I had a Directv HD Recorder that was running "hot" constantly. It makes it that the HDR won't let you watch or record anymore, whenever it gets high in temperature. Requested services and was quoted one price. When staff came out was quoted another higher price for services. Balked at the price and suggested the staff needed know what they are quoting for services. I was about to say OK let go with it but was interrupted by install staff member telling me to, and I quote, to "go fuck yourself", got huffy puffy with no explanation and proceeded to put stuff back in his truck. In shock I just turned and walked away as I wasn't intending to get confrontational with this guy. No follow up from management about the issue so I wouldn't recommend this company one bit. We had a wonderful experience with Preston TV & Video. We have a 1964 Zenith record player that weighs about 200 pounds. We called and they sent a very knowledgeable repairman to our home (during the promised call time), he inspected our player, and took it with him that day. There is a service charge for a home visit, but it goes toward the balance of the repair. He kept it for a few weeks and basically rebuilt the interior. His work has been described as "meticulous", which I would agree with. He returned the player to our home, staying for a while to test it out and make sure we knew how all of the features work. We were very pleased with the work (it sounds amazing and should last another 60 years) and felt like we were experiencing customer service from a bygone age. read more

A year ago the lamp went out on my 73" Mitsubishi TV. They were the only ones in town who keep the lamp in stock so I drove over and they mounted the bulb in my old housing. I took it home put it in and it worked fine. They charged me $139.00 plus tax so total $143.00. Today the bulb goes out again and I start trying to find my receipt which I did but thought I would check to see if anyone closer to me had one in stock. I found several that were priced from $27.00-$33.00 including shipping. I called and talked to a Dusty or Dustin I couldn't make his name out but he told me they were a retail business (just as all the other lower priced ones) and they were in a prime location. This is price gouging.. Over 300% higher than any competitor. I highly recommend that you shop by part number before going to Preston TV. They are way over kill on their pricing. When I called he seemed insulted that I would even ask and then hung up on me. I plan on reporting them to the FTC for price gouging today...Maybe their location warrants that type of pricing but I will not believe it until a investigation is done. read more

I brought a TV in that looked like it was failing to display one of the colors on the color spectrum (red/blue/yellow) and was looking funky. Friends had told me that usually TV repairs aren't worth what they usually cost, but I thought I'd take it in to Preston TV & Video just in case. The technician on site was great. He carried my TV to and from my car. Turns out some setting on the TV had been switched and when he switched it back, everything was appearing just fine. No charge. No gimmicks. He prob could have quoted me something and kept it for the day and I would have been none the wiser, but he didn't. And he didn't make me feel dumb for not realizing it was just a TV setting issue. We bought a TV from Preston TV about three years ago, at a cost of approximately $1500. The picture started going bad about a month ago, and we called them for repair. They came to the house, couldn't fix it at the house, and said they needed to bring it to the shop. This was on July 3rd. We asked when we would know if it could be fixed, we were told in 1 week. After two weeks, when we hadn't heard from them, we called, and it was clear they hadn't even looked at it yet, but said they would get right on it. The next day, they called, said it could be fixed, but they needed to order some parts, should be a few days. After another week, called again, and they again it was clear they hadn't done anything yet, but they would get right on it. Then today they called to say that the new parts didn't fix the problem, so we probably should buy a new TV, because it would cost more than it was worth to fix. So here's my summary: * Sold us a lousy TV * Provided terrible service * Demonstrated poor diagnostic skills read more

My TV wouldn't turn on occassionally and when it did, the picture wouldn't show. I took it there a total of three times. The staff was friendly but the service was horrible. I paid for a repair and ultimately never got it! They never called me to advise when the TV was ready or the status of repair. I always initiated contact. I was told repeatedly they were ordering parts over several weeks. They claimed to test it and everything was working fine. When I got it home, it was doing the exact same thing that I took it there for. End results: I spent money for a repair that was never completed. I had to load my 55" TV into the car a total of 3 times in an attempt to give them an opportunity to fix it and they never did. read more

Very unpleased with them overcharging for repairs. I have a 55" tv and was charged $75 just for diagnosis only to find out they are not able to fix my tv. So I had to pay $75 to get it out and Went to another place and got it fixed for $30! read more

