Dr. Chander is wonderful. It's great to have an independent eye doctor whose office is easy to reach. The frame selection here is basic which made it hard to choose a suitable frame. I wish that the optician had informed me truthfully of the composition of my frames when I asked but ultimately she did an excellent job taking measurements and breaking out my options and their costs. I sorely regret that I was unable to go in within 30 days of receiving my complete glasses. My prescription was incorrect and now I often rely on my old glasses for many activities. Still, I'd return here in a heartbeat for my annual visit since it wasn't their fault that I couldn't make it in. I trust wholeheartedly that Dr. Chander would help make any corrections and refinements necessary. Their staff is knowledgeable of their own policies and they heavily discount exams for Medicaid patients (or at least they did when I last went in 2024). I only thought to review because they sent me a reminder text to return for an annual visit. Please consider coming here before heading over to a big chain retailer. read more

If you are looking for a great eye care specialist, Dr. Chandler is the VERY BEST in the business. The staff in the office are extremely professional and thorough. They answer all of your questions and ensure that you are comfortable. The equipment in this office is state-of-the-art. As a new patient, I was given a gift bag - with a coffee cup and instructions for my care among other things. Going to this office is such a pleasure. Dr. Chandler is very knowledgeable and answered every question I had. After my cataract surgery, he took excellent care of me and my vision is perfect and sharp. I had issues with dry eye and his Optase products are amazing and they work! Dr. Chandler receives my highest endorsement for anyone looking for a medical professional at the top of his game and care for his patients. He is very friendly and approachable. I did not have long wait times in the office at all. Although I live downtown, I would travel the world over to visit his offices. He is the absolute BEST in the business. I have called two times to request my prescription in the course of a week. It is illegal to retain that information after I paid for an eye exam. Horrible customer service, did not like how i was being treated the entire time, they can try and make it more hospitable.

Terrible service first they make you pay in full at the time of your appointment even if you have insurance then they send in the claim and have your money sent back to them so now they are being paid twice .have been trying to get my check from them since December. Called my insurance company and they said they sent the virtual credit card back to them and that they cashed in the check.eye dr Keeps giving me the run around ,not answering their phones telling me the person in billing is not there.ask to talk to the dr He's never available Have to get a lawyer to help with this issue .so sad that people have to deal with this kind of service read more

I've been going to this practice for several years. I had scheduled my appoint several months ago. Sitting in waiting for 45 minutes is unacceptable. Not one person kept me updated on what was taking so long. I had left my glasses at home I could have been back there. They asked me if I wanted to come back at 2?!?!!! Are you kidding me?!?! Wait times are ridiculous. I have never waited less than an hour to be seen and have walked out after going on 3 hours during an appointment. I was left in a room and finally just walked out. Came back after that to find it's still business as usual at this place. The staff is helpful enough but the total disregard for peoples time is insulting to say the least. read more

Never have i been to a eye clinic like this one. Thorough and complete service. Staff is very professional and attentive. Dr. Chander is so great takes the time to explain everything, answers any questions and puts to rest any concerns. We've been going to Dr. Chander for years and will continue for many more. He's very thorough and makes my little one feel comfortable. Adrianna is usually the one that helps our family with our glasses and she's the best! I have been a patient of Dr. Chander since 2008. I have eye issues, really bad eye issues and he is the ONLY doctor I trust to oversee the care and health of my eyes. He is a perfectionist and only demands the best for his patients. I respect his opinion, he follows through in detail your exam and eye health and his employees are fantastic to deal with. Yes, sometimes I do wait minimally when at an appointment, but I take that in strides as I have called and asked to be seen immediately due to an issue and he tells me to come right in. I can only assume the backup is due to him helping someone out in an emergency situation. Otherwise, I am seen immediately after arriving and taken care of in the utmost professional manner. Primary Eye Care Associates 5460 S Archer Ave, Chicago, IL 60638 The associates are rude, unprofessional, not willing to apologize for their behavior and they constantly talk over you! Chose this place a few years ago but now I regret giving them my business. Dr chander should really listen in on the phone calls maybe someone would be fired. The doctor is great! However, their policies and hidden fees are outrageous. You make your appointment. If something comes up and you want to reschedule or cancel your appointment there's a fee of $40.00. Once your at your appointment you either get your eyes dilated or a image exam. The exam is $38.00. If you want contacts there's an exam that they want to do for $67.00. I inquired to why this wasn't communicated at my initial call seeking to make my appointment ? Lady stated that it's optional. It doesn't sound very optional to me. At the end of the day I went through with the eye exam (felt I had to or I would get charged $40). No where on the internet does it state that there's a $40 for rescheduling or cancellations. I understand why this office would implement such policies . But it should clearly communicate before someone makes an appointment!! As well as the contact exam. Nothing sounded like an option. So when you make your appointments make sure to ask in full detail of hidden costs. read more

