Hate to leave a negative review (truly never do) but have to caution people about getting work done here. I've gotten electrolysis several times in the same area on my face at a different place in the city and have never had my skin react this poorly. Broken skin, deep swelling, and uncomfortable irritation. For the first time, I'm worried about scarring. Certainly some redness and bumpiness is expected, but this is pretty concerning. read more

Oh my dear Igor!!! The best electrologist on earth!. I just thought about giving this review after being his client for 2 years. Igor is the best on his field and his prices are unbeatable. He's very patience and professional but fast enough with the little wand to treat your skin. I found Igor in Google while looking for a great electrologist in the city and he was my best choice!!. I had a bad experience with another electrologist that burned my face and after that she never replied my messages or anything when I tried to contact her, and I have to wait for my skin to heal to visit Igor for the first time. When I first contacted Igor, I sent him an email and explained to him what happened to me and even sent him pictures out. He called me as soon as he can, and gave me some after care instructions/advices for my skin to heal properly and fine. I did what he said and bought some stuff that I didn't even know about such as Witch Hazel, and after that I don't regret one single visit to his place. I also treated my skin for two years with laser before trying electrolysis and it was a waste of time and money because you can't permanently get rid of unwanted hair with laser, you just get more hair after all. When I first started my treatment, it took Igor about 1 hr and 45 mins to treat the affected area, then 1hr1/2, 1hr, 45min, 30mins and at the end 15-20 mins. I still have like 8 hairs here and there but I'm very glad that I found Igor and that I'm seeing permanent results after all. My skin is also perfectly fine with no scars or anything that tells you that I went through this whole process. Igor doesn't work during the weekends and sometimes you have to keep in mind that he's Jewish and their holidays are on different dates from ours so he doesn't work on those days. If you want to see results from your electrolysis treatments since the first time, just go and visit this place; Igor is the best!. Keep in mind that this is a one person business and you have to make your appointments with enough time in advance or just stay in contact with Igor to see how busy he is. The place is small but it has everything you need to be comfortable and for Igor to do his job. He has little organic hard candies that you can grab, tissue paper, hand sanitizer, aloe and more stuff that you can help yourself if you need to clean your hands or your face. There is a bathroom outside in the hallway that I didn't know about until months after visiting this building, but you have to get the key from Igor to open the door. Love Igor. He's office is small and quaint and there's beautiful classical music playing in the background. As for his electrolysis he's really gentle and quick. Hes got such a lovely demeanor. I wish I could give more than five stars because if I could I would! Let me tell you; my unwanted facial hair has been a serious problem for me for YEARS. Open late, but good luck with that elevator. Also, be sure to bring a flashlight to find your way down the hall if your appt is in the eve hours. And if you are say, getting the 'naughty bits done', make sure that door is LOCKED. Also, claustrophobics go elsewhere. And turn off your phone lest the guy you're seeing will magically be able to reach you after a 2 day game of phone tag AS you start the electrolysis process, leaving you in a fit of giggle-oww-giggling to his utter confusion. Now in terms of sensation: Feels like the world's thinnest needle slightly penetrating your skin for 1 whole sec, then a slight prick, then repeat 100X I am a wuss so at times, esp in the 1st 10 mins, I made noise, but generally if you feel pain, it's only like 2% at most in terms of potency. But then again I was having my underarms done, not my $^%&# %$*@!!! And although everyone's hair pattern is different, dear GOD did it take a long time to finish 1 pit! We're talking 90mins! And technically it was only 85-90% done by the time he wanted to close up shop! So I can't imagine how long it would take to do, say, a full BACK. But I want my undies DONE! --'underarms' that is. Read carefully... Preferred Image is the best or one of the best Electrolysis services in NYC. I suffer from hyperpigmentation and a scar would be left on a bruise or acne even if I don't touch it. So I'm very funny about my skin and I try my hardest to keep it looking good. So I was a little skeptical about getting this done because I was fearful of scarring. Igor told me through communication that it was all about technique and there shouldn't be too much scarring. Well he was right! I have practically no scars aside from tinny little dots on I guess certain stubborn hairs and the rest of the face is smooth. Allow one to three days for the swelling to go down and after that you should be fine. He was focus the process was painless aside from minor pinching and very professional. "You get what you pay for!" Ah I was really hoping I would have this place as my new Electrolysis, since Nios at Columbus Circle is a bit far. But sadly, Igor is not as fast as the techs I had @ Nios & I've had at least three of them who each get the same amount of area I requested done in 1/2 the time it takes him 45-60 mins to do. Whenever I went for a cleanup, both arms-pits and the bikini area were treated. But at this place, I went for the armpits only, which doesn't have much left, and yet 48 mins pass and I had to ask him to switch to the other side so I could at least both sides done. My guess is that he strategically planned to do a certain amount of area at a certain amount of time and pace for the price $80/hr. Or regardless of the cost of the service he provides he just not fast enough. read more

