The plumber arrived late for appointment. He did not seem very knowledgeable. He kept muttering to himself and also kept repeating everything he said to me. I had a leaky shower faucet. He looked at the leak and went to Association office of my condo building to request a water shut off to change a cartridge. He was told the shut off would have to be scheduled. He came back to remove cover to see if I had a shut off by the cartridge. I did not. Even though I did not have a shut off he decided to remove the cartridge anyway, but was unable to turn it. Then he said if he was able to remove the cartridge everything would get quite wet because the water wasn't able to be shut off. Then he said he didn't want to get wet and would not try to remove the cartridge. He told me that he would have to return in 3-5 days when the water shut off to my tier could be scheduled. Since he could not remove the cartridge he decided that it was on too tight. He told me I would have to soak rags in vinegar and wrap them around the cartridge and keep rags wet until he returned. He told me if I didn't do this that he might have to go into the wall in the hallway to get to the cartridge. I told them that he would have to get permission from the Association to do something so drastic. The Association told him no. Then before he left he told me to keep the bathroom door closed and leave the ceiling fan on until he returned in 3-5 days. He closed the door. I told him that I had the fan on but wasn't sure it was even working. He did not check the fan and closed the door. When he left, he left muddy boot prints from my bathroom all the way to my front door. When I responded to the ad on Yelp the price to come out was quoted as $69.99 to come out. When he replied to my email he changed the price and said it would be $39.99, but before he left he changed the price again to $69.99. I am a disabled senior citizen dealing with a stranger in my unit and was afraid to question him. I notified his company about the mess he made and they said they had no one to clean it up except him. I told them I did not want him coming back at all because I didn't trust him. I also talked to Association office and we decided he was not competent and that he should not return. I hired a different plumber to come and look at the faucet. They came and found the bathroom door closed and asked me why it was closed. I told them that Preferred Plumbing closed the door. When the door was opened my entire bathroom was dripping water - from the ceiling, down the walls, dripping from the light fixtures and my medicine cabinet. All of the knobs on both my medicine cabinet and my vanity were corroded from the dripping water. The paint was pealing off some of the walls and bubbling up on others. The stain on my medicine cabinet was also peeling off. The floor was so wet I had to put towels down so this plumber could have access to the leaky faucet. Even though I had told Grant that I didn't believe the fan was working, he never checked it before he closed the door. The light fixture was blinking off and on. The new plumber told me that the water probably got into the walls and may have shorted out the wires. Even the floor tiles were coming up. The bathroom door was so distorted from the excessive water it had absorbed it had to be forced to open it all the way. I have been back and forth with Preferred Plumbing explaining the discrepancy in the pricing and the amount of damages Grant caused by closing the door, but they decided that Grant was not at fault. They also refused to adjust the pricing even though I sent them a copy of the email that Grant sent to me quoting the price as $39.99. When the new plumber came he had no problems removing the cartridge even though I had been unable to apply the vinegar soaked rags that Grant insisted were necessary. I would not recomend Grant or Preferred Plumbing to anyone. They changed the pricing and caused a lot of damage to my bathroom. They accepted no responsibility for the price changes Grant made and refused to take responsibility for any of the damages that Grant caused by closing the bathroom door without checking to see if the fan was working even though I told Grant that I did not believe it was working. read more

I contacted Preferred Professional Plumbing after waking up to dirt in my shower and two toilets that would not flush. I also had a slight smell coming from my laundry drain. Not taking any chances, I submitted a service request through Yelp. The manager messaged me back. Their service call was the cheapest and they were also able to get someone out to me within 3 hours. Nicolas (2 year apprentice) and Grant (17 years licensed) came out. They greeted me at the door, shook my hand, and requested permission to enter my home. Grant was hilarious. After fixing my outside clog (see attached videos), they also unclogged my bathroom draining by cleaning it, and most importantly Grant worked some magic and got my shower pressure to be TWICE good. I was worried about one issue - a possible difficult pipe problem. When they came out they did so quickly, and not only figured out where and what the problem is, but also noticed that my boiler's controller is leaking gas. The smell was always there (new house, lived there less than 6 months), but it was faint enough I couldn't recognize what it is (never smelled it before). I had two other plumbers open the same closet in other visits over this time and no one paid attention to it. They explained my options for both of my issues, and were honest and clear about the urgency levels of each issue, which helped me make informed choices. They even took on calling the warranty phone line for replacement parts for me. I found water marks on my first floor ceiling. For inspection and probably plumbing service I send out request for quotes. Preferred Professional Plumbing responded timely and sent Grunt and Nicholas the next day. Grunt has 15 years of experience and Nicholas is helpful to cooperate with him. Grunt quickly diagnosed the issue ~leakage from the shower drainage and explained the solution ~cut a small area of the ceiling drywall and replace a better quality drainage. We agreed on a reasonable price and they started to work right away. In 2 hours the job was done efficiently and the affected place was cleaned up. I was satisfied with their work and won't be hesitated to recommend them if anyone needs help for plumbing services. read more

This is the third time we've used Preferred Professional Plumbing in the last couple months. First, Grant and his assistant came out to replace our hose bib, the part that provides water to an outside spigot. While they were on that visit, I mentioned we'd need to buy a new kitchen faucet. He took a look and suggested we call Moen and ask for a warranty replacement. That saved us from buying a $300 faucet. He came out the following week and installed the new faucet. Both of those visits were great. Then last Friday, our 75-gallon water heater died. I called Grant, and he said he'd be able to get out the next day to replace it with either a new tank, or a tankless model. We opted for the tankless one for unlimited hot water. He again showed up on time and got us hot water with some temporary connections... you never realize how much you miss hot water until you don't have it. He came back twice more to run all the permanent water, gas, and air lines. He's a real artist with piping. I'll attach some pictures so you can see how neat and tidy the installation is. They were timely and that's the best we will say. Cost to replace a gasket at bottom of toilet tank was $370 or so and it took them less than 10 minutes. Price to put on a new 3/4 Insinkerator quoted at $800+ which we passed on. Getting it done by Home Depot for less than half that amount. The two guys spent most of the hour talking, talking, talking at us and one guy kept looking in the mirror at his hair. Felt like they were trying to convince two dumb women to spend way more money than is necessary. I figure they thought they had us fooled, but we only did the toilet because it was leaking. All the other work is going to be done by Home Depot. I wouldn't use this company if you have price considerations and no, this wasn't emergency pricing, nor were their parts a better quality.
