I found this lil gem on Groupon, I did not even had to make an appointment for a brazilian, she said just to walk in, I did, she just finished up a threading, I liked what I saw , I'll be back for that service as well :) Anyways, quick in, quick out, I did not even feel pain and I was not charged extra for the back either. I have had some bad experiences where they tell you on the spot that's an extra charge, but not Yazmine. She is honest and just a professional. We had a great convo, she is sweet and smart. The last couple weeks I've been contemplating trying Henna on my hair to darken the grey. I live near the salon so I decided to visit Pretty Hair Design. I informed Yasmeen my goals of strengthening my hair, etc. She recommended the protein treatment along with a scalp massage for $35.00. Ok, sounds great to me. She went off to explain how she never encounter working with African Americans hair. She continued her conversation but on NORMAL people hair it does great Indians, Hispanics and Caucasians. I couldn't believe what left her mouth. I asked you don't think African Americans are normal people? I had an inner body experience everything moving in slow motion thinking to myself wowwwww. As a society African Americans still have to go through this ignorant shit but they call us the degrading names. Why not stay in India if you feel that ignorant towards mix cultures in the U.S. She left India to come where I'm a born citizen, but I'm not normal! Most important thing is Terrible Customer Service.The owner will talk to you so nicely initially and if there are problems you report after taking service , they give no ear.. I did Brazilian blowout and since I got no results she called me to come with my Shampoo so she can wash and check it ..Drove 30 miles one way and she said I have to run and cannot do anything.Well I stayed there for lunch nearby restaurant and checked she was still there with another lady and taking customers..So terrible liar ! This was my first time coming here to get a Brazilian wax and it was a great experience! I called for an appointment and she was able to get me in same day, which was extremely convenient. The wax itself was quick and I was in an out in 20 minutes. The salon was nice and clean. My only thing was the aesthetic of the salon could have been a little bit better/cleaner looking. I got my haircut, highlights, and Brazilian blowout done here (all at the same time) . The results were amazing. Yasmin did a fantastic job and Ruby as well. They were very patient and thorough. My hair is very thick and frizzy but the blowout made a huge difference....I realized the quality of their work when a hair stylist at Ulta kept complementing me and asked me where I got the Brazilian done. They also do a great job with the haircut. Ruby does a fantastic job. She has a great sense of styling ....especially for Indian/Paki and middle-eastern hair type. Excellent service and great rates. This location is my sole reason for creating a Yelp account. I purchased the Groupon for 3 full face threading for only $45! Anyone like me who needs to ehem groom more often that others knows this is an amazing find. Sadly after being OVERCHARGED, I left with two very different shaped brows, wax in my ear and hair, cuts, burns, and hair 4 inches shorter than what I asked for, I quickly realized it wasn't as amazing as one would assume. But then again, who cares what the paying clients specifically asks for. Definitely not the stylist, or the other for that matter, who had the blatant audacity to laugh at my horror of the end result. Beyond the horrendous experience and outcome, did I mention being OVERCHARGED? I was charged $20 for a trim - the sign clearly states $15+ for a full cut. I'm sure this will be argued since the stylist took it upon herself to take a few more inches off, as well as add layers that were specifically declined. In addition, the attempt to collect an additional $5 was made for the eyebrow portion of a full face coupon. Last I checked, my eyebrows were on my face. A I still have remaining Groupons that will unfortunately be wasted, but you couldn't pay me to step foot in this establishment once again, not by the hairs on my chiny chin chin. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Don't ever get a Brazilian wax there. I was second thinking it as soon as I walked in and completely regretted it once it was too late. Before they started the lady showed me to the bathroom and told me to wash my area with cheap HAND SOAP at the SINK. I've gone to many places and have never been asked to do this... I don't know if it's because of the way I look or if they ask every customer that. The wax room was gross and didn't look sanitary at all. After waiting about 5 minutes. The lady comes in and tells me to dress down but she stays in the room with the door open while I do so. My first warning sign should have been the fact that they use soft wax, which is basically for facial waxing. Hard wax is thicker and takes the hair out thicker hair easier, with less pain. The wax they used was so cheap and thin. It hurt my area every time she'd apply it, i could feel the popcicle sick rub against and irritate my skin. I don't even think this lady was a certified esthetician. She was applying the wax in all different directions. And half way through she leaves the room, LEAVES THE DOOR OPEN, and her coworker comes in. So now they start to "tag team" my Brazilian wax. I am hairy, but it's really not that serious. I have had a Brazilian wax at least ten other times with no issues and the estheticians were quick and done in like 10 minutes. So the other lady starts making comments to me, then they start speaking in their native language, which is fine, but then they also laughing and looking at me. I felt like a zoo animal. When I got home and cleaned myself off I realized that I was bleeding. In all my waxes I have never bled. And my area is SO sore now, more than the first time I ever got waxed. Save yourself the trip. Don't ever go here. read more

