As someone who may be a bit overbearing about the care of her dogs, it was a relief to find Preppy Pet daycare and boarding. I have two medium sized dogs and one is a crazy 1 year old lab. My primary concern when I board my dogs is that they are not in a cage for the entire day and get plenty of playtime with other dogs in a large area. Preppy Pet ensures that your dog is supervised and gets as much playtime and exercise as they need. They have a good sized outdoor play area as well as a large indoor play area for inclement weather. The staff is very friendly, listens to your concerns about your pet, and cares about the well-being of the dogs that are in their care. The prices are exremely fair and will not make you go broke if you need to board your dog over a weekend. I feel great in knowing that I never have to go anywhere else for a kennel. The staff make me confident that my dogs are in good hands when I cannot be with them. I highly recommend this kennel and daycare! read more

I moved my dog from here immediately when he was attacked by another dog and nobody contacted us to let us know. They had the groomer shave half his leg and clean it up, as if she was a veterinarian. They made the decision for me that my dog was fine and that he could wait until pick-up time to address the wound. I completely understand that these situations happen but the way the situation was handled was baffling to me. My dog was brought straight from daycare to our local veterinarians office and treated with antibiotics as a precaution. A year later it's absolutely heartbreaking to hear that a dog was attacked and died in their care, but to be honest I am not surprised. Very glad I didn't sit around and wait for this to happen to my beloved pup. It seems as though it may be time to reevaluate the attendance levels that are deemed appropriate for the size of the facility. Maybe Preppy Pet will start to value safety of the animals in its care, over money. read more

I have just picked up my dog and two cats from Preppy Pet for their second vacation there. I am thrilled to have found a kennel in the area that takes good care of both my overly energetic herding dog and my cats. The accommodations are great and clean. The staff are interested in animals and understand their quirks. The pricing is decent and fair. This time at drop-off, my dog remembered the place even after many months and ran from the car to the building pulling me behind her. She can be difficult with people she doesn't know, but she responded immediately to the staff and didn't give them any trouble. They didn't react negatively to her barking or skittishness. When she comes home, she is tired and happy. She doesn't seem relieved, like she has after other boarding arrangements. I think she really enjoys playing with other dogs. My cats are also content. This time, they didn't even act mad at me for leaving them. They settled back in at home with no change in their routines. Having worked at kennels long ago, I know this is a sign of well cared for cats. I will definitely return to Preppy Pet when I next need to board my animals because I don't have to worry about them at all while they are there. read more

This place is fantastic! All your food needs for your best friend, they even have trial sizes for you to try. Their boarding and daycare is fantastic. My boy Dallas is really shy, but they took their time and he loves going there. Dallas gives them 5 woofs So do I! Toys Yes! Food Yes! Grooming Yes! Treats Oh yes! Absolutely love this place. For years I thought it was just a daycare and boarding but then I learned that it had a store as well. Super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff who love animals. Good selection of dog food (my dogs adore the Earthborn Holistic Large Breed) including some raw options, treats (try the Beams!) and toys/accessories. My only gripe is not a huge selection for cats but given the size of the storefront it's to be expected. After shopping here and switching to a better quality dog food we were able to get our Rottweiler down to a healthy weight after many months of banging our head while feeding big box store foods (even so called "good" ones). we've taken our overly energetic labrador to two other day camps in the past. one in CT, and one in Worcester when we first moved from CT. With this day camp, however, he comes home SIGNIFICANTLY more tired, and extremely less smelly. I don't know what this camp is doing differently than the other two, but I love it! Pretty Pet is amazing. Even after I moved quite further away , I will only bring my dog for boarding here. Each time I have picked my dog up after a stay, he does not look stressed like he has when I have left him at other kennels. He seems to be given the care he needs specific to him. He is a special dog that needs a lot of one on one attention and they always say how much they loved having him when he was there. I love this place Diane and Chuck are super friendly and they treat my pups like there own. My dogs and I have four of them go to dogie day everyday and they look forward to going everyday. Before I would take them to dogie daycare and Siku would not want to go in and Nanuk would try to runaway. But Preppy Pets they love! In the mornings the sit at the door and wait to be leashed up to go and when we get to Preppy pets they almost knock the door down to get in. I would not take my dogs any where else. If I go out of town Preppy Pets is the only place I will board them. I like the fact that they can play all while being boarded. If you are a dog owner and you need a place to board your dog or have dogie playtime Preppy Pets is the place to go. I never worry about my little monsters while they are at Preppy Pets. read more