Ughhhhh, if I could give zero stars I would!! HORR-I-BLE!!! Appt was at 2pm, took an hour and 15 mins of sitting in the waiting room, with not a singular other human in there. Then we get called back and the lady giving the eye exam is so untrained it's unreal. Takes her forever to adjust the table and get my kids tested, I honestly thought I was being punked it was so bad. Will NEVER EVER go here again. IDK what happened since the last time I was here, but things really are bad here now. I've been going to Dr. Chander for years. I haven't been to a lot of different eye doctors before. Maybe two different places when I was younger. But once I went to Primary Eye Care, I knew this is where I wanted to continue to go for my eye health. Not only is Dr. Chander great, his staff is incredibly nice and respectful too. I do wait occasionally but never anything too long. Maybe 15 minutes, but when Dr. Chander is in with me, he is very hands-on, making sure my eye exam is as comprehensive as possible. So if he is doing that with me and answering any questions I might have, I know that he is doing that with his other patients. And if that's why I am waiting, then I do not mind. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES! I was a self pay patient. I went in one week and paid for a consultation to have a chalazion removed. The same day, I was scheduled with a surgeon to have it removed on Wed, 3/31 at 11:20a. I received a text confirming my appt on Mon at 10:16am. I took the day off for the procedure on my eye & showed up 15 minutes before my appt only to be told that that there was an error and they did not show me on the schedule. Even though it was their mistake, they offered no solution. I was not rescheduled for the day or any other day, I was not offered anything to compensate for my inconvenience. I literally paid for their mistake by missing a day's pay from work. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER have I experienced such poor customer service :( read more

It takes forever as you're locked in a room for 30-40 minutes waiting to be seen, at the end of which time you're escorted to another room only to wait again... Meanwhile, know-nothing millennial staffers buzz from area to area carrying clipboards, giving the illusion of work. Allot a half-day total time for an ordinary exam or other procedure, as this place is mighty disrespectful of people's time. My wife complained about it some time back, and the situation did improve somewhat. But now it's back to the old tricks. Having more than one doctor would surely help matters, as well as hiring those with at least some experience and aptitude for the job. The older/more experienced personnel seems to have been let go, with disastrous results. read more

They were extremely welcoming and caring. I had a corneal abrasion and thanks to primary eye care associates my eye feels a whole lot better and I got my vision back. I was headed to Chicago on business. As I was putting in my contact lenses at home, one fell out. I searched for a long time, but couldn't find it. Unfortunately, it was my last pair. (I was due for my annual optometry visit in about one week!) I headed to the airport with my spare glasses, but was set to make a big presentation to a new group of colleagues the next day. The contacts looked much better than the glasses. So when I landed at the airport, I sought out the nearest optometrist to try to get a spare lens, and found Primary Eye Care Associates. They had a trial pair of my missing contact. Still, they couldn't just give it to an unknown patient without an exam (I think this is the law). They were very thorough, courteous, kind - and even gifted me a discount on the visit. (They only charged me a pro forma $40). They chief optometrist even gave me some information about a new product in lens care to discuss with my optometrist back in CA at my upcoming annual visit. Overall, I was exceptionally satisfied. My only complaint is that it took a while. They were VERY thorough. Then again, I was in a hurry. If this were my regular optometrist, I would have wanted and expected such thoroughness. read more

