My daughter was a patient here for several years. I will preface this review by saying my daughter…read moregot along well with each of the dentists she saw over the years and they seemed to have good rapport with her. I have no doubt that the cleanings she received were good. Hence, 3 stars instead of 1. I held off on writing this review, but my daughter has seen multiple dentists now and I feel it might help other patients. We had a billing error after our first visit as they'd submitted the wrong code to our insurance and then tried billing us directly over and over for a cleaning, which was covered by our insurance. I wasted hours of my time on the phone with both Riccobene and our insurance. I even had a 3-way call with our insurance company and Riccobene to get it settled. I'd been told the issue had been fixed, but I kept receiving bills in the mail. It was extremely frustrating, but it was a mistake- which happens sometimes- so we stayed with the office. I started getting rubbed the wrong way by Riccobene during 2020 with the up-charge for PPE during the pandemic, which by comparison to other dentists, was well in excess of what other offices in the area were charging (as discovered in a discussion on NextDoor). It was annoying, but maybe just a sign of the times, and that wasn't enough to deter me from the office even after the billing error, so we stayed a few more years. Perhaps this started to generally sway my perception of the office as a money-grab, though. It was at my daughter's final visit that I really started to question the practice. After my daughter had been seen, I was told that she had some cavities. As a late teen, she'd never had a single cavity before, but I didn't necessarily doubt the possibility of a cavity or two. We would have been paying out of pocket for the fillings, which according to their invoice, would have been just shy of $700 (all out of pocket expense since it was not covered by our insurance). They were fully aware of this because they stated that our insurance wouldn't be covering it and the expense would be out of pocket. It was when we checked out after the appointment that things started feeling off and I got an uneasy feeling. It felt a whole lot like we just walked into a used car sales lot with an aggressive sales team that was really pushing us to schedule the fillings immediately. It gave me such a bad feeling that I decided to hold off on scheduling the fillings. Instead, I went with my gut and I got a second opinion at a different dental office. My daughter has been seen at two different dentist offices since then and she's been seen every 6 months. One visit was the same week we'd been seen at Riccobene. I've never heard of cavities magically disappearing, especially within a few days, but according to the other offices, she did not have any cavities then and she still does not have any cavities. I left the office after that last visit with Riccobene feeling like they were aggressively trying to charge us out of pocket to fill cavities that perhaps didn't even exist. After being seen elsewhere, I feel it more strongly about it. I'm very glad I didn't schedule the fillings on the spot or pay the ~$700 out of pocket while being pressured to do so. Perhaps it was an accidental misdiagnosis (per cavity), but if you're paying out of pocket and things don't feel right, I'd suggest asking for solid proof of the issues or getting a second opinion elsewhere before moving forward. I'm glad I did.

The only response from the office manager was that they "dropped the ball" and that filing a claim with the insurance company is a courtesy.

