There was a time I gave them 5 stars for being a genuine company with great service at a fair price. Unfortunately, that has changed. I'm not sure what has happened, if they have been bought out by someone else....but what was a $250 broken spring replacement a couple of years ago, is now similar work for over $1,000. Springs for $250 EACH? $120 for an $11 cable assembly?! $160 for a $20 Flange assembly? I reached out to see if there had been some mistake...no reply. Will use to be fair an honest....but has gone to the greedy scam route I'm afraid and now we are looking for a new garage door service. read more

Connor was awesome. He was prompt (early even) for both the estimate and the replacement. He was courteous and and friendly and did a great job. The only thing I didn't realize was the $200 charge for hauling away the old door I though was a a bit much and didn't know that was included in the price quoted. All in all very happy. read more

My garage door had visibly come out of alignment. Joe came out and quickly assessed the problem showing me the fraying cable and gave me a fair quote for the repair. We had garage doors installed March 2020. Garage doors started falling off track July, 2020. Garage fell off track October, 2020. April 17 2021, we received inspection report from a licensed contractor. After inspection we discovered garage doors are not the right size. Had excellent experience with Preferred Garage Doors! We were putting in a total new door and their tech Alex came out the very next morning and coordinated with our general contractor who was cutting out the wall of the garage facing alley and trimming out the opening to the specification that Alex recommended. We had a lot of tools and expensive bicycles in our garage and were so happy that Alex came right on time to install the new door and opener to secure our garage and it's contents. Ok so for the last 4 years we used a highly rated Garage Door service company for tuneups and two service calls the last one requiring a replacement of our drive unit. Late yesterday on closing the door it struck our garbage can and the door didn't stop and the tension cable on one side came completely unwound and the door was jammed. It was all cockeyed, locked up etc. I was able to disconnect the drive, straighten the door and at least get it closed and secured enough where our house was relatively safe. So this morning I called D Door Company who cheerfully offered to send someone to look at it for a fee well over a bill and a half plus parts, etc sometime on Thursday next. I declined. After looking at my favorite online coupon site, I called Preferred Doors, they had 12 highly satisfied customers and I could get 50% off on any repairs. Will at Preferred said they could be out my way by 1 to fix the door. Right at 1 Bill Tyndall showed up, inspected the door and informed me that he could have it straightened out in about 10 or 15 mins and he didn't see any parts that needed replacing. He just needed his tools. True to his word he finished in about 10 mins and then he adjusted the doors, made sure all my remotes were functional, including my outside keypad that never worked as well. He also explained how the door needed to be adjusted and how to reset it if this ever happened again. It was only when he gave me his card that I noticed this call was a good 100 mile round trip for them and probably 2 hours or more of his time. Oh and the total cost for this excellent same-day service, the coupon which cost me all of $39, about 25% of what the top rated firm in my area asked to show up later this week. read more

He also gave me parts with the best quality and warranty. He also explained to me which parts would wear out and what not to worry about.
