Recently, on a Sunday evening, after our daily walk, she complained of unbearable pain in her lower left back. We called the Moraga-Orinda paramedics and they showed up in 3 minutes! She was given pain killers and rushed to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, the closest location for us. At John Muir Emergency Department, she was attended to immediately. The physician, Dr. Kessler, after examining her, immediately opined that it looks like kidney stone! He ordered a CT Scan and a medium to large size kidney stone was confirmed. Dr. Kessler prescribed pain killer, necessary medication and admitted her since the pain was unbearable for her to handle at home. Krystal and Kamala was the first nurse-team we had. They were both excellent, caring and compassionately attended to my wife as often as needed even during the night. After seeing the excruciating pain, they arranged an urologist consulting and a decision was made to do a Ureteroscopy and blast the stone into small fragments/dust. Since this procedure was done only at the Concord location of John Muir, my wife was transported by an excellent ambulance team to Concord location. In Concord, she was given excellent care by RN Mary and RN Emmeline - they were really amazing! My wife needed help often, and the nurses never ever complained (even at night) and helped my wife with a cheerful smile every time! The next two days, she was given outstanding care by Dr. Khan and the nursing team of Sarah and Benjamin. Sarah is very knowledgeable, competent, very compassionate, cheerful and friendly. She followed the protocol strictly for every care-activity and her attention to detail was amazing. For example, she had to check my wife's blood glucose regularly. Every time, Sarah would poke the finger, remove the first drop of blood the comes out with a gauze (since the first drop was in contact with the needle), press the finger to get the next drop and use it to test blood glucose! And, Sarah was training a student nurse and she was painstakingly describing every step of every procedure in great detail to the student while taking excellent care of my wife. The urologist, Dr. Chang, was very friendly, and explained to wife the details of the procedure. His attention to detail was also amazing. Since the kidney stone was in the lest ureter, he used a marker on my wife left leg to highlight that it is the left ureter! The Nurse practitioner from his office, Vivian, scheduled the surgery and communicated with us daily. She showed real concern and empathy for my wife's ordeal. The procedure was successful and the excruciating pain stopped almost immediately afterwards. Dr. Chang had written a detailed description of every step of the procedure in my wife's My Chart - it was comforting to read the detailed report. She was discharged the next day. The care my wife received from the Doctors and Nurses at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek and Concord was consistently excellent - the quick/initial diagnosis at ER, confirmation through CT Scan, excellent execution of the procedure by the Urologist and the awesome care she received from the Nursing Team after the procedure - all outstanding! We have lived in Contra Costa County for over thirty years and have had treatments at John Muir Hospital a few times and we experienced excellence every time! We highly recommend John Muir Hospitals and their outstanding team of Physicians and Nurses.

The office didn't have a lot of availability but squeezed me in due to the severity of my injury. Dr. Chandler was wonderful. She was very patient and a good listener and explained my injury and treatment options - she was also familiar with my recent history/visits to urgent care. She had taken the time to look at my file first. I loved her. Plus, she was on-time for the appointment! The office was small and the waiting room was empty on a Friday afternoon. Much better than a room full of people waiting to be seen. I look forward to coming back. New patients are supposed to do a meet & greet before being seen for a medical condition by any doctor, so it was really nice that they let me set up my meet and greet for next week. They went out of their way to help - and she agreed it was the worst type of sprain - my foot will see a specialist next. Very happy with this office so far!

I Got screwed again. Big big surprise. Once again it was…read moretime for refills on my two blood pressure meds so I don't die. Not narcotics, not anything fun, not anything sellable on the street... just regular-ass blood pressure meds to keep my heart working. I called it in five days in advance of running out. 5 days. When calling it in I was given no push back or any notion that my meds would not be filled. Not a single hint. So after the five days when I'd run out of such meds I went to the pharmacy to pick up my refill. And turns out only one of the refills was sent. They had to give me loaner pills so I don't drop dead. What the hell is even going on with this office? Ever since they became Muir medical group I can't get my medicine refilled ever without some kind of giant hiccup! These aren't narcotics. These are blood pressure pills so I don't croak! This is so insane. The doctors here are very good. I love my doctor! But this office is so screwed up and unorganized, unethical, and doesn't care someone could just die without their meds.... I'm looking for a new dr now after several incidents regarding refilling my blood pressure meds. Enough is enough. Again these doctors rule! But the office has ruined their practice and made it completely terrible. I have family members that go here that have had the same bad experience with trying to get their meds. I have had multiple situations where I need blood pressure meds and they've been so nonchalant and just "they will get refilled when they get refilled" with zero worry about my physical safety. I'm done. Everyone in this office should be examined for termination. This place is a cesspool for garbage and unethical employees. Everything is about dollars and healthcare means nothing at all. If you work here You should all really reflect on the type of person you are and really analyze what you're okay with. Are you okay with a normal guy dying from cardiac arrest over a mistake you made involving med refills? You are all just cool with a dude dying of a heart attack. This office is the worst thing of the worst. I urge you not to go here. Again, the doctors here rule!!!! But the office is run by nimrods.

I had my surgery with Dr. Carrie McCloskey, a surgeon at Walnut Creek Kaiser Permanente, and I honestly couldn't have had a better experience. From the very beginning, she really listened to me. Every concern and request I had was taken seriously, which made me feel so comfortable and confident in my decision. Dr. McCloskey truly cares about her patients, and it shows in her work! My surgery turned out beautifully it was exactly what I hoped for. I'm so grateful for her skill, patience, and attention to detail. I would absolutely recommend Dr. McCloskey to anyone considering plastic surgery. She made the entire experience smooth, reassuring, and positive. I'm so thankful for having such a supportive surgeon like her. I highly recommend Dr. Carrie McCloskey for anyone looking into plastic surgery.

These appointments are already very far out pushed. So I find it very unfair that it was not even consulted with nobody just the ladies decision that I was not going to be seen I don't think it should be determined by somebody not being the doctor to determine whether I will be seen or not, and like my case, there could be a lot other more that are actually in a bigger emergency that I might be in and this type of service is unacceptable

I fully understand why healthcare executives get shot. With literally EVERY procedure, even on the same day, it's the same paperwork. Take a lesson from Kaiser on how to do paperwork that's good for more than one procedure (even though Kaiser can't do the actual healthcare part very well). What would be perfect is the administrative part like Kaiser with the healthcare part by John Muir. Also, I had surgery at John Muir Concord 5 months ago, and even though I'd already completed all of the forms online to get the paperwork done, I got harrassed 3 times the day before the surgery while I was at work: one phone call to ask if I followed the pre-op procedures who spoke to me like I was 5 years old (not all persons in ther 70s are senile!); one call to ask me yet again about other insurance money sources (dialing for dollars) and to remind me of my financial obligations on paperwork I'd already completed (so I then just paid it upfront to get them to leave me alone but frustratingly I was again asked about money the morning of the surgery AFTER I'd paid it); plus a separarte email about paperwork and $. For God's sake! I was already losing a lot of work time with the surgery itself and now I'm hassled while at work while trying to get things done before the surgery!