DO NOT GET SCAMMED!!!! READ THE REVIEWS, there's a trend. I now realize there is a reason they charge a diagnosis fee upfront ($75). I asked if they could give me an idea around what it would cost me since I had a good idea of what was wrong, my power supply. They gave me every excuse to beat around the bush and not quote me a price. I ended up leaving it there because I was on a time crunch. I dropped it off around 9am, they said they would contact me by the end of business. I had to call back the next day at 4pm for them to give me another excuse about the technician being out all day but yet he was the one who answered the phone (Brian). Finally the lady proceeds to tell me it's going to $438 which is about at least $200 higher then EVERYONE else. I know this now because I called around. So I ask for a breakdown from her $100 for the part, $180 for labor and $40 for overnight shipping plus tax. Well this is way less then the original quote so I ask for an explanation. She doesn't know what to say at this point so she says she'll have someone call me back. Brian calls back and here is where the lies pile on. He tries to tell me the part is $229 which still didn't add up so he then says that it's $68 for overnight shipping!!!! Where in the world is it coming from? He realizes it doesn't make sense and says that it includes taxes and other fees too...... what?!?! I am pretty frustrated we the lies at this point so I ask to speak to a manager, they said he would call by 5pm. After I made some phone calls to confirm I wasn't out of line with what I thought would be fair, I called back. Then ANOTHER LIE, he said the part was $189 and when I called him out he said well I am on Preston and Forest it cost me $5000 a month to stay open. Listen I get that everyone needs to make profit, but you don't need to be almost double then everyone else and then start to make up all sorts of lies to try to make it. I even gave him a chance to still earn my business since he already had $75 of mine. We agree on $300 and then tries to tell me it won't be ready in the next two days because overnight shipping is more!!!!!!! What?!?!? Dude you can't be serious!!! I told him I'd come get my tv, which He didn't care much because he already had my $75. DO NOT GET SCAMMED BY THIS PLACE! We had them come out for a service call and assumed that if they could not repair it on-site, at least their diagnostics would provide the source of the problem. Well, the repairman came out and basically checked our lamp, then told me that it would have to be taken in to have it diagnosed. What? I called and made the manager aware of what had transpired, and he politely explained that these were the store procedures and that the service call fee would be applied to repair total, if brought in. I feel that the service call was disingenuous because the diagnostics apparently can only be done in their shop. Bottom line: Television still doesn't work, and we're out $ 97.37! read more

They were very knowledgeable of exactly what I was wanting to do for the restaurant I run. They were able to adhere to all of my specific demands, my difficult time slots, and my multiple questions. HI All! I felt the need to write in as I have had a TERRIBLE experience with Preston TV and Video. I have never taken the time to write a review before in all my years, but this experience was so bad I felt I needed to warn everyone so your time is not wasted! I called to schedule a Home Theater install consultation and was told the service providers would arrive between 1 and 3 pm today. I called to confirm this morning and was told they would be coming for sure, and verified that if they were not going to be able to meet the allotted time slot that they would call to let me know. I have now spent the past two hours on my couch waiting, and at 3pm called to ask what the status was...they informed me they were no longer going to be able to make it. I said, OK, are you not going to apologize? I have been sitting at my house for two hours waiting and you have had my phone number the entire time. The man was like "sorry". I informed him (politely) that this was terrible customer service and he said that he would be happy to cancel the entire thing if I would like. I was literally shocked at how flippant/ambivalent he was! I would not recommend working with Preston TV and Video. I have now wasted an entire afternoon, and then been treated poorly afterwards! I honestly don't ever write bad reviews but I feel like I need to this time to help warn people about this place overcharging for the sake of overcharging. So this is my experience. My tv was damaged during a power outage. You know the usual power supply gets knocked out real basic switching of old power supply for the new power supply and we are all good. Well not the case this time. Apparently they wanted to charge me $100+ for a part that only cost less than $40. Not only that but they also wanted to charge $100 something for labor on a part that doesn't require any soldering or anything at all. The only thing they needed to do was unplug the old power supply board and plug in the new power supply board. Now I'm out $35 bucks for the "diagnostics check" which I totally understand why they do that. But to BLATANTLY OVERCHARGE me on a part that I told them that needed to be changed out is ridiculous. Especially when it took them weeks to get back to me on. Hope this review helps others out. BE VERY CAREFUL with this place folks. read more
