Had an excellent time at the farms today feeding the goats, cows, longhorns and sheep. $4 for a bucket of food. Bathrooms were an 8/10 considering it's a farm store with animals right outside. Clean and well lit. The bathroom was big and had lots of room (in case there ended up being a line.) They had at least 3 stalls in the ladies room. TP and soap were fully stocked; which is necessary after feeding farm animals. Just wish the TP roll was on the actual hanger roll instead of sitting on top of the TP hanger. I bet you could use the bathroom if you weren't a paying customer because there's so much more to do here than just purchase feed or goods. Honestly a great place to hang out on a Sunday. I was surprised when I arrived and went in that the staff were not wearing masks. This place is a good drive away from the city and a different county so maybe it's not as enforced. We went on a Thursday. Admission was $10 and that included a small pumpkin, hay ride, hay maze and a small cup of of feed for the goats and cows. We were there after lunch and it was not crowded at all so I was able to let my toddler run free. There is a bbq restaurant inside the store that sells a few sandwiches and sides. Sandwiches are $9 and sides are $2. Drinks were around $2 as well. The sandwich was good but not worth $9. read more

Great feed/farm store that includes a great selection of gifts, high-end shoes, purses, jewelry and table ware. Whoever does the buying for the gift side of the store has done an amazing job. Lots of unique finds as well as name brand. Fun kids toy section and vintage toys like kaleidoscopes, tin tops, and jump ropes to name a few. There is also a full farm/ feed store. There is a cafe within the store that looks to have a solid following! It was busy when we stopped by. We were here on a weekday and I've heard they have specialty menus and cook outs on the weekend. Out the back doors of the feed store is the animal barn with goats, sheep, chickens and longhorns. Its all free and there was feed in tubs that you could give to the animals if desired. Loved all the goats and the friendly longhorn that was begging for some of the giant pellets. How could I say no to those big ole eyes?! We became buddies...cautiously, of course. Although it was a pain to get to as they were tarring the roads when we went, the smile on my kiddos face was priceless. This is a very small petting farm. You buy the food in the store and then go out back. We saw so many sheeps, goats, chickens, and a cow. Didn't get to see any long horns but we had fun. There is a little Cafe in the store. My little had so much fun. I'll definitely come back during pumpkin patch season. The folks here are so nice as well. read more

Of all the pumpkin patches this is the only one, in my opinion, worth the cost and time (and drive). The staff are all so friendly and helpful, the grounds are well kept and plenty large for all the people who visit. Our $10 entry included entry, a fun hay ride, feed for the goats, feed for the large steers/bulls & a pumpkin for each of us. It also included the giant hay maze. We drive over an hour to Preston Trail Farms each year and each year we have so much fun. I highly recommend coming for the Pumpkin Patch, I also recommend, to avoid all the field trips, arriving when it opens or after lunch time and any day but Friday :) **TIP: wear boots & active clothing - it is always muddy & between the hayride & maze you may get a little dirty read more

I LOVED it here. My mom brought us here to see the Longhorns (my siblings and I are from CA, so she wanted us to get a real Texas feel), the staff was super friendly and he even recommended us other farms to check out too. We paid $4 for a bucket of feed for the farm animals and it was plenty to last us (3 people) a good 20-30 minutes. It was very entertaining and beautiful to see all the animals they had. I bought some souvenirs here too, I just wish they had magnets! Having the friendly staff with a very welcoming attitude definitely warmed us to Texas :) Thank you guys! read more

