Unfortunately, I have had unsatisfying experiences with Pride Disposal. Recently they failed to pick up my trash one week and provided what I consider unsatisfactory and unreasonable explanations. In most industries, a consumer can always move service to a competitor if we are dissatisfied. But in these monopoly utilities, I think the only answer is stronger regulation by the franchising authority, since they do not feel any pressure to improve from customer-switching. Their absolute refusal to change practices, coupled with escalating and outrageous fees convinces me we have to find a way to revoke their franchise so they are not allowed to continue abusing their customers so severely. read more

We have had multiple issues with Pride and their services. Not picking up and then telling us the can was not out when it was definitely put out the night before. This has happened more than once. They missed pickup 2 weeks ago and now missed again........claim they have cameras on their trucks - great! Look at it and you will see the can was at the street. From here on out I am taking photos every single time I place the can at the street the night before. This review is for drop off shredding service only. I needed several banker boxes of documents shredded. You can drive right up sitting any open hours. They put documents in a locked vault until they shred at the end of day. If you wish you can make arrangements to watch as they directly shred them. A large red recycle tote full of documents is $10. The minimum. Payment by card only and they text a receipt. Easy peasy and cheap. read more

I rented a 40 yard dumpster for 4 days. They dropped it off Monday morning at 8:00am. Good! They picked it up Thursday morning 6:00am. Technically four days, but not really. I was told the dumpster was gonna be $417. Was not told there would be a delivery fee. A pick up fee. And a charge for the weight of the contents in the dumpster. The total bill came to just under $700. Be aware of all the extra fees if you rent a dumpster box from Pride. Had I known, I would have rented a trailer and made a couple of trips to the dump! Wow ! There are cheaper ways to remove junk from your property. Customers be aware of the extra fees you will pay when renting a box from Pride. This is my first time renting a box. I have been waiting over a month for a replacement or repair of my trash can, which has no lid! I have called four times to get this taken care of. Now they tell me it's not their fault! BS, of course it is! Excuses, excuses, excuses! They want my payment on time but clearly they aren't providing timely service! Now they are telling me it will be at least 2 more weeks! I was very pleased with Prides communication during our recent ice/snow storm. They kept us up to date on many social media platforms and provided realistic expectations. Plus they made sure to put their employees safety first which I appreciate. Today for the 2nd time this year my trash at the curb was left uncollected. When I called, the customer service person who answered repeatedly said "it shows it was collected", as if that would be helpful. She strongly implied I was in the wrong, and told me I'd need to wait another whole week for collection. When repeatedly pressed, she begrudgingly offered a Monday pickup at the earliest, after I pointed out to her I am disabled and unable to carry my trash to the dump myself. She then said she would examine the truck video to determine the truth of the matter, and get back to me. She did not do so. I've worked in customer service; when a customer has not been provided the service they've paid for, you don't question their veracity. You apologize and do everything you can to make it right. If I had any other option for trash disposal available to me, I would be long gone as a customer. I have had top notch service from the drivers to the office staff to the recycle staff. They all have been efficient, professional, and make everything user friendly. Pride has allways been easy to work with and responded promptly to any issue or request.

I realize very few people write reviews for disposal services unless there's a problem, so here I am to try to even the scales. We had a slight issue when we were signing up for service during which an email from me was missed, but they followed up soon after and my service was started on time. Our very first service we had a minor snafu and they didn't pick up our trash, but they very quickly came back out to correct the error and picked it up when we called. Since then, our service has been great. I've worked with Kelsey in their customer service department a number of times to add additional recycling and yard waste bins (recycling free, yard waste only $1.50 for an additional bin, which is very reasonable) and she has been extremely prompt, courteous, and friendly every time. We've now added three additional bins and all three times they were delivered first thing in the morning on the day promised, no issues at all. We used to live in a neighborhood that used Waste Management and our trash would be thrown all over the street, our bins lying sideways in the middle of the road, etc. I've had no such issues with Pride. Hopefully we will continue having a good experience! read more

Warning to all !!! I just recently had a run in with Pride Disposal. I have a emergency that needed attention. This put us in a bind until this payday. Being 12 days late on our bill of $85.10. With this being said they decided to skip picking up our garbage. The thing that really gets me is, when this winter, the storms through ice down on the streets. 3 days later when the streets were clean we didn't see anyone until the following week. Where was the discount on that? None !! I get you need to put up deadlines. But, 12 days is a little excessive. Wish we had Aloha Disposal back as our provider. read more

