For years, driving on Route 30 going to Longwood Gardens or Strasburg, I noticed the American Music Theater but never attended any of the shows. Thanks to an early holiday gift, I attended my first performance, the 2025 Christmas Show Deck the Halls. I didn't make any food purchases, but I could smell the inviting aroma of popcorn when we entered the theatre. We enjoyed the lively, excellent singing and performances, dazzling costumes, set designs, and a top-notch band. Deck the Halls is a fantastic way to celebrate Christmas with nostalgic songs and remember Jesus' birth. I must note that 1600 people exiting the theatre parking lot is the only honest, non-five-star worthy concern. AMT Memberships are available, and there is already a performance schedule of shows for 2026; tickets are not sold through 3rd-party resellers. read more

Right at the start I want to say why I took away a star for this theatre. This is my second visit. Both times my mother's walker, without which she cannot walk, was taken from her and placed against the wall. It is illegal to remove medical assistance devices and she was left with no way to even get to her walker. We brought a small foldable one and she was refused to place it at her seat. This was after we were told to make our way through a very crowded gift shop to the other side of the venue, even though our seats were in the middle. This is one of the least accommodating venues I have been to for people with mobility issues. From the parking spots to removing a medical device, it is wholly unacceptable. The theatre itself is a very nice, modern establishment and the performances I have attended are wonderful productions. The ticket prices are a bit high but better seats always are. If you have no mobility issues you will likely be thrilled with this venue. read more

my husband and I just had our first bad experience at American Music Theater. We went to see the Billy Joel Tribue Band on Saturday night. Music was so loud I had to turn my hearing aids off; didn't play most of the music he was known for. Pretty bad when you hear the people who work there commenting at intermission about how poor a job they were doing. We booked 1 handicap seat and 1 companion seat. We were advised by the box office that wheelchairs or rolling walkers could be used. A rolling walker was used and honestly if someone was behind them - it would have completely obstructed their view (for multiple rows). We were told that none of the arm rest go up - however that's not true. The usher (MEZZANINE - LEFT on 6/21/25) was super friendly and helpful. The audio was bad - it was hard to hear at various times and the "music track" was too loud. Drinks and Snacks are what you expect to pay ... gift shop is cute but packs out as it got closer to slow. read more

In need of some holiday spirit? Just Visit this venue during season, they have plenty to spare. We Enjoyed the Joy To The World holiday show at this super clean and spacious theater. It looked to be fairly new with modern bathrooms and a spacious two story interior with staircases on each side leading to sitting areas which were decorated for the seating on one side and entrances to balcony seating on the other. The first floor contained concession and reception/ticketing areas and modern bathrooms. The entire theater is pretty nicely appointed-loved the chandeliers at the entrance. The venue was decorated in holiday finery, including large bells hanging from the ceilings and two large Christmas trees on each side of the second floor seating areas. Plenty of parking surrounds all sides of the theater. The sound for it show, costumes and set designs were great. Concessions were okay-of course overpriced. Some interesting upcoming (non-holiday) shows and famous acts were advertised during our visit. We would definitely see another show at this theater. read more

This is a fantastic venue! I have been here plenty of times, and I have never had an issue. If you arrive early and can park in either of the first two lots, it's fairly easy to get out. However, if you arrive later or don't want to deal with the hassle of getting out of a lot, a ton of people park across the street at a cracker barrel. They have a small gift shop where they sell tons of cute little knick knacks. They also have a small snack bar, which has really decent price food. The seats are comfortable, and the views are great pretty much and seat in theater. read more

The theater is well maintained and has the cleanest restrooms I've ever seen in a venue like this. They have a small concession stand with food, drinks, and candy. If you are looking for something more substantial before or after the show there are a number of chain and independent restaurants in the area. Due to the size of the theater there really are no bad seats, and the tickets are reasonably priced. Came here to see The First Noel. It's a nice theater just off the main road. Plenty of parking and they have attendants to direct you. The show brings you to an enchanted forest filled at holiday dreams and wonder. From woodland magic and Santa's Elves, to the inspiring "Story of the first Christmas". Our first time at this venue. We were celebrating my father's 79th birthday. He is a huge bluegrass and Ricky Skaggs fan. Location is easy to get to. It close the Dutch Wonderland and the outlets in Lancaster. Easy parking. We arrive roughly 90 minutes early to assure we would get handicapped parking close as both my parents need wheelchair access. There is plenty of close parking with attendants directing parking. Lots of side door entry on either side with no stairs. There are some stairs into the front entrance. There is a gift shop and large concession stand. Concessions are extremely reasonably priced. We bought 2 iced teas, 1 bottle of water, 1 diet coke, 1 box of popcorn, 1 package of warm cinnamon pecans, and two boxes of candy for $20!!! Incredible! The website states they only allow certain purse sizes and all are subject to search. This was not the case. Seating was very comfortable with nice wide aisles between rows for plenty of leg room. There are also drink holders situated on the backs of the seats for the row behind - very nice.@0 The stage is not the typical tall stage so front row seats were great -- no stiff neck from looking up after the show. Even from the outside aisle end you could see well. Acoustics were pretty good. After the show all side doors in the auditorium were open with direct access to the parking lot making for quick and easy exit. Parking lot was well lit. Attendants did a great job exiting cars to two separate exits so as to not block up traffic. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was getting in with a wheelchair - no automatic doors. It was challenging to open & hold the door while pushing my mom in until a bystander offered to help. read more

