Yelp to the rescue yet again! After several moves in the last few years, our backs just couldn't take it. This time, we're getting movers! So on the morning of our big day, these three guys show up at our door - right at 9:30, just like they said - already a huge plus. So, these three guys, looking dubious. Wearing shorts, sweathirts, baseball caps, sipping on iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts. Two were skinny, one was flabby... I'm thinking, oh god!! But then.... Pow! Bang! Boom! Box by box, all our stuff was in the truck, despite the 4th floor walkup situation, AND they made pleasant conversation with the idle host (me), who was twiddling her thumbs in the kitchen, trying to stay out of the way. All in all, they were done about an hour before we thought! Nothing was broken, scratched or messed up. They WILL charge you for their trip from the base to your old house, from the old house to the new house, and then back to the base - so consider that when calculating an estimate. Take home message: it's excellent to pay people to do stuff for you if you can. read more

So I had a relatively simple move..moving a bedrooms worth of stuff from a storage unit 0.7 miles into a new apartment. They moved my stuff, and it took about 2.5 hours. I've had some absolutely fabulous movers in the past year (word of advice...don't move that much), and Precision movers was definitely not the best. When loading the truck they tag teamed, with one person bringing from the storage unit and the other loading things onto the truck. for boxes and the like this is fine, but it caused some of my furniture to get pretty banged up. I started looking for movers in early January and got kind of freaked out by how expensive, or shifty, or nonprofessional, or whatever that they all seemed to be. I called an old friend who had been in the moving business years ago and he said, "You ever use Yelp?" "Duh," sez I. Practically living on Yelp, why didn't I think of that. So, my friend Lee goes on, "Check them out. They have a million reviews and they still have 5 stars." He told me that he sends all his old customers there and he's heard no complaints. So I Yelped them and Lee was right. And if you know how to read Yelp, you know a shill review from a real review, and these were real reviews by real people. You also know that anyone with 99 reviews and a full 5 stars has to be doing something right, and they are. I called Jennifer and talked to her. She sounded intelligent and pleasant. I described the move and she said, "you could go with 3, but I'd recommend 4 guys." I thought about it for a day, looked over the other cheesy estimates I'd gotten, and although Precision's estimate was much higher than the others, but I I suspected it to be more accurate. I decided to drive in to Somerville and see their facility and meet Jennifer. Finding it to be well established, clean and organized, I booked the job with Jen and picked up my $50 worth of free boxes. You get a lot of boxes for $50 at Precision. And they're good boxes; U-Haul quality good for a lot less per box. (BTW - do yourself a favor and stay away from Home Depot boxes. Flimsy, fall apart, and not at all rectangular. Whatever shape they do approximate is one where the flaps don't even come close to meeting when you try to seal them.) On moving day, my crew was Bo, Phil, Iztvan and Bella. They showed up promptly at 9AM, they looked strong and well rested, and immediately took a walk-through of the house. Bo told me right away "We might not get this done today, but we'll try," and they launched right into moving me out of the top two floors of a 3 decker, and basement into temporary storage a couple hours away. And they flew through it. These guys worked their butts off. None of this "2 guys will carry and 1 guy holds the door thing." Each guy moved things by himself that I could have sworn would take two guys. One guy moved a cube safe by himself! By himself, on his shoulder like it was a sack of flour! It was men in perpetual motion and they had filled the truck - to the top - by 1 'clock. And it was starting to snow... and it was forecast to snow hard. I was worried - a full truck meant that getting it all into the storage space would be iffy. They took less than 2 1/2 hours to get to the space. Having driven it before, I can tell you this: IF they stopped for lunch, it was to pick it up at a drive through and eat it on the road. They mooooved. At the other end... allow me to digress. Have you ever heard of the Theory of Nominative Determinism? It suggests that "...a person's name is given an influential role in reflecting key attributes of his job, profession, or general life," like a guy named Larry Speakes will grow up to be a White House spokesman, and a girl named "Eileen" will limp? And then there's the aforementioned member of this moving squad, "Phil." I guess the theory holds up for homonyms. These guys work as fast in reverse as they do forward. Three of them unloaded and Phil worked inside the space arranging, stacking, shifting, rearranging and re-stacking, filling every cubic centimeter of the unit. Absolutely amazing. Like backwards Jenga. It was after 6 PM and snowing hard - almost blizzard conditions and the stuff was piling up.- when they finished. They flat rated their return trip to Somerville at 2 hours. Maybe they made it in that time, but I'm pretty sure they saved me an hour or more on the back end. This move was expensive, don't get me wrong. But it did cost what Jennifer said it would cost, and it did cost what I had already figured it would cost. This crew took on a tough job with enthusiasm and good spirit and carried it through to the end. I could not rate any experience more highly than this. If Precision Movers were a barbecue, I would eat there weekly. read more