Ive been going to this eye Dr since I was 8 or 9 and hadn't had no real issue with it until this past couple of weeks. First off let me just say I love Dr chandler he is one the best eye Dr that Ive had . But for his staff they need some lesson on manors first off I call to speak with my Dr and they tell me he never available i give numbers to call them back and they never give him the message. I go to Walmart to pick up my medicine and they tell me that it hasn't been filled I call the eye Dr while at the Walmart pharmacy and spoke with Magdalena who tells me to have Walmart send a request and they will fill it. I a couple of days go by and still nothing call back again and they tell me I then go and make a appointment because I need my eye medicine and there telling me its expired and need to go in there. Which at the time I was at work and had my grandma call whose been calling for years . She called last month and had no issue getting my medicine order to the Walmart pharmacy but this time when she called they told her I was an adult and they couldn't discuss my medicine with her even tho last month I still was the same age and they had no problem sending it in and telling her about it. I then make a appointment because its 3 weeks later because that's the next appointment they have available with there hours. I go to my appointment yesterday and they tell that I cant do my two appointments together even tho I always do them together forever. I then see my Dr finally and again he super nice understanding were going over my issues and my payments he give me my per tells me that I can pay when I get paid like I been doing for years and tells me to come see the other Dr he works with on the 30th so that way i can still get the proper care for my glaucoma. I then get down stair and I'm telling the from desk what the Dr tells me that he wants me to set up a appointment and then to order my medicine and that i can pay when i get paid. I then am told that I cant get my medicine till i pay my bill which one the Dr tells me that I can pay when I get paid so I ask to speak to my Dr and Magdalena and the other lady at front desk tells me I cant and I have to speak with Renee. So i tell them let me speak with her and she tells me that she busy so i wait in the lobby. Then they call me back up up there and tell me that she wasn't here anymore. So i ask them to speak with my Dr they told he me was busy even tho I just seen him so i told them I would wait for him. They then call me back up there again and continue to ask me can I pay something after I told them that I don't get paid till next week. I told them I been paying like this all the time and its never no issues so now why is it. I think that the staff needs to be swept and go threw because you should care about your long time patience and there health not just there money. I have to start with saying I though my vision was ok. I could see everything in the distance and I could read. I havent worn glasses or contacts in over 8 years. But I took my girlfriends advice and went to get my eyes looked at. Turns out my vision is no where close to good. And im in serious need of glasses to see the world clearly. The staff and Dr. Chandler are great and super friendly. They did not have the exact glasses I wanted but helped me find them in a book and got them ordered for my asap. My family and I will never return back to Primary Eye Care. I have had numerous issues since December of 2016 and finally done with them as of March of 2017. One of my daughter's received the incorrect contact prescription numerous times at one point I was told they were only a little off. She also never got the reflective coating on her glasses that I paid extra for. My other daughter had her eye exam on winter break from college by the time they came in she was back at school when we drove a total of 4 hours they were not the glasses she ordered. I called the optical department to set up an appointment. A woman picked up and I had some questions about the glasses they carried and asked if she could tell me if they carried a particular brand. I was put on hold for awhile, and when someone came back on the line it was a different woman. She didn't even know what I was calling about and seemed annoyed at the questions I was asking because her tone became very rude. I was placed on hold again, and when she came back on the phone she said that all the brands they carried were good quality and that the brand shouldn't matter anyway as long as they are the right prescription. Well excuse me! Poor customer service! Very unprofessional. I took my business elsewhere. Without a doubt this is the best place I've ever been to for my optical needs! The technology in the office is amazing. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Dr. Chandler is very thorough and professional. This was the most fun I've ever had picking out eyeglasses. Several staff members helped me to pick out some really cool and sassy frames. I came to this eye doctor to look for some glasses. Since the glasses are very expensive here and way overpriced, I thought I would just browse. I was greeted by a girl named Jessica. She seemed unknowledgeable of the products and line of brands they carry. I tried to ask questions but she would roll her eyes and go and ask another girl in the little tech room they have in the back. When she came back with new information she would walk away back into the little room and giggle and laugh with the rest of her co workers. When another co worker came out I asked her to help me and she said she couldnt because she had a patient. I looked around and didnt see anyone. Minutes later both her and Jessica were speaking in another language next to me making me very uncomfortable. I ended up leaving. I have never felt so disrespected in my life. read more