The venue offers a variety of acts and many of the Sunday shows begin at 3 PM. The audience seems to arrive early, even though there is little to do inside before the doors to the room open. That being said, the music was BEYOND loud, the lights that repeatedly scanned the crowd were so bright you were blinded half the time, and the overall rather boring show made it incredibly disappointing. This was my second time at this venue. I was in Row S and really could not see the middle of the stage at all. The screens on the side were not in use for the show. I enjoyed Dancing With the Stars on Tour, but the tickets were pricey ($200 per seat) and I couldn't see well. I was shifting around in my seat to see around the head of the person two rows in front of me. When there were only two performers on the stage and they were in the middle of the stage, I couldn't see them at all, not even their heads. I previously saw the First Noel and sat in the first row of the upper level. The side screens were in use and I also could see well from there. read more

Thumbs Down..... Being a local, I've been here a number of times over the years, but I can't recommend this venue at all. The reason is they mainly get tribute bands ... but charge you a high price as if you are seeing the real band. This is every year. They do get maybe 4 or 5 real bands or artists a year, but these are mostly 2nd rate bands. I've seen Foreigner (highly recommend this band), The moody Blues, Paul Revere and The Raiders, Tommy James, Bad Finger (Highly recommend) etc .... but they rarely book bands of this caliber. What you normally get at AMT is the former replacement bass player for a so so 'name brand' band, so do your research of the current band they booked. This is a shame because they should have top caliber bands performing there most every week. These bands are out there touring all over the country! It's obvious AMT doesn't want to pay to get good bands (but they want to take YOUR money) even though Sellersville Music Theatre in Sellersville, PA routinely books top ORIGINAL bands. I've seen the Vanilla Fudge there twice (Amazing!), Gary Pucket and the Union Gap (Amazing!), missed Uriah Heep, etc. If a small venue like this, maybe 1/10th the size of the AMT, can pay to get good bands, what does that say about the AMT with their high priced tribute bands? read more

Great venue, only exception to that is parking in their lot is a nightmare due to one entrance & exit onto busy Lincoln Highway. I recommend parking across the street at Rockvale Outlets & walking across the street or next door in shopping plaza and walking over via the covered bridge. Otherwise be prepared to wait 15-30 minutes or longer to exit the lot after a show. But the venue itself has great sight lines & a very good sound system from most any seat. There is also balcony seating. They sell food & beverages (no alcohol). They have a cute music & entertainment themed gift shop. I have seen many shows here over the last 5-6 years. Most recently in July 2021 & things are back to normal. Oh, you also will most likely have to wait to use the restrooms (especially at show intermissions) read more

Family friendly atmosphere and good accessibility for older patrons. Parking fills up quickly so if you want to park closer arrive earlier. Everyone is friendly, including ushers. The American Music Theatre is a fine enough place to catch a performance, although it does have a couple strikes against it that might curtail your enjoyment. First off, they don't serve alcohol. Okay, that doesn't have to be a deal breaker. You can plan to get a drink before or after, or just pre-game in the parking lot as so many of the experienced patrons seem to do. They rotate through lots of acts all year, so there are lots of season ticket holders on any given night. Consider the demographic of who purchases season tickets at a performance venue. When tribute band Freddie Mercury is screaming "Get up and dance!" you can count on most of the audience sitting in place. If that's the sort of thing that affects your concert experience you should factor it in. (I ain't no spring chicken myself, and he did eventually get us out of our seats.) They have a lot of staff dedicated to directing traffic, but exiting the tightly packed parking maze can take a while, so be sure to use the facilities before you leave.Parking escape takes a while. read more

This is our 27th year attending your Christmas show. And I have to say, it was the best we have seen in those 27 years. Christmas isn't Christmas without attending your show. It was so difficult to miss it last year which made us even more the happy this year. We remember the days of having Wess Cooke there whom we miss dearly, and the woman who was so tiny and used to play the elf. But even with those memories in the past, you all out did yourself this year. The choice of song, the near entire second half about the reason for the season, the absolute gorgeous duets, and the beautiful story line. I want to thank you for making our Christmas just the more special this year. We suffered a miscarriage a month ago and our spirits couldn't have been lower, but after seeing your show today, you gave us something to smile about. I've gone here several time, only ever for the Christmas show but I have always enjoyed myself. There is ample parking and I love that they have directors before and after to help you in and out of the lot. The building is gorgeous inside and there are also ample and clean restrooms. They have a gift store and a snack stand inside. When you enter the actual theatre the stage is very large and even if you sit in the back you have a really great view of the stage. I've enjoyed both shows I've gone to see. The staff is also incredibly nice! Definitely a good venue to head to if they're showing something you're interested in! read more

Every year they do the same basic sequence of routines for their Christmas show and we dutifully go. This year it seemed to be (for us) a little tiresome. I want to also add that it surprised us that, given the state of current world events, the show commentary noted that Joseph and Mary were travelling in "Palestine," when one of the songs they actually sang included the classic lyrics, "born is the king of Israel." Why have a narration/commentary that could stoke political controversy? Just say they travelled to Bethlehem and leave it at that. read more
