This store and location has been growing on me over the last couple years. I like its convenient location, free parking and hot foods section. Plus I am usually pleased with the freshness of their foods. I also enjoy their lunch box with bbq pork and soy sauce chicken, tho it tends to be saltier in taste and needs to be paired with hot tea or a drink. Overall, it's quite tasty when purchased at the start of lunch hour as the chef brings out all the freshly prepared whole chickens and satisfying. Their bbq lunch boxes seem bigger in portion size and more economical ($14.98) than Neptune plus with the ample parking options, it makes for a much quicker grab and go lunch option. (IMO, Neptune is better for dim sum or dine-in meals.) I usually prefer coming to this store over t&t for Asian groceries such as seaweed snacks or condiments or dry noodles etc. Because I find this location much less crowded with faster lineups and feels more comfortable with its natural lighting and spacious layout. This store meets my overall expectations in cleanliness, convenient parking, and cashier efficiencies but some may opt to shop elsewhere to look for lower prices. For me, their deli foods section, free parking, decent food selection, fresh quality and friendly service keeps me returning to this store. read more

Interior was clean and organized, a lot of discounted items like frozen seafood and beef slices. There were plenty of choices for dumplings and gyoza. The fruits are so fresh. Cashiers were friendly and quick to help. Male washroom was clean. I love having some lunch here where I can warm them up myself using a microwave at the seating area with a TV. I arrived at 7pm. My husband and I went out to run some errands together and wanted a quick, simple lunch afterwards. We ended up at Pricesmart Foods in Burnaby and ordered a couple of dishes from the hot foods area plus a box of California Rolls. Who would ever guess that one could eat so well at a supermarket? This food wasn't just decent, it was actually very good. I think I enjoyed this food more than food I've eaten in a lot of restaurants. To begin with, I was really impressed to see that they had a Vegetarian Shanghai Noodle dish. Shanghai Noodles are usually served with shredded pork. These Shanghai Noodles from Pricesmart Foods were the first ones I've ever seen that are Vegetarian; I found them not in a Vegetarian restaurant, but a supermarket of all places! Eggplant and tofu were very tasty. The amount of rice used for the California Rolls wasn't excessive; the rolls were huge and packed with ingredients. They are also a very good supermarket to shop at. (That is their main function after all!) It's a great place to shop for both Western and Asian foods at the same time. Finally had an excuse to shop here. Looks like they replaced the Save On Foods here, which was infamous for caving in during their grand opening in 1988. (search "Station Square collapse") Parking is plentiful in the Station Square lots. There is the parkade behind the supermarket, as well as the section by Best Buy. Even though the owners are unchanged, the supermarket now has a fairly decent selection of Asian goodies. Smaller than T&T in this regard, but much better than Superstore. There is a hot food section as well, which is nice. Pricing is still on the high end compared to Superstore. But I guess this place is convenient for those who live in the surrounding area. With that said, there is also a Superstore nearby. read more

Been here multiple times to buy grocery and deli. I often like to buy instant noodles, spice /sauces, icecream and deli. I think they're very competitive with T&T, and sometimes the deals can be better at Price Smart. Deli section especially Sushi, Chinese food, fried chicken are pretty good. They don't have any Viet deli like T&T does (e.g. Buncha, Banh Mi, Salad Roll and Viet dessert) ; however their BBT section is VERY limited and comes as $4.49 in a small cup. Asian sauces can be cheaper at Price Smart than T&T. I'd often go to T&T when I need to buy fruits and veggies. I love shopping at Price Smart for Sushi, Korean fried chicken and Sashimi. I personally think the fried chicken here is not bad. I had a Korean fried chicken that came in such a thick batter. Could've had better ones though. It's super easy to collect point whereas $20+ purchase is required to collect points at T&T. I highly recommend Sushi and Chinese food section their food are pretty good. Meats are fresh and tasty just as good as T&T. Asian cookies/snacks are really good too. Bubble tea pack is a must buy for the BBT lovers. Frozen packed Tom Yum Kit was so tasty. I'd buy deli here and then go to T&T for some BBT. I'll give 3 stars since there isn't much staff around at the self counter. read more

