This is the worst place for patients to wait before surgery. The doors are too noise. They absolutely do not care about the patients comforts. I cannot imagine The administrators of this place did not identify this Situation. They should hire some one to come and take care of this immediately. Surgery centers are a hard thing to judge. It's not like a restaurant. Unfortunately for me, between my several family members I have had the opportunity to go to Premier, Sequoia, Aspen, John Muir, Children Hospital and Iron Horse surgery centers. This one was by far the worst. I was there as my 17 year old was having a deviated septum repaired. Since he was a minor I was able to accompany him. I have no quarrels with his surgeon, just this surgery center. 1. Lack of privacy. Even with covid protocols in place, the waiting room is like grand central station. People spilling outside the rooms, wandering about the stairs. They are packing in the people and surgeries to meet overhead as cheaply as possible. Once back in the pre-op area the patients are separated by flimsy sheets and closed with large metal paper clips. I saw every indignity the elderly gentle man across from us was facing as they wouldn't close his curtains. 2. Lack of compassion. There may be nice people here. There were a few.But the front desk folks are not them. From the front desk an elderly gentleman was called to sign some paperwork that was missed when he checked in. He was in pain and in bad shape. It took an excruciatingly long time for him to reach the desk. Would it have killed them to bring the sheet to him? But once signed, he sloooowly walked back to his chair only to be called back again to sign something else. You could tell he was so embarrassed by his pain and slow walk. I am ashamed I didn't help him, but as these are medical documents I was sure couldn't have done anything. Again, front desk lady didn't cross the short waiting room to him but let him painfully walk. As he turned away and started back she had something else for him to sign. At this point he said "I'm leaving. You don't get my business". Good for him. Really. 3. Cost cutting: The point of this center is turnover. Get patients in and out as quickly as possible and then set up the next batch of patients for sugrery. As told to me by the post op nurse, my son was having a hard time waking up so they gave him fentanyl. (WHY??) He then had a reaction to that so they gave him demerol. He was allergic to it so they gave him several doses of Benedryl. By the time I got him two hours later he was completely zonked out. Awful My mother in law was here for an eye surgery and and is now specifically searching other centers (and other physicians) for her other eye to be worked on. It's a strange thing to vet one's surgeon on the surgery center they use, but from now on out I definitely will be asking any potential surgeons which center they use. This one is cheaper - but some things you just don't skimp on. read more

Can't say enough about the personnel at Premier. They were up beat and anxious to address every patients needs. Their humor was appropriate and useful in calming the patient. I want to especially acknowledge my anesthetist who was articulate in his explanations and very helpful and reassuring in the OR. Only wish I remembered his name. Only suggestion I have for improvement is to realize that the patient undoubtedly has had nothing to eat or drink for a long time and could use some nourishment in recovery. read more

I was to have cortisone shot in my hips. Counting, there were 8 people in the waiting room, 4 outside on folding chairs, and 3 in a small room waiting for the doctor with an iv in their arm. 15 people waiting??! The chairs where I waited felt like someone had owned them for 100 years. I waited 2 hours, and finally got up and left. Supposedly the doctor who was before my doctor was slow and held everything up. Why 1 hour before procedure for paper work? That is ridiculous. 15 minutes should be enough. I would not recommend this office to anyone. They are not organized if they have that many people waiting. read more

Nurses are great! When dealing with patients, they are there to get medical procedures' done. Why is the front desk people rude and unfriendly? This is a huge turn off!! I understand you are busy, but treat your patient's and people picking them up with respect and kindness!! That's what customer service is all about - STOP Gossiping too!! read more

It looks a bit run down but the staff are well trained and I had a good experience. It took two painful pokes to get my IV in, but we aren't machines and sometimes things aren't perfect. Dr. Shapiro, the anesthesiologist, is the zen master of sedation. He was so calm and soothing, I almost didn't need the Versed! It got super busy later, try to schedule early in the am. My feedback to staff is don't chew gum, it's not professional, and if you have long hair tie it back. I didn't appreciate getting whipped in the face with long blond hair, even though it was pretty and smelled nice. Also, introducing who you are and what you do is helpful, as I met at least 5 different people in 30 minutes; I still don't know why some of those people were involved in my care. read more

