Better than I expected. The seating area is very nice and spacious. Service was polite and friendly. Do yourself a favor and get the mango lassi! They use fresh mango and it taste like it. The sweet lassi is also good if you don't like mango. If that's too heavy for you, get the milk tea, they use real tea leaves. These drinks will help you later when you start eating spicy . The Ilish fish is great. It doesn't have any fishy smell or taste. I haven't found this fish anywhere else. The meat is soft and the dish is savory. You have to be careful to avoid or remove the small bones by hand. Snacks include chicken roll, chicken samosa, and beef patty. The chicken roll is mild in spice. I like the spice levels of the samosa and beef patty, it's flavorful without being too hot. Goat rezala curry is soft in texture, with some spicy green chiles and thick curry. After you eat the meat, the curry is very good with naan. Chicken Tikka is mildly spicy and creamy. Great for rice or naan. Shrimp Dopiaza Curry is spicy and flavorful. It has green chiles and other spices. The shrimps are big and they absorb the flavor of the curry which I really like. The shrimp is also cooked perfectly. It is not overcooked like other places. It is still soft and juicy inside. I give them extra credit for that.

Terrible, expensive food. Not sure how they have been surviving with all the other bengali stores nearby ..

I'm from Silicon Valley and we're swimming in Indian restaurants from every region. We initially came in for a quick bite before dinner plans in the area. I got a chicken lollipop and samosa and was surprised by how much flavor it had. My expectations were low since they said they didn't have any chutney to come with the samosa and offered ketchup instead. However it definitely didn't need it and had so much flavor and moisture on its own. As we were munching on our two small items, we were consumed by the smell of the other dishes they had. We left to dinner at the other restaurant and were completely stuffed, but I HAD to swing back to this restaurant to get some of their curries togo. I got one of the fish curries which had some pickled vegetables and one of the goat curries. I've never had this much depth in a fish or goat curry before and it beat out any I've had before. I was literally sucking as much of the gravy as I could from the bones when I got back because I knew I wouldn't be able to have this level of depth and flavor in a curry when I get back to California. The service was so friendly. They were smiling and chatting with us while we ordered and were attentive in the beginning even though we got two small items for like 5 bucks. I'm definitely making my way back to Astoria to have this again.

The ambiance is largely due to daughter Nure whose incredible passion and enthusiasm throughout the night in describing Bengali culture, history and food was incredible! Mom and daughter combine to create an unforgettable dining experience that for me is unmatched and never to be forgotten. They are such gracious hosts and make everyone feel like family. As delicious as the food is, be prepared to take a lot home. You enter Korai Kitchen hungry, curious and with great anticipation. You leave full, satisfied and part of the family! Sorry for the lack of pics. I just went in as soon as the dishes started arriving, eager to savor the meal rather than to record it. My advice: Just go! Its a culinary adventure!

(Note - Despite being listed in the delivery apps as "Authentic Curry & Tandoori Place," there was a 2nd sign over the front also calling it Dhaka Karachi Curry & Kabab, which may be confusing.) Immediately across from Kalustyan's, the world-class gourmet food store in "Curry Hill" I was shopping in, decided to check it out. Glad I did! It's better to ask the people behind the counter to let you know those items they have ready - what appeared to be one to two options of different animal protein entrees or some vegetarian options. Interested in the lamb option, (the only lamb that time,) they couldn't describe how it was prepared, but that being said it was flavorful and delicious! You have the options of a full (my choice) or half portion, with rice or naan with your entree. A small salad and dal came with my meal. My large naan was memorably fantastic, hot and totally fresh, absolutely perfect to accompany the meal! There's seating and water at the table. Everyone, staff and customers, were extremely friendly - me, the only one speaking in English. Would recommend trying out Authentic Curry and Tandoori Place. Don't expect fancy, but you'll get a reasonably priced, solid meal. I'm certain to return myself.
