The theater went on to make more history as the setting for the 1989 film "Dead Poet's Society" with Robin Williams and Robert Sean Leonard (along with a local private school St. Andrews.) Today, the theater has been restored (after nearly losing it on several occasions) and is used for showing films and as the stage for local theater events. The Manhattan Short Film Festival is hosted here. When that festival first came out, the Everett was one of only 26 locations in the US but now there are 500 venues worldwide; still it's a big deal. If you like new and innovative films, put that September event on your calendar. Several local theater groups put on shows at the Everett. Most recently GP&L (Gods Power & Light), a theater group that has been around for 30 years, put on "Jesus Christ Superstar" and the general consensus was that the production was out of this world. The small stage is intimate, the seating, including the balcony, are the old style velvet covered theater seats and very comfortable. Future products-- Junie B Jones, All Shook Up and The Music Man (Jr) are slated for later this summer, along with theater camps for those 12-18 yrs old. If you are in or around Middletown, Delaware and looking for some entertainment possibilities, we are very blessed to have an old-timey movie theater with films and live shows. Several good restaurants, an ice cream, a pretzel spot and an Irish pub are all in the vicinity. Put it on the list for a fun date night or taking the kids to a show.

Thanks to an early holiday gift, I attended my first performance, the 2025 Christmas Show Deck the Halls. I didn't make any food purchases, but I could smell the inviting aroma of popcorn when we entered the theatre. We enjoyed the lively, excellent singing and performances, dazzling costumes, set designs, and a top-notch band. Deck the Halls is a fantastic way to celebrate Christmas with nostalgic songs and remember Jesus' birth. I must note that 1600 people exiting the theatre parking lot is the only honest, non-five-star worthy concern. AMT Memberships are available, and there is already a performance schedule of shows for 2026; tickets are not sold through 3rd-party resellers.

This is my second visit…read more Both times my mother's walker, without which she cannot walk, was taken from her and placed against the wall. It is illegal to remove medical assistance devices and she was left with no way to even get to her walker. We brought a small foldable one and she was refused to place it at her seat. This was after we were told to make our way through a very crowded gift shop to the other side of the venue, even though our seats were in the middle. This is one of the least accommodating venues I have been to for people with mobility issues. From the parking spots to removing a medical device, it is wholly unacceptable. The theatre itself is a very nice, modern establishment and the performances I have attended are wonderful productions. The ticket prices are a bit high but better seats always are. If you have no mobility issues you will likely be thrilled with this venue.

Worst customer service…read more Purchased 2 tickets in advance for a Friday show. Unfortunately we had a death in the family and was unable to attend. We called the theater Wednesday morning, hoping to either receive a refund or tickets to another day/show. We recieved no return phone call. We left multiple messages before we finally reached someone, because we called them. We even stopped in the theater on Thursday evening to try to speak with someone (while they had a show going on) and there was no one at the front desk or anywhere for the matter. Finally got a call the following week with the option to see a show THAT NIGHT.... mind you we both work full time.... because that was the "only option"... we had to pass. Now we're out of $50 Thanks for nothing. We won't ever return to your establishment.

We saw Joshua and the giants were really cool and they made it seem like we're were inside the walls of Jericho as the came rumbling down on the seventh day of marching. It's always interesting to see how they incorporate the live animals into the story. The bathrooms are always clean and lines move surprisingly fast for so many people in attendance at the theater. Everything in the rest of the theater areas is also is tidy and clean.
