I called Premier Locksmith because I was having trouble with my key not always turning the ignition in my Saab. I scheduled an appointment with Elliot at his home shop and took my car there to get checked out. After 5 minutes he was able to get my key working reasonably well (with a little aerosol brake cleaner shot inside the keyhole) and gave me two options for fixing it long term (1. Have me take the tumbler out and they would fix/thoroughly clean it or 2. They would take it out and do the same). My Saab's ignition tumbler is accessed by taking out one or more front seats and is not an easy job so I was glad to have him give me the option of doing it myself to save some buckos. I am now waiting for some time to do the work and bring it into him. He didn't even charge me for the quick fix. read more

12:30pm: So I called and tried to book an appointment to have keys made for my car. Guy I talked to at premier said he could give me a reduced price if I wait til Monday. I said that was fine. He asked for all of the info on my car and I felt weird about it if sitting around out there over the weekend with anyone knowing that 24 hours a day it would be in the same spot out there. I said I'd book with my house address down the street and take them to it when they showed up (its a few blocks away!). He refused to book the appointment without all of the details of my car in advance, told me he was "getting a weird vibe" and that no one ever refused to give details of the car before. Then he texted back an apology message rationalizing his response and saying I could just book it Monday if I wanted to and see if they had an appointment open then without having to give the exact location of the car. RUDE & completely without reason. Update 245pm: Guy who I'd spoken to agreed to come out between other appointments to make it right and take care of the car keys. He did it at the previously agreed price and made keys that work well in a relatively short amount of time once he had started work. So I'm giving a higher rating for making it right and putting customer service as a priority. Human moments happen. Would use again in the future...but hoping that isn't a necessity again. read more

I misplaced the keys to my scooter, and after not finding them for a week, decided to get a copy of my keys made. I called Premier Locksmith, made an appointment, and the technician arrived on time (even called to confirm he was en route), and was very professional and efficient when creating a new copy of my keys. The name of this business does not lie. I was faced with a very difficult situation in which I needed to get a key made for a very rare import scooter. I tried to get a copy of the key made for months at various places and none of them could do it. Then the giants won the world series and as I was raging in the streets I lost my key. A friend referred me to Elliot who was able to make me a key quickly. He also did not take advantage of me, even after I explained the frustrating situation. In fact, he charged me about half of what I had to pay another business last year when getting a key made for my car. The other day was was rushing around SF State trying to get ready for the semester, and some where along the way I lost my car keys :( I pulled up yelp on my phone and found Premier Locksmith. After losing the keys to my car (which has a built-in smart chip), I started calling around to find a mobile locksmith who could come to my home and re-program my old keys so I could move the car before I received a ticket (street cleaning day). I called (2) other local companies, Adam O'Neill Locksmith and Central Locksmith, who quoted me between $249 and $299 to program the first key and $49-$99 for each additional key programmed..... WOW! Since I wanted to have (2) original keys and (1) valet key reprogrammed, I was looking at a $350-$400 bill! Luckily, my girlfriend called Premier and talked to Elliott. He said he could do the first key for $150... almost $100 cheaper than the lowest cost I had been quoted by other locksmiths. In addition, they had a $40 for $20 coupon on Yelp, so the job was even cheaper. Elliott send Matt out to do the job within an hour. Matt was courteous and fast, reprogramming the keys in just seconds. In addition, he threw in reprogramming of the (2) additional keys for FREE.... something the other companies wanted to charge an additional $98-$198 for. In the end, with coupon, I paid just $130 total to have the (3) keys reprogrammed. Service was fast, courteous and I saved $220-$270 over the other quotes I received. Elliott (owner) is the most knowledgeable of the 3 locksmiths (1 from a local hardware store, the other also 5 star rated on Yelp) I contacted in regards to replacement of my 22 years old Schlage handleset (deadlatch with electrical strike plate to allow "buzzing" people in). He was the ONLY one who knew that this particular Baldwin model existed (to preserve the "buzzing in" convenience, while the included separate deadbolt made the exterior door much more secure:) The other locksmiths insisted that the above locks were no longer made! I appreciated that he arrived early during the scheduled 3 hour window period, and called shortly prior to arrival. Customer communication is definitely his forte, especially since it required several emails, and calls before I ordered the above recommended Baldwin online. Elliott is professional, amiable, patient (with my questions), efficient, and tidy (he INSISTED on sweeping the floor despite my offer). Finally, he did a stellar job in replacing my handleset (looks gorgeous, works smoothly, and clean work), and at the BEST price compared to the other two locksmiths! I mentioned to Elliott the recent one star review from Richard S. on 5/23/2012, but I think he showed professional RESPONSIBILITY in making every reasonable attempt to rectify the problem. I work in property management and have dealt with a lot of locksmiths and these guys really get the job done. One time they really helped out in a pinch during an emergency lock out situation when a past tenant changed the locks without letting us know and we couldn't get into our unit after they had moved out - they came to our property within 20 minutes to let us in. Another time I thought I might need them during an eviction process, it turns out we didn't but they made the trip to the property anyway. What I have since come to find out is a rare but great part Premier Locksmith is that they actually honor the price they quote over the phone. I came in to update my review and I'm shocked to see that there were two one star reviews given today. I have had nothing but positive experiences dealing with Elliott and his crew. The latest incident happened the day of the big storm. I went to put my key into my deadbolt and it wouldn't fit into the lock. I was not comfortable having my home exposed with a broken lock so I called Premier. They scheduled some time that same day to come by. Once they arrived they swapped out my locks in a flash as well as made additional keys for me. I'm very happy with Premier Locksmith. I lost my car keys and called AAA who uses another company who actually could not come out. Luckily it turns out, because the quote for the keying was about $100-150 higher. I mean, my car is barely worth that much. Premier is further out, but Elliott was having lunch in my neighborhood. I called Premier Locksmith because I wanted to change my locks to Medeco or Primus due to the popularity of bump keys. I made an appointment with Elliott to come to my house in San Mateo to replace my existing locks in the front and rear of the house. He was very prompt...my appointment was at 12:30PM and he was there precisely at 12:30PM and he had to drive all the way from SF. The quality of the work was top-notch and completed in a timely manner. He even reinforced the door jamb so that it can't be kicked in. In addition, he went the extra mile by replacing my shed locks and he also suggested that he can re-key it so that I can use one key for all three locks.
