I looked for a quality mechanic for over a year in Spokane. I found one at Preedy's! They always gave my wife and me excellent experiences. They described every issue our two vehicles had and would give thorough advice concerning the work required. They would also never work on our vehicles without our consent. Their honesty and professionalism were displayed when my wife brought in her old Honda Civic. It was leaking from the front left wheel well. Preedy's called us later to inform us that our car required no work at all. The fluid that was leaking was tested and confirmed to not be a part of that model of car. They told us of a scam where people would spray fluid under a car to make it look like it was leaking. On top of that honest warning, they didn't even charge us for that time in the shop. If you're looking for a good, honest mechanic at a good price, go to Preedy's. You won't find better! read more

These guys opened in 1964 and seem to still be going strong. I don't think much has changed with the building since they opened. Don't let that fool you into thinking they aren't top quality though. Todd at the front counter was really helpful in getting me through a purchase of replacement tires for my Ridgeline. He was friendly and professional. They came in with a less expensive price than both Perception and Les Schwab and were able to get me in as soon as the tires arrived to the shop. Our experience with Preedy's was exceptionally bad. The quick summary is that they did "repairs" that we didn't want or authorize, charged more than expected, and we soon realized that they hadn't actually even fixed the car. However, when we contacted them about this, they weren't willing to help. If you want the longer version, here's what happened: The car had started to have the battery light come in or even to die. My husband, who is pretty handy, thought it was likely the alternator/voltage regulator, but got the battery tested first since it was easier to pull out. The battery was bad, so was replaced with a new battery. However, the problem persisted, so he had the alternator checked next. It tested bad, in the car, at O'Reilly's. He got a refurbished alternator and put that in. However, the same behavior continued. He took that alternator out and took it back to O'Reilly's. They tested it out of the car and said it was good. At that point, he suspected that there was something else going on, perhaps something in the electrical system, and that's when we took it to Preedy's. They said that the alternator was bad, and that O'Reily's test was not reliable. They offered to replace it with a brand-new Delco alternator. Since the vehicle was already at the shop and we didn't really want to put in another O'Reilly's refurbished alternator at that point, we agreed, but said we'd need the core back so that we could get a refund at O'Reilly's. We didn't hear anything from them for two days at which time they called to inform us that they had "warrantied" the O'Reilly alternator and put in another O'Reilly's refurbished alternator. This was NOT what they had offered and what we had agreed to, nor was it something we would have wanted them to do since obviously my husband was perfectly capable of doing that work. They also charged us the same as if they had put in the brand new Delco alternator they had said they were going to put in. They DID ultimately refund us the cost of the O'Reilly's alternator after my husband argued the point but didn't apologize or make any other accommodation for the unauthorized unwanted work. We thought that at least the car was fixed, but no. The battery light continued to come in and the car started to die again. We called Preedy's and they said there was nothing they could do because it was an O'Reilly's alternator. The alternator tests fine at O'Reilly's, not sure if that's reliable or not at this point, but the bottom line is we are out over $600 at this point and the car is not and never was fixed. read more

Ok. For the last 15 years I would take my car to preedy brothers. Luke who recently moved on Mel who retired and Jim (who passed away a few years ago) where /are amazing people. Kelly who use to own the shop was also amazing. Regrettably, they are under new owners out of Portland Oregon. I am of the opinion preedy brothers has lost the local feel. It seems they are more interested in marked up prices and selling you what you might not need. $1500 for a break job seems a bit much in my opinion. I am also of the mindset to help local businesses thrive since they help the local community. Sadly it feels like I am going into a dealership.... Who cares more about the bottom line then the local customer. I will be looking some where else. read more

Scam artist crooks!! DON'T DO BUSINESS HERE!! Mel & Chris are liars. I have a goodyear card, so limited on where I could afford to get services. Since theu quoted me $1,300.00 on repairs that I couldn't afford, I was forced to have the car towed home. These Preedy crooks charged me $145.00 to release my car the next day to the tow driver. WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP!! Mel is a jerk. Don't ever trust him or Chris. Diagnostics? All they did was pull the cover & tell me the timing belt was broken. Then, of course, the labor fees, extra costs, etc....$1,300!!! When asked for a diagnostic report, Chris took 15 minutes to write up something, which looks like a cover letter. $145? Screw You, B****!!! I will never be back & I encourage everyone else to abort this business. Go someplace else trustworthy. F*CK YOU, MEL!!! I have been using Preedy's Tire & Automotive since 1984 and I think Mel and company are outstanding. Recently I brought my 2009 Tacoma to them to have the headlight modules and rear bumper replaced with aftermarket parts. The job turned out to be more complicated and involved than what the literature and YouTube instructional videos claimed. Preedy's did an excellent job and returned my truck to me in good time and in a condition that was beyond what I expected. My husband and I stopped here after reading the raving reviews about Preedy's on the last leg of our cross-country road trip. We got a flat tire on our F-250 pick-up in the mountains of Idaho. We rolled into Peedy's hoping to either have our flat tire repaired or grab a new tire for the truck before driving our last 4 hours. We stopped elsewhere in town and it was going to be an hour and a half wait to get our tire replaced! When we showed up at Preedy's they took us in right away and helped us efficiently, kindly, and got a new tire on the truck within an hour! They were able to sell us a used tire that they had in the shop that perfectly fit out truck. It was affordable, quick, and we felt well taken care of! These people are the best I have experienced. They are knowledgeable, they listen, and they have answers to your questions. The prices are the best in Spokane for winter tires. When I ran into a problem with a leaking tire, they quickly pulled the tire and found a bad weld on the rim. Made an appointment on Monday to get my oil changed and they got me in that morning at 10:30. Being from out of town I was very skeptical, but was treated very well, and the price was lower than those oil change places, who charge more for SUV's. The mechanic did an inspection of all my fluid levels, checked the wipers for working and found my rear wiper washer hose was crimped and fixed it without charge! i can't explain how great these guys are. i had wheel/tires sent to them to install on my g37. i was treated with welcome and enthusiasm by front desk and mechanics. they answered all my questions and educated me on my install. additionally, i was expecting a huge $100+ bill - but they let me know i did not need the extras i was looking for (wheel locks + nitrogen tires) billing me around $46. the guys there overheard that i was to take a long road trip and recommended i come back to have my tires torqued again free for good measure. thank you, preedy brothers, ur staff is amazing.! read more

New to Spokane, so relied on positive reviews and called about tires for my truck. They were to be delivered from their warehouse around three, so went in early and waited. We had a miscommunication on the phone and after a considerable time waiting, I was told they had ordered the wrong size. They were extremely apologetic and promised they would have replacement tires in the morning. When I picked up my truck, I discovered they had given me a significant discount. Quality, experienced, mechanical work at a reasonable price. The owner is a mechanic who started there as an employee, and runs the place as a small town auto shop in the big city. The employees are friendly, and seem to stick around for years. I've rarely had a problem with their work, and they've never hesitated to make it right (the owner seems more interested in creating a top notch reputation than in making a quick fortune). The shop is kind of hidden between Sprague and 2nd on the east side of downtown, but it's definitely worth finding. read more
