In the planning process he was relaxed and prepared, needed very little of us, but was also willing to take whatever instruction we asked for, and was a calming, confident presence on our wedding day. We hit him with a somewhat last minute, very strange request to sample lines from our favorite SNL skit and work them into the dancefloor music, assuming he would think we were crazy, but he enthusiastically had the audio pulled within days and went above and beyond mixing a custom song for us with the SNL audio. A week before the wedding we asked for a disco ball and he found a way to borrow one at no extra cost to us. He was also a wonderful MC, which was a more significant element of the day than we anticipated. He was so active on the day of, constantly monitoring volume levels, crowd mood and reaction, etc., adjusting volume of the mic on my groom for when he was speaking versus when I was speaking a few feet away from the mic - it was all flawlessly executed. We were very torn between having a live band and a DJ, and were so incredibly happy that we chose Braden. We highly highly recommend him!

I currently don't live in Seattle, but my wedding will be in Seattle. So I spoke with Dan over the phone, we even did a Skype session to discuss what musics I like, what uplightings I wanted, everything was going fine. I was ready to move forward with Dan, so we scheduled an on-site visit. Because I am from out of town, we made the appointment two months before the actual visit. Then a week before the appointment, I emailed Dan to confirm, and he said no problem. Guess what, the NIGHT before the appointment, after 10pm, I got an email from Dan's brother, saying Dan just realized he has another "engagement" at the same time slot the next day and couldn't make the appointment. Now here comes my complaints: First of all, if an appointment was made two months in advance, you work your schedule around it. I was only in town for two days to visit friends and family, and I made sure I stuck to my appointment, why can't you?! It'd be different if you have a family emergency, then I'd understand. But noooo, he had "another engagement". I was completely speechless when I read the email. Speaking of the email, here comes my second complaint--show some respect to a prospect customer, at least CALL, APOLOGIZE, and say you can't make it to an appointment you made two months before. Not only didn't Dan have the respect and decency to personally call me, he even asked his brother to EMAIL. I wish I could copy and paste the email here, but I assure you that the email was not apologetic at all. It was just a normal email, stating Dan couldn't make it to my appointment the next day because he has another engagement. Third and lastly, even after the fact, Dan didn't make an attempt to reach out to me, to again, APOLOGIZE. Sure I am just one bride and will only get married once, but I have a wedding planner and I make sure she will never recommend such unprofessional services to any of her other brides. Not to mention I have enough younger friends in Seattle who will eventually get married. In summary, again, this review only applies to their professionalism. But ask yourself, if you are a bride, do you want to hire someone that's flaky? I think not.

My husband and I been to several weddings and after seeing some dance floor quieter than others, we are so incredibly thankful for DJ Rocryte for being the best DJ representing us for the best day of our lives. When we were looking for a DJ for our wedding, one of the most important quality to us was personality. Not only he was talented and came highly recommended, he was prompt in all his response, professional and highly knowledgeable of music that we are looking to match the ambiance we want to create for our special day. We only met with him once prior to the day, and gave him a list of our playlists. We also have a weird playlist- from oldies Chinese song from our parents era, to some from our era such as music from Crazy Rich Asian, from Backstreet Boys to Frank Sinatra to Bruno Mars. But, he knew exactly the vibe we were going for because he even played music that wasn't on the list and his music got people swaying and jumping! We did spent a little more than what we wanted for a DJ but DJ Rocryte was worth every investment! Granted that we have a traditional and conservative crowd and have low expectations, we have never seen so many uncles and aunties on their feet. Our dance floor was packed all night and we have to turn on the light in the end cause the venue was closing. Until today, we still talked and laughed about all the funny grooves seen on the dance floor, beautiful memories to keepsakes forever thanks to DJ Rocryte! He perfectly set the scene for every part of our day, from the pre-ceremony music greeting the guests, to the low-key indie music behind our taco cart dinner, to our rocking dance party. He was super easy to work with- great communication (including a super in-depth questionnaire), laid-back personality, great knowledge, and a wide range of skills to take care of everything. He and his wife were a rock star team the day of; setting up at the reception venue mid-afternoon before heading to the park for our ceremony and dinner, then tearing down at the park and getting the party started at the reception with a stupidly short turn-around time. He took requests (including a super weird one from a groomsman that turned out to be one of the most hilariously awkward perfect moments of the night), played I'm On a Boat with all the expletives after all the old people left (ummmm... YES PLEASE. I didn't even say it was my very favorite song...), balanced the sound beautifully for both the music and the mics (indoor and outdoor), and just generally was an awesome human to interact with. My only complaints: He played Billie Jean at a wedding... (I can't really dock him for it, though, because I didn't specifically list it on my do not play list). He Might have played some must-play songs before we got there to hear them. He set up and stood right at the top of the aisle during the ceremony, so he and his wife are in a lot of our processional photos, which isn't ideal (but could be the fault of an oversight by our coordinator, not him).
