later when we moved from Somerville to Stow These guys are efficient, professional, and a pleasure to work with. The movers were on time for both moves, and the whole team was incredibly polite, introducing themselves, and acquainting themselves with our possessions before they dove into the moving process. They value the safety of their employees, which I admire. Their rates are completely reasonable, and we were not surprised by the price either time, as the estimates had been incredibly accurate. After having a horrible experience with Nick's Moving Co. two years ago, I came to yelp to find a better, more reliable moving company. The movers at Nick's had spent 1.5 hours trying to get my couch up the front and back stairs and then told me the only way they'd be able to get it in my 3rd floor apartment is to hoist it up the back. And then they said there was an additional fee for that. When I called at complained the next week, the person on the phone basically told me that was just these things work sometimes...that I was in the wrong for expecting more. So this year when I hired Precision and they were done moving me in less than half the time of Nick's, I rejoiced. They weren't sure why I thought I needed the couch hoisted as they were able to easily move it down the front set of stairs in 5 MINUTES!!! Nick's waisted an hour and a half of my time, charged me extra for the hoist, cracked the plastic casing around my tv in 5 places, and made me feel insignificant. I highly recommend Johnny, Jaye, and Guil...they were super efficient, communicated effectively with me, and were very careful with my stuff...I haven't found a scratch on anything. My husband and I recently moved from Boston to Providence and decided to use movers (for the first time). We did a lot of searching online and were faced with an overwhelming number of options (some professional and some amateur). Based on some reviews on yelp and other websites, we decided on Precision Moving Company. We are very happy with that decision! Moving in the winter is never a fun situation. There was a huge snowstorm a few days prior to our move with lots of residual ice and snowbanks. The moving crew worked around it without much difficulty. Our crew was Paul, Aaron and Jose. They were all very professional and had many years of experience between them. They were friendly, courteous and careful with our furniture and boxes. They inspected the furniture pre, and post move to make sure there are no damages. Although they don't turn away help from us (we moved a few of our lighter bags/boxes down stairs for them), they did not expect any help (we didn't bring anything UP the stairs in our new place). We moved from a large one bedroom apartment in a 3 floor walk-up, to another top floor apartment (3 flights of stairs). From start to finish it took them approximately 5 1/2 hours (this includes drive time to/from Providence as they bill from the time they leave Somerville to the time they return to Somerville). This was right on target with what Jennifer (the woman who books the move) had quoted us. Overall, so much smoother than moving ourselves and the service was quick, dependable, professional and totally worth the money! I would recommend them to everyone! note: Tips are much appreciated. In general it is customary to tip movers the same way you would tip a waiter or hairstylist (~10-20% on the total move price). read more

I truly believe this company has fantastic owners that truly care about customer service. When I first made contact, the owners were quick to respond, polite and really wonderful to work with in scheduling. That being said, I was very surprised on moving day with the lack of professionalism the movers displayed. As much as I really appreciate my interaction with the owners, I have to be honest and say that the actual move was a bit of a disaster. The movers did arrive on time, but worked slowly. They complained quite a bit about how much stuff I had, and when I politely asked one of the movers to not text and make personal phone calls when I'm paying by the hour, he ordered me to "wait downstairs," and said "he could go faster if I stopped talking to him." He proceeded to give me a lecture about how I have to be nicer to people. I've never been spoken to that way by anyone, much less someone I hired. There was quite a bit of damage (handle of mattress ripped off, dents and dinging of the walls of the apartment that I saw with my own eyes), and really no planning throughout the process of what to move first, second (for example, they moved the king-sized bed into my small-ish bedroom first, and then tried to put in furniture around it). Many things were dropped and overall the move of heavy furniture was very difficult to watch. My TV was dropped, cracking and breaking it. the movers didn't unwrap any of the furniture, and only reassembled my bed (not anything else). This left me all alone to painfully lift the corners of each piece of heavy furniture (couch sectional pieces, bookshelves) to unwrap shrink wrap and moving blankets from each piece. Truth be told I was happy they didn't stick around to do this just because I felt so uncomfortable with them in my apartment. I would have given a 1-star review, but after the fact I sent a message to the owners and they responded so, so wonderfully. They offered to take off the cost of the broken TV from my final bill. They were understanding and just incredible. Their responsiveness and attention was more than I would have ever expected, and was so greatly appreciated. I wish, WISH the level of care of these owners was reflected in the work of the movers. As much as I appreciated the interaction with the owners, I have to be honest about the service, itself. If these owners found movers that cared the way they do, this company would be unstoppable. read more