I am 74 years old and had been wearing glasses since I was 6 for severe astigmatism and myopia. This condition hampered me throughout my entire life, in sports activities and career choices. I just had cataract surgery on my second eye and the results, for me, were truly mind boggling. I had a long distance toric lens inserted in the right eye and a near vision toric lens inserted in the left eye. The day after the surgery after a post op exam, and without glasses, my vision was tested at 20/20. No trace of the old vision pattern. The day after that I threaded a needle in seconds (for the first time in over 20 year), was able to read the smallest print setting on my e-Reader and to see clearly with full peripheral vision at all distances. For this tremendous gift I want to sincerely thank Dr. Thomas J. McDonald (my "Wizard of Eyes"), his staff and the staff at the Diablo Valley Eye Center in Walnut creek and the Premier Surgery Center in Concord, the CCHP Health Plan and Medicare. I am a very lucky and appreciative man to have had these people, plans and places in my corner. read more

This is the worst "doctor's office" that I have ever been to! EVER!! We were told to come to the office an hour before the appointment to make sure that we filled out any paperwork and could be brought back to pre-op. We waited in the lobby, and waited, and waited. After being in the lobby for an hour and half I went to the front desk asking for some communication on what was the delay and when would we be seen. We were told 15 more minutes. After a total of 2 hours and 10 minutes we were finally brought back to pre-op. The lobby is freezing cold, and cold normally does not bother me. Oh, and I was chatting with my nurse sister-in-law via text in the lobby while waiting forever. There is no reason why they could not have made the two appointments that we have schedule here one appointment. Turns out that they make more money because they can double bill for the appointments. If you have a chance to go somewhere else, do so. What did I learn today? My time has no value according to this office. read more

I found every single employee of this facility to be kind, caring, nice and professional. I arrived at the appointed time of 7:30am and was promptly assisted by the front desk staff. After a short wait (less than 20 minutes) I was called into the surgery center. The pre-op nurse Kirby was very friendly and efficient and fitted me with an IV promptly. I was quickly whisked away to the operating room for the procedure. The OR staff, including the anesthesiologist and the operating Dr. (Dr. Fang) were highly professional and very efficient. The post op nurse, Liz, was so sweet and kind and the picture of professionalism. Overall, I could not have asked for a better experience. read more

Upon walking into the center, I noticed wall to wall of people waiting patiently. I didn't know, if they were family members waiting or patients. I was greeted by the receptionist with nothing but good customer service and that process went flawless. She asked me to have a seat and the nurse will be contacting me soon to take me right in. Well, I only waited for about 20min. and my name was called. The nurse was very pleasant and accommodating. That process went off without a hitch. She informed me that the doctor would be right in. I had a routine colonoscopy performed here. Not anyone's favorite procedure but it had to be done. Dr Jenny Jew was excellent and the staff treated me with care. I have nothing but gratitude and appreciation for the nurses working here. I am hypersensitive when it comes to pain, needles, medical machines etc.. Every single staff member that helped me throughout my stay was patient with me, understanding of my pain, and willing to help. From check-in to check-out, I felt nurtured and cared for. Dr. Degnan is by far the most professional, kind, caring, attentive doctor, and all the nurses that work there with him are the same. The only con I can say is that there is only ONE toilet for the entire waiting area....keep in mind some patients are prepping for colonoscopy! My wife was asked by her Dr. To arrive earlier so an IV could be administered. She is a very hard stick when it comes to IV's. She called Premere to set up a time to come in earlier and was told they need to talk to the Dr. As needless to say, they have told my wife to come in only 15 mins early. We get here and they hand her paperwork that takes her longer to fill out and now we don't have extra time to possibly get her IV in her. The front counter staff don't seem to care about the patients at all, only here are your forms, fill them out and have a seat. The last time she was here for the same procedure, she ended up doing it without an IV AND it hurt like shit. I had a simple RFA on 4/8/16, and after reading some of the reviews on here, I figured I would set the record straight. We will begin with waiting room, cleanliness, staff, and overall experience. Waiting room- I would only give the waiting room 2 stars. This is because on a Friday morning, it was packed in there. It is pretty outdated, only leftover magazines laying around. It would've been nice to maybe have a tv on, or something rather just loud music from other people. Cleanliness- a lot of these reviews say they're dirty, but I found none of this to be true. The waiting area was clean as it could be. The pre-op was clean, no leftover blood, and I felt the surgical room was sterile enough to perform basic outpatient procedures. Staff- this is their saving grace. The nurses I had were amazingly nice. Lots of reviews about nasty comments, but I had zero issues with the staff here. The lady in the front was working hard, and had to deal with uncomfortable patients. Fasting sucks, but they're not the enemy here people. I would like to personally thank all the staff there. Overall- I would say for an outpatient surgical center, there's not much to complain about. Yes it's a long wait, you have to show up a hour early to your procedure. Yes it's uncomfortable and can be annoying when doctors run late. But I feel better, and the trip was worth the wait. read more