PriceSmart is now an Asian store. It is an alternative to T&T. However, it is a lot better here. There are less people and it seems like they have more selections than T&T. In terms of prices, they are similar to T&T. Some items are more expensive and some are cheaper. You have to keep your eyes out for deals. They also sells similar items. For example, they have Chinese New Year goodies. They have cooked Asian hot food. They even sell Asian buns. I have noticed the snack isle is a lot bigger and has more selections than T&T. I found an alternative to T&T for Asian grocery. I don't know why it took me so long to come here. Maybe it is because the area looks very messy with construction going on for the longest period. They have their own parking garage which makes it so convenient and easy to shop here. T&T in Metrotown is just horrible, dealing with the parking. Most of the items found in T&T is available here. There is also a bakery, cooked food section with a small eating area for dining in. I find the serving is much more generous. Huge portion, enough to make it two meals if you are a small eater. The plastic bags ($0.05 each) are much more durable than Save On Foods, and they are under the same owner. Go figure. I am ok if you want to charge for plastic bag, but at least make it durable so that I can re-use it or have it lined the bin. So I hope they will continue with this current supplier. read more

Newly opened supermarket at Station Square. Pricesmart is Chinese version of Save on Foods. Most of items are same except they have more Chinese snacks, fruits, rice and etc. When I checked out, they were very busy on some aisles. Overall, it's clean and well-stocked for products. If you are looking for more than your conventional super market like Safeway or Save on Foods - But moreso looking for more of an asian flare on the side like a T&T this is the supermarket you should come here. It is located close to Metrotown and there is plenty of street parking as well as they have there own underground parking lot. Very centralized location. I come here quite often as they have a wide range of fruits and veggies that you can't find in a conventional supermarket. This location is quite large and have huge variety of items from frozen dumplings, live seafood and to bbq pork, as well as a selection of take out or to-go items from dim sum to noodles. There is also a place for people who can sit and eat their take out if they choose to do so. This place is like a one stop shop for all your items. The place is clean, and the staff are friendly and willing to help. Also they are part of the "Save on" conglomerate so you can used your save on more points! I would definitely recommend! read more

DO NOT COME HERE! They lie about the price match policy. T&T will always be cheaper than this place and their PRICE GAUGE POLICY.

They gave me a BBQ pork bun when I asked for a chicken bun at the dim sum counter. I went back and told them. They told me to give them back the whole container which included a vegetable bun and a vegetable with pork bun as well. They said they would give me the fresh ones from the back instead so I asked them how long would it take. They said 5 to 7 minutes. When I went back, they told me again the buns were from the back which were freshly made and they were not from the front display. However, when we sat down and bit into them at their seating area, the buns were not hot and the filling was minimal while the skin of the bun was 1 inch thick. We were shocked. They were barely warm and the meat inside was cold. It was horrible. The spring rolls which were in the display at the counter were cold as well. That means the buns were not hot in the steamer (both at the back and at the front - there was no steam from the buns) and the temperature of the oven was not even warm. This is outrageous. They lied to customers by using the steamer and the oven to make customers think that the food was hot but they actually gave cold food to customers. Would they eat these items themselves? This is unacceptable and we would never have their homemade food again. read more

We happened to be staying at the Airbnb upstairs. Talking about convenient! I love being close to a grocery store to get my share of bottled water to sustain us during the trip. It's an enormous store. Clean with wide aisles. Parking is conveniently located downstairs. There is a baked goodd section, so you can grab some buns for breakfast. We had the coconut buns. Not bad. For dinner, you can grab some ready-to-eat entreed. We tried noodles and also something spicy...I forget what but it was two months ago! They were a nice quick meal. In addition to food, they also have personal products if you've forgotten or used up your toiletries. Surprisingly, I didn't see a lot of shoppers there, so the lines were short (if there was one at all) and speedy. We must have been there 3-4x over our 4-day stay. read more

I was really excited to shop here, being a fan of PriceSmart foods and Save-On from when I worked at one myself when I was a teenager. When this store opened, I happily walked over to do some shopping at reasonable prices, and was sorely disappointed to see that well over 80% of the products being sold at this location are not in English. Most have been imported from countries that do not have any English labeling, so good luck knowing what you're actually buying. All the products that are English are stowed away in the back of the isles. I seriously thought for a second that I was walking in to my local T&T. Whats more, the self checkout machines offer English, two Asian languages (of which I'm not sure what they are, presumably Mandarin and Japanese,) but no French option like I would expect to see. Unless I'm feeling particularly adventurous as to just guess what I'm buying, I do not think I will be returning until I can actually read the labeling on the products that I intend to buy. read more