In the past I've used Gentle Giant - they do a great job, but it's so damn expensive (they were quoting me $2,500 for a 1 mile move!!) So I came onto Yelp and read all the positive reviews about Precision and decided to go with them. When I first called to get the quote they wanted to only send 2 movers, but from past experience I knew I needed 3 - I have some heavy furniture and a lot of stuff. So she redid it with 3 movers and the quote was $600 and she thought the time would be 4.5 hours. I told her my previous move had been 6 hours, but since this was closer from where I moved from last time perhaps 4.5 made sense. They showed up on time - but 3 other people in my building were also moving out - 1 other with Precision, another with Gentle Giant, and another with a UHaul - and my street was suddenly under construction that day too by NStar - so it was totally insane. But all that going on - these guys managed to get me moved out of my apt in 2.5 hours and were very efficient. They moved me in my house fairly quickly ,and nothing was broken etc. I really liked the guys and thought they did a great job. My two slight complaints: the stuff I had them put in the basement was put in kind of messy - it's difficult to move around down there - I would have liked stuffed a little more organized. But I should add I didn't give any direction of what should go where in the basement - I just said in the basement. So perhaps I should have been a little more explicit in where stuff should go down there. The move ended up being 6.5 hours - so the cost ended up being $300 more than my quote. It's not the guys fault at all - I think they worked quickly and did a great job, I just wish folks could give more accurate quotes. Found this moving company using Yelp and after reading some of the reviews I was a bit skeptical and wondering if movers could really be both as good as stated and as cheap. Guess it's true... Precision Movers were incredible and made my move from Cambridge to Somerville absolutely painless and stress free. They provided the truck and the two movers they sent were both friendly and worked well. They had everything and knew how to get it done efficiently, even with some tricky, heavy items. Their rates were also a lot better than some of the competition and their communication excellent. They were aware of the rules and regulations of both Cambridge and Somerville and were able to help work with me to make this all work. Next time I move I'll know who to contact and won't even bother to look anywhere else. Kudos. read more

Sorry...this review was long overdue. You won't find any of my typical gripes or complaints with Precision Moving Co. We've used these guys 3 different times...Cambridge, Brookline, Lexington. My wife and I are lazy proletariats, but adhering to the spirit of laissez faire capitalism and our ongoing efforts to keep our sluggish GDP going, we hired the Precision team to pack, wrap, box, disassemble, assemble, etc. You're welcome U.S. economy. As the day of the move approached, my anxiety about the move started to build, which I guess is normal. I was moving a 1+ bedroom apartment from a 3rd floor walk up to another 3rd floor walk with a very narrow staircase. I was worried I had too much stuff and it wouldn't fit in the truck, or that they wouldn't be able to get everything up the stairs. Three guys showed up within the time frame they stated, and immediately put my fears to rest. They were friendly enough and courteous. They guys hauled ass! They had most of the apartment in the truck in under 3 hours, despite the fact that the old apartment was 50 steps from the street it was about 90 degrees. And everything fit with room to spare. Everything went smoothly at the new place. They deftly navigated the tiny narrow staircase and got most of the furniture up. As they were moving an antique desk, a piece of wood came off in one of the guy's hands. Nothing he did wrong, just an old desk with dried up glue. They immediately repaired it with some heavy duty glue and it was as good as new. They ended up having to hoist the box spring up over the balcony. I know it's a standard charge of $30 to do that, but it took them all of 30 seconds and was probably easier than carrying something up the stairs. I did feel a little ripped off. I can understand the charge if it were a couch or something! One of the movers ended up feeling really sick at the end of the move, which I am totally sympathetic about (except that he said he hadn't eaten since the day before !) It was a really hot day! But I think this may have ended up costing me more money, because he much pretty stopped hauling stuff up the stairs at this point. Instead he spent a lot of time leaning over the air conditioning unit. Why 4 stars out of 5? Well, after the move was completed (in under 6 hours), I drove back to the old apartment to get the cat, and saw the door to the building completely WIDE OPEN! They had tied back the door with a strap, but totally forgot to undo it when they left. My neighbor's apartments were left vulnerable to a break-in for about 4 hours, and it's a very busy well traveled street. Thankfully everything appeared to be okay, but this seems like a big oversight! All in all, I had a good experience and would recommend them to anybody needing to move! read more