Sadly, I have had several epidurals and many of them have been done at Premier Surgery Center. The facility is, as you would expect, exceptionally clean and orderly. Instead of waiting in a bed, they have huge reclining chairs, they bring warm blankets, and I go right to sleep. In the morning, there is just one nurse who starts the IV. She is so good, I don't even feel the needle. I think the facility is wonderful and the staff and nurses are just great. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone needing a medical procedure. They are horrible here, from front desk to medical staff. The receptionists at the front desk aren't nice and aren't helpful. If you ask them anything, they get a huge attitude. My mom does not want to be resuscitated, so we asked more about their policy to resuscitate since they said they will resuscitate regardless of if people have a DNR/advanced directive. We were met with a nasty look and awful attitude. They just took my mom back for her surgery without me. And when I initially tried to go with her, they asked if I was translating for her. And I was like NO, her first language is ENGLISH. She just spoke to you in English and it is noted on her form that her primary language is English. I am angry I couldn't go back because I've gone back at every other surgical center for family and client surgeries. But, I am livid at the way that we have been treated while here. It's their standard of care because they have been gruff and rude to every person that has walked in here. read more

Was not comfortable with today experience due to sanity concerns. Every time in the past a procedure was done at a surgi center, they make you strip down, gown-up, and take every precaution to make sure the environment is clean and sanity. This place felt like a McDonald's drive through. Come in, fill out paperwork, get taken to the back. No change of clothes, in fact they told me to just put the gown over my street clothes. THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE ME TAKE OFF MY STREET SNEAKERS (yuck, who knows what's on the bottom of those germ-wise) . In fact, I had to ask the nurse to clean up the blood drops on the floor by the recliner chair they had me sitting at in the pre-op area. That's just gross. Expected to have IV line with drip started before going into OP room. Expected to have oxygen at nose during procedure...ya know, in case something bad happens and they have to do emergency things. NOPE. Just a shunt and minor anesthesia while they wiped down my back. I was face down so couldn't see much. I was in/out in 1/2 an hour. Since then have talked to my doctors elsewhere and they couldn't believe the sanitation and control risks. Suggest an inspector do a review of this places policies and make sure no one accidently picks up a new problem by going into the operating room in street clothes and their sneakers like they do here. Won't ever set foot there again by choice. read more

Being a person that usually freaks out about hospitals and surgery I was pretty freaked out going in. The waiting room was super full of people, and I had to wait for over an hour for my appointment. Those were the only cons that I noticed. The staff was super friendly, which totally helped calm my nerves. They are all pretty young, but knew what they were doing. Getting the IV in was no problem, they made sure that I had a extra wrist band for an allergy. Also the anesthesiologist listened to all my concerns. Having them explain everything that was going on really helped to make the experience unalarming and smooth. It was over quickly. In recovery I got crackers and water or juice. I do have to say that the girl who did my IV was not wearing gloves, which might be going against some health rules. But if I had to do it again I would return to Premier. read more

I had nasal surgery on 4/22/15, I was visibly uncomfortable with having surgery. The staff was very calming and very gentle with me. After I woke up from anesthesia, I had a massive migraine going. The nurse (I was too out of it to remember her name) was so in touch with my needs. After uping the pain meds in my IV a few times and she saw I still looked uncomfortable. I told her I had a migraine. She says "lets get you dressed so we can get you home and eat a little something so you can take your pain meds". She was very sweet, comforting, and gentle. It made me feel better to have someone looking out for me. The young man who wheeled me to the car was also very sweet and compassionate to my not feeling at all well. It not just words or actions, it was body language they they put out in a calming compassionate way. read more

This is a great place to get your outpatient treatments. I went in for an epidural for sciatica. Yes, you are on an efficient assembly line, which gets you in and out quickly and saves money, but the care is compassionate. Every member of the team takes the time to ensure you're comfortable and understand the procedure. Dr. Grant spent time alleviating my fears of having a needle in my spine, and before I knew it, my procedure was over. You get home quickly, feel fine and feel cared for. Don't spend time in a hospital if you don't need to. This is so much better. read more