If you need simple, cookie cutter dentistry, this may work for you. However, if you want a Dental…read moreClinic where you can actually discuss your dental health with the dentist, this may not be the place for you. I had been a patient for 7 years. This place used to be more patient focused, but after recent interactions, I made the decision to "fire" Stanley Dentistry and find a dentist with less arrogance and a bit smaller ego, and a stable office environment. I'll explain.. I had a recent need for pretty extenisive work. I asked the Stanleys for help. In this process, the staff scheduled me for various "consults" and cleanings. Several of these were botched in terms of getting the reason for the visit correct. On one occasion, I was booked to see Dr Bobbie, but when I got there, it seemed like a total suprise to the staff, including Dr Bobbie who showed up in street clothes, peeked in my mouth and told me I had to come back for consultation. This after 3 or 4 previous visits, several imaging events etc. This visit was a total waste of time and I was sent home after essentially nothing was done, except I had to agree to pay $2500 for Dr Bobbie to develop a plan to correct my bite. I relectantly agreed because it seemed like a lot just to put a plan together. The plan came in. We went over it together, it was extremely expesive. ($50K). I dont have dental insurance, so I needed to figure out how I could make this happen. In the process, I had the opportunity to seek consultation from 3 other dental practices, including maxilliofacial, orthodontic specialists and implant specialists, jaw surgeons...... there was not a shortage of qualified doctors. I got some quotes. Less than half of the previous. However, ALL OF THEM told me that the "plan" from Dr Bobbie would be detrimental to my long term health, and one told me that "Anyone who will fix this with just implants, extractions and crowns is just taking your money, its not ethical, not good medicine, not in your best interest" Soooooo.... I decided to seek more info from the jaw surgeon I had at UNC, as well as circle back to Stanley Dentistry to discuss this infromation and inquire about what they would be doing differently than the other Doctors might have perceived. BUT, at Stanley Dentistry, you're not allowed to question the Stanleys gigantic but apparently very fragile EGO. This is nothing but extreme arrogance and greed. They dont know their own boundaries and capabilities, because their ego and arrogance gets in the way of them practicing ethical quality medicine. I was told that I would have to pay an additional $188 consulting fee to talk to the almighty Dr about the $50K plan... ....THAT I ALREADY PAID $2400 FOR!!!!!! This all begs the question,.......... Why would a DDS practice in Cary NC be very eager to do this $50K plan, when 3 other dental clinics wouldnt do it for way less, because it wasnt an ethical plan? It seems to me that there might be some financial strife here in this practice. I think as a paitient over the past 2 years or so Ive seen this office environment get more and more toxic, hygenists and office staff turnover, the commandeering dictator like managment style driving them away and creating a level of fear and lack of confidence in the remaining staff. I was treated with disrespect, told falsehoods, charged excessively...... I AND YOU deserve better. Patients deserve to be treated better. Many many dentists can do crowns, extractions, implants etc.... Not all provide PATIENT CARE..... not all care for the person, beyond the wallet. Stanley Dentistry had become a toxic factory dentistry shoving patients thru without any care for their true health. The Stanleys are out for their own good only. Pathetic. The hygenists are generally good, so if all you need is an expensive cleaning, give them a call. Dont say I didnt warn you though.

So first visit Ashley was awesome with my periodontal cleaning ( I get those 4x per year) She was gentle, knowledgeable, kind, professional and efficient! I met my dentist, Matt and asked about a couple crowns. He assured he could do it and today he did, with the assistance of Mia! I believe it was the smoothest crown work I've ever had. I never even felt a needle go in for the numbing. I had a particularly difficult kind of old crown to take off but he was completely confident and I felt very comfortable the whole time. Ashley, Mia, and Matt were very attentive to my neck problems and made sure I was comfortable through both those procedures. The facility itself is just gorgeous. There is a grand of coffee in the lobby. Plus water. Lobby comfy, roomy, and well furnished. Receptionists, check out staff, everyone professional and kind. I am thrilled to have found my dental care providers! Parking is at a premium, but a few more yards to walk is not a big deal!

Consequently, I was forced to cancel the appointment. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Having it caused me anxiety and pain. I felt self conscious and it would ache and force me to only chew on only one side of my jaw. I am getting married in March and I dreamed about feeling confident in my smile for our wedding day. So I finally started looking into getting it replaced. I wanted to have it done, but was very anxious about the experience secondary to my generalized anxiety about going to any dentist. My first attempt was in March (2019) with a different dentist and it went TERRIBLY. Luckily, I managed to escape with my smile untouched, but I was certain that I was doomed and I would never feel good about my teeth. I also felt even more anxious about it, and questioned if I could try again. Luckily, I stumbled upon Dr. Kofford and decided to give it one more try. Throughout the entire experience his humor and kind spirit gave me comfort and confidence in him. By the time the surgery date came around I found that I was not the least bit anxious, but actually felt excited about the transition. I knew that I would feel emotional about finally being free of my tooth, but there were no words for how I felt. I cant stop looking at my smile, which is something I have never experienced. I feel like the person I see in the mirror is finally representative of who I am. I cannot thank Dr. Kofford and his staff enough. Some of my deepest stains did not come out and they did not have answers for why they could not get them out "in my opinion". They were all ready to do extra fillers above my eye teeth to augment where the stains were. This would be at my cost, and would make the stains, invisible to the naked eye. #4 when I went to check out, I find out there is no coordination of benefits, which was never mentioned at any point when I spoke to the office manager or staff person during the initial interview. So now I'm going to have to file the extra paperwork myself. Not cool! #5 The straw that broke the camels back is several weeks later, when I receive the bill from the insurance company stating that this dentist office is out of network for my insurance company, which I specifically asked them to check and was told they "accepted my insurance". Now I don't know what that means to them, but to me, it means that they are in network for my insurance company. Surprise, they aren't! I owe almost $350. Again, not cool!
