Stayed at the Grand for two nights and was told their steak was legit. I have no idea what happened with some other reviews I've read, but everything about our meals there was fantastic. We ate two breakfasts, one lunch, and one dinner and every meal was superb. Eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast were a great way to start the day. The cheeseburger and asparagus was a great lunch to energize for the slopes. And the steak was worth every penny. Not looking so good. Customer service, not just only at this restaurant, has been appalling. The guest services members out and on the hill are phenomenal. But the privileged employees who work inside do not make the cut. Tonight at 7pm, I called in to ask if I needed to make a reservation for 8:30-9, or if I could make one. I was told that it was not required and to come by. With my three friends in tow, I show up expecting to be seated right away and I'm ask if I have a reservation. I told them that I tried to make one and was told not to. They asked me whom I spoke to then gave me some bullshit reason about how they're trying a "new" system where they don't take reservations within one week of the seating date. You're a goddamned restaurant that's only in operation for a couple of weeks, and your resort's attendance is pauldry. So why the hell would you limit reservations? Its absurd. This is in no way hospitality, or in any form how you treat guests. Had this been a "new system" that was in place, your staff wouldn't have suggested to just 'come in'. It would have been an initiative that every member of your team understood, and can clearly handle. If you're letting you staff come up with stupid reasons to defend their "integrity" then you have a sinking ship. Your resort has even offered par pricing for Canadians to come down here and spend money, and frankly, if this is what I have to expect in service, I will decide to spend my money elsewhere in the world. This is strike two after your snowboard shop failed to recognize customers (myself and friends) in the line despite there being three staff, and only one customer at the kiosk/cashier desk. Absolutely a disgusting level of service, and its only day one of my stay. And I have yet to receive an apology from these subpar hostesses or any other staff. ---- update #1 ---- still waiting Waiting for 30 minutes and there have been 4 tables turned over with another 5 available. WTF. ---- update #2 ----finally seated Hostess brought the one set up that we were missing, but also brought an extra. A lacking attention to detail? All four of us ordered burgers with the server, only asked two of us the wellness of the meat. Asked if I could have the blue heaven burger with brie cheese, was told that because of low stock, it was not possible. Not a good reason to provide. I will understand if you can't make substitutions instead. Not because you're low on stock and I'm paying for a meal anyway. ---- update #3 ---- warm bread arrives 30 mins after ordering Its been over an hour since I've arrived before I am able to eat. If that's the level of service to expect you're going to absolutely fail when you're busy. Guys a few tables from us finished their chicken wings 15mins ago. Still waiting there with a sad look on their face as the bones sit motionlessly in front of them. "Bread and butter... It's like being held prisoner." -friend at my table ---- update #4 ---- food arrives 40 minutes after ordering Fries hot, not crispy. Burger charred and medium rare as requested. Veggies look a bit dry on the side. Water service was great throughout the wait, but we could have been told that the kitchen needed 40 mins for a burger. So the bartenders are great here, so good they save the lackluster cuisine. Lots of welcoming banter and smiles. They pour fast and for the price, everything should be fresh and scrumptious. Truth is, while the ingredients are exotic the prep is anything but. So come here for drinks and snacks (duck quesadilla is fun) but the entrees are not up to even KTown par. The Raman is bland with no broth. The Veal Parlatte is like something your mom made by accident. Its all so bland but again, the wait staff and bartenders made up.for that so it is worth visiting because they hire well. read more

I was in Killington for less than 48 hours and dined at Preston's 3 times. Twice for dinner and once for their buffet brunch. Even though it's a hotel restaurant, it actually has a great menu and amazing service. My friend and I ordered the cod w/ lobster and risotto to be split and they did it for us which I really appreciated. The food is fresh and light. My one complaint is that I ordered salmon with a salad and it came well done, basically hammared, rather than medium rare. Regardless, solid 4 stars! read more