After having my eyebrows messed up one too many times by other salons, my mom recommended that I try Pretty Hair Design. I haven't been to anyone else since. I get my threading and some waxing done here, usually by Yasmin (the owner). They do a great job and Yasmin is always friendly and thorough. She remembers customers by name and doesn't mind spending an extra few minutes to make sure the customer is satisfied and the job is done right. read more

I've been here a few times for threading. There is almost always a wait and they don't take appointments. The good thing is that usually the wait isn't bad- it can range from 5 to 20 minutes. The atmosphere is ok. Once I went in and someone's kids were screaming and running all over the waiting area. Other than that, it is usually quiet. As far as how good the threading is, it really depends on who you get. There are one or two people there who always do a good job. However, once I had a person nick my lip a bit with the thread when she heard the phone ring. It healed quickly, but still... The worst experience I had there (and the last one) was when the woman pointed out that I had a couple of gray eyebrow hairs and that I needed to take my vitamins. I told her that I knew I had the gray hairs and I had several on my head, that I took vitamins, and the gray hair was just genetic. However, she insisted it was abnormal to have gray eyebrow hairs and that I must have some sort of vitamin deficiency. I thought that was really rude and ignorant. Also, when I went to pay for the service, the credit card machine was broken. This was not the first time this happened here. I had no cash, so I'm lucky I just happened to be carrying my checkbook. The sad thing is that the employee didn't even know who I was supposed to make the check out to. Fortunately, I found a much nicer place close by so won't be going there again. read more

Popped in today to get my 12 y.o. daughter's hair cut. Large sign in front window states $9.99 kids haircut. Daughters hair is long straight, no layers or bangs. Took all of 5 minutes for lady to spritz her hair (no shampoo or sink to wet down) and cut. No blow dry, no styling. Charges me $20.00. I mention the sign on your window says $10 for kids. "That is for little kids," she says. It is no wonder there were no other customers in the store. We will definitely not be back. My daughter points out to me as we were leaving another sign in window that says $15 for women's haircut. I guess only the lucky 12 y.o. gets charged $20. read more

Do not get the oxygenated bleach facials at Pretty Hair Design. Before getting this facial, I asked the owner if it will irritate my skin. Very confidently she insisted that it will not in any way irritate my skin. However, oxygenated bleach facial left my face with at least 10 burn marks. I went there with a clear face and when the lady was done with my facial, it left several burn marks. When I informed the owner, she said I already had those dark spots. When I came home and couple of hours later,the burned areas started to peel leaving my skin with open wounds. Never will I go there for any type of service. read more

Worst experience I ever had! Went for facial hair removal. Not sure what kind of wax she used I had severe allergic reaction. I paid her full amount for facial waxing and facial in advance. I was supposed to go back another day for my facial. Because of my allergic reaction I decided not to do facial with Pretty Hair design; and went back to ask the money back for the facial portion of the service. The lady was so rude to me! She did not return my money and I was forced buy stuff from their shelve. These guys should lose their license. If you have a sensitive skin be very careful with Pretty Hair Design. This is my first review ever in my life. Be patient enough to read this. This is for all the girls and women who love your hair. Don't ever go to pretty hair salon ever. They mess up your hair. Especially one lady in particular who has a very bad attitude. She is the most unprofessional lady with a very bad attitude I have ever seen in my life. First of all she doesn't know how to do her job and second she was mistreating the girl (helper)who was staying in the salon. I went to the salon expecting an another lady with glasses who has done my hair. And this was second time going here as I had to shop a store that was nearby to this salon. So I told her to cut 1 inch as I had long hair, just wanted trimming. She started cutting and telling this girl in her language that the scissors doesn't work and I was like OMG!! I was like trapped and I couldn't get out from there as she already started. She changed the scissors two times. I was like why on earth is this lady even here when she doesn't even know to do her job. She must be staying there until and unless it's her own salon or the owner is not aware about this lady. I am going for a very important trip and it's all messed up because for a girl hair is her most important feature. After I am back I am going to work on finding out the owner and working on it.