Does the thought of moving your own stuff from one place to another excite and enthrall you? Do you prefer to spend your time taking boxes upon boxes from your old place into your car and then drive it over to your new place only to unload there -- rinse, repeat? If so, then Precision Moving Company is not for you. Also, you may need some professional help because moving totally sucks. From quote to every last box into our storage unit, my experience with Precision Moving Company was top notch. After providing an inventory of what needed to be moved, Jennifer (moving manager) provided me with a reasonable quote for 4 guys and a 26' truck. I paid my $200 deposit over the phone and on the morning of my move, the movers were there with the truck within 5 minutes of the expected time. Upon arrival, Jeff went over the hourly rate and set the expectations. You get charged from the minute they leave their warehouse until they return with the truck. No problem. We walked the crew around the house to let them know what needed to be loaded and what could be left. And then they set off to work. The entire truck was loaded within 2 hours - with a couple short breaks for the guys. They moved like machines! I think a major part of what helped them move so efficiently was the fact that we had clear paths from each room to the door - and all our crap was pretty organized. All furniture was disassembled and bagged (mattresses) or quilted (dining room tables) without incident. Once loaded, we caravan-ed to the storage unit where we left the guys to Tetris the sh*t out of our 10 x 19 unit. They were finished unloading in less than an hour. We'd been quoted for 8.5 hours of moving and the crew finished it up in 6 - which saved us a considerable amount of money. The guys were polite, super fast and overall really great. They all seemed to enjoy each others' company - so it made the whole experience that much better. I can't say that their job seems fun, but they all were pretty upbeat and seemed to not being having the worst time. All in all, this was an amazing experience. And we will for sure be using Precision again once we find our next place! read more

Part of me wants to give them another five star raving review and part of me wants to trash them with a one star bomber...they were great moving us out of our 2 bedroom house in Brighton, arrived on time, worked quickly, nice over the telephone, arranged all parking, etc...same raves as most other reviews. Our move was to Exeter, NH into an 1840 farmhouse and barn..I say barn because we had some out-buildings in Brighton housing snowblowers, tool benches, etc. The movers were on time and efficiently unloaded the truck. However, by a certain time in the late afternoon it became apparent being 40 miles from Boston was WAY out of their comfort zone. The rush began and the moving became very sloppy. They couldn't figure out how to get our new front loading dryer into the laundry room and warned that they might have to scratch-up the sides to get it in..huh? We simply pointed out that if they removed the door from the hinges and turned the dryer sideways it would be a no-brainer. Destruction successfully avoided, dryer placed with no problem. Boxes clearly labeled to match the signs we placed on the doors to each room were just dumped in random rooms. We ended up moving a whole lot of heavy boxes up and down stairs and into the right rooms later. Finally, and the biggest, and I mean HUGE, issue I had was that they asked if we wanted our 1 year old daughter's crib put back together again. Uh...yeah you took it apart! They guy had clearly mentally clocked out and was ready to go despite the job not being done. We later found out that when he re-assembled the crib the sides were barely attached. This came to light the next morning when my baby's hand and fingers got crushed between the side rail and end of the crib because it was freely moving. So for the severe pinch (we're talking purple fingers and hand), I give them a big thumbs down. She could have been severerly injured if the crib fell apart or on her. Yes, I suppose we should have checked it out before hand, but with two toddlers and two full days of moving..we were wiped out and it never entered our minds that the crib would fall apart. They did go a considerable amount over budget, not taking into account the move from a Brighton 2 family, to a 2600 square foot farmhouse. It was a big move and we stressed that before and during quote request, so it was frustrating. Especially with the tip and 12 pack of beer we gave them as a thanks! read more