I'm not sure what happened. This place was so good last year, but seemed like they didn't care at all this year. Barely any pumpkins, no decorations or places to take photos, and not as many animals. We paid $15/person for like 30-60 min of entertainment. Not much to do. It was pretty sad this year. Wouldn't go back. This year, it was basically a cup of feed for the animals, a train ride that hurts your bottom (muddy seats and driver doesn't even check or look back to make sure kids are safe), and a hay ride that also hurts your bottom and is slow and boring. The price keeps going up and the experience doesn't improve and in fact seems to deteriorate each year. The "photo spots" are more of a hazard than nice place to take photos. I spent $60 for admission, a large and small pumpkin which included feeding animals, a ok maze, a tractor ride that looks at nothing and a barrel train that also lacks anything of interest. The staff this year was very rude which was not normal and automatically set the start of our time here off on a bad foot. We loved it here years ago but I feel like they don't take care of the property like they did and they sure don't seem to try and add anything yet increase the prices and the attitudes of people working is pretty disappointing. It's been fun but there's multiple other photo ops and farms with more to offer and less. Don't love driving further but I'm just not paying for the lack of in the experience here. read more

We went out to Preston Trail Farms this past weekend so our baby could see the pumpkins and animals. Haven't not been to a pumpkin patch in a long time i didn't know what to expect. All in all it was a great time. To get in it was $10 per person. The baby was free. We got access to all the rides, animals and hay maze. We got two cups of feed for the animals as well. We walked around at first and took some pictures among the pumpkins, hay and other areas. Then went inside to get something to eat. The staff was very friendly and the food was good. We both had fried chicken sandwiches. The only drawback and keep in mind its a farm are all the flies. But hay what can you do (see what i did there, lol). The tractor ride was fun. There is a little story on black boards if you follow along. The animals were eager to eat as well. The hay maze wa fun but they have lots of nats. Didn't bother me but my wife was swatting them. I think we left with 4 med to large pumpkins and 3 small ones for about $32 or so. All in all it was a great time. We'll be back in future years. Keep up the great work. Justin read more

I have so many great things to say about this place. Took my kids and my sister and nieces to this place to take pictures with Mr and Mrs Claus. Enjoyed the set up for the pics. Hard to believe this place didn't charge to enjoy feeding and petting the animals. The food was amazing! I never had a brisket, egg and cheese taco and it was so good! The brisket sandwich was a bit pricier but definitely well worth it. Had a couple of side items, potato salad and macaroni and cheese. So delicious my stomach is growling just thinking of the food lol! Staff was so friendly and helpful. The banana pudding was very delicious and cold, perfect way to end the day. Took beautiful pics outdoors. Just an overall fun day. Ages of the kids were 1, 2, 6, 14 and 16 and we all enjoyed the day together. Great way to spend with family. We had such a great time here! Our son is probably still a bit too young to enjoy this fully but we still had a blast! Great place for toddlers to burn off some energy! We took our two well-behaved corgis with us too!! Kids are free under 2yo and adult admission is $10 which gets you food to feed the goats and cows and a hot dog which was pretty tasty. There's a maze, petting zoo, pumpkin patch, train ride, horse and buggy ride for extra $5, a lasso area, plenty of picnic tables and places for photos! The drive wasn't far but it was scenic and relaxing. Straight up Preston Rd and it's on the right. We will definitely be back next year! read more

Coming from Chicago, we had amazing pumpkin patches in the burbs... really would be hard to find one that tops those BUT regardless, it was a nice experience here. This is a beautiful location. I took my grandchildren for hay ride, petting zoo and lunch. They had fun. That is the reason for a 4 star rating. It is pricey for a family. The employees from the gate to the store were not friendly nor helpful. No discount for a senior nor handicapped child. While there is outside seating by the restaurant, there is no seating farther out near the petting barn and hayride line, where we needed it. There is hand sanitizer by the petting zoo, but wish there was a soap & water pump. You can't clean your hands with sanitizer after feeding drooling animals. The restaurant is more like a short order stand. It was very crowded with quite a wait. It did have seating outside. read more