These guys are amazing! I could do a comparison and contrast them against the crew that I got from eMove last year when I moved into Coolidge Corner, but it would far too loop-sided. The Precision crew amazed me with their speed, professionalism, and attitude. My next move will be handled by these guys. Details: They showed up right on time, introduced themselves, and after a quick tour began QUICKLY loading the truck with great care. They brought down my sofa and loaded it before I knew they were ready to move it. Mind you, this is the sofa that took three idiots 25 minutes to move up one flight of stairs while marring every corner. Unloading went just as smooth and as fast. Yes, more expensive than the idiots from eMove, but SO MUCH BETTER and very much worth it. If you care about you belongings, how they are moved and packed, consider Precision. The guys that moved our stuff could not have been more professional, careful, attentive, courteous and FAST. They finished our move in less time than had been quoted, helped me deal with a piece that would not fit up the stairs or in the elevator at the new place, and made the quintessential stressful moving day that much less stressful. Got quotes from several places, but Precision was amongst the best priced... add to the fact that every single yelp review was 5 stars and it was a no-brainer. I moved out of Brookline (which is terrible for parking) and they handled the parking permit, the "No Parking" sign and everything for me. I literally didn't have to do a thing. They showed up exactly on time (I'm talking exact), and began working immediately. I started cleaning some rooms and before I knew it, they had moved everything out of the place. The move-in was just as easy. They showed up at the destination only a few minutes after I arrived, and they brought it all in in a timely fashion (and it's quite a walk down the hallway to my apartment - I am Nothing was dented, scratched, or anything else. In fact, one of my desks had a loose leg (it had been bugging me for some time, but I never got around to fixing it). They brought it in, and tightened the leg for me without me even asking. I will definitely use Precision for my next move. I recommend them to anyone. read more

I just used Precision Movers for a second time, and as expected, they made a very stressful day as easy as possible. Owners Mike and Jennifer were a huge help when I called in a panic at 8am because someone had parked in front of the no parking signs I had spent a small fortune to have them acquire for me. After calling the cops and a tow truck for some extra drama, the moving truck arrived at about 9:15 (having called me at 9 to say they ran into some rush hour traffic) and it took 4 pleasant, friendly, funny movers about 2 hours to empty our large 2-bedroom, 3rd floor apartment, and about 2 more to empty it into our 3-story single family. Add travel time and time for walk-throughs and they still came in under estimate (again)! These guys worked really hard, running up and down the stairs at least a million times and only took one 5 minute break to catch their breath. I was worried about an antique stained glass window in the stairway getting bumped, and I think I insulted them by suggesting we cover it up with something. They were extremely careful and everything was in its place without a scratch. Hint: Rent the wardrobe boxes for $6 each, they are totally worth it in precious packing time saved. read more

I used Precision Moving a couple weeks ago and they were fantastic. I had several stops that needed to be made to pick up everything that was going to my final destination and they were on time to each location. The move itself was challenging because of the narrow sidewalks and insane snow banks in Boston at the moment but the team was extremely efficient and careful. There was no damage to any of my belongings and everything was picked up and moved into my new location within 3 hours. We are all feeling the stress of the current COVID-19 pandemic right here in Boston. Trying to make sure you're keeping social distance and feeling well while also having to move before the end of the month makes that stress multiply times infinity. I just want to thank Jenn and Mike in the office for always being available for emails or a phone call that led up to our moving day this past Friday. They never sounded flummoxed on the phone or in written correspondence. Their calm made us feel calm while planning for this VERY essential service. We were moving from the South End to Dorchester and the one good thing about today's current world situation...it made for a very quick trip down the road once the truck was loaded. The team of Mike, Chris and Brian deftly maneuvered the 20 ft truck into the public alley behind the brownstone. I was super impressed. They took great care of our things and were constantly communicating with each other about not hitting walls or scraping the floors. They also were great regarding communicating with us while making us feel they would handle the move ... letting us really focus on some other issues with closing up the house. It was the same way at the new house. They took great care in our new home to ensure things were where we really wanted them...and even indulged us when we asked for some different placements. This was my first moving company experience and it was pretty great. The guys showed up on time, moved all my stuff in way less than the estimated number of hours, and then charged me for less than 4 hours. I think it's hard to find a company to do that short a move and not charge a minimum. Plus their hourly rate was like half the cost of Gentle Giant. I moved on June 15 from one side of Davis Sq in Somerville to the other side of Davis in Cambridge. The guys names were...? I forgot. But they were super friendly (in an east coast way), very careful with our furniture, and like I said, FAST. They even came back the next day to drop off the casters that had fallen off our office chair, and left a very sweet note apologizing for missing them the day before. These guys deserve every bit of praise they get. First of all, when I called and asked for boxes on a Sunday morning weeks before our move- expecting to get an answering machine and a call back later in the week - the owner ended up 'swinging by' with them just a few hours later. Talk about service! (The boxes were wonderful, and worth every penny). As for the move - on June 1st, with crazy logistic stuff happening with the new tenant at the apartment I was moving out of, these guys (I wish I was better with names, but I remember that Beau/Bo was running the show and the two other guys were fantastic) made mine & my boyfriend's day, and for so, so reasonable rates. 2 hours and fifteen minutes. They loaded our 2br apartment in Cambridge, trucked it all up to Somerville, and unloaded everything with speed, efficiency and care in 2 hours and fifteen minutes. Did I mention it was storming for part of the unloading? It was pouring, torrential sheets of rain, and we said "hey, we're paying for your time, but, seriously, hang out here for a bit and wait for the rain to die down", but they liked the challenge! Nothing but a desk got wet (and that's because they had to take it around the back). To top it off, they bullshitted with us, and made it feel like they were just some guys helping us out. It was an experience to behold. After a string of difficult, convoluted no-movers moves, I'm so glad we hired Precision, because they made the whole situation infinitely easier to deal with. My sister and I were moving in together. I'd heard rave reviews from a friend who used Precision for their last two moved and tried to hire them. Alas, they were booked. So I went with another company. Big mistake. I had an unfortunately disastrous move. My sister moved in a week later and hired Precision. They were AMAZING. They did the whole thing in well under the time they'd originally estimated. They were nice (Paul, Rudy, and one other guy whose name I've forgotten). They hoisted two couches out a window of her old place (which I didn't think was possible) and then hoisted them over the porch of our new place. Or, to be precise, the guy whose name I've forgotten stood on the ground and Rudy (hence to be known as The Amazing Rudy) leaned over and bicep-curled that thing up. Yes, you read that right: He BICEP-CURLED the COUCH up over the porch. By himself. A couch. If only I'd video'd it. It was amazing. And they were nice. And fast. And nothing was damaged. If I ever move again (and frankly, I hope I won't because I hate moving) I definitely plan to hire Precision. read more

