We broke the locking mechanism on the doorknob on our french doors. I called Prestige Locksmith and left a message. It was a rough day for me as my ignition on my 02 Honda Accord was not turning as it should, more like a hit or a miss. I purchased a replacement fob off of amazon that apparently was for my make, model, and year. Asked them to program and perform key cutting. Showed up the following day as scheduled and on time. Shy was friendly and I enjoyed chatting with him. He discovered the fob I bought was incompatible despite being advertised otherwise. He had fob chips that corresponded to mine and used some of his parts instead at no additional cost. I work in a museum in Balboa Park. Last Friday night at closing time, one of our locks simply broke and we could not secure the museum. I called Prestige and they had someone over in about an hour. The whole process was very easy. I scheduled an appointment via yelp after a quick response to some of the questions I had about getting 3 of my door locks replaced. They arrived at my scheduled appointment time and were finished changing my three locks in less than an hour. I ordered a Smart Key fob online for my 2015 Hyundai Elantra, saving about $100.00 off the dealer price. I was due for an oil change and figured I'd have them program the fob and make the emergency door key. Unfortunately they said the couldn't help me because they could not verify that it was an OEM Product, even though it came in Hyundai packaging. They said they couldn't be responsible for anything that went wrong with the car. They then quoted me a price of $375.00 for a new fob and for programming. OUCH! I had already paid $125.00 for the fob I purchased online. So I called these guys after reading some of their Yelp reviews. I told them about my situation and they said they could absolutely help me out. They quoted me a price of $150.00 to program the fob and make the new key. Little back story before we called this locksmith: My husband's car wouldn't start at all . Something was wrong with the ignition. The key just wouldn't turn. So my husband quickly googled a locksmith and called the first locksmith that popped up , which wasn't this one. They quoted us $110 and that they will be at our place in a 30 min. First off I haven't written a review in over 5 years because I'm lazy and everyone thinks they're a damn comedian on this which is so annoying. So with that being said I HAD to hook up my man Shy with a review almost a year in the making... So I locked myself out of the house on a random weeknight, like a Tuesday or Thursday, last December '13. Did a Yelp search and Prestige was at the top. Actually I think I called a different co. first but got an outrageous quote and I don't think they were going to come for quite a while. Called Shy and immediately you could tell he was a good dude. He got my info and quoted me $85 and was here in 15 mins. Pleasant and professional as can be he got me in my house in 10 mins. In addition he made me two extra keys at no charge and also changed my locks so that they were both in the same direction, if that makes sense. It was something I took for granted but when he saw it, it bugged him and so he offered to fix it and he was so fast! He even went on to school me on how the beach environment (I live in OB) affects our locks because of the saltwater and all. I then brought up my truck door as I was having problems turning the key in the door lock. He made me a duplicate truck key, again at no charge, saying maybe my old key was worn out. That didn't work so he offered to fix it on the spot for $95. Unfortunately at the time I couldn't afford both the house and truck fix so took a zillion of his cards (and magnets!) and promised to call him soon about my truck. BTW he took off $10 for the house, how awesome! Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I FINALLY got around to hitting up Shy about my truck (life really got in the way) and could you believe it he totally remembered me, my truck and what color it was! We made an appt for the following Sunday which unfortunately I had to cancel due to a family emergency. He was very cool about it and hoped everything was okay, I mean how sweet is he?? The next couple weeks we were playing text tag as our schedules couldn't match up but we were finally able to connect for today at 12pm. He texted that he was running late as he was 30-40 mins away and he's such a great guy I was like no prob, will see you when you get here. He came looking a bit tired but still that same sweet smile on his face and his cute as a button young son in the front seat. So he worked on my truck all the while chatting with his son and seriously 15-20 mins later he was done. He even took care of the replacement I had bought to replace the cracked handle at no charge. He gave me the same quote from last Dec $95 and he's probably THE nicest person I've ever had do something for me that I gave him $120 and thanked him profusely. He's so awesome and humble he wasn't expecting the tip but damnit he deserved it! Seriously, such a good guy and good work ethic you should just purposely lock yourself out to experience some of the best customer service you'll ever receive. The best service I have EVER had! The owner/locksmith, Shy, is amazing! His prices are more than fair, he gives you the price upfront (none of that "it can cost between $100 to $300" business), he gives you any possible information he can in case of future mishaps, and he has amazing customer service all in all. Super nice and happy, builds great rapport with his clients. Here was my situation, in the event that you are actually interested. My keyless remote for my truck broke, and unfortunately, my key did not disarm the alarm. I had purchased a new remote off a website online, but i needed the original remote to program the new one. I decided to call around to a couple different mobile locksmiths to get estimates for a new keyless remote. The first two gave me a range of prices from between $120-$240, they weren't really willing to work with me in terms of price, considering the fact that I had already a keyless remote. I called Shy, from Prestige, and he gave me a flat rate for 1 or 2 keyless remotes. No haggling needed. Totally fair price, which happened to be cheaper then both the competitors. When he came he taught me how to disarm the alarm, in the event something like this happens again, he also taught me how to program the the remote. He was so nice and considerate. I can't say enough about avashay. My key broke and I had no spare key. The AAA locksmith could not help me and the key code he had was not the right one for my car. I went to the dealership and same story. I thought I would have to buy a new ignition and change my door locks. Then my brother recommended Shy and it was by far the best recommendation ever!! The tl;dr version. Be careful with these guys and how they comunicate. They say they are going to try something to see if it works and then before you know it they double your cost. Had I known that the price was going to double, I would have told the tech to leave the lock as is and charge me the $65 and then proceed to fix it myself. There was miscommunication in price and what "fixing" a lock actually meant. I was going back and forth with Shy about the cost to fix our deadbolt/door lock, and he said it was a $45 service fee and then $20 to look at the lock. So, we set a time for a tech to come out at 1030 the next day. The morning came around and the tech called me to reschedule until later in the evening, which wasn't ideal but we said we could make it work. The tech came out and was nice. They spent 20 min or so trouble shooting and finally pulled the lock off and said "that's the issue", and pointed to a crack in part of the lock. Then he said in order to fix it he would have to replace that part and it would cost a couple hundred dollars. He then stopped and said he may be able to remove this piece and see if it works. I said ummm ok. He removed it in a matter of seconds, damaging the inside of the lock even further, so if I wanted to replace the part myself, I wasn't going to be able to. The lock seemed to work but the safety feature it originally came with was disabled because of the piece he moved. The tech then proceeded to tell me it was going to cost $120, I asked "why so much, Shy told me it was going to be $65?" and then we called Shy and Shy said because he "fixed" the lock, that it was more expensive. I voiced my concern around it taking the tech 5 seconds to remove the broken piece and put it back together. Shy then told the tech to only charge me $100 and called the tech on his own phone and told him to take a picture of the lock. read more

Words cannot express how thankful I am to have found an Honest and Reliable locksmith to help me out on my crisis!! Shy came to my rescue and picked me up at a bank in Hillcrest and brought me to North Park to get my car that was sitting in the side of a street unlocked from NYE. I lost my purse on NYE in the back of a LYFT cab and with the purse and my licenses, bank cards, etc was my house key and my very expensive Lexus Is250 smart key remote fob.
