So I did a little searching online and found out that replacing a Prius key fob is expensive as hell! And it involves a locksmith who can cut the key and program the remote control to work with my specific vehicle. So I submitted a request on Yelp and got responses from several locksmiths including Continental locks. The price they quoted was about the lowest I received, around $200. And the locksmith was available to come out the same day so I went ahead and took a chance. Very glad I did! He worked very carefully for about 45 minutes or so and got a brand new key fob and spare door key cut that work perfectly in my vehicle. No more worrying about losing the original key fob! Highly recommend Continental locks and the locksmith was friendly and personable and responsive to text messages.

They came and the project was difficult as my walls have no crawl space and they are plaster/lathe so they had to cut the walls. They cleaned up my HDMI/Ethernet wiring without me asking by running them through walls instead of the cord cover I was using. They had extra HDMI cable as mine was too short. After they finished they asked for less than 50 percent of what I expected the project to cost. I would recommend for any installation and just wished I contacted them sooner.

When the need arises to call a locksmith, it's typically not the best of circumstances and for the most part, there's usually a great tale of how keys were lost or why said lock is no longer accessible. Be it hastily shutting a door which locks behind you, losing keys out of one's pocket while at the beach, or maybe, as in my case, a miraculous leap from one's clumsy hand into the swirling riptide of the toilet. After attempting some badass ninja move to snatch them up before they were carried into the abyss, the only thing I caught was a wet hand and a slap to my ego. To make matters worse....they weren't personal keys to my ride or my house, they were the office keys to the business mailbox. Great. So, not only do I have to take the walk of shame from the bathroom back to the office, I then have to walk into my boss's office to tell them that the keys are now swimming with the fishes. Good Times. I was told to hop on Yelp to find a locksmith to come save the day, which was exciting in a way, as I've never actually been ON Yelp before. I started out with a basic search and called a few of them to try to find not only the best price, but also to attempt to weed out the flakes (unfortunately, every type of business has them). I made contact with Avishay "Shy" of Prestige Locksmith and immediately, I felt like I was in good hands. He has a sincere, kind and helpful air about him on the phone and when he said he could arrive 'on scene' in about 30 minutes, I was pretty stoked. He arrived at our location and after taking one look at the lock, indicated that it was one of the hardest types of locks to get open (without a key, obviously) and that it would take much more than he originally anticipated/quoted (total removal/replacement of the lock, versus simply re-keying). I couldn't make the call right on the spot without conferring with my boss, so he assured me he would not charge for coming out as he felt bad that he wasn't going to be able to do it as easily as he had thought. He gave me guidance on what type of lock we had, so even if I ended up calling someone else, I'd know what to tell them. Why would I call anyone else?? His honesty and character is impeccable. Long story short, we did some coordinating with our postman to leave the box open (for easier access to the lock, and a savings of about $250) and arranged to have Shy come back out for the lock removal and final repair. He arrived earlier than expected, already had the lock off and was on his way to get some parts in less than 20 minutes. SO PLEASED!! Shy is an incredibly congenial, dedicated, professional. He knows his business well and is completely up front about any and all costs that may be incurred. He doesn't try to "upsell" anything, and gave us a couple different options for the replacement lock that were reasonable, efficient and AFFORDABLE. Throughout the entire exchange, he never stopped smiling, which helps lighten the mood, especially when his being there is essentially proof that you screwed up LOL Shy fixed us up...PERFECTLY. He's AMAZING. I would recommend Prestige Locksmith and "Shy" to ANYONE who needs help in their darkest, keyless hour. Incredible. Many MANY thanks!!! A++++++ In San Diego! read more

I'm literally in tears right now because prestige care about their customers and is a business with so much respect and courtesy they are on time . he is the best locksmith there is in San Diego there was nobody that knew anything about my Saab my type of car or knew what a fob was he was able to replace my fob not only for way less than a dealership would have charged you but he knew what he was doing and he made my day I will never forget this day shy because not only is my car everything to me right now but without my car I just started a new job I needed my car and I didn't have enough either for an apartment or for my car to get fixed he was able to replace my fob . I lost all keys to my 2005 BMW and the local BMW couldn't make me a key. They wanted to rekey the entire car for about $1600. I searched the net for a locksmith that worked on BMW's but only Prestige Locksmith of San Diego confidently claimed to be able to make me an OEM BMW key. Shy (the locksmith) came to my place and took care of it for an awesome price, an while at that, he also not only fixed but also rekeyed my condo's main entrance doorknob. Friendly, professional service for a reasonable price. UPDATE**** So, I called Prestige Locksmith and he made me a spare key for my car. As expected, he arrived on time, finished the work and hooked me up with other lock and key needs I had around the house. Shy was amazing. I was in town for my daughters soccer game and accidentally locked my keys in the trunk of my BMW. It was a Sunday morning and I was loading up to drive back to Arizona. I called half a dozen Locksmiths in the area, none of which could access the trunk of a BMW due to the security system. Shy answered his phone and was out to help me right after finishing the job he was already on. He was lifesaver. He was able to make a key for me and I was on the road home within 15 minutes of when he showed up. He was very upfront and honest about all costs and the different options available. Locked the keys in the car with it running (Stupid Beetle, doors auto lock every time they are shut) Called 3 locksmiths, Prestige was the only one to make the trip to our home a priority since the car was running. They kept us updated about every 10 minutes to let us know they were still on the way and where they were at. Shi arrived quicker than expected. He was able to open the door in less than 5 minutes. Great service and very efficient. Shy, the locksmith that came over was very nice and worked very fast. He was in and out of there within 30 minutes, considering he had to re-key 3 locks, make duplicate keys, program an alarm and make a new key with a chip. When I called him in the morning, he was over at my house within an hour. He was very pleasant and respectful. He even gave us a discount and suggested to buy the 15 for 30 coupon through Yelp. My boyfriend called me distraught a few months ago stating that on his job he lost his car key and we didn't have a spare. Great service! Showed up on time, and did an excellent job installing a new lock. I called about 5 or 6 other locksmiths in the area who either put me on hold for the longest time and a live person never picked up my call, or put me through their corporate headquarters, wanted to overcharge me or could not do the job the same day. After a month, I finally gave up on looking for my motorcycle (2011 Kawasaki Ninja) key. I searched online for a locksmith in the area and after a couple of phone calls and estimates, Prestige Locksmith was the cheapest and promised to be at my doorstep in less than 30 minutes after I made my one and only call. Very few mobile services are 24 hour, so it didn't occur to me to call a locksmith until I was in the shower, and I had that aha moment. I dressed and looked up a 24hr locksmith. By the time my hair was dry, the van pulled into the driveway. He quickly assessed the situation and set to work to fix my flub-up.