I used Precision for a move across town in Somerville just this week. The prices were reasonable, the guys were friendly and they were FAST. Also, they carried a ridiculously large sofa up 3 flights of stairs and managed to get it down a narrow hallway. Great work! Also, the "leader" of the crew (I think his name was Erik) was funny, personable and made the whole experience actually pleasant. Definitely recommend this company. However, I'm subtracting one star only because 1 of the guys on the team was sick with the stomach flu during my move. He didn't look so hot, and he told me that he had the stomach flu and had been throwing up and having diarrhea for like 3 days. (Lovely) If he had the norovirus or something like that, he really should have stayed home. The stomach flu is HIGHLY contagious and there he was, basically touching every possession I own. Honestly, I was worried for the next 3 days that I would get sick, and that is really not cool. I mean, I hope the guy feels better and all, but dude, if you are puking or have diarrhea STAY HOME!!! read more

I moved on a Thursday, mid-month, so I got one of the least expensive deals - 2 men and a truck for $95/hour. Also, I booked the movers less than 24 hours in advance (note to readers: don't do this unless it's absolutely necessary, because that's just mean!) and everyone was perfectly pleasant and professional about the situation. I was quoted 6.5 hours, but due to the awesome packing and manual labor skills of myself (ha.ha.) and my boyfriend (more legitimate), they moved us from Brookline to Quincy in about 4 hours. One of the movers saw our cheapo furniture and said, these might break from the weight, while we move them. And both my boyfriend and I said "do what you can. It's cheap, and you're not miracle workers." NOTHING BROKE. The two men that helped us were Jay and I can't remember the other's name. Both were really chill, very helpful, never took breaks, and didn't freak out when they arrived in Quincy well before we got there... whoops. The company does nickel-and-dime you a bit, with the added charges of transportation time (from their base in Somerville), the mattress bag, tape, toll fees, etc, but for $95/hour and finishing 2.5 hours below quoted time, I can't complain about that. They arrived at 8:59am in Brookline (9am appointment) and left Quincy at around 12pm or 12:30pm. Amazing! I couldn't be happier. The move was smooth sailing. I would definitely recommend this company. Pay with cash to avoid extra credit card fees - hit up the ATM in advance. read more

Precision Movers was able to accommodate me on a Monday for a Friday move and had a $20 for $50 yelp coupon which lead me to book with them. They were super flexible in moving me and actually helped the woman moving out of my new place move her bed into her car. However, I was frustrated because it was not communicated to me that the clock started on the move when they left the warehouse. They showed at 9:15 am for a 9:00 am move - and I thought they were late. I actually ended up getting charged for extra time because of this. It wasn't a huge additional cost but I wish this had been communicated upfront. read more

Really great service here. I've never used movers before and they were punctual, fast, organized and helpful. I ended up having some trouble when I got to my new place because the landlord had no left it open with my keys inside as he had promised and was unreachable (totally awesome way to start off a relationship with a new landlord). Precision Moving has storage facilities so I was able to put my stuff into storage with them until I was able to get into my apartment a few days later. It made a crappy situation significantly less crappy. I would definitely use them again. Word of advice, make sure you get parking permits for both your current house and your new place. Contact the parking and transportation department of your city for permits. It will make moving faster and considerably less stressful. read more

Moving is an awful experience. However, find a great moving company can make that experience just a tiny bit less stressful. In the past I've received help from friends to move. It was always a disaster of an experience. This time I decided to be a grown-up and hire movers. Yelp seemed pleased with Precision Moving Company's service so I figured that would work for me. Getting an estimate for my move was quick and really easy. Damien, the moving coordinator, was quick to respond to emails and extremely professional. On the morning of the move the truck pulled up 15 minutes early in front of my house. They introduced themselves, got a lay of the apartment and got to moving. In 1.5 hrs I was totally moved out of my old place and moved into my new one. The movers were polite, efficient and professional. The final cost was about $40 cheaper than the estimate. SCORE! I hate moving, but when I have my next move I will definitely be hiring Precision again. read more

