Shortly thereafter the person (an X) who bought that for me, refuted the charge with their credit card company resulting in no payment to Gripstone. I was never alerted of this of this until 3 weeks ago when I attempted to purchase my own new membership. I was told I had to reimburse Gripstone for the year old failed payment by someone else before I could get a new one. I agreed to pay for both the old payment and my new one being advised I could negotiate a refund and so I assumed a reasonable settlement would result. Boy was I wrong. Gripstone was unwilling to reimburse me for the year old payment I never incurred. I have a disgust for this business and its management. They're short sighted approach and self interest has cost them years of patronage by me, likely thousands of dollars, and all so they could recoup $240. Had they chosen to reimburse me for charges I never originally incurred they would receive my future business for years to come, but now I I will never set foot in there again and warn others.

I'd much rather climb here than have to drive an extra 40 minutes to BP. But if cleanliness is a sign of neglect and it's neglected, then one wonders what else is being put off. I did notice however the bathrooms were clean, the floor under the Auto-Belays was nice and vacuumed. They were multiple chalk eaters around the gym doing work. Perhaps things are headed in the right direction and the challenge of having an establishment where chalk is constantly in use is a tough one. They have bouldering and lots of different walls from basic to extremely advanced climbing, they also have tight rope and a weight rack set. Pictures don't show how large the space is, I was impressed. If I was going to get into climbing regularly, I would come to this gym!

If the employee doesn't actually want to do their job and teach people how to properly wear the harness (the basics) then he shouldn't be employed by this company because his negligence is going to lead to a major accident.

There are tons of great hikes in this National Forest Service operated recreational area plus a…read morepretty small lake for fishing and a campground. We hiked a loop trail of the Willow trail (#347), the Mint Wash trail (#345) and 351, parking at the Wekuvde picnic area. On a Monday in September we only saw three other people on the trail until we came to Granite Basin Lake where there was one large group and a couple small groups picnicking. The Willow trail is beautiful, traversing gentle up and down areas of pine woodlands with 180 degree views west, north and east and has partial shade. The post monsoon wildflowers were in full bloom. The route back along Mint Wash was also lovely with 5 or 6 creek crossings, boulders, flowers and Granite Mountain views. The is a $5 parking fee for day use, or it is free with an America the Beautiful National Park pass.

Found Beta Bouldering Gym on yelp and gave it a try. Good variety of difficulties. Pink tape being the easiest, white, yellow, green, etc. Might have been the altitude but I struggled with V2-3 climbing which is usually very doable for me. Alas I never managed to send a green tape climb. I got close on a few routes but never managed to top out. I liked the variety of holds and surfaces slab, under hang cave and everything in between. Price was reasonable, $20 tax included for a day pass. I'll try it again the next time I am in flagstaff.
