Bob gave a very fair bid and delivered on everything he said he would. He was helpful with ideas for colors schemes and delivered on everything he said he would. His crew was great: experienced, friendly and careful to not let our little dogs escape. They knocked it out quickly, cleaned up and took good care of everything along the way. I hired AAA Preferred Painting to paint my new home, and I wish I could give them 10 stars. In the sea of shifty contractors, the difference AAA Prefered Painting brought was so refreshingly wonderful. I knew when Bob came out, that they were a promising company. He was smart and paid a lot of attention to detail. He was so friendly, and itemized all of the charges, so we could figure out the best course of action for the painters. When the proposal came back thousands less than other bids we got, I knew we had to give them a shot. I was astounded at the service we got from them. They were quick to schedule, and get the job done. Bob supervised the project so very well, by frequently coming by to check on the painters' quality of the work. The painters were very polite, and so talented with their work. The end result was my house looking awesome!!! When it came time to send them a check, there were no hidden charges, it was exactly the amount they said it would be. I'll definitely hire them again for future projects! Bob gave us a good quote on painting our house. A friend down the street was happy with his service. I asked him about using Behr Paint and he insisted on using Dunn Edwards paint. We chose to paint our house a blue and white. Bob recommended that we even do more blue at the front of the house, which was a good idea. When the job was complete we noticed paint on our outside concrete areas so the workers came back. After they left we noticed our gate was damaged. I had Bob come out to inspect and he came up with excuses why it wasn't his guys. Finally after going round and round with him he paid for the gate repair. His crew was too afraid to tell him that they had damaged it. The crew told us Bob would charge them for any mistakes. A couple months later our blue on the front of our house began to have odd discolorations. First Bob said it was from the ocean air, then his workers may have not stirred the paint, which didn't make sense. He had his crew repaint the blue but a short time later it began to discolor again. Finally he brought out his Dunn Edwards rep. The rep told me the blue was a paint that should only be used inside and not meant to be used outside. Clearly this is the painter's responsibility to know these things. He is the expert not us. But Bob blamed this on us for picking the blue and said he had already spent enough money on our gate. Bob refused to fix the problem and only offered to charge us his costs for the paint and we would pay the labor. All to fix his mistake. So our house has these discolorations through out the exterior. read more

Buyer beware. All was good until the crew lead took beer from my fridge and left a mess in my backyard. There is still a part of my home that was not painted. Bob showed up asking for full payment before the job was completed in order to "get the check in before the bank closed"... fool me once. Bob was a nice enough guy but his crew (Bob does not paint any more) was horrible. Plenty of other options out there. read more

What I can tell you is that Bob is a fast talking salesman. Make sure everything you want is written in the contract or he will try to screw you. The estimate is your protection and make sure you list type of paint etc. They are not very professional and it appears that Bob does not have control over his workers. So about a year ago I was pressured to leave a favorable review for Bob Short and Preferred Painting. Reluctantly I did so, but I only spoke about Pedro who is one of the painters for Bob. Within 3 months of the job my house started peeling off. I called Bob and he came to fix the spots but charged me $350 dollars to do so. The first rain came and I got 10 more spots where the paint started peeling off. Now it's been a year and my house has hundreds of little spots where the paint is chipping, peeling, cracking, and falling off. Now I have to hire someone else to repaint my house but this time I will be smarter about how I go about it. Bob Short rushes his workers to complete the job faster than they can do it. They didn't power wash my house correctly before they started painting and they didn't let it fully dry before they started painting. They only placed one coat of paint but told me it was two coats. THE PREP IS THE KEY TO EVERYTHING ON A PAINT JOB and Bob Short rushed the prep on my job. My house is not easy to paint but he underpriced the job and then he started cutting corners to make it work for himself. A HUGE RIP OFF for the customer. First impression is always a big deal. My girlfriend & I in need of a quality painter to paint a room in her Home in Tustin. The quote on their website say "Residential Interior- A Wall, a room , or complete home ." I call and the rude woman that answered the phone said " Sorry , we only paint complete houses" and hung up. Their website is incorrect and misleads a customer to call. I response to owners comment. It false . The receptionist specifically said you paint complete homes and absolutely didn't offer any Handyman before she hung up!!! read more

