Dr. Doneskey always had my best interest in mind when determining next steps and explained everything thoroughly so that I could decide what was best for me. The staff took care of me while in the office, treated me like family, and walked me through the administrative process with insurance. I will recommend this team to anyone looking for help with their sleep apnea diagnosis. I can't thank you enough and so grateful for your continued help! I'm finally dreamin' :)

She's the reason my experience is three stars, and not zero. The facility is very disappointing. I've done sleep studies where the bedroom is made to feel like a hotel room, comfortable, quiet and dark, facilitating the best sleep possible. This is not the atmosphere at all at Bel-Red. There were no sheets on the bed, for a start, just the mattress cover, pillow cases (thank goodness) and a thin blanket. I asked the tech about this and she gave me one sheet, which I used between myself and the blanket, but there was no sheet on the bed between my body and the mattress (disgusting to think how many other patients had slept there with no covering). The room was warm and there was no way to adjust the temperature without doing so for the whole suite. The room was too light, as the curtains did not shut out the street light from outside and there was a lot of equipment in the room that also shed light. The room was not soundproof, so I could hear the conversation of the other patient as well as every foot fall near my door. To call the tech, there was a button that emitted a loud phone call sound, which I could also hear from across the suite when the other patient called the tech. Also, the one shared bathroom in the suite was down the hall. In previous sleep studies I've done, I was given an en-suite with a private bathroom and shower. Taking a shower in the morning after my sleep study was not an option, so I went home to shower, with the adhesive on my skin and in my hair. Again, Galina made my experience the best it could have been. She was solicitous, brought me the one sheet and tried to help with the air flow using an air purifier. All in all, I was very disappointed with the facility and will not do another sleep study at Bel-Red.

I hadn't realized that my sleep apnea was hindering my body's ability to shed weight, but she helped me understand that sleep and weight issues go hand in hand. I don't think I would've made it without her support! She is extremely encouraging, understanding, non-judgmental and knowledgeable. When I reached my weight loss goal and no longer needed my CPAP, she was the FIRST to celebrate that incredible health milestone with me. You know it's the sign of a great doctor when they are excited to have helped you get to a point where you no longer need them. As the years passed, it gradually turned out that I needed a CPAP again. I had lost track of Dr. Broderick, but when I found out she'd opened her own practice, I was so delighted! I had not cared much for Sound Sleep Health so the opportunity to work with her directly was great! If you are fortunate enough to have been referred to her by one of her happy patients, or to have stumbled upon her some other way, be glad! You will experience a level of care you don't see very often anymore. She cares. She has integrity. She's an EXPERT at what she does. Prepare to feel better soon! I wish there were more doctors like her.

The front desk at the time was also very friendly. The problem is this: After the intake, I scheduled a follow up appointment for additional imaging, only because I was assured (by both the doctor and front desk!) that the office would check my insurance for imaging coverage and follow up with me directly. Instead, no one contacted me at all until I reached out myself days before my x-ray appointment, only to be told (for the first time) that I never qualified for coverage in the first place, and that I'd supposedly already been informed at my first visit. When I pointed out the mismatch between what I was told and what was now being claimed, the office dodged responsibility rather than acknowledge any communication failure. "Hey, so sorry no one reached out to you to follow up. We'll make an effort to fix that in the future." That's really all it would have taken. Instead they went with "We never said that, we already told you." Which is honestly just...why do that? So weird. Tldr: great doctor, but if you go here then get all your communications in writing because their admin WILL gaslight you if they make a mistake. Especially so if you have any doubts at all about how they deal with insurance.

I hate to leave negative reviews but here you go.

I OWE MY LIFE TO 3 PHYSICIANS, 1 OF WHOM IS DR. BANDLA…read more ************* This is not an average review, as I am not an average patient. Perhaps by sharing my story, such as it is, others will see the value in Sleep Care & Medicine so that they might seek help sooner --not later-- and perhaps place that care in the capable hands of Dr. Bandla. ************************* -A BIT OF BACKGROUND- I lost years of my life to "Sleep Apnea": due to the poor health it caused --unnecessarily so-- because I ignored my doctors' suggestions to see a "Sleep Specialist" for a "Sleep Study" (I heard these words within quotations VERY often, and maybe you have as well: from a concerned spouse, friend, or doctor?). When it was suggested to me, I not so much as 'decided' a Sleep Specialist wasn't a priority, but I let time pass without pursuing it: ie, I did not MAKE it a priority. But trust me, IT SHOULD BE. Because of that, let me tell you what my future became: my untreated & disordered sleep would be THE contributing factor to my deteriorating health for those two years. I've only now learned that those symptoms are scientifically documented consequences due to chronically poor sleep or chronic lack of it. BELOW: some of said symptoms: Severe fatigue & sleepiness, lassitude, swings between insomnia to severe over-sleeping; memory loss, thought disorganization, cognitive impairment incl. word-finding, forgetfulness; emotional dysregulation, impatience, depression w/suicidal ideation; heart palpitations, body temperature irregularity, weight gain & muscle loss; severe nerve pain, esp. the extremities; headaches, light sensitivity, hearing changes/loss + sensitivity. & more minor symptoms. Finally I'd had enough and lined up any specialist I could think of: (literally) Endocrinology, Hematology, Neurology, Neurovascular, Audiology + ENT, Pain MGMT, and even Gynocology! All were "fine" and said "see a SLEEP SPECIALIST & do a Sleep Study!!!". I finally got the hint and out of sheer luck, my doc was Dr. Bandla. *************** -THE DOCTOR- At my initial apt, Dr. Bandla asked a few questions to prompt me, then carefully listened to my confused babble about my symptoms, and somehow he understood, never getting frustrated nor short. Once he got the necessary information, he explained everything very carefully until I understood every detail: what my diagnosis likely is, why he believes that is, and then what the next steps will be from there. (And he was right about all his predictions, by the way). A Sleep Study was next, and he made sure every single detail was taken care of: for ex, he made sure a special Mouth-Breathing Sensor would be available for my study after I mentioned having chronic sinus issues. The help & time he spent with me is incredibly rare in today's medical system, and thanks to Swedish for accommodating that kind of care (too often time & money outweigh care. That was n not my experience here). **************************** -ABOVE & BEYOND- Any time I have called or emailed, Dr. Bandla would respond immediately, and he himself would respond personally most often (that is VERY rare these days). The most significant gesture was during my second Sleep Study where I would be "test-driving" a special C-PAP. That Friday night, as my tech helped me get situated, she explained how she'll call the doctor once I'm asleep. I asked what she meant and turns out, he was at home and was staying up late on his Friday night, waiting, just to hear how I was doing. I'm a well spoken person, but I struggle to adequately describe how touched I was from such a gesture. ********************* -CONCLUSION- I was eventually diagnosed and have been using the treatment machine, worn at night, for nearly a month. My body and my life is changing rapidly (It's the best diet & religion rolled into one: HEALED all while you sleep!). I have a rarer type of apnea called Central Sleep Apnea caused by my brain, not the throat like most folks. At night my brain stops telling my lungs to breathe, and my breathing literally stops, as if I've died. With treatment via the machine, my prognosis is very good. So, if you're in the Pacific Northwest, I highly recommend Swedish Sleep Medicine (Redmond or Seattle). There's a reason I drive 4hrs round-trip to be a Swedish patient, time and again. I am and always will be eternally grateful to Preetam Bandla and to his family for allowing us -his patients- to borrow him from you so that we may return to ours. -A.