This is customer service. My movers showed up on time, ready to haul ass. They were quick but careful and so efficient. They didn't mind me helping carry down some boxes to make the move go faster. They took expert care of my furniture without discrimination between Ikea and vintage pieces.... They even broke down a wicked difficult Ikea metal desk that took a lot of time and cursing for two people to originally put together. And they rebuilt it in my new place in under 15 minutes. These guys work really well together. They said a lot of their employees have been working together for around 10 years, so they hardly need to talk while working. They are well organized, graceful machines!! They come off as tough, but they are really cool dudes with good senses of humor. Moving can be so stressful and I had a lot of anxiety about it, but these guys saved the day. And I will tell recommend them forever and forever! The move took less time than estimated, so they only charged me for the time used. Also, they took care of getting a permit for parking so I had no trouble moving out of a tricky neighborhood with limited parking. Yes, they are a little more pricey than other companies in the area. But my new roommate hired one of those companies and while he paid less, his movers got lost, were late, and looked like they were going to pass out after a few trips up the stairs. read more

Had a great experience with a team of four who were not only able to pack up our dishes/kitchen stuff quickly and perfectly, but also able to move us out of our large 1st floor, 5 room apartment into our new 2nd floor, 2-story house in under the quoted time. Everything came through undamaged and they made sure that things were exactly where we wanted them to be. This is a great local company -- Use these guys next time you move! We've used them three times, sadly the last time we moved across the country so it was the last time we'll be hiring them. For our last move, they helped up pack all our worldly goods into a PODS storage unit. The were incredibly efficient & with the exception of two old pieces of furniture (old as in worn, not "antique") everything came out fine on the other end. In fact, we do have an antique table & chairs that they gingerly packed & are still perfect! They were really quick & mindful of costs -- even asked us if we had any old blankets to use for wrapping items so that they wouldn't have to sell us their moving blankets at $15 a pop. In the past we've purchased our moving boxes from them -- You can purchase used boxes at a discount & the quality was still good. I checked Yelp before hiring Precision. I don't regret about my choice. The lady who answered the phone was nice enough to find a spot for me for Sunday moving although I called one day before. I really appreciate it. The two guys showed up on time and gave me a call before hand to let me know when they are going to arrive. That's really helpful because I could arrange my lunch time. The whole process was smooth and quick. At end of the day, I found out one piece was broken then I talked with the lady who ran the company. She readily offered a check refund. Talked with a Metro-West mover and Precision. Jennifer sold us. Glad she did. Mike and crew arrived as scheduled and took over. They were extremely professional and guided us through the process. After 20 years in the same house we accumulated "lots" of stuff. They helped us separate the items needed for the apartment and the items they are storing for a year (we are trying Boston and will look for a permament residence during the year). Key thing for us was trust, Mike,Jennifer and the guys always made us feel great about our decision to work with them. Customer Service shows in all they do.
