I waited a long time to see Dr. Sander based on his reviews. I was referred by vein Doctor Who was also pretty awesome Dr. Brennan. It was a spot on one of my legs I've had for a long time and I wanted to confirm it wasn't anything weird. Also, My general physician wanted me to get my arms, looked at since I work outdoors, and the sun is always on me to ensure it wasn't cancer. I knew it would be the right call to see him. My wife has a chronic skin problem that neither her former dermatologist nor the specialist he recommended could deal with. Dr. Sander immediately diagnosed it and has treated it now for a couple of years. His staff, both office and medical, are excellent and friendly. It is true that he is often behind schedule -- and I remember when most doctors were not so attentive to the clock -- but we find that a small price to pay for expert care -- and I use "care" in its fullest sense. read more

I had another great visit with Dr. Sander. He was friendly and chatted with me while he completed my annual skin cancer screening. He was very thorough. He found one spot needing a biopsy but reassured me if biopsy happened to be positive it would need removal but would not be a melanoma. Dr. Sander is a great dermatologist; very experienced. He also educates you when he sees anything on your skin even if no action is needed. My husband and I have been seeing him for years. The only issue sometimes is wait time to see him. read more

I saw Dr Sander on a few different occasions for a few different things. Dr Sander is very knowledgeable and I trust his opinion. He is not my problem with this location. My main problem with this place is that every single time I have come here, I have had to wait an additional 40 mins after my appointment time. I'm not sure what the point is in making an appointment if they aren't going to see you close to that time anyway. The website says that they take Aetna however, the lady at the front desk says they don't so I think it is misleading and they need to update their site. COVID: - They do require every one to wear a mask - They don't take your temperature but they do ask you a number of questions related to if you've been exposed to Covid or if you feel sick at the moment Overall, I came here because I needed a spot removed and it was necessity rather than luxury. The front desk staff sets the tone and tempo for the level of service one can expect from this practice. I was treated as if I mattered. They are very "switched on", pleasant, highly professional and seem to value where they work. This spoke volumes to me prior to meeting Dr. Sander for the first time. I was very nervous about this visit but Dr. Sander's easy manner immediately put me at ease. I have avoided doctors for the past 20+ years due to disappointing experiences and service providers who seem to be more impressed with themselves than I ever felt merited. Dr. Sander practices his art at a very high level and though it is not in my nature to like doctors, I could not help becoming a Dr. Sander fan. Dr Sanders is one of the best doctors in Austin! He has treated myself and family members off and on for the past 14 years. He is NOT your typical doctor. He takes his time and is very thorough when treating you. He is intelligent, thoughtful and appears to actually care about your health and doing everything possible to improve it. His academic and professional resume is impressive not to mention he has a great bedside manner. My recent visit involved a serious problem at a surgical site. It was a Monday, he was fully booked and I had no appointment. His front office staff member saw that the situation was serious and wasted no time in squeezing me in. I dare say she did this at some risk since they were all ready extremely busy. However, once in no time was wasted in seeing and treating me. His medical and administrative staff are professional and courteous. His office is clean, inviting and parking is a breeze. We have never used his cosmetic services so I can not speak to them but if you have any type of skin issue or problem he should be at the top of your list! read more

I love Dr. Sander! He does a great job and is super nice. I am very fair and covered in freckles and small moles. He is so thorough, always able to weed out the bad from the good, even though I make his job a little harder by being tattooed :) he has found skin cancer on me 3 times that I honestly would have never known about- bc they look like freckles! My sister goes to him, my esthetician sees him, now my coworkers are seeing him... he's a great Dr. I am uninsured and pay cash. They always give me a % off, and he always makes sure to give me samples when he can. All in all- 5 stars! read more

I have been struggling with hair loss problems for about two years. It's been really frustrating because a lot of doctors dismiss the problem as non-life threatening and unimportant and refuse to think outside the box and outside their designated field. I have been waiting to see a dermatologist for a while now and took sick leave for a couple of hours from work to see Dr. Sander. I was frustrated with my experience and I didn't even get to see the doctor! I came in 30 minutes prior to the appointment time to fill out the paperwork. It came time to my appointment time and I still hadn't been called. 10, 20, 30 minutes went by and I still haven't been told anything by the reception staff or even an apology for the wait. But I was noticing other patients getting called in before me. I could not wait any longer because I had to get back to work. I told the receptionist that I have been waiting too long and need to leave. She stated that the doctor was behind. I also told her that I've noticed other patients going in that came after me and she said it's because they have nurse appointments. I understand if they're running behind 10 min or 15 min. late but after that is no bueno! Some of us have other things to get to like a job! Not only I have to wait almost 2 months for an appointment, but I had to wait an additional 2 more months before I could start my treatment. Don't get me wrong; Dr. Sanders is an excellent dermatologist, very informative, approachable & great patient care. The problem in this office is the incompetence of the staff. The front desk was OK. The nurses did not seem like they knew what they were doing. I was always getting the wrong information from the nurses, or they were telling completely different instructions than Dr. Sanders; reasons why my treatment kept getting delay. I recommended Dr. Sanders, but make sure you get everything correct from the staff before you leave the office. read more

I have been going to Dr. Sander since 1997 when I was first diagnosed with Lupus. He is one of the best, most caring doctors in Austin. He gives me samples to try and if he has coupons he offers them up. When all my other doctors have told me there is nothing that can be done to help me, Dr. Sander won't give up and gives me hope. A couple of years ago he even called me after hours for a skin biopsy result. His staff always goes above and beyond. He is the BEST dermatologist in central Texas. read more

I am sure there are a lot of good things to say about Dr. Sanders but there is one negative thing I want to point out about his staff/office. It's about contacting the office. When I tried calling during office hours, the phone comes in busy. then I tried calling during off hours (during lunch, or after 4 pm) and there was no way to leave a message. I had a cyst that doubled in size near the top of my eye and i called the emergency line and they got me in as soon as they opened, dr sander is a great dermatologist he took his time answering all 20 questions i had :), and ive had a few other appointments beforehand for acne issues and he was very imformative of things i should avoid to lessen breakouts and we went over certain food that can trigger acne as well. I recommend dr sanders if you want a dermatologist thats very knowledgeable and cares about his patients. read more

I have seen Dr. Sander once and found him to be very professional, but when I developed something on my upper eyelid and called his office for an 'emergency' appointment, I was told that he didn't schedule emergencies into his daily schedule and that his first opening was over two weeks in the future. While I realize that there are very few dermatologic emergencies, I felt that the situation with my eyelid was important and needed to be addressed within at least the next few days. While I liked Dr. Sander, his office policy of no emergency appointments or squeezing me in between other appointments is not acceptable. Unfortunately, I will have to find another dermatologist in the Austin area. read more

Dr. Han Sander is wonderful; however his office staff is lacking in insurance information, and customer service, so it may be difficult to get in to see him. I was a patient three years ago and was so pleased with him that I recommended him to dozens of my Esthetician clients. Then one year later I tried to get in to see him, had a different plan through Obama care insurance, showed up for the appointment and was unable to see him because the front desk staff had not made the proper phone calls. They suggested that I call around to see if I could get referrals. I gave up and went home. Here it is three years later and if I wanted to see the Dr. again I have to be charged as a new patient; even though I tried to get in to see him 2 years ago.