Not impressed by pricesmart employees. I go to their store self serve. Take a min longer and this female employee breathing down my neck. I tell her to scram and don't need her help. Then your male employee goes you shouldn't shop here and go to Safeway. Also told me I should go to a cashier. It's like wtf four year old can self use self serve and I didn't steal anything. Your employees said I'm banned from your store. Talked to your manager on the telephone and told me that's not the case I'm welcome back. So we can't take our time with self serve and not be hassled? Today, I shopped at PriceSmart Foods for the first time in my life. I have heard about people raving about the Richmond PriceSmart before, but I never made the effort to go to any PriceSmart location. I must have driven past this Burnaby store over thousands of times, but I never made the effort to go inside this location because I always had the choice of going to Superstore, T&T, Save-On-Foods and Costco. From what I heard, there used to be 16 PriceSmart Foods in BC, but as of now, 14 of them have been converted to Save-On-Foods. The two remaining PriceSmart foods are now in Richmond and Burnaby and both of them are considered as Chinese versions of Save-On-Foods. PriceSmart reminds me of Save-On-Foods, but it has a heavy influence of Asian foods, especially Chinese. Basically, whatever you can find at T&T is sold at PriceSmart. I have been to T&T wannabe stores in Richmond before, but this store does it so much better because it's well organized, clean, warm and there are lots of freshly cooked pre-made Chinese meals available. There are foods sampling stations like T&T and Costco. They sell Asian fruits too, so it's not much difference from produce section at T&T. They have a seafood section that sells fresh, live seafood and frozen seafood. I have to admit that the seafood section at T&T looks superior as the live fish aquariums at T&T have cleaner and clearer water and there are more selection of seafood at T&T. I saw lots of freshly made and pre-made meals. I tried their freshly made deep fried quail with red peppers and garlic, and it was delicious for someone who's not a big fan of quail. We went on their grand opening weekend and anticipated a big crowd. But what we didn't expect was the awful store management that caused an extremely dangerous fire hazard. All the exits were blocked by empty grocery boxes, performers who were there for the celebration and the lucky wheel draw. Not only you were not able to easily get out if you were checking out with groceries, but also when we decided not to buy anything as there would be an hour's wait for the check out due to the long lineup, we found that we were having trouble leaving the store since all the exits were blocked. We eventually had to climb over some boxes and squeezed through the lucky wheel draw crowd to make a way out. This is so irresponsible of the store management. If there was a fire, thousands of lives would have been lost. It's surprising that they got away with this. We decided to never come back to such a store. read more

Compared to other supermarkets in town, kudos to Overwaitea for ensuring consistently professional and kind service to their customers. I've been coming here for the last several years, and every employee I've experienced has been kind, courteous, and as helpful as they are able to be. I just returned from the Grandview/Rupert Vancouver Superstore, and the customer service employee I encountered was rude, uninformed, and definitely did not put Superstore's customers first. Asked her where something was, and was told she didn't know and to find it myself. When I ask such questions at Price Smart or Save On Foods or Urban Fare, I usually am given a response of where it is (because they know!), or they will walk with me to find the item. In some cases, they will advise of me of various options or discounts if I buy a certain amount of the item I'm seeking. In other words, they show they care about who funds their stores. Customers! Close to the Burnaby public Library which I was at for a workshop. It was getting a little later, therefore, instead of going to the grocery store by my house I found it easier to come here to get my needs. The prices have never been that price efficient and or friendly compared to my regular store but when in Rome. I came here for some single serving steak bites for stew and for some apples. The lineups were long with only two cashiers and a line of 20 deep. No one bothered to open another til or call someone down. read more

This place is sort of like 99 ranch and Safeway got married and had a child because it combines the inventory of both of those store into one mega grocery store. Sort of like Walmart but only Groceries. Its right next to Metrotown centre so part of a one stop shopping destination. There is plenty of parking everywhere and access to transit too. read more

