Came here specifically for TRT (testosterone therapy) monitoring and had a concerning experience with Dr. Geoffrey Hughes. At a visit meant to review abnormal labs (elevated testosterone, estradiol, and hematocrit) and address a promised phlebotomy, Dr. Hughes walked in with a nurse he was training, made a cross/blessing gesture over me (like the sign of the cross -- "in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit") instead of using a stethoscope or checking my vitals, said "you're alive, see you next week," and left -- all in under 10 seconds. All the while his nurse in training was laughing. No exam, no discussion of my labs, no plan. The phlebotomy that had been promised for that visit never happened. I had sent an initial email with my concerns about the high levels of hematocrit, testosterone, and estradiol. Dr. Hugh said that he would do a lobotomy to remove blood And he would prescribe something for the estradiol level. That never happened, and instead I had that bad experience I just explained. Immediately after the visit, I emailed him to say that we never discussed those things, and I never received a response from him. At my first visit with him, he also spent time on unsolicited political commentary about the president rather than addressing my health concerns, which felt out of place in a medical appointment. If you're looking for TRT care, I'd recommend a provider who treats hormone monitoring -- especially hematocrit, which carries real clotting risk if unmanaged -- with real attention. I switched to a urologist who specializes in Low T and it's been a completely different level of care. Looking at other reviews, there has been complaints about Dr. Hughes here, so it looks like Total Men's Primary Care does not concern themselves with the professionalism of their doctors. Go ahead and avoid this place. It may be convenient, but it's not safe for you. read more

**Beware of invalid billing and fraudulent insurance charges from the clinic.** Total Mens Primary Care informed me that I had 2 invoices outstanding, one for a charge regarding a blood draw that wasn't covered during my annual physical, which was correct and due. The other for a "visit" with a doctor that never happened. The "visit" was a 2 minute blood draw that the office requested that I come back and complete. There were no conversations with a physician besides your brief formalities of being courteous and welcoming. I have spoken with multiple associates without resolution. The company processed this "visit" with my insurance company as well, which seems pretty fraudulent as well. read more

I am new patient, the receptionist was not very pleasant to deal with for a first time. For my next follow up appointment, i showed up 8 mins late, the receptionist said they had to reschedule. I was like, I traveled 30 mins all the way to get there, every place has a 15 min grace time, but she said they dont have that policy. I told the receptionist that in the past i sat in the receptions for over 30-40 mins for the providers in other places, if this is their policy & attitude for being a few mins late its unreasonable, told her i will try to find a different provider, she was cool about it & said have a nice day. I will not recommend this place, since its really its only PAs there. read more

I have been going to TMPC-C/P for appx 10 years. Geoff Hughes is the NP or PA; as good as any MD. They are thorough, fast, courteous, and inexpensive. Plus - it is relatively fast and easy to schedule an appointment; and if you have an emergency situ. that they dont have an immediate time for, they coordinate with the Primary-Care clinic next to the HEB at Parmer and 1431. I've been a Total patient for 6 years but today was the first time I visited this particular office. I was able to book an appointment same day and was thoroughly happy with my visit. They are insulting and combative receptionists and constantly send in only the nurse instead of a doctor or NP. I asked her to speak with someone else because she was so combative. So happy I found this place. They are right around the corner from my home and keep hours that are exceptionally convenient. I never worry about forgetting my testosterone shot at 2 o'clock because they stay open until five. I chose Total Mens because I could schedule everything online. Total Mens is convenient and keeping up with the times as far as scheduling is concerned. I came in for a normal checkup. The doctor is a very interesting ex corpsman. The nurse had to take some of my blood and I did not feel a thing, she was really skilled. read more

What a great experience! Went in for a Covid test and will probably make them my primary care! The staff was friendly and efficient. I love the fact that check in paperwork was all electronic and took me less than 5 minutes! They told me my results would take around 30 minutes but it was more like 20! I'll start with saying that Geoff is an angel and has been amazing throughout getting the treatment I need. HOWEVER The old front desk lady needs to go. It's unreal how every single time without fail she is an absolute ***hole. I get treated for anxiety among many other things here and her rude personality and condescending behavior makes me want to start seeing another doc. It's not just me either she acts this way with every single person that walks in here and I'm surprised she hasn't gotten canned sooner. Grow up. Do better. I was looking for a new doctor and decided to give Total Men's a try. The visit seemed to go pretty well, however I found it a bit curious why they do not handle hormone checks at the same time. Seems like they like to double tap the insurance companies for hormone replacement therapy. Other doctors I have seen include this as part of the annual physical. Also the doctor suggested, and rightfully so, that I have a colonoscopy and that I was 5 year overdue. He said that he would send in a referral. After three days I called about the referral and I was told that they would call me to setup an appointment. Well it is now three weeks and still I have not received a call. I have called several times, most of the time I cannot get through, to ask about the referral and they are not showing it in their system. The person answering the phone said she would remind him to enter it. Do not go to this place their follow through is horrible. I guess time to try another doctor. read more