Our expectations were low, being that this is in a hotel, but it looked cute and recently redone with a creative menu so maybe it would be good? Meh. First we came for drinks only around 4:30. The bartenders were good and prompt. One of them didn't give us water, the next one did (without asking) that was the only difference between them and potential "complaint" (not complaining, If I want water i would be fine to ask). We left and came back for dinner. There were four parties waiting to be seated in seemingly not busy place. The hostess was frazzled and I couldn't even speak to her because she was talking to herself trying to figure it out. She would leave to go check on the table then come back and talk to the next person then leave to go check on their table two minutes later. Not sure why she didn't do that when seating the party before but ok. A man came to help for a bit and he seemed to know more but they also weren't really working together so one didn't know what the other was doing. Got seated. A woman came to take our drink orders. A minute later another one came and we told her we already talked to someone. She was confused. The first one brought drinks back for us and returned a minute later to take our orders. We ordered an onion soup. It was literally 15 min before this came to us. She didn't stop by or check in at all during this time. Finally it came w some bread and butter. The butter was extremely hard and cold and totally not spreadable. Then while my husband was still eating the soup the food came. Weird. He got mac and cheese w buffalo chicken and blue cheese added. I got a burger cooked medium and truffle potatoes. Had to pay extra for the potatoes but also got the chips (because the potatoes were technically a side I had to order separately). The burger was well done and had prob been sitting under the lamp for a bit. Potatoes ok but needed salt and pepper. Chips were good! The mac and cheese was hot and good except the sauce was kind of bland and runny. She didn't clear our stuff the whole time so we had soup bowl plus bread plates and basket plus entrees on our tiny table the whole time. This place wants to be good. Interesting menu w poor execution. Need more people working (have a server and also food runners - totally necessary!). Host situation need improvement. Annoying this is the only place to eat on site while staying here. I guess that means they don't have to really try because people will come regardless. read more

The food here was amazing! We're staying at the Grand- it would have sucked if we had missed out if we weren't staying here. The lamb entree was incredible! The sage gnocchi was great too. We've been eating around here and this hotel restaurant was coincidentally one of the best places. Check out the menu it's really good. The service was also friendly and attentive (that's been consistent in this town anyhow). I'll be eating here next time even if I'm not staying at the Grand. read more

Food wasn't very good, service was even worse. To start off with, we arrived at 9AM on a Sunday. Wasn't busy at all. An employee seated us, afterward the hostess with round glasses came over and scolded our table because she thought we seated ourselves, that's a no no. We then waited 30 minutes for a waiter to come over and take our order (not exaggerating). Food came pretty quick after ordering though. But it was not very good. Four different people ordered four different meals and not a single person thought their meal was worth having again (i.e., below average). In the meantime we watched as another table had to grab the manager because they were tired of waiting to order. There are lots of fantastic places to eat around this area. Don't settle with Preston's just because you are staying at the hotel. read more

Renovations look great. Welcome addition to the Killington scene. Applewood Slab Bacon, Calamari, Baby Kale Caesar, and Thai Salmon Salad were all great. One minor complaint, our wine glasses were dirty. Lipstick and finger prints. They were quickly replaced with appropriate apologies. But, really, that should never happen. It speaks to the general cleanliness of a restaurant and the kitchen and their attention to detail. 5 stars without this mishap. read more

Came here for dinner after a long drive from NJ. We got there before dinner, so the very friendly hostess and waitress gave us the "Lite Fair" menu. There was a handful of small plates. We decided to order the three lollipops. We were very hungry and wanted something ample to hold us off before dinner time. The Lollipops, are three different skewered meats with bacon wrapped around them. My son ate the crab cake, he said it was fine. I had the shrimp wrapped with bacon, it had an off putting smell, I shouldn't have eaten it. The scallop also smelled off, I took one bite, it was sour, needless to say I didn't finish it. Don't order the Lollipops... We both ordered burgers for our entrees. They were both cooked to order and tasty. Our waitress was very nice. Our appetizer was inedible. Burgers were great! read more

Hands down the BEST service tonight! I have two boys on the autism spectrum which means they can be obnoxiously particular to wait on. This waiter ( Eric?) was ready and intuitive. He rolled with the strange requests that usually raises eyebrows from most waitresses. It is such a relief for parents like us who are exhausted from making apologies and excuses. Thank you! While the restaurant looks beautiful. The food on a Monday night in September was blah. We both ordered the chorizo stuffed chicken with corn flan. The chicken was over cooked a dry. I was in town attending a wedding nearby. We stayed at the Killington Grand for a few nights. After a long days travel our family decided to eat at Prestons. Very nice decor and friendly staff. The waitress advised us of the specials and took our drink order. The four of us order meals ranging from burgers, specialty salads, and mac n cheese. All the meals came out hot and ready. I have to say the beet salad was really good. The waitress kept our glasses full and checked on us during the meal. No desert because we had to leave for a wedding party. On another review. We also had breakfast at Prestons the next morning because of a time crunch. Again the staff was great! The pumpkin spice pancakes with maple syrup were the best. My wife enjoyed here waffles and they made they bacon the way she likes it, crispy! Expect to pay resort prices. read more

