And if you are not happy with the care, you also have a choice to pick another place to get you or your loved one transferred to. This place should not still be in existence. Review long overdue. I tried to report them. But didn't know how. My 88 yr old dad got Covid May 2024. He was transferred here after his ER visit and few days of hospital stay to get OT/ PT. He got put into an isolation room where they moved the patient before him without letting the family know, they came looking for their mom after my dad had been transferred into the room. Then we saw the sign outside the front door that there was a scabies outbreak (that lasted at least another month more). My dad needed assistance to walk to the bathroom. The bathroom was Out of Order! They gave him a commode with no access to soap or sink for clean water. Because he was supposed to be in isolation for 4 more days, no one came to help him! The morale was so low here. Not a single heart beat in this place. He got up by himself to use the commode and walk around the room. Then one night (day 3), he was cold, so he asked for an additional blanket, the staff took the blanket from the previous patient's bed (the bedding had still not been changed and washed a few days later), and gave it to him! That is not ok in general, all kinds of health violations. did I mention earlier there was a scabies outbreak??!? #1 way to spread scabies in nursing home was thru bedding!!! The outbreak has been going on for a few weeks and was out of control. After the supposed 4 days of isolation, they still did not take my dad off. I argued with the staff. Still stuck in the same room with old bedding, with no help or any PT/OT services. We had to seek out his case manager to ask for a care conference. They did not call us first. So finally the next day we met up together, they said he needed PT/OT for at least a month. I laughed out loud. At the end of the meeting, they asked if we had any questions and we told them, yes, "I would like to have my dad discharged immediately." Thankfully he was completely able to walk around and use the bathroom by himself, we signed an AMA discharge agreement, and he left the next morning.

When grandma was first transferred there to recover from her stroke, she was in a room right next to the nursing station in that area. The center was also very accommodating and allowed one of us to stay with her throughout the night for a while. When her condition stabilized, she was moved to another room in a different wing. The room sizes vary between 2 and 3 beds, with the former costing more (how much I don't remember). There are also several dining rooms that also serve as activity rooms. Every month, there is an extensive schedule of activities, ranging from coffee socials to movie viewings (with popcorn!). Bay View is ideally located less than 5 minutes away from Alameda hospital, so in the event special medical attention is needed, the transport wouldn't take too long. Grandma had speech, occupational, and physical therapists during her stay there. I don't recall how often they were. Meals are served around 8 AM (or so), 12:30 PM, and 5:30 PM. Grandma had special instructions for only pureed food and thickened liquids. BUT this one time, there was a huge piece of chicken, sitting in the pureed chicken. Good thing grandma caught it. There were different cuisines served each day. Too bad we can't include and exclude cuisines to our liking. Ensure nutritional drinks were available upon request. This center is very flexible in the visiting hours, with a back entrance when the front lobby is closed at 8 PM. The procedure is to sign in, take a visitors badge, and sign out before you leave. There were even refreshments for visitors. Upon entering Bay View, you'll see the immense living room for dining, chatting, and even piano-playing should the mood strike you. The staff in the "Gold Coast" wing took good care of grandma. Thank you! Our family loves Marites and Annie. Marites was like a part of our family. She knew each one of our visiting family members by name and our relations. She was always very prompt with our requests. Annie had a way of getting grandma to eat when I find difficult sometimes. When grandma passed, Marites gave us hugs. I will miss having conversations her. Fannie and Sheila were also of great help during grandma's stay there.

Sadly, my Aunt and Uncle passed away in January 2024 and October 2018 respectively. The family will 'always' be indebted to Elders Inn for their loving and diligent care!