I have moved just about every year for the past 6 years and Precision Movers have by far been one of my best moving experiences. I was lucky that it was a local with-in Somerville move, but this company made sure everything was super easy. My crew consisted of Jimmy, Istvan, and Valdem and they showed up perfectly on time. They were friendly, efficient, and got right down to business. Loading up took only about 45 minutes! They quickly transported everything to my new apartment and unloaded everything up three flights of stairs with ease. These guys went above and beyond -- there was an old couch in the apartment i was moving into and i asked if they could remove it and they gladly agreed. When they were finished bringing in all of my belongings, they even asked if there was anything else they could help move! Truly, these guys were great. Precision was incredibly pleasant, efficient and patient (we didn't exactly have all our ducks in a row!). Damian, who managed our booking, was very nice and helpful when I had weird pre-moving paniky questions. The moving team (Jimmy, Jeff and Istvan) were punctual, charming and on-the-ball. Jimmy, the foreman, was very good at keeping us aware of the time accrued. Also, all the guys were very patient, especially as we didn't have all our boxes marked. The guys did great jobbreaking down beds/shelving and putting it all back together. They even got a chest freezer through a small opening to our crawlspace. Nothing broke or got lost. We moved from Derry, NH to Woburn, MA at the beginning of July and had such an AMAZING experience with Precision. I'm totally on the bandwagon - these guys are great. First, booking was a breeze. We requested an estimate online and had a response soon after. The quote was totally reasonable and on par with others we received. The day of the move, three young guys showed up fifteen minutes early (which I loved) and immediately set to work. We were on the third floor of an apartment complex with no elevator, and it was approximately 90 million degrees outside, but these guy just KILLED IT. They worked like monsters, no complaints, no breaks, and had our two bedroom place emptied and loaded on the truck within 45 minutes. It was INSANE how fast and how hard they worked. They unloaded equally fast. Everything was undamaged, the guys were nice and polite, and the whole move came in about $200 less than our estimate. I can't say enough good things about this company, but if and when we move next, we will absolutely use them again. read more

I chose Precision based on their yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. I used their website to request an estimate for a move from Medford to Beacon Street and got a response within an hour. After accepting the estimate I gave them a call to set up the move logistics and the phone was answered right away by a personable young lady. Being given a two-hour window to expect the movers, as others experienced, I was called about an hour early to see if they could get an early start as they were ahead of schedule. Awesome. Unfortunately the complex I was moving from where I had reserved the loading dock had all of the garbage dumpsters in the way, and a u-haul was unloading as well (the Residences at Rivers Edge which sucks). So that did cost me a half hour of time. Once started, all three of the movers were very pleasant, hard workers and extremely efficient. They had my one bedroom loaded up in an hour and a half in a logistical nightmare of an apartment complex. Once we got to Beacon Street, the elevator had enough room for about two things. Not at a time, two things in total of everything I had to move. This thing is tiny. So having to use the stairs to the third floor, Precision had my stuff unloaded, moved and put together in another hour and a half. My only complaint was that they all turned down my offer of a beverage so I felt completely useless during the move. I recommend these guys to anyone, fantastic job! read more

Within 72 hours of posting this review, I was contacted by Mike Berberick, one of the co-owners of Precision Moving Company. He sincerely apologized on behalf of the company, addressed ALL of my concerns posted in my review, and has promised to take swift action to be sure that these issues do not occur in the future. He has also promised to reevaluate his business model and send out customer surveys post-move to get feedback from his customers, which I think is a GREAT idea! Customer service and satisfaction is very important to Precision Movers, which is a sign of a GREAT business. Precision Movers just left my apartment, and I couldn't wait to sit down and write a fabulous review. I've hired movers before for local moves, and I've been burned with lazy, careless movers with no investment in their job. I hired Precision based on the reviews on Yelp, and I was not let down! When I made the reservation, the office staff was friendly and informative. I was ready to have them arrange all the permits for me, but they told me that there was no sense in paying them a fee for the Cambridge permits since they were so quick and easy to do online (imagine that, a business that tries to save you money!). I ended up going with 2 guys and 1 truck for $105 an hour (I moved on a Saturday, so it was one of the higher rates). These two guys that showed up were polite, careful, and efficient. They paid attention to the box labels and put everything in its proper place, and made sure to not run into any walls, doors, or scrape the floor. I'm so used to having to be a taskmaster with movers, but these guys were so professional that I hardly knew what to do with myself! I actually enjoyed having them in my house instead of feeling awkward. They came in over the estimate, but that's only because when we got to my new building, there were two other people moving in so the elevator was tied up. They definitely would have gone under were it not for that. I'll use Precision for all my moves. According to my husband, "best goddamn money I ever spent." read more