This restaurant claims to be "a good place to eat and drink" however I'd like to update that catchphrase with a more fitting "the only place to eat with garbage service". Food was bland, nothing grand or impressive about it. Our server was shockingly bad. She greats us with yes I'm busy busy busy almost to imply the disastrous event to follow. She basically gave up on any tip from the start and it felt like we were the peasants in the corner. In case your having trouble figuring out which server, just order a bottle of kianti and whoever spends a painfully awkward 5 minutes attempting to open the bottle without ever succeeding. I'm scarred from the experience. Besides the bottle fiasco, the service top to bottom was horrible. We were asked to wait 20 minutes fine we happily obliging only to pester them after 45 minutes which the restaurant seemed to somehow forget about us as we sat in front of them the whole time. I'll start by saying I have been coming to Killington Grand Hotel every year during the holiday season and love the place. That being said, Prestons, the name has changed (used to be ovations) but sadly nothin else has. The Bad: Overall Prestons is a disappointment. Staying in the hotel as myself I want this place to be good but it's food is just bland (hamburger) to not good (Mac and cheese). I was surprised by the sub par food given the surprising menu options such as duck confit cassoulet and bruschetta swordfish. I didn't have the gusto to try such items given my opinion of their simpler menu items. The good: The service is okay but the staff is makes up for it with their great personalities and small town charm. The actual bar, dining area and decor are very nice and updated. So overall if you're looking to have a fantastic meal there are better places in Killington to go than Prestons. This place has everything it needs to succeed but the food quality is not there in my opinion. read more

I have been visiting Killington for years and this is by far one of my favorite restaurants on the mountain and in general! The menu is a mixture of classic & unique dishes, meaning there is something for everyone. The bartenders and servers are all extremely friendly and provide exceptional service! I had my best meal ever here last night! Chorizo stuffed chicken w/corn flan, grilled tomato w/avocado & cilantro. Chicken was lightly browned and had an outer crispy layer (loved that). Chorizo was really tasty and not too spicy. I thought I would not like the corn flan but it had a great consistency, the corn was sweet and it had a great texture. I paired it w/a nice wine recommended by Bruce, the best bartender in town. I have been coming to Prestons for a while now and they are always upping their game. Since I always stay at the Grand when I come to Killington, I am so glad it has such a good restaurant. read more

Preston's is a great place to go for the food and the atmosphere. The bartenders Bruce, Mike, and Ashley are so attentive and offer some great suggestions. They have a great selection of local beer and their pasta Bolognese is so good! We had such an amazing visit to Killington and coming here added to it. I've tried this place many times while staying at the hotel, and it falls short every time. We always walk away saying to ourselves, how have they not improved things at this point. To be frank, you get better food from the K1 Peak Lodge than this place. Outside of a beer and wings, and the kids menu, almost everything else is mediocre at best. We have had numerous appetizers in the past and enjoyed them all. The renovations to the restaurant and bar is welcoming and high class! It is one of our favorite places in the Killington region! Great spot after a long day in the slopes. Good bar scene. We got duck quesadilla to start, some wings, burger, chicken sandwich, fries and potatoes chips. Awesome local brewery beer selection with super nice staff. Only issues I have is that their fish tacos were served on a whole wheat wrap and not a taco, but I guess that's what I get for ordering fish tacos at a ski resort. Wow this place has only been open for a few months, but the food is great and it has the best atmosphere on the mountain. If you are near its worth the stop. Looks like Preston's heard the complaints and fixed the issues because we had absolutely no problems whatsoever. The food was perfect and our server, J'Leen was on point from the moment we walked in. We ate there on Saturday, February 25th 2017 and the food was so good, 2 of my friends went back the following night while I drug my wife to one of our annual staples - the wobbly barn. My wife had wished we went back to Preston's and since my Delmonico steak wasn't that flavorful, I kind of do too. Either way, we went back to Preston's again that night for dessert! read more