I just spoke with Jesse Luna about my billing. This was a bad idea. He is awful with customer service. He went to rush me off the phone without hearing my direct question. Several bad experiences so far. I am not impressed after two visits and dealing with the office for communication. The last time I could hear them discuss patient data through the walls. Came here to get an ear infection checked out. Was prescribed ear drops, was told they should be ready soon. Go to the pharmacy, nothing there. Nothing sent in. Then, after calling and texting back and forth over the course of 3 hours, I finally got the prescription filled. This was my first time going to this location. I was 5 mins late to my Covid test appointment and was told I had to reschedule due to an office meeting. I explained to the receptionist I hadn't been to that location and got lost and was only 5 minutes late. She refused to see me and told me to come back an hour later. I have taken the Covid test multiple times now and we could have easily completed the test within the time period before their lunch meeting. Also just general common sense if you can't accommodate for 5 minutes you probably shouldn't schedule patients that close to a lunch meeting. The receptionist was rude and seemed annoyed with ME, just overall the worst customer experience I've gotten from a "doctors" office in a very long time. If I could give them 0/5 stars I would. Look up any other location before attempting to go to this one. read more

This place was able to squeeze me in for a covid test that I needed to get into the convention centers... most places I checked were booked up so I love that they offer same day appointments. They'll be my go to place for covid tests from now on. I will say that I took a star off because the covid test was so extremely painful on one side. She stuck that swab up there really far. Like other comments say, you don't actually ever see physicians here or at least I haven't anyway. If it seems to good to be true... My insurance changed thanks to a massive increase in premium with our last policy. It became a nightmare trying to find a new primary care provider who took our new insurance. When I found Total Men's Care I was relieved. It was close, had great reviews, they took my new insurance, everything seemed great. I found TMC because Dr. Mason Jones came up in network. When I first called, I asked to make an appointment with HIM. They said "certainly" and booked my appointment. When I arrived for my appointment, I was called back within minutes after completing my fairly simple new patient questionnaire. A very nice nurse took blood, and completed my history. Then, again within minutes, the "doctor" came in. This is where it went south. I put doctor in quotes because he wasn't a doctor. He was a nurse practitioner. I have nothing against nurse practitioners, but they cannot write scripts for some medications. He told me they do not have ANY doctors there and to get one of my scripts, I would have to be referred to an outside physician. So if I continued to go to Total Men's Care, I'd have to go to another doctor as well to get the meds my former primary care provider has written for me for years. This was a TOTAL waste of my time. Why would I go here if I have to go to another physician as well? It would really be nice if it was made clear that absolutely no physicians actually see patients here. There isn't even one in the building. I took time away from work, and requested and paid a fee to have my medical records transferred there, and now I have to do it all over again. They market Total Men's Care very deceptively using physicians and making you think you're going to see them. But they don't even see patients there. They're only the "supervising" the practitioners. Getting good healthcare is frustrating enough. This kind of deception only adds to that frustration. read more

Only reason I gave one star is that I couldn't proceed with the review without at least one. This place is horrible. I made the appointment yesterday. Gave them all my insurance info. Showed up today. Gave them all the same info. I get seen by some assistant, not a real doctor mind you. Half way thru the appointment, they stop everything, the assistant guy drops the 'f' bomb trying to act like 'one of the guys' and tells me there's an issue with my insurance and I need to leave. He asks, 'can you at least pay $150'? Um, yes, I have plenty of money AND insurance. You couldn't figure out your insurance questions BEFORE the exam? In the middle my appointment you kick me out? Second rate establishment. I ask to speak with a manager. Not allowed. They won't give me a number. She'll call me so they say. Oh yeah, and while the wannabe doc is taking notes you can see all the profiles of their patients faces in the tablet. No HIPPA violations here or anything! Sad. Worst communication ever. I need a primary care provider. I have crohns and both my gastroenterologist and colorectal surgeon suggest having a pcp. I finally got around to take the time off work and scheduling a visit. I registered online giving them my personal info and insurance info. The day of my visit I registered as they suggested on the app. Also, gave them all my info, again. Why is it that they don't say they don't take my insurance until I walk in and talk to them? In a rude manner may I add. I called my insurance since I thought there was something wrong and my insurance confirmed they are in network and they went as far as to verify their tax number and confirmed they were in contract. I was turned away without being seen. Total and complete waste of time. The lady, once seeing that the insurance was confirming over and over that they're in network, finally started showing some compassion and did in fact offer some snacks since I was fasting all day under their instruction for a physical and it was after 3:00p by that time. I find it hard to believe that they couldn't have done anything else to make sure they fix the obvious error in their system. Is this how they make other people waste their time as well? read more

I had a normal well visit appointment early in the morning for bloodwork that required fasting. Showed up to my appointment and within 10min 2 additional people walked in for appointments as well. I did not hear the first one but the second was there for a covid test. I can only guess because the other person was a teenage girl that she was there for the same reason. WHY would you schedule healthy appointments and covid testing appointments at the same time? This is just highly concerning as to their practices and even cleaning regiment. Any other place I have been in the last year+ has not scheduled covid testing and other visits at the same time. I will never go back to this place and I had been a regular patient here until covid in 2020. This was my first visit back in over a year, so much for getting any preventative screening done.