Well, I've been here a couple times, and my experiences have been great. I was here as a driver to pick people up and take them home after a surgery. Everyone that works here is really friendly, pleasant and helpful. I'd like to give a shout out of appreciation for the gals at the front desk, when I was looking at a beautiful photograph in the lobby, one of them gave me the heads up as to watch when people come through the doors, thanks!!! This was perhaps my fifth or sixth time at Premier a Surgery Center. Each time I have received excellent care from the moment I walked in until I was wheeled downstairs to my car. Yes, it sometimes is crowded, yes it is chilly and yes it seems a bit outdated- but I was there for a vacation. Each staff member I have ever come in contact with with has bee pleasant professional kind and efficient. Unfortunately my experience yesterday was less than what I expected. Initially, the waiting room was set up to allow for social distancing and everyone entering was submitted to a temperature check. I was asked to arrive at 10:30 for a procedure at 11:30. I waited 30 minutes in reception before being called back by a nurse, wheeled through a corridor filled with a cacophony of loud talking, rushed medical personnel (it immediately felt like the emergency room in a large public hospital on a Saturday night). It was so loud I could not hear the nurse asking me a plethora of questions as she negotiated tight corners to rush me to a draped waiting area. A different nurse arrived asked me to disrobe etc, and yet a different nurse came in to start an IV - who was gentle and professional. Quickly, another nurse arrives to wheel me into surgery. Upon arriving into the surgery suite, there were several individuals in the room who did not greet me. My doctor, a technician and anesthesiologist all preoccupied with their backs turned glued to computer screens. I had to ask who they were, including my doctor. I had several questions for the anesthesiologist, and asked that he stand beside the bed so I could see his face. While trying to ask questions of the Doctor, the nurse admonished me for moving my arm while she attempted to plug me in to various devices. She was rude and in my estimation, unprofessional. After a 30 minute procedure, I was quickly awaken, told to dress and was unceremoniously wheeled to garage where my husband was waiting. I would not recommend this facility. It is clear the staff is over worked and or only concerned with getting the patient in and out quickly. I consider myself lucky I had no adverse affects from their lack of service. Side note, nurse was suppose to give me a glucose test prior to the surgery - yeah that didn't happen. My doctor and the facility director will be receiving a long detailed letter from me shortly. Can't say much, you know? "You're going to feel drowsy..." "Welcome back!" I have no idea what happened in between other than the fact that I can see the results. I was pretty doped up after and don't recall much about the trip to the car. I'm told I was pretty funny, cracking jokes whenever I was "conscious". So I guess they do have a sense of humor there. :) I do recall the time before the surgery pretty well though. Everybody was pleasant, the place was clean, everything was on time, they knew who I was when I got there, all that. This was my one and only surgery, so I can't give 5 stars right out the door, but a pleasant experience all around. read more

Never get a procedure done late Friday afternoon unless maybe you're at a hospital. All the nurses and staff wanna get the hell out of Dodge by 5 pm. I got a call about 3 hours prior to my colonoscopy screening from one of the nurses at premiere Surgery Center. He asked me if I could move up my time for the procedure. I had to ask my drivers since they won't let you drive to or from the screening since you have anesthesia. My friend who is going to pick me up for the procedure I couldn't let him know until I got an approx time from the center when my procedure will be done. The nurse on the phone told me don't worry if your friend can pick you up until 6:30 p.m. there be somebody around to wait. Soon as I got to the prep area at the center one of the Rollie pollie nurses with the spray on tan came out and told me that nobody will be there after 5:30 and that your friend needs to pick you up by then. I did call my friend and he agreed to pick up by 5.. Let me tell you the screening of my colonoscopy went fine. When I was in recovery around 440 she asked me to call my friend again. He was on his way but stuck in traffic. She told me that the nurse should have never said that they would wait around til 6:30. I told her that it wasn't my problem. All she cares about is wanting to get out of there by 5. I end up telling her that I just been through a long drawn out 48-hour process and had unpleasant procedure done I'm still coming out of my anesthesia and I didn't appreciate her being so rude.. Then she flat out said my friend wouldn't show up until 630. My friend call me a minute later and he was downstairs to pick me up at 530 pm. Very negative experience the nurse didn't smile once and she was so rude and inconsiderate. She really stress me out! They are supposed to be caregivers and she was nothing but a b****......That's the truth! read more

This place is a like a cattle yard. When you go in for a procedure, you are placed in a chair in a room with many other patients, divided only by a curtain. There is no privacy, no beds to relax, and no gowns. For an epidural, it was "pull your pants down". They also bill the insurance for an astronomical amount of money supposedly because they have to write off a certain amount. We experienced an overdose of anesthesia, even after requesting only a local, and of course, were billed for over $9100 for something we didn't want. In addition, even though very sick and barely conscious, they released the patient, who was very sick for several days from the anesthesia. If your physician uses this facility, run. This is not a professional care center. We gave them three occasions to improve, but it was worse each time. Incredibly disappointed. The only saving grace is that the staff are friendly. read more