I was alone - had just come off the mountain from skiing, had a quick massage and shower at the Grand and then had a light dinner by the fireplace while watching the snow come down outside! What a perfect night. The hostess at Preston's was very friendly and helpful and gave me great and attentive service even though I was not sitting in the restaurant but in the communal area by the fire. Preston's is a favorite of ours and we highly recommend you try it. Favorite dishes include the black cod, sea scallops, steak, honey chicken and veal. We thought this was going to be overpriced hotel food and we were right. My husband's meal of Mac and cheese with buffalo chicken was good but at $22 the portion was small (like a kid's meal) and didn't come with anything. I got the quinoa and kale salad with salmon. It was meh. The quinoa was on the side and not dressed ... totally plain, the salmon was good but the salad was small without a lot of toppings. At this price point it was disappointing. The service was very nice but SO slow ( we sat with empty drinks etc). But, it is convenient if you're staying at the Grand but I definitely wouldn't go to the Grand just to eat here. read more

We spent a week at Killington resort and enjoyed Preston's each day. We worked our way through the menu and every item was so very good. We kept going back because we liked it that much. We particularly enjoyed the pappardelle Bolognese and the expertly cooked steak. The staff was always welcoming and attentive. Highly recommend. read more

Food was really good, however they under cooked my wife's steak. By the time she got her steak back I was done my meal. All we got was a sorry. At the minimum, a free dessert would of been nice. The manager came by and asked how the meal was. We told him what happened and his response was that at least it was under cooked as that was easily corrected. He said if it was over cooked he would have to start over. Glad his cook screwed up to their benefit. They must teach that in hospitality and culinary school. Not impressed. read more

My experience last night at Preston's was absolutely a major disaster. My boyfriend and I met some friends for dinner at around 9:15pm where we were met with a bar menu that was subpar to say the least. There was only one option on that Bar menu that was not sea food. So there was not much to choose from. My boyfriend ordered the duck quesadilla and a "lollipop trio" which was a joke. When our food came out there was hair in our quesadilla and the trio we ordered was not described as to what we had thought we ordered. Needless to say we turned back the food . Norman the manager then gave us a to go container that had some wings in it that he had said was "his food" to take home but to make up for the error we could have it. HOW GROSS! I'm sorry but I'm a GM of a restaurant myself and that is just disgusting. After expressing to Norman how unsual and gross that was he then asked the kitchen to cook us some fries that were brought out by a waitress with blonde hair (older woman) who was outrageously rude. The fries were anything but enjoyable and when we said we did not want them she took the fries off the table in an aggressive and uncouth manner. About 5 minutes later she walked by and said the words PUTA as she walked by our table. Being Puerto Rican, this is an extremely offensive comment and utterly unacceptable to even mutter under your breathe. I am beyond disgusted that this resort can promote such racial undertones and profiling. After being completely offended, I was made to feel super comfortable for the rest of my stay. My boyfriend proceeded to the front desk and was given several cards for those people whom could in some way rectify this atrocity. With the way this resort appears I am completely disappointed and offended that a staff member would even treat a guest as such. I was made to feel racial profiled and uncomfortable by the staff at Preston's. My boyfriend proceeded to contact management about this situation and within 12 hours we met the director of the hotel Scott Harrison and the head Chef Greg Lang. They first asked us about our experience the night before and they did express their concerns and apologise for our horrible experience and extended a discount for one night of our stay and a free meal at the wobbly barn (another restaurant the hotel owns) and since I felt too uncomfortable to eat our complimentary breakfast at Preston's (which was included) they offered to make us breakfast and bring it up to the room. They did try and press going back into the restaurant several times which of course I denied since the waitress that insulted me was still scheduled to work. To be honest it felt like an attempt to just shut us up. When my boyfriend tried to call the director Scott later that day to organize our free dinner and the Wobbly barn he did not pick up nor 24 hours later have we heard from him. Why offer your assistance when you don't even assist us!! Even after leaving a voicemail on his "DIRECT LINE". The shear lack of not following up with a guest after expressing how apologetic you are is just disappointing. As disappointing as our experience was, Jasmin at the front desk was more than accommodating and the staff and food at the wobbly barn would be the ONLY reason we come back. Its sad that after eduring such racial distrimation and slurs that the rest of our experience was not more paramount to management. A simple follow up about even our dinner experience would have sufficed. Its disappointing that such a renowned establishment would allow such neglicence within guest services and allow such unprofessional management and staff to represent their brand. The only reason I gave this place a star was for Jasmin! She's delightful! read more
