I needed to change locks on my rental property and spent more than one hour reading Yelp reviews and contacting companies. I called Shy from Prestige first and really liked him but wanted to make sure I was getting the best deal with the best quality work and called other companies. Not one other person I spoke with had Shy's personality or listening skills. After speaking with the other company representatives I called Shy back and not only did he remember our call he was agreeable to meeting me the next day at 8:00 a.m. Shy arrived early, was fast, efficient and professional and when he saw my garage door was not working properly, he promptly called another contractor, spoke with him and scheduled an appointment for the garage door installer to come to my home withn two hours for a quote. We approved the quote and the problems with the garage door are resolved. Shy's recommendation was excellent and in one day we resolved two issues and are very happy! This afternoon I broke the key of my Kryptonite disc brake lock for my motorcycle, and a piece of the key was stuck in the lock. Not only that, my bike was in the parking lot of my cable company because I was returning a modem, and I knew I couldn't leave it there overnight. I was bummed out. I called a couple of locksmiths, but one wouldn't come out to the Mira Mesa area, and the other locksmith wouldn't work on Kryptonite locks. :( Then I called Prestige and talked to the locksmith named Shy and he was totally friendly and gave me a fair estimate. When he got there, I saw he really knew what he was doing. His van had all sorts of tools and it was clean. He went to work right away and what I thought would take hours, took him only 18 minutes. It was ridiculous awesome. And, with all the cutting and chiseling done on the lock, which was on my front tire, there was not one scratch on my bike or disc brake. The man took a lot of care not to scratch up my nice bike (Yamaha YZF R6S). And then, on top of the awesome job, he cut me a free key for the ignition and wrote down the code for how the key was cut and put it on a card so I'd have it. Then he also gave me a useful fridge magnet w/ his info on it. It was genuine great customer service you don't see very often. I was totally ready for the day to be a loss but it turned out to be a good afternoon. :) That's what happens when people are exceedingly great at their jobs. Shy picked me up to take me and a fresh battery to the dealership while they kept my car. Getting there we learned that they'd towed it off after losing contact with me over 5 months. Shy drove me to the tow yard, and waited while I talked to the place. They charged me $996, but towed the car to my house on time at 4pm (later that day). My moms keys get locked in her trunk in her '05 Mercedes E320. To make matters worse, it's 8pm and she's stuck in a Popeyes chicken parking lot. I call about 5-6 different locksmiths, all of which are saying its IMPOSSIBLE to break into newer model Mercedes'. Have to admit that after reading all the reviews about Prestige Lock and Sly the owner, I was still skeptical. I mean I have never read so many positive reviews. But this guy is the real deal. Showed up for our 4 PM appointment on time, rekeyed the 5 locks in the house, and even went out of his way to buy me the Baldwin keys that I wanted. The whole job was done in less than 30 minutes. Price was $135. He even told me that my Baldwin lock might soon have a problem but that Baldwin has a lifetime warranty and showed me how to take the lock out and go to San Diego Hardware to get it fixed for free. I lost my Lexus key fob on a ride at the OC Fair!! :( I didn't even know they had locksmiths that had key fobs. It wasn't until after I got my car towed from Orange County to San Diego did I see there was such a God! Because I parked with turned wheels, the tow truck had a hard time get it on the flatbed and he left me practically in the middle of my street. I contacted Shy after reading ALL the positive reviews. I was not disappointed. After finding a set of keys to my house laying on a table outside of my security gate, that someone placed there during the middle of the night...I was freaked out. I couldn't remove the one-way screw on the security lock and Shy got that taken care in a flash. The security deadbolt I purchased was for a thicker door. I called this business after reading the many positive reviews. The latch on an outside door was sticking. The technician took it apart, tried to fit a new latch and knob assembly, but it didn't fit. He told me my door was too old (house is 34 years old) and I'd probably need a new door. The latch assembly was removed, so the only way the door is operable now is with a deadbolt. He said he would look for a new latch assembly. I called two days later and was told the part had to ordered online and it would take two weeks. I found it hard to believe that a latch to fit this door didn't exist in the city of San Diego. So I asked for a refund of the $95 charge because my door was left worse than before, and I wanted to call a different locksmith. I spoke very calmly. The owner not only refused, he went ballistic and ranted at me on the phone. That's not the way to settle a dispute or to treat a customer. read more

I am SO happy I found this locksmith! Shy came to my house on a Sunday morning to help me with my car after not being able to turn my key in the ignition. He was at my house in about 20-30 minutes - fast! He replaced the ignition and the key turned but the engine wouldn't start. Because he's a locksmith, I assumed his job was over and I would have to search on my own what the next step would be to get my car running. But he kept working on it! He worked on it for several hours, trouble shooting anything he could think of and keeping me in the loop the entire time! After exhausting all possibilities and avenues, and doing some research specifically on my vehicle, he suggested it was an electrical issue behind the ignition. He apologized that he couldn't get it up and running for me but that he was very interested in what the problem was and he would love for me to call back and let him know. He even gave me some advice for the next step: that if it was what he thought it was, to expect to pay no more than a certain price for parts and labor and if it was over that, to buy the part on-line for cheaper instead! I would have never thought of that so I appreciated his thoroughness!! He even commented that he didn't want me to write a yelp review until the whole thing was resolved! Shy gave me the confidence I needed when talking to the auto mechanic to give as detailed an explanation of what all was working and what wasn't in my vehicle.
