The lady that answered the phone quoted me $190 per ton - so we loaded up and went it. When we got there it was $170 a ton, and we were told "the price just changed." We explained we had called and were quoted another price - they just shrugged and said "oh well, the price changed in the last hour". You drive up on a scale and they weigh your vehicle, then you drive into a massive building and dump your junk. They reweigh your vehicle and charge you based on the weight of crap you threw out. This isn't a "landfill". It's a processing station. From what I've seen watching their videos, Portland's solid waste is trucked out into the high desert somewhere and buried in a landfill. This transfer station works to pull out all of the recyclables before that happens. Remember to cover your load.

Each employee should know the proper steps (Checklist) and procedures so that customers aren't confused once they get to the dump. I came here for asbestos drop off. The steps below are for people dropping off asbestos. Hope this helps. ASBESTOS REMOVAL AND DROP OFF Step 1. Get 6 mil bags yellow and clear (DO NOT GET WOVEN FABRIC FROM HOME DEPOT) Step 2. Put the asbestos material in the yellow bag and fold the tail down and duct tape it shut. Step 3. Place the yellow bag inside the clear and fold the tail down and duct tape it shut. Step 4. Anywhere on the bag write your name, address, and phone number. Make sure you write it on the blank spaces. Step 5. Fill out the Asbestos Waste Shipment Report Form. Step 6. Take materials to designated drop off. Step 7. Be ready to pay $100 for every 1000 pound. * *note: they weight you when you come in and when you're leaving. They'll subtract the two and that is what you'll pay. Be sure to get all these steps done so that you're not running around like a mad person due to lack of info.
