Nice small location in downtown modesto. Coffee was great and cool spot to chill in the morning.

If this is the best coffee in Modesto, I feel really bad for you. Yelped a good coffee place (because Starbucks is basically sugar water) and this place is supposed to be comparable to Philz. NO, IT CERTAINLY IS NOT. I told the Barista I wanted something full bodied, strong, and rich. What I got was watered down, thin, and tasted like hotel lobby coffee at best. Cashier / Barista was "too cool" and acted aloof and uninterested in my business. Should have just gone to Starbucks. read more

Top notch coffee for coffee enthusiasts. The best coffee shop you will find in Modesto! The vanilla latte is my go to. Simple and delicious. The shop has a wonderful Seattle vibe, however, the set up inside makes it very crowded and doesn't allow for a lot of seating. I'm so grateful for the existence of this coffee shop because as far as I have researched, there is nothing comparable nearby. The baristas are friendly & they make superb, delicious espresso drinks. Nothing grinds my gears more than receiving my latte & not being able to drink it immediately as it's scorchingly hot... or sometimes getting unwanted things sprinkled on top. The music they play is very good, but not overly loud. There's secluded upstairs seating with a power strip & the little futon/couch is a quirky touch. You have to walk through the "kitchen" area to get to the bathroom - not a huge deal - I can see that forcing them to keep things clean & tidy. read more

This is such a great spot!!!!! I was passing through with my dog Finn on a road trip and we decided to stop here to stretch our legs. The iced chai I had was delicious - not too sweet with a little spicy kick. And the people working as well as those coming in for drinks were all so friendly! They kindly brought a bowl of water out for Finn. Wish I lived closer so this could be my neighborhood spot. read more

So my buddies had been ranting and raving about the French press here so I decided I had to check it out. Well when I got there, there was none! The only newspaper they had was the Modesto View. I thumbed through that and found not a single word of French. There wasn't even an article about France or a French author. Even the artist of the month was some crazy British photographer. Boy was I mad. But then I had the best cup of coffee in my life. So I guess it was pretty good. read more

I have been here several times, have tried the contractor, their creme brûlée and their reg cup of joe. But I gave them one star today because I walked there on my 10 min break to order something new, I tried their espresso as he was pouring my drink he poured it in their house glass, I made it clear I was on my break and was not going to have time to drink it there and asked to pour it in a Demi cup which he refused, so he took my $3.25 an didn't bother to ask if I wanted something else, I had to run back to work with no coffee! Really disappointed by their customer service and will not be going there again! Just horrible and made me feel humiliated! read more

We had a mocha and cappuccino. Their drink sizes are small for the price. Was decent.

note: this place used to be called serrano social club. but never fear, the baristas are the same (or mostly same) crew and they still serve exceptional beans from verve, intelligentsia, four barrel, etc. the clubhouse mocha is the BEST mocha i've ever had in my life. period. i have to occassionally come to modesto for work and found this wonderful gem last year. at first, i thought, "maybe my expectations of modesto are so low that any decent coffee shop would've blown me away." but i'm glad to say, after repeated visits, that wasn't the case here. the clubhouse mocha is made with cold-brewed coffee beans and has a smoothness that is unrivaled and unequaled anywhere. ever since my first visit, i always make a point of coming back and getting their mocha. i've had the mocha (both hot and iced) on 8 different occassions now and i can say it is not a fluke - this is seriously the BEST mocha i've ever had in my entire life anywhere. anywhere! i can't stress that enough since i live in the bay area, travel to portland and la, frequent an inordinate amount of cafes with hipster d-bags, and clearly am a bit of a snob about the whole coffee thing. on one visit, last month, i got a mocha (hot) first thing in the morning at 8 a.m. when i rolled into town (after driving from the bay area). after my meeting, i stopped by serrano social club and got an iced mocha for the road. yes, the mocha was so dang good i had to get another one not 3 hours after the first! read more

This place is deserving of no less than five stars. Their coffee is so good and the service is excellent. Its in the middle of the city and yet has the quaint coffee shop vibe once inside. Prices are reasonable as well. There are also some good restaurants within walking distance. read more

The teas here are so good! They always taste fresh, and refreshing I'm the mornings! I always grab an Ishtar Good Bar to-go when I come in (It's a super nutritious bar, a must-have!) and the service is always nice. read more

This isn't just a coffee shop it's the place where so many go to awaken their spirit before the work day begins . While it seems well knit everyone is welcoming and everyone is welcome. It's like walking into cheers . The coffee is fresh and delicious . It's an art form . That being said go and allow a few extra minutes for perfection in a cup and friendly faces. Also, the pastries are so delicious and all are locally made and many are vegan. So tasty. All that being said if you want a formula go to Starbucks . If you want creativity, quality and art go to preservation. There's no drive thru window go and allow a few extra minutes for great coffee and a great place to come alive in before you tackle a work day. read more

The coffee is yummy and the location is gretat. You can get coffee and sit out side and be in that down town atmosphere. I would come back!

Best coffee in town...period. There is no better coffee house in the Central Valley. These guys know their stuff and the coffee is fantastic. I've been to Stumptown in Portland, Cartel in Scottsdale, Vivace and Bedlam in Seattle and Federation in London. Preservation stands right with them in every way. read more

If you want a slow pretentious coffee place go here. While the flavor is good (nothing to write home about though), they go way to far out of the way to make the coffee so much more fancy than it ought to be. read more

Very good. Very fast service. Friendly. I love coffee and have been a barista for 5-6 years and they're doing it right. I don't really like chocolate all too much but I read reviews and got the clubhouse mocha and was not disappointed at all. I will most definitely be returning here to try out the rest of what they've got. I hate Starbucks' mocha, and this has changed my mind. I generally just drink espresso over ice. read more

Super cute, hipster cafe with a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly people running the place. I ordered a mocha-coffee type of drink, which was okay--not amazing but not bad either. If I'm in the Modesto area again, I'll probably stop by again for a drink and to visit the awesome bead shop next door. read more

Coffee, tea, and some baked goods. The coffee is the best in Modesto. You have to go to the Bay Area to get anything nearly as good. My girlfriend is a major tea drinker and she loves the tea selection. They have espresso drinks, hot and cold brewed coffee. It's so good. No blenders for the people who think that coffee comes with whipped cream. read more

My favorite coffeehouse in Modesto. The coffee is great, and the people are very friendly. I'm normally a latte drinker, but I'm happy to mix it up with the Contractor or another house special. This place is great!! The only reason why I wouldn't recommend this place is because you will have a hard time drinking coffee almost anywhere else. I have friends and relatives from out of town that crave this place and drive to downtown for a cup of coffee. I would given them 4 stars but since they stay open later now a 5 star review is deserved. read more

I have decided to come back. They really have some of the best coffee and tea beverages and are very convenient to the downtown area.

I've never stayed to drink my coffee. I'm an in and out, to go customer. The baristas are friendly and the coffee is delicious. My only two requirements fulfilled. Bam, 5 stars. read more
