Their window cleaning price are way higher than other providers in Carlsbad. Rick want to charge way more for little larger than normal windows. One of the best things I have ever done. I LOVE my retractable screens. Everything about Rick, his wife, and the process was great. They are pros and clearly know their stuff! Rick is a true perfectionist and his installation is beautiful. He has tweaked things over the years and so there are subtle and really, really smart things he does to make the screens function optimally. I didn't shop around, and honestly, I'm glad I didn't. I may have picked someone who was a little cheaper, or as much as Rick, but I probably wouldn't have gotten the Wizard Screens, and I certainly wouldn't have had them installed as professionally and as beautifully as Rick. I have 2 sets of screens that came with the house, and boy, they are archaic clunkers in comparison. I never realized. They are hard to slide, and you have to use 2 hands and pry the slider handles apart and close. The Wizard? They have a strong magnet. Requires just the slightest tug to open and close. And, as I said, with Rick's subtle tweaks, they are ergonomically perfect. Don't even bother shopping around. Be like me. Get the best from the best and enjoy the breeze! read more

I live near the beautiful Pacific Ocean in Carlsbad and wanted to be able to enjoy the year round weather by leaving my doors open, so I searched for a reputable screen door installer. I found Premier, read their reviews, and decided to give them a chance. I first met with Sheri who brought the store into my home. Sheri is very personable and very knowledgeable. She walked through my home and I showed her the (3) single doors and my (2) sets of double doors. Sheri gave me ample time to choose my colors and helped me match my custom wood grain French doors. She showed me samples and gave me a price which I felt was very affordable for such a quality product along with custom installation. I told Sheri I wanted to wait 4 weeks before the installation and we set a date. On that date Rick came over to do the measuring and the installation, all the same day. Rick is very personable, polite, and an exceptional craftsman. Each of my doors were of a different size and he custom made each one onsite. There was minimal cleanup needed, which Rick took care of; then he showed me the proper operation of each door and how to care for them. He is a superior professional. Upon leaving he suggested an additional retractable screen door opposite one which he installed; this would give me cross ventilation and cut down on my energy bill. An installation date was set. He called to confirm and came back at my convenience, very punctual. I will definitely recommend Premier Retractable Screens to everyone I know. Most recently he installed a custom new screen after a bedroom remodel working with our contractor to correctly have the screen installation. Requested a quote online, got a response from "Rick", who seemed a little irritated I was inquiring on a ball park figure for retractable screens on 4 sliding glass doors & 1 French door. He replied something like, "the bitterness of poor quality lasts longer than the sweetness of a low price". Premiere Retractable Screens installed my retractable screens in 2012 and did a great job. In 2016, they replaced two of the screens that were worn and did a great job again. In August 2019, we hired them to replace all 4 screens for a cost of around $660. These screens are well worth the price to us. However, on the last screen replacement, we found a problem the morning after the replacement and found our front door screen wouldn't retract without pushing it in it's carriage. We advised Rick of the problem and he came out a few days later and charged $125 for the follow up on a job he had just completed. He advised that the screen worked fine and he didn't need to do anything. We found out the next day that the screen wouldn't retract when it was cool in the morning but would work after it warmed up. We sent a photo of the screen stuck partially retracted in the morning and Rick texted that he would come back but didn't know when. He did come back a few days later...at around noon when we already told him the screen would work. I asked him about increasing the spring tension since it wasn't working when it was cool but he said that the problem was "weather related" and apparently, not his problem. I called another company, Screen Mobile and talked to Alex Verbrugghen about the problem. He suggested that he come out early in the morning since that was when we were having the problem (something Premiere Screens should have considered) He also said that with retraction problems, 90% of the time it was a track alignment problem rather than a spring tension problem. With that information, I pushed the lower track in a bit when the screen was stuck partially open, and it retracted immediately. I think Premiere Screens should have known that as well and should not have charged $125 for the return visit. They do good work but their after service customer support was really pretty poor. read more

I had a great experience with Rick I. He came by on a Monday/Tuesday to make a custom screen for my back sliding door which was 12 inches larger than your standard sliding doors. He was able to deliver in 3 days which was quicker than I expected. His craftsmanship was beyond reproach. The quality of the door seems apparent. This is the most unprofessional and racist contracting company my husband and I have ever experienced. First I called them on Wednesday and made an appointment for Friday at 12:30. The initial call, I informed her that my husband would be there for the measurements and to give the deposit. I also gave her my husband's name, cell number, and address. She then called back the next day saying she could not read her own hand writing (crazy) and asked if I can give her the information again. Today, the wife shows at 11:50am (not 12:30) and knocks on the door and did not announce herself. My husband asked repeatedly who was it and by the time he open the door, she was running away. My husband ask who she was and she walk away stating she only deals with one on one and where is your wife. What the hell is she talking about? What does it matter who it there to take the order and give them the payment. Do not do business with this company. They discriminate based on looks on who they want to do business with. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

I called Premiere Retractable Screens to receive a quote about either repairing or replacing a few Retractable screens. None of the other three companies I talked to offered to consider just repairing/maintaining ours. Rick actually called and talked to me for 20 minutes first educating me about my screens before I decided to pay for a site visit so he could hopefully fix some screens or let me know which ones need replacing. We have 4 screens in the property and Rick felt we could get more use out of them if we replaced a few parts and he did some maintenance. Given the high price companies are charging for these, he easily saved me about $1500-$2000. Rick is really looking out for your best interest and help you out, I can't recommend him enough. read more

We had Rick install two higher end retractable screens on our large, stacking style, slider doors. Our type of slider, which is becoming more common these days, makes for a hard install. First, he used very high quality components. Second, the workmanship was top notch. We're not talking about some guy with a truck and a screw gun. Rather, you have a skilled artisan who takes exceptional pride in doing a job right, to his exacting standards. That's more than a little rare these days. Our job had challenges, none of which were Rick's fault and it took a little extra time. He could've slapped it together, gotten paid and moved on. Instead, he stepped right up and before anyone could've even discover what many would not even notice, he said the install wasn't to his exacting standards and asked for a little more time to order more parts for this difficult, custom and complex installation. He came back with more material and completed the installation. Oh, and after all of that extra effort, and additional, costly material, he didn't want a penny above his original quoted price. I am a repeat customer! I found Premier at the San Diego Home and Garden Show in the spring of 2007 which is where I met Shari. She came to my home where she measured and we selected frame colors for both sets of French doors where I wanted retractable screens installed. A few weeks later they were installed and have been free of problems since. Premier also provided a hummingbird decal to put on my screens to help avoid a walk thru. My front entry door had brand 'X' retractable screen which was installed about 2001...it was rickety and needed replacing. I called Premier and was pleasantly surprised that Shari was there! She came out to measure and select color. A few weeks later the screens arrived and Rick installed them also providing the hummingbird decal. I am very happy with the service and the quality of the screens that I purchased from Premier. The screen frames and the mesh are durable and easy to clean. I will use Premier again and I encourage you to trust them as your source for retractable screens. read more