I don't know how other Price Smarts are, but in this one you'll find expired products quite often and old wrinkled produce. I guess that's how you become a billioner, nothing goes to waste right. Staff is nice and helpful always, but this can only be managements decision. Considering the store is at the base of a tower and exclusive building complex where a sq/ft goes for $1500-2000 and the cheapest place is over 1 million, this should not be the case, not only here but anywhere. Brentwood's got Whole Foods and we're sold junk - c'mon get real. I'm done with this store, maybe I come back in a year to check if things have changed. read more

This place is a headache. The guy speaking over the mic spoke only in Cantonese or Mandarin (I can't remember cause I just wanted to leave so bad) and I had no idea wtf he was saying, ugh!! This Metrotown Price Smart Food has become my favourite grocery store. It closes late than T&T :D This store is definitely focus on more Asian targeted marketing. Not much western prepared food, but they have one section for sandwich & salad etc. My favourite section is cooked food area, lots of different dishes: dim sum, BBQ duck and so much more. read more

This is one of the Asian-themed Pricesmarts, and it's huge with a great selection of East and Southeast Asian products. Not the cheapest place around, but prices aren't too crazy and there are pretty good sales. read more

This supermarket delivers the worst customer service and poor quality of food. I have made a really bad voice to shop there instead of superstore in Metrotown. In specific, I have bought mussels and clams as they are in season with good quality; however, it was not the ones I have bought from here. First of all, the water tanks did not have water running, which looked like stale water. I should have left and go for superstore instead but I regretted that I didn't because the taste was not fresh and most mussels had seaweed embedded with the shell, looked filthy! The staff was rude asking me to bring the basket to his side when he could have just walked over to me in a few steps. Then he mocked by asking if I wanted to weigh that piece of stone, I replied by saying I didn't know their store selling stone with shellfish. I went to the Chinese roast meat department which I specifically asked for lean roast meat. When I opened it at home, that was half fatty meat that I threw out half of what I paid for. The highlight was at the end when I asked the cashier to put my grocery inside the recycle bags I have brought. She did it very unwillingly as she threw everything in. When I got home, I have found my kiwi broken and so were the shells of some mussels because she did not care about it at all, stacking heavy items on top. We spent over $100 in groceries which their pricing are not cheap at all. Last but not least, one time I bought the Garden Hong Kong biscuits and I had food poisoning that late evening right after. Be careful when you shop there as they probably sell the lowest quality of food with good packaging in Chinese. Food is not fresh, but price does not reflect quality, so good luck if you continue to shop at PriceSmart in the future! I would never shop there again! read more

I have been to Price Smart numerous times and I love the variety & selection they carry, especially for Asian foods. When they first opened, they were very good, attentive, and customer oriented. The last few times, not so much. Yesterday, I took my parents & we walked around and noticed hardly any floor staff around & it was moderately busy. I wanted to ask where one of my favorite items was & couldn't find anyone, so we went over to the hot food area where we knew there was always some staff there. We walked by one lady, Yok Ching, and she never looked up once at us or asked if she could help us. So I loudly said to my mother in English & Chinese that the service here is horrible & that lady has not looked up once!!! We walked away to the hot food area where there was a man & a woman working behind there & my parents ordered something. Then I asked where a product was & the woman yells 'we don't have that here'. We said in the store, not here. Again she yells back, find someone on the floor. I said if we could, we wouldn't be asking you! Then she yells again saying if it's not there then we don't have it, pointing in a direction that could be anywhere. By this point, I just wanted to dump what little I had in my basket & leave. As we were heading to the checkout area, we ran into a team supervisor & asked him where this certain product was & he told us to go find some floor staff. Again I said, if we could find any, we would. Then he went up to another staff member & asked him. The other staff member said by the bakery. Wow!!! The store is huge and the least that they could have done was say where exactly . . . like in the fridge section of the bakery. Would it have killed them? No, but they acted like we were bothering them. Obviously, customer service is not important to them and they forget it is the customers that make or break them! read more

I recently transferred a prescription to the pharmacy at the new Price Smart store in Metrotown, just on Kingsway. The lady in the pharmacy who helped me was wonderful. She was very competent and made the transition easy. It is hard to find such good customer service in this day and age. I would highly recommend this pharmacy and the staff should get raises.....smiles. read more
