They claim everything is Organic but none of the stuff I have received have Organic label on it . Their label does have regular required USDA stamp but no "Organic" wording anywhere on any labels. The product labeled "Fresh Pork Hock" advertised the same way on their website was soaked in some fake smoked flavor and tasted salty. The meat was dark on surface and inside as what you get from marinating by fake smoked flavor. Far from any red color fresh meat you see in any supermarket. It might be some low quality stuff they buy god knows where and are just flipping it for profit. The hock was also skinned and chopped to slices (unlike what was advertised), which again indicates lots of processing and not something you would expect from fresh pasture where they are focusing on meat production and not on meat processing. They also offer fish which would again indicate that they resell whatever they can buy cheap from somebody and flip for profit. read more

Came here once for their spring open house type event. It was fun for the kids, good healthy food, and the farm was fascinating. I've ordered meat from here before. It's expensive but you're getting quality grass fed beef, no grain fed- free range chicken the way it should be, and pasture raised pigs. The farm is lovely and very picturesque. We were very disappointed with our box. For a small meat box that cost us over 300.00 dollars, we expected to have at least some pieces that were of high qualit. Our meat was tough, grisly and flavorless. we tried cooking the steaks rare, tough and sinew. we slow cooked the roast for 8 hours and we couldn't even cut through it. Even our filets were tough. I support their belief in pasture raised, ethically raised meat, but we will not be ordering again. read more

I found Primal Pastures online when searching for antibiotic-free, grass fed proteins. So far our first order has been great. Their chickens are phenomenal and we've tried their steaks as well. The meat had great grass-fed flavor and was perfect on the grill. Also, I tend to react negatively to conventional proteins (rash/skin issues especially with chicken) and I experienced no adverse effects from Primal Pastures. That was my main reason for trying them out & I'm so glad I did. We haven't tried the other items we ordered yet, but we're very much looking forward to chowing down soon! I love that Primal Pastures is doing it au natural, and despite the prices being high, it's well worth my health. I drove an hour to get there which is fine since there isn't any others near where I live. When I pulled up to the property I loved it. While the surrounding area kind of sucks (not their fault at all since the neighbors don't take care of their land...hint for those people...) I took the sourdough making class and that could be better--like how to do it instead of just explaining and answer questions. One learns better applying it than just listening. I've been eager to move away from factory farmed meat for a long time but found that living in Southern California it was near impossible. The culture down here doesn't support hunting and the big cities aren't abundant with farms. I would buy "Organic grass fed" meat from the grocery store, but I still didn't feel good about it. I don't actually know where it's coming from and I was never confident that "organic grass fed" actually meant legally what they were implying. Finally, I decided to research local farms to bring myself closer to my meat. I'm also vehemently passionate about regenerative farming and that was the main criteria with which I chose this farm. Besides my moral satisfaction, the product is amazing. I ordered a whole chicken, a Cornish hen cross, and honey. Ive been wanting local honey for my husbands allergies and I've always wanted to try a Cornish chicken. The order was timely and of quality I could see right away from the color, feel, and finally taste of the meat. It may be a bit pricier than your local grocery store, but there's good reason for that. I'm happy to pay. I roasted the hen and the chicken, Fed them to my family, and then made a bone broth from the carcasses. My husband is from Wisconsin where they have honeycomb farms, and the minute he tasted the honey he knew that it was real and he's been so happy with it. He eats spoonfuls every morning. I absolutely love this place, love the people, love what they stand for and best of all--their meat is honestly just the best. It really is the best chicken I've ever had. Their value boxes are a great value - I always get way more than anticipated. Their bone broth is absolutely *phenomenal.* I had some shipping issues that their customer care team was very attentive to and helped resolve. My interest in their products stemmed from wanting to source meat humanely as well as for health benefits of truly pasture-raised, humanely treated animals as a food source. I have been impressed from start to finish, complete with the open house farm tours they coordinate to educate the public as well as let you see for yourself how they operate. They even brought in a farmer from another local farm in order to sell fresh pasture-raised eggs on site for the tour. I feel so much better ordering my meats from Primal Pastures. I was a former vegan and once I visited their farm. Which I highly recommend you do their farm tour. I was okay trying meat again since I could see how humanely they raise their animals and how healthy they are. Very poor customer service only 1 star. Primal Pastures dream of producing premium grade, healthy and happy pastured poultry pastured pork sounds very good business plan, unless the meat is not edible and no there is no customer service. I ordered a fully cooked smoked ham in December for Easter. On Easter I defrosted it and warmed it up. When I tried the ham it was way over salted and inedible. The entire family tried the ham and not one person said it tasted good. What a letdown and ruined our Easter dinner. I was so excited for the ham (my favorite meat). I know hams are cured in a salt brine, but this one was off the charts. A 3.5 lb $55 ham wasted. The week after Easter I sent Primal Pastures an email and left a phone message about my Ham experience, assuming a quality company would stand behind their product and give me a refund or credit for another product, but I got no customer service response. Sounds like a lot of people have a better experience with the other meats they offer. Just would have been nice to have some kind of customer service response in regards to my complaint. I usually buy a Newsome Kentucky Gourmet BBQ Ham, which by far has a much better texture and taste. read more

Let me start off by saying, if this company simply responded and acknowledged my e-mail regarding my disappointing first time experience, I wouldn't be writing this review. I wanted to give them a second chance, however one week later I have been yet to receive an acknowledgement or response to my email. I placed my first order for about $133 with Primal Pastures a couple weeks ago, and per the website and checkout process, was told my order would arrive the upcoming Thursday. Around 5:00 P.M. Thursday, my package has still not arrived, so I called to follow up. The gentleman on the other line apologized saying my order was never "tagged," and nonchalantly asked if they could deliver it the following week, which means I would end up receiving my order 2 weeks after it was originally placed. I was not happy with that alternative. I cancelled my order, explained this was my first experience as a customer with them and this is pretty disappointing. Attempting to offer some sort of alternative resolve, I e-mailed them, kindly explaining my situation and asked for some sort of promo code to use on a future order for not delivering on their word and inconvenience caused (I was relying on my delivery for dinner plans that night, in addition the next day I was going out of town and was looking forward to having stocked up items of what I needed upon my return). Never heard anything back from them. Keep my experience in mind when committing yourself to this company, should you ever have an issue they will NOT be responsive or deliver on customer service. read more

Amazing food. High quality, and grateful it doesn't make me sick. Terrible, terrible customer service. Very rude and unprofessional. There isn't a number to call and reach them! They asked me to give them some feedback via email, so I did, and I let them know that I wasn't happy about how I was treated when I came to the farm to pick up some eggs. I also added that a phone number would've been great to contact them. I instantly got a return email of, "we don't recall anything of the sort." Naturally, I had to type an essay of an email to explain precisely what happened. Did they ever get back to me? Of course not. There are plenty of these "special" farms where I can order all the grass fed meat and corn/soy free chicken I want. Heck, even when I picked up the eggs, it was over 60 bucks for two flats!! For another 45 minute drive, I recommend going up to Happy Hens in Ramona where you can get the same quality eggs, if not higher, for literally half the price, and sometimes even as amazing as 6.00 for a whole flat! Let's just say, if this new business wants to succeed, they must learn that customer satisfaction is always number one. read more

Got a quarter cow. Side by side with store bought meat, there's no comparison. Taste, texture, color, everything. Store meat is pale, and tasteless and boring and tough in comparison. Not to mention, grass fed much healthier. I switched to grass fed because store bought would upset my stomach. This beef didn't give me any problem at all. read more
