My wife went here for microblading. Her eyebrows turned out GREAT and the lady (Alexa) who did them is super friendly and very professional. So why only two stars? My issue is with the receptionist(s) who are rude and unfriendly. When we left, the receptionist asked me for a tip, and I said no. After I said no, the complete body-language changed, her face changed into a thunderstorm and she didn't even respond to my "Bye" anymore. This happened TWICE (dame story after the touch-up) and it made our whole experience unpleasant. In our view, we paid good money for the microblading (almost 700 dollars), whereas in other cities (Miami, Los Angeles) it is about half that amount in similar 5-star places, so I expect a good service and should not be 'obliged' to tip on top on that. The owner should replace these girls with friendly, professional, welcoming faces to this business. As for us, we won't be going back to Prettology. read more

Gina is THE BEST! I had my initial consult with her then scheduled my microblading appointment with her for a few weeks later. Let me tell you, this gorgeous gal (with her own perfect skin and eyebrows) has the patience of a saint! First, she is a perfectionist and she will spend as long as it takes to make your brows look like twins (most artists settle for when the brows look like sisters). She absolutely nailed the shape; I felt like she read my mind. Second, my pain tolerance is not exactly high, and she was incredibly patient and reassuring although if I had been her, I probably would've kicked my whining/squirming butt out. Hahahaha Instead, she busted out in song a couple of times to distract me/make me laugh and even tried to find me a stress ball to squeeze (again, patience of a SAINT). Third, I'm only one day out and I have already gotten a TON of compliments on the shape of my brows and have been fielding questions left and right, such as "she made it look like real hair - how is that possible?!" Fourth, she wants to answer your questions, but more importantly, she's honest about colors/shape/expectations; she doesn't try and sugarcoat anything, so you're informed and able to better communicate what you like/dislike. Overall she was just wonderful; I did a TON of research before booking with anyone and I'm so happy I stumbled upon Gina. I went in for a lash lift (perm), and the lady didn't ask me how I want it at all, she just went on and did it. It came out extremely dramatic and I have very thin lashes, I don't think she adjusted the time according to my lashes instead she just went on and did it. Some of the ends of my lashes were very curly and I know it's because it's overdone. I went in at 5 and they close at 6 so I guess she was rushing, nonetheless I was not happy with it at all. She was not careful about my lower lashes so it's now also curled but upwards. Overall she was careless and didn't really care about what I want, I thought she was going to ask me somewhere along the way or she would adjust it according to the texture of my lashes. But no she just did her thing. The place itself was pretty and clean, receptionist was friendly and helpful. But it doesn't make up for my experience because now I have to wait for 6 weeks or so for my lashes to go back to normal, they look crazy right now, straight up 90 degree and it's not what I want at all. Even if I didn't take the initiative to tell her she should have asked me instead of rush it through. I paid around $130 and I can't say it's worth it. I'm sure some other technicians might be great but the one I had was Update: The owners reached out to me and offer to fix my lashes, they were helpful and professional and also respectful towards my review, now I'm just waiting for my lashes to grow out and hopefully next time I go I'll get exactly what I wanted with my lashes. read more

Let me start by saying Gina is amazing. Does microblading hurt? In my opinion, yes. Gina did a great job of making me feel comfortable throughout the whole experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I was really hoping this would be my eyebrow fix. Although my stylist was kind, she failed to finish the job. My eyebrows were not trimmed and she told me they would be trimmed with scissors. They were also not filled in before I left (I went home, re-tweezed and re-tinted my brows). Feeling discouraged after this weekend's facial experience. Two friends and I booked back to back, express "lickity-split" facials on Saturday afternoon- choosing Prettyology due to its incredible reviews. Long story short, once in the facial room, we were all asked what type of skin we have, and were then recommended different options by the esthetician. As we were paying after the sessions, we were told all of the recommended options (such as my mini peel) were actually add-ons, increasing the $100 "lickity-split" to $150, etc. If you're going to suggest a peel, a certain mask, an add-on of ANY kind, it is essential you also make note of the additional charge, at that time. Should we had known the additional charges for these facials, we most likely wouldn't have gotten them. OR we would've booked the $150 hour long facials to begin with. $150+ for a 25 minute facial is ridiculous. After an embarrassing discussion between ourselves, the esthetician and the receptionist, they honored the original price we were quoted. We were EVEN told that the pricing on the website is no longer valid and that express facials aren't something they normally do... wait, what?!!! We are far from cheap, and still tipped 20%, but this was bizarre. We left feeling confused, and the whole debacle completely killed the celebratory birthday vibe we had come for. If I could give it Zero stars I would. What a rip off. I have a life so I'm just getting around to writing this. I went for permanent eye liner two years ago, spent $850 and got nothing for it. Two sessions weeks apart. Both times, the "excess" pigment flaked off within two days leaving me with no results. Both times I called and emailed. I'm a nurse who actually has experience in wound care. I followed their instructions to the letter. When I expressed concerns about it the first time I was told "everyone has this experience, we're conservative with the first session, you'll get a better result after the second one". I let it go. After the second session, when the same exact thing happened, I emailed and requested a partial refund. I respect the technician's time, so I'm not asking for a full refund, but I need something back. The response was that they don't give refunds but I can have $200 off of a future service. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Do you REALLY think, I'm ever coming back there???? 6 weeks later, I was at Edda Garcia's Permanent Makeup in Avon, MA. I paid $400 and got an amazing result. Do not waste your money or time at Prettyology. There is so much more to the story, (inexperienced tech, no pictures on-line.....) but I think you get the gist. read more