The day after my move, my co-workers asked "How'd it go?" i said "Great, I found a really good moving company: Precision". One of my co-workers said "I've used them! Did you have the guy with dreads?" I said "Yes, N'Gadi! And an eastern european man Bela". She said "I had him too! And a a guy with a lot of ...." I said "Tatoos! Johnny!" We both agreed that this moving team was very quick, very efficient, and extremely personable! I moved from the second floor of a triple decker in Southie...and they ran up and down those stairs like lightening and had moving big furniture through very narrow doors. around corners and down steep stairs down to a science. I was moving into a single family house but had to put all my stuff into 2 rooms, the basement and the garage. I labeled almost everything and nothing ended up in the wrong place and nothing broke...which is pretty amazing. Even the way they stacked up my belongings was so incredibly neat.. The estimate was exactly right. I had used Gentle Giant when I moved from the Fenway to South Boston, and although they were good too, they were quite a bit more expensive. I was psyched that I didn't have to go stand in lines at city hall to get the street occupancy permit...they arranged it. When I paniced because the signs weren't in front of my house, they had them moved the same day. All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better move. I highly recommend. read more

Mostly just adding another five star review. They were scheduled to arrive between 2 and 3 PM. At about 12:45, they called to ask if they could come earlier (polite of them), at 1PM. I wasn't totally packed but figured I could finish as they went. I had just enough time to do so -- damn those guys are efficient. Anyway, by 3PM (within the window they could have justifiably arrived in on time) I was completely moved in at my new place. ...whoa. $225 for a whole move. read more

I've had several moves now with this company. Five years ago I had an amazing experience. This go around, the first part of the move was ok. Upon delivery, a few items were scratched and broken. Albeit the pieces were not top notch furniture so it's ok. It was hot and it was hot in their truck so clearly the movers were tired. Some comments were a bit strange. Not totally professional. As for the cost and customer service for the actual service, I think they are very reasonably priced. read more

These guys were great! I had a September 1 move in Boston, which anyone knows is a nightmare, they showed up an hour earlier than they had originally told me, and loaded up all my stuff in an under an hour. They were just as fast unloading me into my new apartment. Other than a little damage to my TV stand (which I don't care about anyway) there were no problems. They charged $150 per hour for two movers, plus they charge for the time it takes to get to/from their office (figure another hour), but are worth every penny. I would definitely recommend them to anyone moving in Boston. read more

These guys were great from start to finish. I had left a message over the weekend to schedule the move and got a call back first thing Monday morning. They were able to accommodate our moving dates and also took care of the parking permits for us and it was the best $100 we've ever spent. It meant not having to go to city hall or tape up those signs 48 hours in advance. This was a huge plus especially for a north end move. They sent three guys, Gotty (sp?), Andy and Chad, who got our stuff (two bedroom apartment and 72 boxes) out of our 4th floor walk up in two hours! They held our stuff overnight and then moved our stuff up to our 3rd floor walk up in two hours...these guys are amazing; professional, friendly and didn't complain once even though it was 90 degrees both days and we had some really heavy boxes. I don't write reviews often, but Precision Movers was so outstanding, I wanted to do it for them. We used them to move from our 4-bedroom home in the middle of winter, in January. We've got a bunch of stuff, despite giving a lot to charity / other donations. Precision Movers were amazingly fast and efficient. They were friendly throughout, from when they showed up (right on time), through the last box delivered. They packed everything carefully, asking questions when needed. It was expensive. We just moved at the end of January from two smaller apartment (150sqft and 400sqft, 8 min drive away) into one bigger apartment (800 sqft), it cost us $1000 in total and 6.5 hours. The movers are wearing mask, and are friendly to us. , However, one of them almost got into a fight with the leasing office at the original building because of the trucking parking improperly. It wasn't clear the mattresses cost additional money. We picked this company because it's in Cambridge right where we're moving from, but the truck took 1 hour to show up and the cost was on us. Everything was intact and we're glad they helped taking apart the furnitures and putting them back together. We both didn't think it was worth the price, and will definitely consider alternative business for our move. read more

