My husband lost our only car key at work :/ we called the dealer and would have had to pay 360 for a key and have our car towed there just to get a new key... I lost my car keys. Couldn't drive the car. It's my 3rd car so I waited a couple of weeks for keys to show up but no show. Found the spare key but didn't work. Opened the key and re-seated the battery. Now the light on the key works. I was able to reprogram the remote to open the doors by myself but it didn't start the engine. Apparently, it needs the transponder reprogrammed. I read online where the dealer can create a new key from the VIN number. I went to the Honda dealership and they wanted me to tow the car there to create a new key. They saw that I was not going to do that so they referred me to their locksmith. Left a message with their locksmith but decided to look around for another locksmith. Call Prestige since they had excellent reviews. Shy answered the phone and verified over the phone that my key needed security programming. Shy's partner showed up in 20 minutes and took less than 10 minutes to reprogram the keys. Can't find my key freaking out thought to myself they have to turn up. but guess what after miles of walking streets and trying everyone from calling grocery stores to the city of san diego and waste management. i started looking for the closest dealer to get keys made for my ford ranger. well i guess ford can't do anything with a truck that is 12 years old and if i wanted them to try i would have to pay and have it towed to the nearest dealer they said try a locksmith. so i googled locksmiths and called a few some told me that price varied due to my key was chipped ranging from 200 just to check it out and then the price and labor and would have to make an appointment. well saw prestige and let me tell you i will only call him if i need a lock smith. he gave me a flat rate and was way cheaper than anywhere else plus came to my house and i only had my card he takes card and being military he waved the credit card fee. and he fixed my ignition and gave me great pointers so i will never lose my keys again and he was like i hope i never have to see you again. this guy is great to strike up conversation very friendly and a very likable person with a good heart will recommend him to any one very great service. read more

Shy was quick to respond to our inquiries, worked with our crazy schedule, gave us a much better price than the dealer for the same job and to top it off he came our location making it so we didn't have to work the transportation details out logistically. I have already recommend him to an auto shop I do business with. He was the only locksmiths I found that could cut our transponder keys and at the same time reprogram the vehicle security unit on spot saving us a much dreaded trip to the dealer. I've been having problems with my Dodge Caliber key; at my dealer's suggestion I ordered a new key that needed to be cut and programmed. After checking Yelp I settled on Prestige and was in the process of connecting with Shy, the owner, by email to get a quote. It just so happened he showed up at PAWS San Diego, where I volunteer - must have been fate! So glad I had the new key with me, he cut it and programmed it right then and there. Here's the kicker - I didn't have the cash or my checkbook with me. He said he would email me his billing address, and walked away without a dime from me! He was funny, friendly, accepted my big hug as a down payment, and was on his way. It only cost me 40 bucks, way less than I thought it would be. Shy also gave me a few pointers on the key issue, like what to look for if it happens again, and wrote the "secret codes" on a card for me (if it has to be reprogrammed) so I don't pay some who knows who for work I don't need!