I am really into having great eyebrows, and I had been curious about microblading for a while, but when Carly Cardellino's piece in Cosmo came out I knew I had to do it. I did a lot of research to figure out where to go. Prettyology seemed like best place in Boston. I chose to go with Shalyn because of her reviews. I was wicked scared as I went in for the procedure. This is your face - if someone messes it up you are basically screwed. Luckily, Shalyn is amazing. She is the nicest person and explained everything to me. She showed me how my brows would look before doing anything. I loved Shalyn and highly recommend her. Once the brows were done (took about an hour), I was shocked by how dark they were, even though Shalyn had told me that would happen. It was just a sight to see such dark eyebrows. I chose to stay inside and wear big sunglasses when out for the first couple days. But by day 3, the color had gone down to the right color. I love my new brows! I have gotten lots of compliments on them. If you are thinking of getting it done, do it! And ask for Shalyn. read more

I got microblading somewhere else and was really unhappy with it- the procedure wasn't fully explained to me beforehand and I just didn't look like myself afterwards. I heard about Microblading from a popular YouTube personality, the only problem was I live in Western Ma and the only artist around me did the old fashion tattoo eyebrow with a gun. No bueno! So I researched and book an appointment at Prettology. After two reschedules I finally had my session this past Friday! After a 1 hour and 45 minute drive I arrived at the salon. I was greeted warmly by the receptionist I waited no more than 20 minutes (I arrived early) when Wendy was ready to see me. Wendy was fun, intelligent, and I felt completely at ease. She has mircrobladed many women with deeper skin tones and was completely at ease with handling my crazy brows. Wendy did a thorough job of explaining the process and answering my questions. Then she meticulously drew and measured the appropriate eyebrow shape for my face. During the session Wendy was very convivial which helped as the session flew by. At the end I was given my after care instructions and some salve to bring home. I'm on day three of the healing process and things are going great. I can't wait until my follow up to see Wendy once again and finalize my brows. If you are a woman of color in MA consider taking the trip to the salon and ask for Wendy it is totally worth it. read more

Microblading- after my first visit I left loving my new eyebrows. They were full and I lived the shape. A week later they were completely gone. I didn't worry too much as I had a second visit coming up in a few weeks. After that visit I left with very thinly shaped brows. Completely different from the first visit. A few weeks passed and they were almost not visible again with just an extremely thin line here and there. I now spend more time doing my eyebrows everyday than ever before as they are now different shapes. Almost $900 down and In worse shape than they were before I went there. This review is for brow shaping. A warning to any client that books with Julie or Shalyn: make sure you ask about their prices when you book! Since they are more experienced, they are significantly more expensive than the $40 advertised for typical services on the website and your receptionist may not warn you at the time of booking that you could be paying $25 or $95 more for their services. I booked my second appointment with Julie based on the extremely positive reviews here on Yelp. When I booked, the receptionist did not mention she had a higher price. Flash forward to the appointment when I'm checking out and he tells me that her price is $135 ($95 more than what I paid at my first appointment with one of her colleagues). I was completely shocked. The receptionist kept repeating something along the lines of "I'm sorry. I assume that anyone calling to ask for Julie knows how expensive she is." After some discussion with the receptionists (but not Julie), they "did me a favor" by reducing the charge to $65, which is Shalyn's price, and providing a discount on the product I was buying. That evening, I spoke with Julie by phone about having the studio be more transparent about the different pricing tiers when clients book appointments. I appreciate that she took the time to call me back to discuss the problem and train her staff about this issue. With respect to the quality of the service provided, Julie did a good job on my brows, but it wasn't noticeably different from what her colleague did a few months ago. Julie was also 35 minutes late for my appointment because of complications with a client's permanent brow tattooing. On the plus side, their studio is bright, airy, and comfortable. They offer you beverages while you wait. I'd like to go back and give the standard brow shaping another shot. read more

This place is amazing. Everyone is so professional. Finding a salon for specified services that do GREAT work is so hard to find these days. I had an appointment for 3D Micropigmentation back in August and went for my touch up with Shalyn. She's AMAZING. Not knowing what exactly it was that I was getting myself into - she explained everything step by step and made sure I was comfortable and that I liked the results. I went for the first time today and was so excited based on these reviews - I left $130 later and utterly underwhelmed. I went to have a lash lift. I told the stylist before we started that I have incredibly heavy lashes that don't take to the lift unless it's done for longer than normal. She was super nice and left the lift on longer than usual, but once she took it off, they looked exactly the same as when I went in. I was nice and told her they looked the same and expressed my disappointment, and she told me they did in fact lift, and maybe next time she would do a tighter curl. For $80, I would hope she would have helped me then rather than telling me essentially, "bummer, it didn't work, pay me $80 and we'll try again for another $80." I decided to have my brows tweezed while I was there, as well. They look nice, but again, nothing nicer than I can do for myself with a pair of tweezers and was charged a whooping $40 for the 15 min tweeze session. I give two stars because the facility was gorgeous and everyone was so nice! Personally, just not worth the money in my opinion for results I can either 1. do myself (brows) or 2. have done much better for less money (granted definitely not as nice and relaxing a facility. Unless you're going for a special occasion - in which case, again, it's a beautiful and fun enviornment,- I definitely don't recommend Prettyology. read more

I got my brows done for the first time ever back in december. I was nervous because I did not want them thin or over-tweezed (thick brows are in style.) I forget my stylist's name (sorry!!) but I loved the way my brows came out. they were shaped really well, and I was so happy with them.