Amazing electrologist, location, and results. Igor has been the third electrologist (and last) I've been to on this quest to banish the 'stache that is resistant to waxing and the other unwanted hairs that need to go with it. If you are regularly removing hair in an area, it's cost-effective to shell out the money to get rid of it permanently. I've been visiting him since October 2016 after redeeming the $80-for-$60 deal and so far, he's my go-to person and have no interest in visiting anyone else. His prices are reasonable and you get the service and expertise you'd expect. Just be considerate of his time and others, as you/I are just one of many. It is a cozy, open space (a box with no dividers) that is organized and very well-lit. There is a massive mirror on the wall to get a good inspection of the area in mind. Igor is so warm, polite and smiley which I love. He plays classical music which I find far more relaxing and enjoyable than listening to NPR. He is fast, diligent and VERY gentle (combine that with the classical music and you are looking at a nap lol.) I find the sessions to be more tolerable than the previous ones. He also doesn't rush you out as soon your time is up. He is flexible in starting and ending just a few minutes beyond the scheduled time whereas others have rushed me out on the dot. I should probably not write this, to make sure this place isn't getting too popular, na lets try not to be too selfish here. So I am not going to write about why Electrolysis or not, we got google for that and just focus on my experience here: General stuff: This is a one man operations in one tiny treatment room. Personally I don't see how the elevator that someone else mentioned is an issue. Pros: So far good results... I update if that changes longer term Not uncomfortable, though I probably have an above average pain threshold I felt this is generally way better than with say laser treatment I tried As someone else stated, open late if necessary and making an appointment within a few days always worked out. We always started on time and the technician works diligently for the exact time, exactly what you need when you pay by the hour. Still you need min an hour to do say an armpit, not the technicans fault, that techique just takes a bit longer. Cheap and clean Technician was always super friendly to me. Cons: Normally no app. on weekends I was told (even though I personally don't need that anyway) Since there is only one person if you want the weekly slot that someone else has, you got a problem. read more

This was my first session, and I will be coming back for more! The process was not at all painful, I actually fell asleep. Igor was quick and efficient and even quickly responded to my follow up questions sent via text. Some tips however, because I did breakout with tiny whiteheads all over the area that was treated because I didn't follow the correct after-care process. Have Neosporin or any Antibiotic ointment on hand, and apply as soon as you can. Do not cleanse with face wash right after treatment, instead I wish I just used a warm cloth, followed by witch-hazel then Neosporin. Oh well, I know for next time! The irritation, tiny white heads and redness went away after 24 hours, but I will follow the right process next time to hopefully avoid it all together. read more

I've gotten electrolysis here twice. Igor is very nice, gentle with my face and I did not form any scabs or anything on my face. He always applied witch hazel, which was great. Prices are affordable for NYC prices and with my weird schedule, the hours worked out amazingly for me. I did not feel uncomfortable at all. Something to note that I didn't like was that after a certain hour, someone has to come down and open the door for you. Lastly, I stopped coming here because of response time. I think I texted him once or twice for a third appointment, but I did not get a response back. I'm really big on a quick response time or even a response period (because I understand people are busy and don't have their phones on them all day). I felt like that was flaky and decided to stop going. If I'm paying about $80/hr and giving a $20 tip every time, I expect a lot more. If it's a challenge to make an appointment or even reschedule, that for me isn't worth it. I need someone efficient. I found someone else who's amazing, works even faster with the hour time period, cheaper per hour (uses the same machine) and is an extremely efficient communicator / scheduler. read more