Bob Short - owner. NEVER HIRE HIM - NEVER He comes in with arrogance and fast talk. Talks about how much more money he can make in south oc, but, he'll do me a favor and take on my job in north oc. He quoted me for exterior painting and wood repair- then lowered price and against my better judgement signed contract and gave him deposit. He then changed start date on me three times. Four weeks later his crew (not him), come and half ass power wash the house. Next day, he and crew show up all talking in Spanish (which I understand), his guy tells him wood repair is to much and he can't do it. Bob then tells me he's going to go to Ganahl lumber for wood (down the street), and three hours later he finally answers my text. HE PROCEEDED TO ARGUE WITH ME ABOUT SIDING AND WOOD REPAIR. I had new custom made siding in my garage and he again went round and round that it wasn't going to fit. *He wanted me to give him cash to go have new siding made. My neighborhood all uses this, so I knew he was wrong. Bob finally says he will have a new crew do the job the following week, Now I'm over four weeks behind because of him and told him no more. He has one excuse after another and became rude and aggressive. Told him no more, refund my deposit we are done. Took a week, but received deposit back. Deeply disappointed and regret with decision to go with AAA Preferred Painting I paid high price for the exterior painting of the house and was promised with quality job but it turned out to be the worse one we ever received from a contractor. The painters said 2 full coats of paint were done, we looked over and showed them many unpainted large spots (even in the small area). Bob, the owner instructed his team just to take paint brush to cover the unpainted spots instead of doing it properly again as promised. This is the first and very last that we could use AAA Preferred Painting. Any of you consider to hire them for the job, better be home to watch and see what they do. Many of us want new coats of paint for protection, not a very thin coat just to make the surface look new. read more

Bob showed up for the quote. I wanted to use the Behr paint I already purchased, he talked me into using his Dunn Edwards instead. Fine. On the first day, he dropped off 2 painters, no transportation, no porta potty. I asked where they would go to the bathroom, he said they could walk to the nearest public restroom. Nope, they asked my dog sitter to use my bathroom each day to do their major business (if you know what I mean). A few days into the job, just 1 painter was onsite doing it all by himself. I noticed no primer was put on the 1st wall before it was painted. I told Bob, he supposedly went by and got that resolved. The job was supposed to take 4 days, it lasted almost 2 weeks. Bob wanted the final payment in cash because he was on his way to Vegas. Not my problem, I wrote a check. This was Oct 2015, the paint started peeling on my garage by March 2016. I called Bob and left a message, of course no call back. It is now 2018, the paint job was supposed to last 8 years, but it's failing all over the place. It seems the front of my house is holding up, but the back and garage, not seen by the public, is peeling off in big chunks. read more

Saw the advertisement for the Company in one of the home improvement magazines we receive in the mail. Called and promptly received an appointment for a quote. Bob came out and inspected the home for exterior paint and termite damage wood replacement. He gave a very reasonable quote and asked for a small deposit to hold the work start date.We were able to go to Dunn Edwards to select our paint. The project got delayed a few days, however, they notified us beforehand and kept us apprised of the start date. The work team at the house was excellent. They worked diligently and were very respectful of the property and were clean. The stucco around the foundation is great and the cracks/wood damage all repaired (either with bondo or replaced and cracks filled with caulking). All windows were caulked as well. When the team found anything in need of more repair attention, Bob called and gave us the options of what he could do and let us decide how to proceed. The entire house, trim and doors were painted. Everything looks great. We have had many compliments from the neighbors and friends. Ensure when you call for your quote and write up your contract that you are very specific with what you want so that the team can do the best job possible. read more