We just moved into our new home and have an account set up with Pride. Our first experience with them was terrible. It's Labor Day today so I didn't think they would pick up but as I saw the truck picking up my neighbor's bins down the street I rushed ours out to the curb. The driver clearly saw me and apparently decided I should have had it out earlier because he skipped my house and went to everyone else's. Super passive aggressive. Truck #4062 8:10am 2/18/20 The driver of that garbage truck. Decided to pull out in front of me and 4 other cars. By Tuwality middle school. On McDonald st. In Tigard. Caused my pick up to go sideways almost ramming the back of the garbage truck. Pulls out cuts us off then slams on his brakes. Front of my pick up was in oncoming traffic. Pride better check your driver before he causes a major accident. The driver has no concern for safety. Nor the laws of the road. Less then 50 feet he pulls out in Front of 5 cars by a school. Just to slam on his dam brakes. If it would of been an accident. It would of been prides fault. Just get that jackass off the street. read more

I'm surprised I'm rating them higher than others here, but maybe not because I am lenient in general. I just got service started. The customer care did pick up the call both times I called and were actually courteous and helpful. I can't comment on the actual service yet. Here is the disappointing part. The website looks pretty good, and the FAQ section is detailed and useful. However, when i went to the page to sign up for service, they had me fill out a form with quite a lot of information, and then said someone will get back to me. However, no one did and what's worse, the people on the phone could not even locate my info. Left me in quite an anxious state about my data. If they were going to have someone call me anyway, why ask for so many details including sensitive ones. So if they serve your area, I recommend just calling to get service started. read more

I'm happy to see as I go through these reviews that other people feel the exact same way. This place has a contract with the city of Tigard which sucks because I would drop them if I had a choice. Their customer service is slow, and generally pretty uninterested in solving problems for customers. I've experienced this on multiple occasions. In addition their billing system is very misleading. On three different calls I've been told three different due dates for my bill. They are very quick to add a late fee after they misinform me on when my bill is due. Then you get to call and talk to their monotone customer service department about removing a late fee that they created to begin with. I hope the city of Tigard reads these reviews and doesn't sign another contract with this company, they don't deserve the business. read more

These guys forgot to pick up our trash on Thursday. We called on Friday and they claimed it was marked as picked up. They refused to send anyone out to get it before Monday. Upset, because it's full and they lied about picking it up, we asked for a refund (it's not the first time this has happened) and were told point blank they would not. No Stars, if I could. Pride purchased the contract for service from Valley West Refuse. No notice from either, until last Friday. They have already started service. But they canceled my service, which we've had for 17 years because we owed $4.94. Paid that. Call back(Monday, 4:26pm). Get told that no we would not be getting service today(Tuesday), our pick up day for 17 years, because they close in 3 minutes. We'll yippee doo da! You screwed this up. Not me. And then when your payment SHOWS UP ON THE DAY IT'S DUE they attempt to charge a cancelled autopay bank account and HAVE THE BALLS TO CHARGE YOU A $25 FEE for them charging your cancelled auto pay bank account two days prior of the bill being due!! I was working in Tigard and yes, I was blocking a trash can. While I didn't see the garbage truck as I was on my knees, looking inside a hole, he yelled towards my direction letting me know I was blocking his can. He got out and took his can and proceeded to empty it with his truck. He was obviously mad! He then got out of his truck and put it directly behind me which is now in my way. Pride Disposal, your customer service is top notch if you want your drivers grumpy and yelling at customers. If you "pride" yourself on that service, hats off to you. I'm sorry that I was the first person to EVER block a trash can. Don't give this driver a Portland City route. He'll go Pride nuts on people!! Be careful who you speak to - you may speak to someone who thinks sarcasm is best way to handle customer service. Unfortunately, the company has several individuals giving out incorrect information to customers about service procedures and then that effects the customers negatively. In my example, both myself and my husband have been told on separate occasions to call in for pick up as late as the morning before. Yet, this morning we were told that was not procedure at all so we will need to have pick up next week. We've had similar issues with the company in trying to pay our bills. Note to company: When a customer calls in because they're frustrated with your service then it's best to provide at least adequate service. I live about a half mile from where the garbage pick up is at the end of a gravel road, until my neighbors decided they didn't like the garbage at the end of the road I had no problem with this company. I called and asked to pay the extra money to have the garbage man come to the house instead, since at the end of the week I can't physically drag it out the half mile by myself. They said oh not a problem, then the garbage man never came, but I was charged! After a week of trying to talk to someone I finally got a call back, they told me their garbage truck manager drove our road in a Ford F350 and couldn't even get through our gate without putting their mirrors in, and that is how they concluded they they couldn't get a garbage truck down through driveway or the gate. I understood, but then I saw this company come in with a dump truck, definitely wider, and probably about as tall come through the gate, without touching anything. I'm just questioning how he got in here, turned around with a smile on his face and dumped the wood, He never once had to get out and put his mirrors. read more