Just used Precision Movers to move the contents of my storage unit in Medford to my apartment in Boston to start getting ready for a cross-country move. I requested a 9am crosstown move on the morning after Thanksgiving. One end was up two flights of stairs. It also happened to be below freezing that morning. Even though everything was already packed, I'm sure it wasn't the most ideal job from their perspective. However, Phil & Mike were totally pleasant, friendly, helpful, and very efficient. I've used a variety of companies for crosstown and cross-country moves previously and this way easily the best crosstown moving experience that I've had ever. First of all, even though we underestimated just how much crap we had by a LOT and the job was much bigger than they were expecting, they were professional and friendly. Thank you! Could not have gone better. Crew chief Jay and his two fellows moved me from Lowell to Somerville on May 16th this year. They came in the lowest out of three quotes: Gentle Giant, Intelligent Labor, and Precision Moving. I was hesitant to go with the lowest quote, but they showed up on time, moved everything with care, never stopped moving for a minute, hoisted four large pieces up the front of the house because the stairway was too tight - and on top of all that, all of them were just downright nice dudes. They handled the special parking permit for me, came a couple days early and put up the signs in front of my new place, and on moving day the final deal came in EXACTLY as the quote specified, EXACTLY on time. All I can say is that we are using these guys on our next move--no questions. We needed a couched moved through a narrow doorway into our apartment, and for the life of us a neighbor and I could not fit it through. We called these guys at 8am the next day, and they were here by 12:30pm and the couch was in our living room 5 minutes later. The price moreover, while not cheap, was exactly as quoted on the phone and they took credit card just as promised. I can't say enough about how satisfied I am with them. Go with them. read more

This was a great experience. Precision sent us Roudy, Croman and Nate. They were fantastic! 1. Came in under estimate 2. Fast and very efficient 3. Friendly but professional 4. Polite and respectful of our things 5. Prompt (even arrived a few minutes early) 6. Gave me a discount because by the time I called to book based on my estimate they were already booked for that day so I had to book for a more expensive day (they honored the original hourly cost of the estimate). 7. Full explanation of the bill when they were done before having me sign my only complaint (and I only mention not because it was unreasonable but because I wish they had told me ahead of time) I have a large ikea bookshelf that's about 6'x6.' It wasn't until they got there that morning that they took a look and told me they couldn't move it that it had to be disassembled and that they don't disassemble and reassemble furniture. My last move 5 years ago the moving company did that so I was a little caught off guard. (however they also ended with $100 over the estimate, so precision still wins!) So i had to scramble to disassemble it, but got it done and moved. I will be recommending them to many people. read more

Updates (10/22/2018) The business owner reached out to me later with sincere apology and offered me partial refund because they did not provide the best service that I was satisfied with at the first place. It was very impressive follow-up since i did not expect it, they were striving to provide the best service they could even after the move and it showed they did care about every single customer. I will still keep my original comments so it's an honest review, but I was very impressed by their customer service, not so many business would do that, it was totally above and beyond the the average, i would give the customer service a five-star! Original comments- I've used the service last month for the moving. I chose this company mainly because of the overall good reviews i read on yelp so decided to give it a try! But it turned out it was an okay one (not that bad, they do their jobs but a few things could be done in a more professional way). The pros - The two workers were efficient and showed up on time, i really had to give credits to all these, and they charged reasonable rate. The cons- They refused to move a few items until i re-pack them in boxes. That is actually very stressful than it sounds here while it happened in the midst of all the moving chaos. I did not know that i had to pack EVERYTHING in boxes, in which case I packed a few items in some large garbage bags. So when those movers first came and saw the bags, they were not happy and complained about it, during the moving, they kept saying they just couldn't move the stuffs in this way, we were already so stressful so didn't know what to do (no solutions were provided or help was offered), they just left them there, so i looked around and decided to re-pack them in some empty boxes (i felt so lucky that i had a few extra at home, what if i didn't), finally they moved the stuffs after we repacked them. When i called to make the reservations, i even asked for the packing tips, but i did not get any impression that everything has to be packed in certain ways. I am not sure if other people had gone through some similar situation or anything else, i am writing this on yelp only hoping that others wont have to meet the same challenge again, when an unexpected problem happens during the moving, my understanding is that the service a professional moving company should provide is to help the customers solve the issue by providing solutions or offering help even if the customers dont do their jobs that well, but please do not complain or blame the customers or even refuse to cooperate, so in other words, we pay the business to make the process easier but not more stressful. I really hope they could do better job next time to others so right now there is still quite space for improvement. But i would still thank them for the service. read more

They were hands down the BEST movers I have used in the Boston area (they are the fourth company I have used, so I have some basis for comparison). I moved from Somerville to Dedham, with a TON of stuff, including very large pieces of furniture, spread out on two floors of a large apartment- it was a big job! The fellas were super speedy, respectful, patient, friendly, funny, AND, since they were so efficient, the final cost came in at significantly less than the original quote I had from the company (by about $500). Well worth the money, and I could not be happier... If you're looking for movers, these are the guys to call! read more