DISAPPOINTED. Drove 45 mins to Preston Trail's pumpkin patch on Columbus Day due to their Facebook advertisement of being one of the best pumpkin patch in Texas. They really shouldn't be advertising that since they didn't live up to it. There were sparse pumpkins laid out. I would say less that's 200 pumpkins! They shouldn't be promoting a pumpkin patch but maybe a fall event of some sort instead. We usually go to the pumpkin patch in Flower Mound and the Dallas Arboretum but figure we try something new this year. We won't be coming back to Preston Trails. $8 entry fee is a bit much for having sparse pumpkins on display, at least we were able to each take a (small) pumpkin home. There was hardly any good spots for photo ops. I love taking pictures of my children and took maybe 10 pictures that day when I would normally take a hundred or so pictures. The only thing we enjoyed was the hay ride but it was nothing entertaining. Least at the Flower Mound pumpkin patch they have different cut outs of characters for the kids to be excited over. There's a petting area of farm animals which was ok. My son probably liked that the most. I don't mean sound like a Debbie downer but what can I say, it's my honest opinion and I was just really disappointed. If you go to their Facebook, a lot of people have the same sad experience with the pumpkin patch. read more

This place is awesome. Great friendly staff, family owned. Fun place to bring the kids. They have animals to feed and pet. It's just your good old home town farm store. They have most everything you could need hardware wise and the food is wonderful as well. Prices are very reasonable too. I will definitely be going here instead of tractor supply. read more

This is a 3.5 star rating for the Big Orange Pumpkin Farm. Pricing info on the website is a bit difficult to find, but the admission fee is $8 per person over 2 years old. Upon arriving, we pay $16 and are given a "hot dog" coupon and told the admission price includes a hot dog and a pumpkin. The Brewer and I thought this was an OK deal for the $16 we paid in admissions. *Disclaimer - neither of us are used to going to pumpkin patches where there is a fee to enter, so this is weird for us* As we are leaving with the two pumpkins we picked out, we are told we have to pay for them. It was a bit embarrassing, because we thought we were getting a free pie pumpkin each. Pie Pumpkins run $3. You only get a free pumpkin if you go Monday - Friday. Also, there is no info on pumpkin prices on the website or at the entrance. We only saw a sign inside the general store, and it was off to the side. Most of the pumpkins seem to be of the "pie" size. There were not many big ones, and we went on October 3. I think the information about pricing needs to be more visible on-line and at the farm. Other than that - we really enjoyed taking our baby to the Big Orange Pumpkin Farm. This is a good place to go with kids, especially if they are from the city or not familiar with farms. There are kids everywhere, and not always being supervised by there parents either. All of the kids were having fun. The petting zoo is cows, a few of which are Longhorns, sheep, and goats. You are given some feed to give to the animals upon entry. Mini-pirate seemed to enjoy watching the goats. My favorite part is the actual pumpkin farm aspect. There is a patch of green, leafy pumpkin plants with some green pumpkins still on the vine. You are able to walk around these. Orange pie pumpkins off the vine are next to the vines and available for purchase. Since we went on a Saturday, we got a free hot dog. I could tell it was grilled outside and it's nothing fancy, but it was a good treat. A hot tip about this place: they sell Dublin, Texas soda in the General Store. Overall, I enjoyed this place. While the entry fee is less expensive than some other pumpkin patch/farms in the Dallas area, the prices for actual pumpkins seem a tad high. This is a great place to bring your kids if you are in the north Dallas or surrounding areas, but I wouldn't drive out of my way for it. Do not forget to bring your camera. read more

My daughter and I visited Preston Trail Farm today with a friend. For a fair admission price, we were able to see a ton of animals in the petting zoo along with a cup of food each to share amongst them. Warning: the animals can and will take your entire cup of feed right out of your hand. While hilarious, my feeding of animals was short-lived. Also included with your admission is a hay-bale maze, a hayride and a choice of pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. All around adorable and largely enjoyed by myself as well as my little one. Our visit was during the week and was relatively slow for the farm. Even still, the staff was kind and treated us as if we were any larger group. We were able to do all the activities without any problem. We took a break for lunch in the cafe on site where we all enjoyed huge cheeseburgers and fries. I was excited to be able to enjoy a Dublin grape soda with my meal. I love when places carry Dublin! The burgers were gigantic. They were obviously pre-formed patties but tasty all the same and a very fair price. For a low price, we enjoyed at least half a day at Preston Trail Farms and look forward to coming again next fall! read more