After doing some research on Preppy Pet and reading some of the reviews on here and other sites, I decided to entrust my dog to Preppy Pet while my family and I went on vacation for a week. All I can say is, that will never happen again. After leaving my healthy dog at Preppy Pet I was encouraged to call and check in on him while we were away. Every time I called, I was told everything was fine, "he's doing great", "what a great dog", "he gets along so well with all the other dogs", etc. I had no reason to believe there was anything wrong with my dog. When I picked my dog up at Preppy Pet all I could do was cry. I was shocked to see the condition my dog was in after only 1 week there. My dog had lost about 10 pounds...he only weighs 35. I could see every bulging bone in his body. It was trully disturbung. He had a rash around his nose that was so red it looked like it would bleed any minute. He couldn't stop scratching, had no energy, and looked completely horrible. My dog slept for the next 3 days. He had severe diarrhea and would not eat. I spent hundreds of dollars over the next few weeks at the vets trying to figure out what was wrong. Thankfully, my dog is getting back to normal now. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It looks cleaner than most kennels but looks can be deceiving. I will never ever leave my dog with these people again and if you love your dog, you won't either. read more

Simply the best place for doggy day care and boarding. We will not go anywhere else. They are compassionate caring people who make the animals priority #1. My dog loves going on "vacation" here and every once and a while we will treat him to a day with his friends using the day care. He gets so excited when we pull into he parking lot. I also love the fact that they take pictures all the time and post them to the website so you can see your pet while your are on away. I would give them ten stars if I could. read more

Preppy Pet has such a huge selection of dog foods and treats. Lots of natural and organic doggy food and snacks - kitties too! Seemed like a very clean facility, if I lived closer maybe my dogs would hit up the daycare. The lady who rang me out was very nice. I love Preppy Pet! I have to laugh because another person game Preppy 1 star and complained about Alicia and Diane. It was pretty funny... This person also gave a 1 star to where I get my hair done. Seems pretty angry. Lol As far as Preppy: the staff is so professional. Diane is a no-nonsense business owner who loves animals beyond belief. She is awesome to deal. And Alicia? She's been grooming my dogs for years and I wouldn't have anyone else touch them. My only complaint is that because she's so good, she is SO busy and sometimes it's hard to get in with her. I have 2 Rat Terriers that are 13 & 15 and had never been boarder before. First Preppy Pets ensures that ALL dogs are up to date with shots, kennel cough vaccine and it's refreshing that the dogs are all healthy. Gretta our female dog cannot go into a cage she completely freaks out. The open area and play area is exactly what dogs need! I brought the dogs beds and food and they were good to go. They even had their nails clipped! I highly recommend this local business and appreciate it when a business is concerned and wants to know anything that I might need or my dogs might need. read more

I was having work done at the house so we decided to bring our two yorkies there for daycare while the construction was going on. I was pretty impressed with the staff and it seemed like a good place, but the thing that bother me was when we brought our puppies they had coats on because they are so small and it was winter. I would have thought that someone there would take the coats off of them during the day but nope, they let the dogs say in their harnesses and coats the whole time they were there. I asked why and the girl said "They looked comfortable" Helloo-do you want to stay in your coat all day? I think if you have a big dog with no restrictions, its a great place to bring them but for the little pups, I don't think the thought process is there. They try and that is all that I ask. read more

I chose Preppy Pet because I heard great reviews from friends that had brought their dogs there. I booked my puppy there for a long weekend, and then was informed that they give you one free day stay your first time there! They also offer add on services such as grooming, baths, and nail trims. My dog seemed to love both of his experiences, and was exhausted for days after returning from the weekend. I'll definitely be bringing him back for my next vacation! read more

When it comes to doing business there's nothing truer to me than personal recommendation. This place is a gem. You walk in & both you & your pet are greeted warmly. Reception is quick & efficient. Looks can be deceiving but this place also passes the sniff test - clean indeed. Dogs & owners in passing seem happy & satisfied. My dog came home pooped! I could tell he was worn out & there was fun to be had. You can peek in on your pet during their stay by remote viewing - just the knowledge that you can feels reassuring. He came home smelling good, nails clipped. The prices are very reasonable & upfront. Someone before me expressed expecting to pay more, I did as well. I look forward to another trip there with my precious fur baby. It feels good knowing I have a place to take him where I can rest assured he'll be well cared for. read more

My dog LOVES his visits to Preppy Pets for doggy daycare. He plays with dogs with similiar personnalities and is exhausted when I pick him up. He is not placed in a crate during the day, but allowed to frolic with friends and staff, lay on the couch or pads, and play with toys. I am so happy with how friendly the staff is and how much they truly love each dog and give them all the attention that they need. read more

I boarded my 4-yr old cat for 4 days here while my husband and I took a ski trip up to NH. I had taken a tour of the facilities before making a reservation, and there is a special separate cat area where they keep the cats in cages and let them out individually daily to wander their allocated room. My cat was the only one there during her stay, and I called midweek just to check on her and they assured me she was eating and doing just fine. I didn't have any problems with the place and the price was decent. There wasn't anything I can really rave about, but overall it was adequate. I'm not sure I would board my cat there again, though. read more