We are so disappointed with the policies of Pride as our recycling is backing up at our business. We have gotten conflicting information from them as to when it is to be picked up. It depends on who answers the phone I guess. When I called to get the recycling picked up because they already picked up the glass and skipped the two bins next to it, I was told the driver picked it up. I offered to take photos and video to show they in fact he hadn't and could they please come back and do it. The answer was no as all the drivers at 2:15pm were done for the day. "Could I get something taken off my bill as the service was not provided?" "No, it is included", so I have no recourse for a job poorly done. "Can you look at the video to see that in fact the driver did not pick it up?" The answer was "... sometime next week." "But we will be by on Monday to get it." Meanwhile the service I pay for continues to pile up. The kicker is the driver waved as he drove off to one of our employees. I think the company should take a little more Pride in their work. read more

Wow!! Just got chastized on phone like I was the bad person at fault for them half dumping my yard debris 3 out of past 4 pickups. Ive Worked 20 plus years hauling garbage and cant believe they're not shut down from complaints registered with County. Terrible drivers leaving whatever falls out of their truck or can on your curbside. Lazy!! Im never overfull to cause this and pay for two yard cart service when only one is out most of the year. Horrible service to close account. Unfortunately it's the only service in Tigard. We moved are more than 30 miles away yet Pride expects us to be responsible for the people that walk by and throw trash in the receptacle after trash has been picked up. I guess I am supposed to guard the trash can until they get around to picking it up. More than 10 days after I have moved. People were always throwing their trash in the receptacle after pick up on trash day. Pride was advised of this it happened on numerous occasions. That's how you get around paying for trash service in case you didn't know. We paid for other people's trash all the time. Pretty messed up. By the way Pride did not care and apparently I took the time to call and tell them but they couldn't take the tine to note it on our account. City of Tigard really needs to allow another company to come so Pride has some competition than maybe they will care about their customers! read more

I've lived in the same home for 13 years now. I think I have only had to call Pride 3 different times in all those years with a problem. Never once have they been rude to me and they have always come out within 24 hours and fixed the issue. The phone conversations that I have had have always been polite. And though I know that drivers are in a hurry, they always take the time to wave to me if I'm out in the front yard. I have no complaints. read more

I manage a apartment community here in Tigard, after transferring from a Beaverton apartment community with Waste Management as my garbage service provider. The drivers don't close my gates, they set cans down crooked with Literally full trash bags under them, that fell out upon them moving the cans. There is always a trail of trash on the ground twice a week from them picking up our cans. Keep in mind our cans are not even full so how they're dropping trash on the ground and then setting the garbage cans down on top of the trash is beyond me. There is no integrity with this company.It's a shame you can't choose your provider and they can give you crappy service. The drivers are incompetent slackers who are too lazy to get other truck and fix their messes. Such an absolute disgusting company!!! Wish I was still with Waste Management. We have lived here for almost 2 years and have always had a great experience with Pride. We downsized our garbage can after a month or so and they switched it out the very next week. Ordered 2 additional yard bins, no problem, brought them out right away. We have taken things directly to the site and everyone in the office and outside were super nice and helpful. Maybe we feel this is way because we came from another state and our service there was not very good but I really can't think of anything they could do better at this point. Thank you! read more

Awful, awful company. New to Hillsboro and our city to need to fire them. Drivers are awful, customer service is awful, and billing is awful. I am currently looking into other options for garbage disposal. These people will nickel and dime you to death for the worst level of customer service that I have ever seen. I had Valley West for 25 years and never had a problem.
