Shauna, my hair stylist, treats me with her friendly, caring manner, showing a real interest in how my hair turns out after a color, highlights, and cut. She makes me feel like a new person, and I have been very pleased after each visit. An optional courtesy hand massage is a special treat, very relaxing. I have been going to Pret a Porter for over ten years now. What impresses me most is the professional quality of the salon. I know that my hair will look great, (both cut and color) and that I will feel relaxed and pampered during my appointment. I get compliments about my hair from my coworkers and even strangers. One day I was in Trader Joes, and a man walked up to me and said, "great hair, really nice cut and color." I thought to myself, "it doesn't get much better than that." I was looking for a local spot to get a pregnancy massage. Fortunately for me, my husband found Pret a Porter. It is a lovely little salon and day spa that I would recommend to anyone. My massage therapist, Theresa, was warm, friendly, and gave a great massage. I did not feel as if it was being rushed as I have with other places I have gone for a massage. They also have a great deal if you sign up for their massage club (once a month massage) you can get a reduced rate of $60 per 60 minute massage! I plan to go back next time I need a massage and will also try their other spa and salon services - I think a facial will be next on the list. read more

I have been going to the same hair stylist for the last 6 years, but I finally got tired of having orange hair and an uneven trim. I decided to try out Pret A Porter for highlights and a cut and I loved it! My stylist, Maria, was extremely attentive to what I wanted/didn't want and made sure that I knew what she was doing at all times. Everyone there was really friendly and I loved the atmosphere. This is a quaint little salon in La Mesa, I went for a Well needed Massage, they were very friendly and I notice that as I was there they had a class going on for the their stylists, it showed me they are keping up on new trends and continuing education. I would definately recommend this to anyone, also it is a place to buy Aveda products and I dont have to drive all the way to Fashion Valley, so thats a plus. Can be a bit pricey, however they have many discounts that make it very affordable for the everyday client. I would return to this salon. read more

I LOVE Pret-a-Porter!! I've been getting my hair cut there from Mandy for the last 2 and a half years and love this place!! I never had a go-to person to cut my hair until I went to Pret-a-Porter. He even took notes for my next appointment since I'd decided to do the color later. I have very fine hair so Dan cut it while it was dry and greatly improved the look of my layers. Just came back from Pre-A-Porter Salon and Spa. Roz, is the SUPREME stylist and colorist who did a fantastic job on my hair. Got it cut, colored, and styled...all wonderful! I'm a redhead and Roz has created the perfect color for me. It looks so natural and reminds me of the red I had as a kid. Wherever I go I get compliments on the cut, but especially the color. I also have gotten a massage from Mindy, who has her Master's degree in Eastern medicine and also does acupuncture. I've had many massages over the years and I can honestly say she is among the very best. I felt 100% better afterwards. They treat you as a treasured friend and pamper you. While I was sitting at a dryer, one of the massage therapists came by to give me a complimentary hand massage. I LOVE this place! I have been coming here for 2 years and my stylist is Shauna. She is absolutely professional and amazing! Never once have I had an "issue" with her coloring and cutting abilities, The compliments I get on my hair are non stop. I actually found her by accident. I was at a restaurant enjoying breakfast with my husband when I noticed a woman with the exact haircut I had been looking for, her hair was georgous! I struck up a conversation with her, when I asked where she had her hair cut, she provided me with Shauna's phone number. I immediately went home and called to make an appointment and have only gone to Shauna since that day! Not only are her coloring and cutting absolutely amazing, so is she! Very professional and knowledgeable in her field. I always am made to feel part of a huge welcoming family. I have never had a bad experience with her or the staff. horrid! i actually gave these people the "3 strike" rule. all three stylists were rude, talking to each other (and about each other) rather than to me. crazy high price with a terrible cut. i told the stylist that i don't style my hair...i got a cut, blow-dry and flit iron. my hair is 1 inch long!!! $120! apparently, i got a "color wash" that i knew nothing about, and did not agree to! also, the aestheticion is absolutely awful. i had some acne, so thought i would get the facial series. i pain for 6, but only went to 3...it has taken a solid year to calm my skin down after that. "it burns", i told her. "that means it's working" she said!! bright red and COVERED with zits for weeks! never even think about going here! read more

I had the worst experience at Pret A Porter. I decided to have a spa day on my birthday before attending birthday celebrations. I had a pedicure, a facial, deep conditioning, cut and style. The pedicure was just so so, I could have had a better one at the local nail salon. The woman that was doing it was rubbing some scrub on my legs that was turning them bright red and it was burning. The woman that was doing the pedicure next to me had to tell her that she should probably stop and use the sensitive skin products (REALLY??!!! was it not obvious when I told her it was burning?). Next I had my facial which was BY FAR the best part about the salon. It was wonderful and I enjoyed myself. Next up, hair. So I have very thick curly hair and in talking to the hairstylist I informed her that I was very nervous about having someone different than normal cut my hair. She assured me that there was nothing to worry about and that she would do a great job. She asked me if she could thin my hair out and I agreed to it. On the first section of the hair that was to be thinned I am sitting there and all of the sudden I just feel major pressure on my hair and CUT. OOPS she had a very large chunk of my very long hair in her hand!! She had used her scissors and not her thinning shears! I was devastated but did not make a scene because I didn't want the whole salon to be focused on me. The stylist goes and talks to the owner who comes over and says oh I'm sorry, i don't think it will be noticeable. Your hair cut will be free today. I was shocked. I could not believe that that was all that was said to me and that they just felt that leaving the $35 charge out was enough. I cried and they wanted to finish my hair, I politely said no thank you and just allowed her to style it. Upon leaving the salon my hair looked like it had a huge rats nest on top of it. when I got home I realized that my hair was COMPLETELY UNEVEN and my "side bangs" were not even close to side bangs.I then later had to go to a different salon and when the hairstylist there saw the hack job she was so surprised because regardless of the wrong scissors being grabbed she said that the woman at pret a porter should NOT have been thinning my hair 1 INCH from my scalp. Never did I get a phone call with an apology or a real effort to mend things. I will NEVER recommend this salon and will pass the word on. read more

First time at Pret a Porter I was greated very kindly and professionally. My hairstylist Roz was extremely talented and I was finally able to find someone that can actually "LISTEN" to how I wanted my hair cut and then do it. This is not a fast paced salon and you are most definitely not just another number like the other places where you are in and out. You know what I mean. They take their time and make it right. The staff is extremely courteous and make feel very welcome. I returned a few days later for a mani and pedi...Elva did an extraordinary job all while softely talking and getting to know me. I felt very comfortable with all the staff and the salon is very inviting and serene. They have semi private area for manicures for that shy male. You don't have to sit around with a much of ladies while you have your manly stuff going on. This place is a must visit....oh I also purchased tons of hair products. I just moved into La Mesa a few weeks ago and a girlfriend of mine was in need of a haircut and all of the other essentials. I have never seen her so happy after her first visit so I decided to get her a gift certificate for her birthday which was in January. I asked her what she liked about this new salon compared to her old salon before we moved. She said that the staff were all very friendly and helpful and she really liked her last haircut. She also said it was an easy tradition because she always uses Aveda and Pret-a-Porter is an Aveda concept salon.
